IMAliyu:
Just out of curiosity, when/where did he promote that?
Over the years, the Fulani hierarchy has been promoting the so-called "virtue" of the Sokoto Caliphate the first symposium was around 2016 and was promoted by Sanusi and the Sultan of Sokoto. Last month the Emir of Zazzau (Second picture) recently chaired the relaunch of a book "The Sokoto Caliphate".

In the age of the fourth industrial revolution, insecurity and poverty, the feudal Fulani's rulers are more interested in promoting a failed feudal political system that bought more suffering and underdevelopment to the Northern Region and Nigeria, than the British colonialist.

Mr Bamalli said the book explained the significance of the Jihad movement and all those who played critical roles in the movement.

He said contrary to the writings of African scholars, the Sokoto Caliphate revealed the importance of intellectual dialogue in the formulation of African policies.
“Commitment to education is the key to reforming the society,” he added. (This in a region that has the lowest literacy rate in the world)

Mr Jega said the Sokoto Caliphate had been wrongly seen as an evil construct that subjugated other people. He praised Premium Times Books for its publication of the book to put history in the right perspective.

Mr Bunza said the Sokoto Caliphate was not an organic movement. Rather, it was one borne out of coincidence after the people organised themselves to stand against oppression.

Because the knowledge of pre-colonial kingdoms like that of Sokoto is fizzling out, there is a need to rejig our school’s curriculum by reintroducing history into the curriculum, the moderator, Mr Alegbe, said.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Opposed Removal Of Fuel Subsidy In 2011 by sulaak(m):
backbencher:
Or we can remove subsidy, which means more investment in private refineries, which means that market forces will bring down the price of fuel with increased production domestic

Your idea makes sense, but the problem is the money that would be used to pay for the subsidy comes from crude oil revenue ,which at current prices cannot find our budget effectively talkless of subsidies

Plus when oil prices rise, the cost of subsidy would rise. And take money away from other sectors. Meanwhile no one would want to build refineries and operate it at a loss or sell crude oil at a loss to refineries.
The refineries will generate revenue from exporting refined oil, just as Nigeria export LNG. The Nigeria government will subsidise the purchase and consumption of refined oil from the local refineries, hence the refinery will make money both ways. The difference is that the Nigerian government will be subsidising industrial production and not import consumption . Nigeria can easily increase its refinery capacity by 2 million b/d which will provide a higher export capacity than exporting crude oil. (Ask the Holland, India and South Korea)

Apart from Nigerians, who will invest in Nigeria. Insecurity, over-regulation and incompetence government drives out foreign direct investment. Nigeria with a GDP of $450 billion has a capital market of $55 billion a shocking statistic when SA with a GDP $350 has a capital market of $1 trillion.

The problem is that Nigeria is an unproductive country, removing oil subsidies will ensure that Nigeria will become less productive as Nigeria will not be able to afford expensive PMS, Kerosene and Cooking gas.

Nigeria already has the second-lowest revenue in the world just after Haiti. Hence unless Nigeria learns how to exploit its oil resources instead of exporting them, the country will continue to be poor. Providing Nigeria with subsidies downstream cheap oil and gas will encourage industrial development down.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Opposed Removal Of Fuel Subsidy In 2011 by sulaak(m): 7:57am On Dec 01, 2021
backbencher:
The painful thing is that if we had removed the thing in 2012, by now we would have been enjoying the benefits , and we would have been over the worst. Plus we had higher oil prices in 2012, meaning that there would have been enough cash to pay the poor to help them prosper.

.
If Nigeria deregulates the oil industry and removes oil subsidies, the higher oil price at $80 per barrel will increase the pain to Nigerians.

The subsidy was supposed to cushion the blow of high oil prices to Nigerian consumers. Cooking Gas and Kerosene have both been deregulated and subsidies removed, yet the price of cooking gas and kerosene is still high due to the international cost of gas and oil.

The only option is to keep subsidies, but subsidies local oil refinery production(if we can get them working) or else Nigeria will be forced to pay a high cost of energy consumption, with the unintended consequence of climate and environmental destruction, forcing Nigerians to depend on illegal refineries, charcoal and our limited supply of trees.

Anyone here from Middle-Belt Nigeria (North Central is just a political name), will agree with me that we are one of the most marginalized and deprived groups in Nigeria. It may surprise some of you to know that we are being designated 'Northerners' for wicked political purposes. Other things you need to know:

1. We have the highest number of Ethnic Groups, with Plateau State having more than a hundred languages.

2. Majority is Christian (Probably the reason for their wicked sidelining). The wicked Ones will not agree to this

3. It is the hotspot for Jihadist, Boko Haram attacks. They want to completely conquer it and then head for Southern Nigeria.

4. As it is now, the middle-belt is the reason Northern Nigeria is still surviving (to say the least). Please don't ask me how

5. They will never allow a president to come from the middle belt, because, Kasala go burst.

HealthRe: Ayoade Olatunbosun-Alakija BBC Interview On Omicron COVID In South Africa by sulaak(m): 12:08pm On Nov 29, 2021
Another emotional rant from the typical African victims. What are African countries doing to develop local capacity to produce vaccines? The government of Russia, China, Brazil are all producing vaccines to protect their people.

Dr Ayoade Alakija should direct her anger to the useless Nigeria government that has done absolutely nothing for Nigerians, even the palliative that was donated to Nigerians was stolen. the government should at least provide incentives and support to private organisations to develop vaccines in Nigeria.

Months after the Federal Government announced plans to restart local vaccine production at the Federal Vaccine Production Laboratory, Yaba, Lagos, nothing significant has changed at the facility, a PREMIUM TIMES investigation has revealed.

Nigeria’s vaccine production centre remains comatose despite govt assurances
ByAyodamola Owoseye December 24, 2017 3 min read

Mr. Adewole explained the need for the country to start local production in the country to stop its dependence on international donors, especially Global Vaccine Alliance, GAVI.

GAVI is an international finance mechanism that enables developing countries to procure vaccines at very cheap prices. By 2022, Nigeria will no longer be on the GAVI list as it would have to pay full costs for vaccines procured.

Since the closure of the Yaba laboratory in 1991, Nigeria has relied 100 per cent on imported vaccines and donations while the Yaba facility rots away.

While that has happened, episodes of deadly disease outbreaks have met the country always ill-prepared, with thousands killed by Lassa fever, Meningitis, Yellow Fever, and Ebola over the years.

In 2017 alone, Meningitis killed over a thousand people in different states across the country. Also, a shortage of anti-snake venom for three weeks led at least 250 preventable deaths.

Chief,

Who controls the instrument of war, Fulani's are presently battle-hardened fighting wars across West Africa(Mali, Nigeria, CAR, Niger). They control finance, the majority of the weapons are in the North.

The south must ensure that they have an armed police force and start the process of armed manufacturing.

Civil war? North would have easily won? Because it's their birthright to win wars or what? How exactly will that have led to a war if handled smartly? So whatever the North wants it gets because we're afraid of wars the the gods have destined them to always win? Do you even understand that it was Obasanjos lack of action against yerima in Zamfara that emboldened other northern State governors to follow suit and declare Sharia?
Ahbegii...
Right now they control all the instruments of war, finance, military weapons and the majority of senior officers. The South need to reclaim the presidency and change the security architect by empowering state police and regional security army.

Chief, if OBJ reacted the same issue in Ethiopia would have happened in Nigeria. Sometimes you need to be patient and assertive.

This tout has been president of Nigeria for over decade! He was president as a young man and cane back as an older man with a lot of experience, but yet could not correct whatsoever that are the mistakes he saw from the sidelines. This guy allowed the Sharia nonsense to gain ground in the North through Zamfara. That's how Boko Haram started and the general insecurity in the North followed. Everybody in the country begged him to stop yerima from politicizing Sharia, yet after thousands were killed over the Sharia riots, he lifted no finger to stop tht! Obasanjo is Evil. He knows all the problems of the country. He knows all the solutions and answers to those problems. But make him the president for a thousand times, he won't solve them, because he's part of the problem! He prefers to pontificate from Otta farm..
Had he tried to stop Yerima, there would have been a civil war similar to the ongoing war in Ethiopia, and the North would have easily won the war.

The fact that despite the introduction of Sharia, corruption and underdevelopment hasn't ended in the North, it is even worse, confirming that is religion is not the solution to Nigeria problem.

Obasanjo was right.

The people that you should blame are the 12 Northern states that instigated the introduction of political Sharia, refusal to invest in children education, neglect of the rural regions and finally girl child marriage.
PoliticsRe: El-rufai: Cameroon Shut Down Its Refinery Because Of Cheap Fuel From Nigeria by sulaak(m): 6:41am On Nov 26, 2021
Nigerian politician are not clever

The problems:
’The disclosures by the NNPC GMD and the Minister of Finance were in symphony with the positions of the World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Mr. Shubham Chaudhuri and the International Monetary Fund urging the Federal Government to do away with fuel subsidy
The failures
‘’It is difficult to convince Nigerian workers why our dear country is the only country among the OPEC member countries that cannot produce its own refined petroleum products and thus adopts the neo-liberal import production model of refined petroleum products.
The consequences
The truth is that these commodities which Nigeria can easily produce have been priced out of the reach of most Nigerian families with majority of our people resorting to tree felling and charcoal for their energy needs.

I think it is high time people realise that blowing up pipelines/ oil facilities will have a boomerang effect on them rather than addressing whatever needs of the community. One it not only does it degrade the environment but again it erodes investor confidence in the industry. is it no wonder that they are divesting their assets in Nigeria and are weary of even financing new projects? Now Angola and Mozambique are prime destinations in Africa for oil investment because of stability. Again these guys should note that the primary responsibility of government at all tiers is to provide basic amenities. why are they not harassing their local government officials/state goverment officials and suing federal government? The oil company can only provide some amenities as part of the CSR to their operating areas. But any policy direction towards catering for the oil producing areas should come from the government
You are writing from the conform of a city, where government exist, in those rural areas, there is no governance or amenities to support a growing population.

The Nigeria rural development government have failed, any oil companies that want to invest and exploit Nigeria oil reserves must be prepared to invest in social amenities and jobs or leave. We are all witness to the Islamic insurgencies in North Mozambique or Cabina in Angola

After 65 years of oil exploration, extraction and processing what has those communities and Nigeria got to show for it. What is shaping up is violence and civil disobedience across the Niger-delta, it is long overdue.

I watch in horror at the Aiteo oil spillage, in any civilised country oil companies Aiteo and Shell will be required to stop the spillage immediately and they will be immediately sanctioned, in Nigeria, the petroleum minister is just visiting the location after three weeks! This is the state of leadership in Nigeria.

As of now it doesn't matter, 65 years of oil exploitation has delivered nothing but poverty and pollution across the country, it is about time the Nigerian government and their IOC partners start real compensation and investment in that region. Enough of this federal owned NDDC or OML rent programme with prominent Nigerian elites.
