Bishop:Just to add that there is actually a third one: Third party fire and theft. In addition to the third party cover, the policy holder is covered for fire and theft. So when those mechanics 'sarvis' your nozzles or leave a fuel line loose or you get firebombed by irate okada or keke napep rider cos you accidentally hit one... you are rest assured that you have some compensation |
femi4:That's good to know that some VIO offices issue genuine insurance. I still maintain that a good number are not genuine and I would rather buy mine online. I didn't write JAMB in the digital age. I did mine when we still had to fill in paper forms and post and receive results in the post so I don't understand the correlation between the JAMB scratchcard and vehicle licence but I'm willing to learn if you wish to explain more |
femi4:Put your policy number into the link I posted. Then you'll know if you have a valid policy. |
dominique:I will attempt to break it down. When you renew your particulars and you pay the lump sum of whatever it is yon pay, 5000 naira is for insurance, about 2000 for licence fee, only God knows ...about 1000 for road worthiness . What I'm saying is that you are well within your right to only pay the licence fee and road worthiness to VIO. This will be remitted to the government and you get a government receipt for these. The insurance can be bought privately and you do not have to pay this to VIO. Even if you pay it to them, it is not meant to be remitted to the government. The truth is that the VIO has no business selling you insurance. If you decide to buy from them...your choice. I hope you understand now. |
magicminister:The scam is not carried out by the government. It is private individuals and the VIO involved. I think the VIO get a kick back from every policy sold. In summary...you have a choice. If you want to give your 5000 naira to the VIO, that's fine. I prefer to pay mine to the insurance company directly. Like I said, government is in no way involved in this. Government had no business providing insurance cover. You do not get a government receipt for the insurance cover so leave government out it. You are being scammed by he VIO and private individuals. |
Stylz69:Magicminister, comprehension is really important! I didn't say you don't need insurance, I said you don't have to buy your insurance from VIO. I said the insurance they sell is worthless and you cannot make claims on it. I said the only purpose that insurance serves is to complete your papers. If you want real insurance cover, buy from a broker or directly from the insurance companies online. However if you are happy to just have complete papers, then buy from VIO |
magicminister:What part is false please? |
It is NOT COMPULSORY for you to purchase your insurance from the vehicle licencing office. Fact is the insurance they sell is worthless and the only use is for you to complete your papers. Secondly, they rely on the ignorance of drivers to sell these fake insurance knowing drivers rarely make claims especially on 3rd party policies. When I renew my vehicle particulars, I only pay for the vehicle license. I go online and buy my 3rd party insurance from reputable insurance companies and print off my policy and attach. It is still the same 5000 naira for the 3rd party and I least I have the peace of mind knowing my 3rd party cover is genuine. Dominique, the 5000 does not go to the government; it goes to the crooks selling the worthless policies. How can you claim on a fake policy? Is there even any number to call in the event of an accident or any outlined process for making a claim? |
FemiFaniKayode:Mr FFK there is no I too know in his request to know the engine size. Agreed, the post doesn't talk about engine size because it is generalises measuring consumption regardless of engine size. Whether you drive a 4,6,8 or 12 cylinder engine, this method helps you measure your fuel consumption. However dextrovert asked about specific vehicles which have varying engine sizes. The toyota corolla for example comes in 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.4 litre engine and that even depends on the year in question...I think there are some year models will even less engine capacity. This will be the same for the Honda or Peugeot. These different engine sizes and models will have varied consumption. So you see that you are actually the ignorant one and probably that's why you perceive the poster as being an i-too-know. ... what do I know anyway... |

Scroll down on the front page and see what a man did to his wife. It starts with hitting and may end with your obituary. |
This may not help your current situation but I advise that you should sign up on the gtbank portal for a virtual Mastercard. They'll issue you the card number, expiry date, Security 3 and pin online. You transfer the exact funds to this virtual card online and make your transactions. This way, you will not fall victim to such deductions. I had such happen to me so I just blocked the card and now use a virtual Mastercard for any online transaction |
Rubbish!! So you collect the DNA samples, scrapings and all the forensics and do what with it? Compare against what database? Do we even have DNA labs here? I recall when the thieves took robbed us and took a car. We recovery the vehicle abandoned somewhere in jabi. Police cordoned off the area and didn't let us take the vehicle; said crime lab had to come and dust for prints. 1 hour later some chap comes with a big box and starts messing up everywhere with his brush and black powder. I decide to ask one of the police officers what database they want to run the prints against. He looks at me and tells me " no be so e dey work. We will put the prints in a machine and it will just build up the image of the owner of the prints" . For fear of being shot, I said that's wonderful!!! And walked away... now Lagos State are procuring rape kits...issorai... |
Was the oil change done before or after the engine was replaced? If it was done before, do you know what fluid spec was used by the auto workshop? Check the colour and smell of the fluid; is it pink? Does it smell burnt? Do you have a check engine light on? If yes, do a scan. |

It's called your mouth and a hose. You don't need any suction machine thingy. They are poorly made and won't last 2 months. Take your Jerry can of fuel, put the hose in. If you don't feel comfortable sucking the other end, you can just blow into the Jerry can...either way the fuel begins to flow. Just place the Jerry can higher than the level of the tank....or drive in traffic and you'll find them selling the fuel suction pump. |

anonimi:You can't find what was never lost in the first place. I have had this debate numerous times that no girls were taken. It was a false flag event and no girls will ever be found. Michelle Obama has played her part in the #bringbackourgirls campaign and has long forgotten about it. The stooges here keep wearing their red dresses and sitting in crowds looking for imaginary girls. |

Yes it can be reset without reseting your odometer. It is a trip counter and you can use it for whatever purpose you wish...say you want to measure the distance you travel between refills or the distance you travel in a day or week or month..then you use the trip counter...or that's what I use mine for. |
Nigerians and our ruler mentality. We should perceive the president as leaders and not rulers. We are in a democracy now. |
If you are familiar with Dropbox or one drive or any cloud storage application then you will know what Google drive is. If not, I will try to explain. Google drive let's you share your files across all your devices and it works by uploading your files and storing them in the 'cloud'. Obviously you must have a Google account and you can install the Google drive app on your device. To share a file, you need to move it to your Google drive folder and it will be uploaded. Then you can access the file on any pc by logging in with your Google account on www.googledrive.com |
