Hi everyone. Please am I permitted to work as a teacher in UK on tier 4 student visa? I am a registered Physics and Mathematics Teacher in Nigeria with the Teachers Registration council of Nigeria (TRCN). I have fulfilled the mandatory requirement of becoming a registered Teacher in UK (scotland) via this link ( https://www.gtcs.org.uk/registration/qualified_uk_row-checklist.aspx ), paid and got my UK statement of comparability from UKNARIC ( https://uknaric.org/) and registered with the General Teaching council for scotland (GTCS) but waiting for the final certificate from GTCS. Some people are saying I am not legally permitted to work as a teacher even with GTCS certificate because I am on student visa. Please I need your input. Thank you |

UK is a nice place for hustling but I will advice you to put in for study visa and resume in January, not september entry so as to study from January to April with 20 hours work permit, then full time working permit during holiday from may to September. |

Elite4dollar: Please i don't get you.
Depends on the exchange rate.
450 for postgraduate
300 * 3 or 4 for UG
Depends on the exchange rate or what pops up for you on the day of application.
You can use the above as a guide to plan ... Please also add some extra amount to it because the exchange rate is always flunctuating. |

justwise: So what has that got to do with LadyJE? Nigerians are known for hiding vital information from others and that's why I got angry with her post but not with the real person behind that monicker. I always speak up without mincing words. No offence. Justwise... happy World Father's day to you. |

is there anything else you want to get out of this? nothing really but just not happy with how Nigerians treated me and others when I got here and was searching for job. Only got the job link from a white lady and very comfortable now. Few months later, same set of people came back and started begging and asking such link for their friend. |

LadyJE: My apologies Mr. Winzy for omitting your comment. I was highly distracted at the moment just went back to your comment.
For the PTDF, honestly I didn't know i would get it. I just applied casually. I saw the advert, it was here on nairaland, applied online. Some months later, I got a mail that I was shortlisted. The next stage was an oral interview. The interview was mainly a document verification exercise then questions like....what is the relevance of your course to the oil and gas? What do you want to do after school etc.
I answered to the best of my knowledge. Then asked for awards and publications, if you have any. I had just one. I went on with my life after only to receive a congratulatory mail Some weeks later. There is a thread for it in the Education segment. And no you don't have to know anyone before you get.
That's about what I know about ptdf, you can ask any other specific question and I will answer or direct you to someone that has the answer. Pardon me pls I am not able to type very long messages. I could call anyone that wants to know more about it.
@STENON thank God for your achievements but it will pay you greatly in life if you are not too quick to judge anyone without knowing the person's disposition at the moment. It says alot about your personality, and it's not in the positive. Have a successful application madam. |

LadyJE: Ok. Thank you for your input. Concerning the scholarship, it's not from a school sir. There are many scholarships up for grabs yearly. For example, TETFUND, PTDF, TOTAL, etc. I just kept applying when I see adverts, luckily, many of the adverts are here on nairaland. Any other thing you want me to answer pls ask and I will answer at my earliest convenience. Thank you again My apology, You must not come to UK with this bad mentality. I hate people that are not willing to share information with others but ready to get info from them . Mind you, I am in UK and self funded. I Saw and Shared the scholarship information with some friends and two got PTDF scholarship to UK and France just the same day you got yours, one got fully funded to Germany with Jena school of Phoenix, the last one is on waiting list at westminster university for full PG scholarship for Intl. Students. Please change your Naija mentality before coming here o, because White go ask you question tired about your personal sef like How old are you? etc. Nobody is taking your scholarship away from you Madam. Your Husband is a Doctor in Nigeria but he must look for how to enroll for a course and be a recognised Doctor In UK. The law is very strict against medical Profession here except he is just coming for menial jobs by hiding his MBBS certificate |
