Daguccizgreat: I have hated crime all my life and I condemn fraud entirely but if you look critically into this matter you will have little blame for SOME of those boys into fraud. I was in a hotel sometime ago and I came to meet some niggas having a drinking section in the same hotel. One thing led to the other and we started talking. One of them told me something that made my thought about yahoo boys to change. He graduated in 2006 and was job hunting for more than 4 years all to avail. He told me he comes from a very strong Christian home and detest anything crime but his head turned after he lost his mom who was carrying the family financial burdens because his dad is blind. Life became very tough and at a point his father too passed away leaving him and 5 younger ones with no means to feed. All the while his friends have been advising him to join up but he strongly refused because it's against his belief. Eventually he joined because to him it's better to die trying to survive than watching poverty destroy you. Life is very deep and mysterious A lame excuse. Any genuine and hard-working fellow will always find something useful he can offer to the world and get rewarded for it. For your index case, do you want to tell me that with all his education, physical strength, and talent, there's nothing of value he can offer to the world except to deceive and steal? I don't believe it! The problem, to me, is from laziness, lack of self worth, get-rich-quick syndrome, greed, and most importantly, the fanfare generated by th criminals in uniform that claim to be fighting crime. Remember, every publicity is good publicity. Our lazy youths, even teenagers, now see this crime as a trendy thing. Ask a 15-year-old what a laptop is used for, and he will tell you it's yahoo yahoo. Now, how will that boy aspire to be a badass programmer or software engineer when he thinks that laptops are only used for yahoo yahoo? Both the government (with all their poorly trained agencies) and the citizens need to be reoriented to save Nigeria from this disaster! |

olisaEze: American Public: Is he a fraudster?
FBI: He’s still innocent. But we have tracked some suspicious online activities to an email registered and operated by him. On so so date, he was in Abuja at Hotel de Jordan room 362 between 05:00 PM to 06:00 AM, and said email account used in defrauding Alhaja Indimi of $30,000 in a love scam was pinged with google to the location Hotel de Jordan at 03:46AM West African time room 362.
American Public: So he’s guilty.
FBI: We haven’t said that, only the court can determine that.
Nigerian public: Wetin e do?
EFCC: Na thief! Fraudster! 419!! Na im dey cause all d problem for Nigeria!! No electricity, na im fault! Dollar is now N477, na im fault!
Nigerian public: How u take know? What’s ur proof?
EFCC: He owns a Benz, an iPhone and a laptop at 23yrs. Can u imagine!
Nigerian public: Did you catch him in d act?
EFCC: Do u think we’re amateurs? We saw him in d car! After very rigorous investigations, we are giving him a 99 count charge & are confident that the courts will find him guilty. Funny, but it's a pity what we have here. It shows how poorly our lawyers are doing. If they spend more than their yearly budget paying for damages for wrongful arrest, they will learn to do things the right way. |

people think that I'm into yahoo because I work from home with a laptop, and I'm hyper-dedicated to my work and personal development ( learning more digital skills) — can stay indoors for a week or more.
I used to see it as an insult on my person — I mean, with my level of education, intelligence, talent, and resourcefulness, I have nothing to offer to the world than look for who to steal from!
But now, I realized that they are only expressing who they are and their level of intelligence. I feel pity for them. |

Horerku: My dad was once sick (4years back), he was admitted at lasuth and during the time i was with him there, i tried getting medical help but it was a very regrettable experience. After using hours and days at family clinic (i get there by 7 and see doctor by 11 or 12), I was referred to their endocrine section. But the problem was first time i visit the endocrine cos they open only Tuesday and Thursday i met a doctor who examined me (in front of students o) and asked me to run some tests which amount to 45k (6 tests). I did the tests and next appointment was two weeks later. Next time i went there with the tests, i met another doctor who just browsed through my file and results and instead of prescribing drug or say u go through this treatment he wrote another test which was 65k (2 tests). I did this too and was asked to come again in 2 weeks almost 120k on test alone. Believe me you next time i went again they were on strike and the lady at the records gave me a month appointment, after the strike i went and when i will see doctor again, it was not any of the first 2 doctors . Although this was an elderly woman, asked me questions, went through my files, checked first test results and second one, brought out one thing like big beads like this and checked my throat. After all those guess what? She asked me to go for another test again. The price of this was 145k! I was broke already i spent saving for house rent on inconclusive tests and I'm asked to go for a new one. I just kept crying in the bus till i got home cos i feel swindled and punished for what is not my fault. I tore the hospital card and never went back there. Because if the tests were that expensive how much with the treatment be? Reason I'm trying to see if i can see a private hospital doctor that will help me out. I almost ended my life after my experience at lasuth i don't if luth won't be same old story. Sorry about that. Health care is expensive everywhere. |

Horerku: Hi all, i have been a guest on NL for a long time but seeing this thread https://www.nairaland.com/6069700/look-too-young-find-it makes me want to come out and share what has been giving me serious headache.
I will be 28 in a month but i have not been able to hit puberty fully. Can count how many strand of hair on my pp, no armpit hair, no facial changes used to be short then i start growing from like 5.7' to 6.5'. No lies it's a very big disgrace when kids that will see my junior brother and bow their heads expect me to call them egbon.
But I have worked on my self esteem, gave myself confidence by reading inspirational books, learnt boxing, build my body, learnt dancing and i can very well say all this have really boost my confidence, i built my confidence by writing job application to jobs i know im over qualified for and intentionally bully the unlucky hr that will interview me . I am able to read people and give good advices, as a matter of fact, i (despite my baby face) take adult Sunday School at church and I'm able to take my classes like a piece of cake (With God enabling me btw).
Never dated or toast before not cos im scared of being turned down inface i have a lot of babes that really show me emotions but because I'm scared of how the girl will act towards me when she find out my secret and i am gonna keep it that way because i can't really take heartbreak because of something i can't control. I already have a good paying Job and finances not my problem so this is my only headache but will i still become normal? Have you overcome something like this? Or do you know how i can correct things?

This reportage is extremely stupid and very dangerous for the future of this country.
His excellency the VP was just talking about using technology to solve problems and challenging Nigerians to come up with solutions. How is that possible when our security agents tag laptops and other digital gadgets criminal tools. All they have done is to criminalize these digital tools.
In today's Nigeria, can you comfortably sit down under the mango tree and work with a laptop without the people around thinking you are a Yahoo or whatever you call it. But what I read in Seun's biography was that he created Nairaland while playing with his laptop under the mango tree in his Ota home.
My question to the VP is this: Can smart enterprising young Nigerians still work freely with their laptops in their rooms, garages, or under the mango tree because those places are where the technology you are looking is created Sir!
Check them: Bill gate started in his garage; Mark Zuckerberg started in his room; our very own Seun started under a mango tree.
#Make Nigeria safe for the smart productive one! The criminalization of digital gadgets should stop. All these media sensationalism is not going to do anyone any good.
A point to note: Most smart tech guys are introverts, and many are planning to leave this country because they can't stand being tagged fraudsters and have their image decimated on the media for doing what they love!
EFCC and whatever they call themselves should do their job discreetly: Mount surveillance, investigate, and charge culprits to court. All these media sensationalism won't anyone any good!
I rest my case. |

pocohantas: I will never understand that part. The other one is “bankers are useless outside the bank”.
Is a doctor useful outside the hospital? Or is a lawyer useful outside legal duties? Except they work in a designated unit in another sector. This is where some “bankers“ have an edge. Why would anyone be useful outside the bank because they can count money or fill account opening forms?
Someone said a HR is not a “banker“, but a HR can have opportunities to function in HR units across sectors. Same way a core staff can jump from one bank to another. The ones with meaningful experience or skills enter some private organizations to assume supervisory roles. Ex-bankers should stop demonizing the industry that gave majority of them hope and money to buy their first set of good-looking clothes and cars. It's all about personal development. Many doctors are useful outside the hospital. Same with lawyers and other professionals. |

The made a mistake by not adding a home delivery service to their services. Just to have an ecommerce website where busy people like us can place orders and have it delivered to us. It makes things easier for everyone, and it won't take them much because they already have their system in place (warehousing and storage) — just to coordinate online orders with home/work delivery.
Locals have turned their place to a sight-seeing center. Busy people who do the real shopping can't stand spending hours just for shopping.
For instance, I wanted to go for shopping on Saturday, but remembered that it's a period of Salah celebration and postponed it because of the experience I had around Salah period 3 years ago where I had to turn back on seeing the crowd just waiting outside the door to gain entrance.
The new owners should develop a better model, or they can get in touch for great ideas! |

Christianity Etc › Re: Why I May Choose To Become An Atheist by studentofTruth: 11:34am On Jul 30, 2020 |
The problem is religion. Separate God from religion, and you will have your freedom.
Religion, especially Christianity, is only an exhibition of hypocrisy and stupidity. The smart and eloquent ones are making money instigating fear and selling hope with all the charade they call miracles.
Interestingly, it's the best business in Nigeria — very legal and protected by the government and the financial system. A tax haven, thrives in all seasons, not affected by recession!
If I was an extrovert and can look someone in the face and tell a beautiful lie, I would have started the business myself.
I advised my friend who is extroverted and very good with telling lies to start the business, but he's still dulling himself in deeper life.
Bro if you can, start the business. It's good to be on the side where the money is made than on the side of the consumers. If you're on that side, you won't be thinking too much — just sell them hope and collect your pay (offerings, tithes, donations, book sales, gifts, etc.)
As for God's existence, yes, there's God — Make no mistake about that. He asked us to dominate the world. |

All I can see in these comments is the fear of the innocent that the system created a trap for them and on the other side, the criminal minded fellows are wishing they're the ones that have that loophole in their hands.
But why can't the government take care of this loophole once and for and save the innocent citizens of being abused by corrupt law enforcement officers, as well as block the criminals of gaining access to people's hard earned money?

First one: Tax lawyer in a foreign country. Quite accomplished. Doesn't want children. Open to cohabitation. Loves me. The oldest of the three
Second one. Engineer with top 3 oil multinational. Wants children. Loves me. Wants to get married asap. Highly driven and ambitious. Religious. Not open to cohabitation. Least attractive
Third one. Secretary at no-name company in Lagos. Wants children. Loves me. Still quite young. The youngest actually. Not so driven. Seems satisfied with job role and not seeking further prospects. Religious. Not open to cohabitation. Most attractive.
Me. Don't care for children. May or may not want. Very late 20's. Open to cohabitation. A little religious. Open to both cohabitation and marriage.
Who would you choose? Push the first one to me. The world is already overpopulated. The second will be fine for you. |

What the immigration service did to those doctors is nothing more than what satan does when something good is about to come your way.
Nigeria is dead and no sane human would build his or her future around a country that can't project where it would be in the next 5 years.
NB: For each time I type on Nairaland, I only but weep. A site that has so much goodwill but its operators possess an archaic posture to 'improvement'. They post bad stuff about governance every day on this site but have remained inept and incapable of moving forward, resistant to change.

benji93: US/Canada is a lot higher? When considering migrating to a different country, you better not just think about the salary. The cost of living and growth are other factors you may want to consider. Besides this moment what Nigeria needs are innovators, people that can start something up, especially in Tech. If your friend is quite good and he's got a creative independent mind, maybe he should consider starting something up. Nigeria is a market waiting to explode. I hope Nigerians can realize this and get to work before these foreigners take over everything, and leave us with very little to call our own.
