ezeagu:No we would go on our terms and conditions. Nigeria will not let yorubas go just like that. Wait the time is right |
htajz:I most certainly I agree with you. As i said earlier we view igbos, ijaw, hausa/fulani the same. We are not partial, we are neutrals. We do not play partitian politics and most certainly we are not ethnic or religious bigots. Just make sure non of you people whether hausa or ijaw take any part of yorubaland and then we would go in peace. Otherwise we would remain in this union and frustrate all of you tell you let us go with our land. As you can see yorubas rarely invest in other places apart from the SW. I pray and wish your country with igbos and other groups in the SS the best of luck in this unity you have found. |
I am Yoruba and I am with igbos on this one. Soon after they will start killing yorubas as well. Moreover why can't a SS or SE person be the president or are they not part of this country ? . In as much as we hate to take sides because of the blood and heritage in us, we should stick with SS in this one since we are one country. |
Hamid O:LOL OYO ni gbo gbo yin wa hmmmm I think we should be fair here southerners view us as betrayers, it is only a matter of time before they kill Yoruba as well. Oje ka ma suro pelu inu kan ati oto(truth) . Awon gambari were ne won, o je ka ja ko to bere si ma pa awon yoruba na. |
Hamid O:Guy I am yoruba as well and I do not support the killing of Southerners. We yorubas should stand with Igbos and other southerners in this madness northerners are doing. We are together on this one |
GOOD The SW will not be conjoined into this mainstream politics the whole country is playing, all we need are good governors and we are fine. Maybe every 20 years or so we can contest to be the president for bragging rights but that about it. SW people especially the youths should try and make the SW region the best in the country. That's all |
EzeUche:Learn to respect Yorubas and avoid ethnocentric post or topic. Ok |
Good but who are the people that are going to be living on the island. It is clear it is the rich people of the society. Still good for Nigeria as a whole. God bless Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa. God bless Eko and Nigeria |
bashr4:1.) Stop insulting us and our great leader Awolowo, give him the respect he earned because of his policies you and I are enjoying from in SW Nigeria development 2.) Anything about biafra, please stop mentioning yoruba killed us, yoruba betrayed us it is very annoying because you fought against Nigeria which includes ijaw, itsekiri, edo among other not against yoruba alone 3.) Stop screaming Yoruba are "bad or are this and that" all over the internet 4.) Stop bogus claims of igbos developed lagos slogan or lagos is a no mans land. it is also annoying or irritating 5.) Stop Ezeuche from posting he is doing more harm than good for igbos on the Internet 6.) Stop calling lagos a slum or call lagos a dirty place because igbos and other Nigerians made it so. 7.) Quit posting false population figures on the internet about your population of lagos because we hate it and it can lead to violence 8.) Stop calling your yoruba friends Yoruba or Yoruba on the internet, I dare any igbo to do that in the real world 9.) Quit blaming yorubas for everything, that is annoying as well 10.) Try to form bonds with us as we are doing the same with igbos 11.) Let's be mature and have mutual respect for each other. 12.) WE SIMPLY LOVE IGBOS ONLY IF THEY CAN LOVE US BACK. |
EzeUche:The problem with you is that you think "Yorubas hate igbos" or "are trying to bring down igbos" which by the way is far from the truth. A political unity is happening between yorubas and igbos daily. This unity is hard to achieve because of people like you and that is why it has to be taken step by step. It may take years but it would happen. Your Ohaneze have been disgracing igbos in Nigeria; you need to see how people including the igbos in lagos view this people. They are a total disgrace to the igbo population according to my igbo family members words. The sooner you and others like you stop viewing the west as your enemy but your friends the better it is for both igbos and yorubas. |
EzeUche:I bet igbos do not see Lagos as big slum. We Yorubas as a collective unit are know to develop any city we chose to make our home. Take a look at Ibadan back in those days, it was a known fact that Ibadan was the biggest African city both commercial and economically. There were igbos and hausa people rushing to OYO back in those days. Now it is time for lagos to be seen to Yorubas as a commercial hub. I as an Awori man can categorically tell you that the most developed state in Nigeria today is Lagos; not because of oil or anything but because of the collective effort of the Yorubas from Ekiti, Awori, Ibadan, Kwara and some Edo people. As the great sage said before he die, "The Yorubas have been place in a very good geographical location" . Please the Awori people were never under the impression that Lagos is for them but instead they were under the impression that Lagos is a Yoruba city for all yorubas to meet and trade. It was never the FG that built Lagos but the tax and other welfare development that built lagos. I have also seen in some of you post which claims that Lagos is develop today because of the igbo population in the state. Well that is a lie. Thank you sir and becareful of what you say on this forum. |
^-- I'm aware of Kwara and Kogi, very sympathetic to the cause of the middle belt, ND, and even the SE and North. But we first have to save ourselves before we save others.
ekt_bear thank you for your views on this thread. If ekiti is developing I believe all yorubas can go in there for greener pastures. I do not see anything wrong with you discussion with ileke_idi. We yorubas from awori to ekiti have to realise that we are one. If lagos, Ibadan or any other yoruba city is developed, other yorubas are free to settle there. In lagos an Osun man (Tinubu) was the governor of the state which shows that we are uniting. We have a lot of Oyo and Ekiti people in lagos today. The point I am driving at is we should not look at inter ethnic sentiment but Yoruba interest as a whole. Thank you |
I thought Tinubu was a rascal, why make a deal with a rascal unless he is also one of them |
Awon omo kwara la ti gba ijoba kuro lowo PDP ACN ni ka ja fun, eyi omo odudua |
That is probably EWE language in GHANA a sub group of yoruba language just like the Itsekiri or Igala. Quite interesting to know that yoruba kingdom was even up to GHANA and yes; be proud of your language and hertiage GOD BLESS BOBO OMO ODUADUA NI NIGERIA A TI OKE OKU |
I can comfortably say igbos are the most tribalistic Nigerians. There is no yoruba presence in this thread, yet they call the yoruba man "Ofe mannu" but of you just misspelt their Ethnic name "Ibo", they start screaming on top of their lungs. Some have total disregard for other ethnic groups. As for Onlylies and Alex Check Egift's initial post on this forum before you reach you stup.id conclusion that he is Yoruba. Go on an check his profile, Tribal Idio.ts! Egift, you are truly a gift to your parents. May God continue to guide you. You are an Igbo man but a man among men. Your de-tribalised view will be the beginning of something greater in this country. With people like you, yorubas and igbos might eventually meet at river Niger and shake hands. BTW, in case you are having doubts, why are the yorubas not supporting Ribadu as they do with Buhari Think about it! If Buhari had selected an Igbo Vice, he would have command the same support. Most of us Nigerians are tired of PDP. No one cares about your ethnicity, just go there and fix things up is what we want and Buhari is the answer to curb corruption!!! Once again, May almightly God bless you!!! Amen! |
londoner:That's right most Yoruba's would not want to reside in the East for reasons you might find offensive to as an igbo woman but be objective about it. 1.) Most Yoruba's I know of including me are scared of the horrific things we have heard of the East such as kidnapping, rituals and cannibalism. 2.) Most Yoruba's are also scared of the fact that the locals in those areas will stigmatize them and moreover the language barrier is still there. 3.) It is not economical valuable to leave the comfort of the South-west and go to South-east. I hope you do not take offence to this because that is the truth. I guess it is because we have never been to the East that is why we are thinking like this. I would visit the East one day because of my GF ![]() |
@step1: Thanks for the information. Much appreciated. You are right, God has blessed Yorubaland heavily.
You are welcome
^^^ And all of Nigeria shall benefit. Fair enough?
Yes you are right all Nigerians will benefit from it. I mean all Nigerians are benefitting from Lagos all ready or ain't they |
Anyway, let no man ever say again that Yorubaland is mooching from the rest of Nigeria (the SS in particular). Honestly, from all the silly propoganda I read on this site, I thought the oil reserves in Ondo were like 1% of Nigeria's total. . . not a whole 10%! And that is oil alone, not to talk of natural gas. Any of ya'll who want fiscal federalism. . . absolutely fine by me
I do not mean to interupt your discussion but it is very sad to see how people bring out propaganda about Yoruba's being the parasite of this country. In Lagos alone, there are a lot of oil reserve from the lagoon to the Atlantic ocean.Needless to say, I am a proud Yoruba tokan tokan and I thank my God for making me Yoruba man in a country like Nigeria. The Yoruba council of elders and Awori union have made an agreement with the federal government to have only 1 oil drilling company at a time in Lagos. This is to ensure that there will not be any environmental disaster in the region especially Lagos as it is home for all Yoruba's. The revenue Lagos gets is mainly from the tax of sure oil companies and also from other big companies like dangote and Globacom etc. This lies about igbos tax is xx% is so insignificant to what this companies and Aso oke sellers give. I would give an estimate of 2% maximum of the total tax is gotten from igbo people in lagos but that is another discussion. Dapo I do not know if u are in Nigeria, but know that your people are God blessed and do not depend on the federal government for any assistance. The money Lagos generate alone is enough to fund the whole South-west region's election as you see from ACN. I really do not know much about Ondo. |
ikeyman00:From your post, I can deduce that you know nothing about south west politics. Yorubas especially my people the Aworis love igbos very much. If it was even an igbo VP that was presented, people will still vote for Buhari. Please I am saying this to you and your brothers not to ethnocentric in your views, it does us no good. What affects an average igbo man affects an average yoruba man as well. How come you igbos on nairaland don't see this things that are as clear as day. |
Gr8Animash:May the lord be with you. Amen. Good write up |
Why would anyone justify her, lacking the ability to speak good English after spending 12 yrs in the corridor of power; makes no sense. No one is tell her to speak perfect English but her command of English has to be average or up to standard. Why would the first lady of a multicultural country like Nigeria, not able to speak good English when addressing the public ? |
I am an awori man myself and any yoruba man that is silly enough to vote for Tinubu's family from Sade to his wife to him to even his son in-law: SMH |
Do you Yorubas from other parts of Yorubaland have an ancestral claim to Lagos? It is a honest question. Or, because the people who claim ownership are a Yoruba clan, than all Yorubas have a claim to Lagos?
Yes, I as an awori man will still perfer an ekiti or ibadan man to rule my people than any other group. Ezeuche, we yorubas are one. I do not care even if he is from benin republic, so long as he is yoruba and has yoruba name that is fine by me and my people. Although he has to be a good person . If an ibo man is better than him then I would perfer the ibo man but if they are at par then it this the yoruba man. Ezeuche, we yorubas are one so long as we are still in Nigeria. So if ilaja from ondo state want to be the governor of lagos, that is fine by me so long as the people like him. If an okun man want to be governor of lagos that is also fine. If a yorubaized ibo wants to be the governor that is fine as well. As you can see the common factor here is for him to be yorubaized, love the people whether yoruba or ibo and be good. |
I see no reason why this argument is prolonged, why are my yoruba brothers auguring with this people. It is clearly that if it continues like this violence will start that's all. Ezeuche or whatever you call yourself, the ijaws, isoko etc will not fight alone side ibos. Moreover why are ibos and yorubas going to fight . I mean, fight over lagos. We will rather use the ijaws and ibos in lagos to fight again you village ibos than us fighting. Do you see reason now. Why do you think lagos is in south-west nigeria. Do you think it was by mistake or fortune. Ezeuche use you brain more, stop using you body or so called ibo manliness to think.I will suggest ohaneze use there position of eze indigbo of lagos wisely and make bonds with the people instead of trying to give conditions. Ohaneze or Chief Uche has no ibo interest in heart, they are all after money and power just like other groups. Where was ohaneze last year were lagos ibo vs alaba ibo were fighting ? Where were they when ibos were killed in jos and northern states. Now do you see reason. Claim down, talk like a diplomat and think. Remember the east is not united and that is how you ibos lost the war because of the so called ijaw, isoko, ikwerri, efik and others that you trust; they stopped your people from reaching the sea or ports so as to get weapons or food. Now I have ibo family members, ibo friends but they are not as loud mouth as you people here. If an ibo man what to rule lagos, that is fine by me but he has to forget his village mentality and become a lagosian like other ibos and yorubas in lagos. As one of the previous posters rightly said, you can not wear a winter red hat and where the chair cover clothe and expect people in lagos to say "my governor" not now, not ever. |
joeyfire:I believe he is not inciting violence but tell you the plain truth. Moreover and so if he is what can you do about it ? |
I dont really get this part about each one of you threatning violence. I am tempted to think that every yoruba person on the street deeply wishes there will be violence but I am sure its just you guys on NL. I relate very well with my yoruba friends and i believe they are not like that. Dont get mad. There are enough mad people in the country and nairaland already.
Guy I have ibo friends as well in Lagos and I would not wish anything to happen to them or their families just because of Ohaneze. That said, I believe ibos in lagos are smarter than that not ohaneze. Also there is one thing i can comfirm to you, If ibos push their luck there will be riots in which I MYSELF WILL BE PART OF IT REGRADLESS OF MY IBO FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS, just to show you how bad it is. I hope it does not get to that stage, I strongly believe we can all live in peace whether yoruba, ibo, hausa etc. But if pushed, there will be riots and both parties whether ibo or yoruba will lose a lot. As some of you ibos say " lagos is a no-mans-land" well we aworis say " ta ni baba e ni eko, odee eko, o mo eyo" meaning " who is your father in lagos, if you have not been to lagos, you do not know eyo festival". I guess that speaks volume on the cultural aspect of lagos ![]() |
