*shrug* What is good for the goose is good for the gander. If they want to mock us for perceived losses politically, it is only fair if they should expect the same back. Any complaints at being mocked are simply hypocritical
Dapo, what is good for the goose is not always good for the gander. Lets leave tribalism for the immature ones, we yorubas are known to be well educated not only in Nigeria but the world. If the igbos for any reason hate us then leave them for God to take control. |
I love this article TNUBU4LIFE thank you. The plan is set, every yoruba citizen must work towards that goal even we the PDP member of the SW "must" join together for a greater yoruba nation. God bless the yoruba people. E yi omo odudua e ronu |
Just karma imo. Past few weeks or so, many posters were saying that the SW was the biggest loser of the elections. I don't see anything wrong in serving crow to such people.
I guess as well but just because some of them speak ill of us does not mean we should make fun of them. The way we are putting it is like we want their downfall in Nigeria. The other day I was reading a poster's post named Ezeuche; I quote the SW (yorubas) are the political york that have held the SE (igbos) from power. Now such statements are very wrong and should not be allowed on this site. |
Since yesterday, I have seen people on Nairaland open threads and celebrate what seems to be the political betrayal of Ndigbo. I find this quite sad and disheartening that SW and SS people on this forum are the ones making this seem like a joke or betrayal. The SW PDP and top politicians have made it clear that they do not want or care about who the speaker is unless someone just takes it and embezzle the money. The Ndigbo politicians are playing "lay low" but are not m.orons. The Ndigbo have gained a lot from this arraignment but for an ignoramus, it may seem like a lie or quite unclear. I would like to make something clear to southerners; We should never make fun of a fellow southerner most especially the Igbos because right now they are on a very good platform. The answer on how igbos have gained is for the igbo leaders to decide. In other word, their destiny is in their hands. To the south easterners on the forum, I would like to use the medium to apologise to you all on behalf of some of my people in the west. We in the west will never be happy at the downfall of igbos. I know the mature ones among you all already know this but for the ones that have taken that the yoruba mentality is to hate them and would love to see their downfall, well please do not take it to heart. Awon omo odudua, e so ra Igberaga ma mu e iyan son le E jo, e so ra te se bu awon omo ibo yi eniyan na ni won bi ti i wo e se |
TNUBU4LIFE:Yes but we in the SW have our own problem to face as well. Remember we in some sense semi-political united that is, I as a PDP member would not follow your ideas as an ACN follower. This does not mean I would put my party first before the SW but we still need to settle our differences in the SW before we talk about SE. |
TNUBU4LIFE:In as much as i detest your username (Tinubu). I see sense in what you are saying but the SE or igbos have not asked for your advice neither have they asked for help from the SW so I think it is safe to stop this you are typing. I do not think the SW would like it if SE are talking about our politics like this. |
TNUBU4LIFE:This is the truth, you are very right. |
As a Yoruba man, I do not see how this will benefit us in anyway. Give the position to the Ndigbo because they support Jonathan even in the north. The SW do no deserve it after voting for ACN in all levels apart from the federal. Obj did not ask for SW speaker, it was the SS and North that thought this out. |
zstranger:Yes he is right. It is called Ooni of ile-ife just like Ooni of Sabe or Ooni of popo, while the Alaafin is called Alaafin of OYO indicating the overall ruler of OYO empire which Sabe, Popo and other yoruba kingdoms fall into. |
So Yoruba life is less valuable than the lives of other ethnic groups?. Stop shooting yourself in the leg simply because you want to defend a group of dimwits who made a claim. So killing is allowed as long as it is Yoruba on Yoruba or Igbo on Igbo, etc?
In this context, the writer is explaining how other groups should stop committing act of killing on another group of people just because they are not from the same ethnic group. Killing is not allowed in any society but one must know that killing people from other ethnic groups just because they live in the same geographical space as your ethnic group is a barbaric act which must be condemned by all. |
Where were they during the Ife-Modakeke war? . Should other ethnic groups emulate that too?
Ife-Modakeke war did not claim any life apart from yorubas. Where there reports of igbos or northerners dying as a result of the war ? |
LMAO! This might have made sense if the eediots name wasn't Dayo Ogunlano. . .
Why are you insulting someone old enough to be your father. Do you in any sense expect us to start killing northerners and igbos just because of an election. The other day, northerners fled Asaba or something to an army barracks. Still yet all ethnic group feel safe in the SW, is that not worth emulating. |
A socio-cultural group, Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Group, has urged other ethnic groups to emulate the peaceful co-existence among the Yoruba. The National Chairman of the group, Mr. Dayo Ogunlana, who spoke against the background of the recent post-election violence in some parts of the North, in Lagos on Friday, said the Yoruba related well with other ethnic groups irrespective of their religions. Ogunlana said, “Other ethnic nationalities should emulate the peaceful co-existence among the Yoruba who relate very well with either their Muslim or Christian neighbours as well as with other nationalities outside the Yoruba nation. “Care should be taken to always prevent religious and tribal strive. All efforts must be made to foster true nationhood where Nigerians can own property and move freely unmolested at any part of the country.” He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for conducting free and fair elections, adding that “the April polls were relatively free and fair by our standard.” Ogunlana therefore called on the relevant authorities to immortalise the slain corps members, saying “they are martyrs.” He clarified that “COSEG is not only a voice for the Yoruba struggle. We have been reaching out to other ethnic nationalities with a view to forging a common front towards building a virile nation that all of us will be proud of. “A conference of all ethnic groups in Nigeria and in the Diaspora is in the offing to address the vexatious national question.” http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?datex=2010&theartic=Art20110502149429 |
Who is being vengeful? I am supporting a focus on economic prosperity in the East and Niger Delta. Do you have a problem with that? For far too long, the SW, has benefited economically from Awolowo trickery. Now it is time to correct past wrongs.
Correct what ?. Let me tell you that the port built in port Harcourt and others are good for the nation. Even as a detribalisted man, I want you people to leave lagos. Need I tell you that so long as there are companies's HQ in Lagos, it would still be an economic hub. Ezeuche think a bit so that you may see. All this moves has been planned but YCE and that is why PDP in lagos and other SW are not bothered about ACN winning. From what Akala did if you are intelligent enough, you would see that PDP in SW gave ACN the power. The other day I was talking to my father about why they fielded Dosummu in Lagos, knowing full well that he would not win. His response was not satisfying that speaks a lot about the SW. |
President Jonathan cannot forget the tribalistic remarks of Tinubu said about him. The SW people only care about themselves. They do not care about others and definitely do not care about the Niger Delta. Remember it was an Igbo who created the 'SS' political region. ![]() SE/SS onward progressing!
Who are you ?. Are you a politician or are you in PDP. Obasanjo destroyed PDP in Lagos and the whole of SW yes he did but it does not mean PDP will punish the SW, for what reason if I may ask ?. If the SW is punished by PDP, then that's it. There is not way they can win the SW again. Then again, you post like a child I do not expect you to understand this things. |
seanet02:Omo oko ni e |
gokuu:Just because PDP wants to win lagos does not mean they have to create tension among the ethnic groups in the state. I said igbos stand to lose because most of you claim to have high population in lagos. If PDP pushes this, Lagos will be hellish for all ethnic groups. I voted for Fashola and Jonathan even though my father is a PDP member which shows I perfer development rather than ethnic or party politics. Now I just hope PDP will not take advantage of igbos in lagos and use them against development. |
gokuu:From your post I can bet you are not from Lagos or probably a settler. My father is a strong PDP man in lagos and he works very closely with Bode George, Wahab Dosummu among others. Now I am not talking from a position ignorance neither do I want to be perceived as a tribalist. If PDP present an igbo governor for lagos state, not only will they lose but if the igbo community rally around that man they would lose as well. Now if ethnic politics is brought to lagos by any ethnic group be it hausa or igbo it would be known in history that a well organised state was brought down by tribalism due to the sellfish interest of igbo or hausa. Lastly, be careful of what you post on the Internet and yes Jimi is a good choice. |
yorubanized edo may mingle quite well with yorubas- it doesnt mean they forgot or dont acknowledge their origins. some edos feel yorubas force them to adopt a yoruba identity [i read that somewhere]. I think that's quite wrong and the misconception should be cleared up. as far as I know, even yorubas with partial non-yoruba ancestry up to the third of fourth generation, still know their non-yoruba history, how much more non-integrated ones. and just for the record, edos also mingle equally well with a lot of other tribes too- igbo and hausa for instance.
That is correct my sister At PhysicsMHD Dele Giwa is an edo man but was more incline to yorubas for some reason that are obvious but he always acknowledge his edo lineage. Also you as an edo man should be happy that the mixture between yorubas and edo is working well even to the extent that some people do not know the difference between edo and yoruba. |
The main problem in the SW is their jealousy and envy, once they get past that then it'll be good for them.
Yes the SW has many problems but it is not jealousy and envy. |
Dede1:Dede1 or whatever you call yourself, you must be mentally sick to utter such words. So because we did not go all out killing hausa/fulani and igbos makes us cowards. I guess we would show how brave we are by killing like uncultured Almajiris isn't it ?. See how senseless that sounds. |
