1. He is doing it because we do it. 2. I'm sure you can do it in any country. However what I'm not sure of is what happens to you if you do. He is sure that nothing will happen to him here so he can do it. Why is this on front page? |
dfrost:The state and federal government are responsible for maintaining existing structures (roads). If the state government cannot maintain state roads and asks a private company to do it and toll it. Would you pay? The owners of the project are the people of Abia state. It's your land, it's in your state. It cannot be carried away so you all (I assume you are from Abia) own it. I don't think the problem of Aba is just the roads. It is also the people. If they had a sense of pride for their city, they won't dump rubbish indiscriminately or is it the road that dumped rubbish there. The roads are bad; all well and good but turning the roadside to rubbish dumps as well. Anyway, hopefully this model city will trigger the State government to improve its existing cities. |
betterABIAstate:I will start a thread to showcase this project and fill you in with all you need to know. It will become a reality so start saving up |
betterABIAstate:You are probably aware that your state has a PPP Public Private Partnership office headed by Mr. Austin Ufomba. We worked closely with him to bring this project to reality. We were in Abia two weeks ago to see the site which is massive...and today we met your governor who is passionate to see this project realised. Like I said, it is not an estate, it is a city. It will be managed privately so you are certain it will be a city that works. All infrastructure provided...I cannot give you more details now but in the coming days I may open a thread to showcase progress. We have contacted a team of foreign town planners to come up with a masterplan. Start saving because in 3-5 years you can buy into this city. |
Hmmm...I didn't know that Aba was in such a deplorable state. However I have good news for Abians and in the coming days/weeks/ months you may get to hear of it. You will have an opportunity to live in a modern city with every amenity you can think of. I was part of a group of investors and we met with your governor this evening in Abuja. We are proposing to build an new city between Aba and Umuahia... it is a 580 hectare development in Nsulu and it will be world class with all infrastructure plus hotel, parks, fire station, a golf course and all the works. I would like to get some feedback from Abians here. Is this a welcome project and would you live here if completed? |
Anywhere between the two markings is ideal but I the closer to the upper limit the better but never pass the upper marking....I think |
gidgiddy:This project wasn't initiated in the last year. We funded this project in 2014 under the 2013 CGS to State. What that means is the proposal for this project was submitted in 2013 but we gave them funds in 2014. The project is counterpart funded which means that we give the state 50% and the state provides 50%. I must say that I'm impressed with the scale of the project and I hope they can sustain it. |
uduak2016:My thoughts exactly. Ask Gaddafi...oh...they killed him. |
Let's get ready to hear a policy statement from the president. It's the only time we get to hear that he said something. |
Why can't a government just accept responsibility for its failure. It always has to look for blame somewhere else. If they aren't blaming the previous administration, it is NASS. Now it's the head of Agencies. |
Hmm.... so the guy was a broke ass and his family too...but the retired broke army man could still get 30 soldiers to beat up guests. Issokay |
EbukaFran:Thank you for that! I am actually surprised that people didn't know that anyone can make a Wikipedia entry. Who is the mod that moved this to front page? He needs a Wikipedia entry to immortalise his ...... brilliance? Or otherwise |
If you like yourself do not spend the money. It happened to a colleague of mine some time back. I credited him with 450k and it credited him twice. He called the account officer and reported at the bank bit they did nothing. He spent the money. Almost 6-7 months later, they debited his account for that amount. Just be sure that sooner or later they will detect the error and just be sure that when they do, you have enough in your account to cover it else.... |
dustydee:How can he defend a project that has no funds appropriated for its execution. Was he making a case for its inclusion? Or defending a ghost project. Or it was probably inserted after the original document got missing from the National Assembly. |
nwaanambra1:The photos are not in the correct order. The last four photos are on his way to the helipad. I guess there was no fuel for his 40+ motorcade so he went by chopper to the airport. The pictures taken at night are on arrival at the Abuja airport to board his flight after his brief visit to Nigeria. |
okogbemyk:I know but my main concern is the PMS pumps. Like I said they should go and see a proper Mega station with over 40 pumps. They are making noise about their mini mega station with 4 pumps. Please.... |
Abeg print the names from 1960 to date. If you can go as far as 1914, it will be good just don't start from the last 16 years |
Mega station with 4 pumps? Please visit the NNPC on the expressway to Kubwa and see what a proper Mega station looks like. |
odiereke:You look them in the face and tell them boldly that they have no right to ask you for the documents. They know and they will back off. However before you pull that stunt be sure that your vehicle is road worthy and will pass their road worthiness test else sorry na your name. |
You haven't got work yet and you are deciding whether you'd appreciate him or not. You are only letting pain eat you up from the inside. You put yourself through school, you survived, you graduated and have served. Get a job and show him how to be a better man. Take care of him that's the best revenge... oh...and make sure you don't do the same to your kids. |
Right out of JJ Omojuwa's playbook |
Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega is nominated for his professionalism, determination and integrity as chairman of Nigeria’s electoral commission, which, in 2015, ensured the conduct of Nigeria’s most credible election since the country’s return to civilian rule in 1999. Really? Very credible! !!!

I guess they want to take back their 50 kobo CHANGE. |
fulanimafia:Deregulation doesn't weaken the power of the DPR (regulator). The telecoms sector is deregulated but has NCC as the regulatory body and they have immense power . Recall the hefty fine placed on MTN. Deregulation doesn't mean that market players can do as they wish, in fact the regulatory bodies exercise more power in a deregulated market. Deregulate and marketers will invest in more efficient ways to get their products to the stations. We may pay more initially but it will level out. |
maximunimpact:Someone is beginning to sound like a broken record... and he was a past leader too. Ah well, I guess he was voted in for these sound bites. Mr. President, you aren't saying anything new; you were voted in because the populace wanted things to be better and not for you to repeat the woes of the past. I keep seeing "in the past 16 years" as if Nigeria never existed before then or corruption on non-existent pre-16 years ago. The combined loot pre -2000 will triple that stolen in the last 16 years. |
fulanimafia:The inability for a regulator to exercise it's power shouldn't be an excuse to maintain a bad system. In an open market, markets forces can come into play and ensure we pay the right prices however I agree that regulation will play an important role and the DPR are not living up to their responsibility. Look at the telecom sector, when MTN and Econet were the dominant players. We were forced to pay per minute and told that per second billing couldn't be implemented. It didn't take any regulation to force prices down neither did government fix prices for calls even when we cried out. It took a new market entrant, Glo to enter the market with per second billing and immediately all the others had to do the same. At one point, it needs to be done. Price fixing is inefficient and we will continue to suffer this scarcity. As a private investor, I will not build a refinery or pipelines if I cannot recoup my costs in a market with fixed prices, government will not build refineries and pipelines because it can't. ..so what is the solution? |
The government doesn't want to make the unpopular decision, which by the way is the best decision, to deregulate the sector. I see people happily queueing by the road side to buy from black marketers at 150 naira -200 naira per litre yet years ago a wise man deregulated the market, filling stations were told to sell at 141 naira but we occupied the streets revolting. We are paying the price today and putting money in the pockets of those who want the price fixing to continue. Nobody wonders how the fuel ends up in jerrycans. Petrol stations don't necessarily have to divert tankers to make gains. They just sell all their products to the black marketers at 100-120 naira a litre. Let Magu be chasing yam eaters while petrol stations commit even greater financial crimes and corrupt practices. |
Maybe that's what they use for Kilishi in Ogun State |
What end time? We've been in the end times since the bible was written and the world hasn't ended. I recall hearing about the rapture and the coming in primary 3 and everyday I kept looking in the clouds for the trumpets and imagining the sound; needless to say it never happened. Focus on living and doing the best you can while you can. The only end time is when your time on this earth ends... |
My question is how the government will finance the 'subsidy'. I cannot remember seeing any allocation for payment of subsidy in the 2016 appropriation bill so where is the money coming from? Perhaps they are using the returned loot? |
The only cons come with buying a poorly maintained V6. |
yomz1e:Though you are right, I think the OP is considering the cost in terms of data usage. I'd rather download than stream anyway considering the points you raised |
