The bolded to me is just stupid to me

The reason why I say that is that in my opinion, a real hustler with a normal heart and a balanced brain will NOT lose focus in life because of a riff raff.

Life is a race, run your own race.

Dont look at anybody (especially one suspected of being illegal)

Live your life and try your best
That's all
One of the best comments I have read here. The day I realized that we're all different was the day I got my freedom. Everyone has to discover his path and follow it without looking at what others are doing, except those who have passed through the same path and those who remind him of the benefits of working hard.

As someone building an online business, I consider Seen and Linda Ikeji as my model/desired mentors. I'm no footballer, but I also consider CR7 as a role model because he reminds me of the benefits of working hard.

Aside from these two groups of people, I see no reason to have any business with how others are running their lives, let alone making me to lose focus.

If someone else's life makes him lose focus, he wasn't focused in the first place!

I believe that all pastors are fake — no exceptions. What they display as miracles are fake.

But you can pastor yourself. Have a relationship with your creator, and your everyday life will be a miracle. You will see the hand of God in the pain and joy of each day.

Good one. They're too many these days. Sit down and learn some useful skills that would make you resourceful to the world, No!

How someone want to make money without offering value beats my imagination. The worst is that they're supported by their parents.

Like Acidosis always say, until they begin to jail their parents too, this evil mentality will keep spreading. Teenagers now adore crime and see it as a way to make a living. God have mercy.

Flier:
I don’t know where you guys want Buhari to get money without borrowing and I am sure Atiku would have done the same
Almost every nation on earth is in debt at the moment
America have been printing money non stop for 4 months now and still not enough
Close to 9 trillion dollars printed already and they are still contemplating printing more
Gej and okonjo started borrowing when oil was $65 per barrel and you are telling Buhari not to borrow when oil was 19$ barrel, the worse is there was no one to buy it
Buhari is clueless but when it comes to our economic situation,he has no choice than to borrow otherwise you all will starve to death
Comparing Nigeria to US when it comes to debt is a funny display of ignorance. As at now (because digital currencies may take over in the future), USD is the main currency for international trades. So, the US can afford to print more dollars to offset their debt, but Nigeria can't afford to print more naira to offset their foreign debt.

Isnt it absolute stupidity for a state with so much unemployment, zero power supply, and absolutely no infrastructure, to ware house 75 billion in a cormercial bank like diamond bank.. while bankers wont even borrow the money out to Anambra indegene but to the likes of Dangote and Rabiu of Biu groups

75billion would construct a gas pipeline from Imo gas flaring fields, build a 1000 Megawatt Thermal/gas turbine power station and give Anambra 24/7 electricity with enough to sell to other state while their industries drastically develop

a Bank Boss Start hailing you, then they don chop you mugus, alex otti is just thanking you customer dada who would save money rather than develop and make more money

.
What you fail to understand is that the way Nigeria is structured, power is in the exclusive list. States can't just start building power projects without federal approval. It's not even possible to build and sell via the national grid to other states. If it was possible, most state governments would have done so by now.

The way Nigeria is structured is its main impediment to growth and development!

Anybody with some knowledge of epidemiology knows that Covid-19 will eventually explode in Nigeria. My concern here is the 17.2% positive result among the tested individuals. And not as if we are good with isolation and contact tracing.

Luckily, the death rate is below 3%. Nevertheless, we can't wait for the vaccine! God help us all!

Thanks for your concern bro. I later went back home. Now, I want to believe that things are getting calm, though I overheard 3 of them talking yesterday (a 60+ old man living opposite my house across the street, one jobless young man living beside him, and another 60+ old man living down the street) — the first man telling them something like "owo still waa laptop"

Though my rent not due until October, I'm planning to leave the place to an area where people are making better income.

If he's guilty, thank God he's caught! Those evil creatures need to be taken out of our society. While I don't know his sources of income, I know that a lot of Nigerians are into fraud, and it's damaging our collective image.

Even those of us in legitimate online businesses are treated as fraudsters because fraud is now so rampant that people don't believe again that it's possible to do legitimate online business from home.

I know the persecutions I have suffered from neighbors and the people in my area, most of whom are frustrated fraudster projecting their image on another person. Sit down, put in the hardwork, and learn a legitimate skills that you can freelance online; NO, they wouldn't do that. they're looking for format. A bunch of lazy fools.

I completely agree with Mr President: a lot of Nigerian youths are lazy!
TravelRe: Fraudsters: STOP Asking Your Kins Abroad To Help You Aid Your Selfish Interests! by studentofTruth: 12:39am On Jun 10, 2020
0kinographix:
Internet fraud has made life very difficult for legit youths trying to earn legally here in 9ja.
In other countries, not everyone is into 9-5 jobs
Some pple earn(big) from playing games(twitch streamers, soccer, etc)
Some are youtubers
Some are social media influencers
Some are into cryptocurrencies
Some are freelancers
Some are models
... and so much more, just mention it.
Now the problem is due to the fact that many youths here already engage in internet fraud, no one would believe you really earn legally from stuff like these (mentioned above) and as such make it very hard to encourage the youth to try out new things.
An average parent here in Nigeria believes in education and handwork(mostly hard vocational skills). No doubt handwork is good, but the statistics of those who have become multimillionaires from handwork is way much lower than those earning averagely from it.
Now I would relate my point to this topic.
Personally I'm a graphic designer and freelancer with years of experience and I will categorically say that foreign clients pay better than Nigerian clients.
Now how do you get foreign clients to pay you directly to your local bank after a successful job done to his/her satisfaction ? Most of these foreign countries are used to PAYPAL and CASHAPP in sending money worldwide. Here comes the problem. A Nigerian PAYPAL account cannot receive funds from a foreign country so imagine after working you can't get your money because you're a NIGERIAN.
So what are now your options, you look for someone who is over there for help...
Just imagine working legitimately and can't get you pay just because you're a nigerian
.
.
.
To be continued
I have work to do
I can relate to all you have said. Worst of it all is people calling you a fraudster just because you work from home with a laptop.

Why are you living in fear?
A neighbor leaked my Upwork profile to the youths in the community. Seeing the total earnings over the last 17 months got their poor heads swollen. Ignorant them can't use their heads or even ask Google to understand that total earnings doesn't mean that the money is intact — I have been using that money for feeding and other needs. After the incident last night, I upgraded to the Plus plan to keep my earnings private. Now, they think I withdrew all the money at once — I have started hearing their comments. I really don't know how this night will be.

This has been my concern as well. I will be rounding up NYSC in a couple of month's time; few months into service year, I was able to get hold of some relevant info, which spurred me to test the waters of freelancing. Luckily enough for me, I succeeded and have been consistently raking nothing below 1000$ for the past few months; I earned above 2000$ at some point. The problem is living life after NYSC. I studied a medical-related course; however, no job in my field can afford to earn me my current earnings for a start; Heck, I'm even earning salaries of workers in managerial roles of multinationals. Given how primitive minded Nigerians are, especially the elderly civil servants, most of whom grin with envy when they see a young lad living the life. Most of them spent several years in service before they could afford a decent car (corolla sports) and a 3-bedroom flat built on loan, which they end up paying back through their noses for several decades.
My brother, if I tell you what I'm facing right now, you won't believe it. The envy, bitterness, rancour, and campaign of calumny is just unbearable.

My advice is to be mindful of where you live. A friend advised me to move to the Island. Though the cost of living is higher over there, I'm considering that seriously. So, live where there are predominantly more people earning above your income!

One more thing, on no occasion should you make your earnings public — even under false accusations of fraud. That's my greatest mistake. I was stupid to think that showing them how I make my money would make them stop. It got worse — they started calling Upwork fraud. Every day, they masturbate over my Upwork profile, checking how my earnings are increasing! I started displaying Upwork profiles of Nigerians who are earning far more, but they don't care. The bitterness is boiling by the day! It has turned to a tribal thing — they now discuss in Yoruba, planning what to do to me.

I know I may get killed at any moment. I hope I make it to Lekki alive!

2. Prevent, Rather than Cure never get into any troubles
3. Try to Address the Issue Yourself The steps you’ll take will depend on the seriousness of what’s being said about you and how far and fast it’s spreading, but it’s wise to try tackling the issue yourself first.

I'm like you in terms of being an introverted private individual too. I did a 9-5 job for a year and a half before getting disillusioned with the whole thing and left the place.

If you know me, you would know that I'm not the type that shows off. I'm one introverted private individual. I have just one friend in my neighborhood.

I work from home and I keep my business to myself. None of my neighbors know about my business.

During the lockdown, we had a serious power outage, so I bought a bigger Gen that can carry my fridge — it's fully stocked for the lockdown. They started questioning my source of income, gossiping and spreading false rumour about me

I decided to make my business public by using my Upwork profile on my WhatsApp DP. They went and dug out how much I'm making, and since then, their bitterness knows no bounds (even +60 years old men among them) — Imagine calling Upwork fraud! None of them even considers the hard work it took to build a Top-rated status; all they look at is the earning, which, to them, means a lot but, to me, is very small that I can't even think of marriage with the income level.

The career dilemma...

Many years ago I was where you are now.

I took the road less traveled. I settled for a career in Nigeria.

I got a job in a Big 4. Then moved on to an FMCG, where the perks are much higher!

On education, I got chartered, and I'm finishing an MBA.

On family, I got married to my best friend from University, and I just made my first baby.

Do I regret not moving to the US to join my mom, a US citizen?

I do. Every. Single. Minute.

Why? Nigeria is a very uncertain place to stay and thrive. You could be up there in the sky today and the next week you're back on the mud. In a country of many poor people, you run the risk of becoming a victim of crime due to envy...post COVID-19 it'll get worse.

Look at you at 30. You're dithering. You're pussyfooting.

Look at me at 28. I still regret the mistake my 25 year old self made. I'm pushing daily to leave Nigeria.

I want to leave, not because I'm broke in Nigeria, but the collective poverty in this country scares me...

Most crimes committed today are more out of envy and hunger than of greed.

If you can, please run. For your SAFETY!
I can relate to what you have just said, especially the poverty-induced envy and jealousy. Presently, I live in fears. Since the people around me learned what I earn from my young online business, it's has been about bitterness- and jealousy-induced calumny. I just realized that living among lazy poor people is the most dangerous thing in this world.

I wonder how Linda Ikeji and Instablog coped in their early days.

@Op, with the kind of link you have to Canada, I really wonder what you're doing in Nigeria thinking of federal job — not as if you're even thinking of business. Canada straight!

God bless you my brother, efcc needs to sensitize the public that not everyone with a laptop uses it for criminal work.
Some of us offer really valuable services on the foreign market.

The issue now is so bad that once a Nigerian sees you with a laptop they automatically assume you are a criminal.
I have personally ditched my laptop for an iPadpro because this.
It's really sad.
I understand you perfectly well. I know the stigma I have in my area. But I'm not going to dish my laptop for anybody.

I'm planning to write an open letter to our able minister of "digital economy", but I have been extremely busy during this lockdown — every freelancing platform is experiencing a surge in orders.

What is digital about the economy if digital devices are seen as criminal tools?

In my area, they have tagged me a Yahoo person — anywhere I pass now I see eyeballs (even 15year old kids) directed at me and murmuring, "he has collected." Collected from where? Is there a well of money anywhere? They don't understand that money is made by offering services and products to people and getting paid for it.

Now, I realized it was a mistake showing my neighbors my Upwork profile to enlighten them on the services I offer online. Both ignorance and envy can't allow them sleep in peace since then. Gossip and long faces everywhere; outright stupid talks from youths in the street!
CrimeRe: EFCC Returns $4040 To Brazilian Lady Scammed By Yahoo Boy by studentofTruth:
While I commend the EFCC if this news is true, I want EFCC to use the clout they have generated to change the narrative. Our youths no longer believe that anything useful can be done with a laptop. Everyone now sees a laptop as a criminal tool — even teenagers! Don't be surprised if you ask your 16-year old son what a laptop is used for and he tells you Yahoo Yahoo — it has got that bad!

Nobody believes that money can be legitimately made online again. Even after seeing my Upwork profile as a top-rated freelancer with 100% score, they still call it fraud.

Use the clout you have generated to teach our youths the right thing. Teach them that the sweet way to make money is by creating value for others —when you offer value to people, they pay you for it!

Channel they energy of our youths to developing skills and learning services they can offer to the world to make money. The data our youths spend on watching slay mamas on Instagram and other useless videos can be used to watch useful YouTube videos that can teach them good skills in graphics designer, animation videos, web development, and other digital skills, as well as services like minimportation and dropshipping. Indians and Chinese make a lot of foreign currency exporting their services online. The internet has truly made the world a global village.

EFCC use your platform to lead our youths in the right direction. Don't just criminalize laptops and other digital gadgets!

I have been saying this for long, and I will keep shouting it!
