Nigeria can never be sufficient in rice production. Believe the FG propaganda at your own peril. Not in quantity, definitely not in quality can Nigeria meet up. By the way, Fulani herdsmen did not chase rice farmers. An overwhelming majority of rice farmers are in the North West which is another reason (ethnic undertone) for the FG's support of rice farming.

My advice to the rice farmers is that they should better save their windfall because one day, a pharaoh would come and he would not remember Joseph.
The Fulani /farmers clash is more prevalent in the North West. Nigeria can be self-sufficient in food production and become a major food export, the country needs competent political leaders and not the rubbish from APC/PDP

We need to eat local rice more often, imagine the millons of dollars we are enriching other countries. How will our economy ever grow this way. It saddens me how we Nigerians can't encourage one another to become better and spend this money in the country. Presently there is scarcity of money, the flow is directed to places it is not needed that often.

We need to start buying and producing, this is the only way we can get better. Rome was not built in a day

Modified
Let me enlightened you on this quickly

See the north east states
Maiduguri, yobe Adamawa Bauchi are the largest producers of beans in Nigeria, it is a sad thing the insurgency that has affected this regions, farmers died, some where displaced and now staying in idps, the others remaining are scared of going to farm.

The Nigeria population is increasing everyday with no sustainable development or plan to ensure safety and good health.
Initially even with this states we still didn't meet up with production, in the space of 10 years the price of beans has increased dramatically and it all point out to the low supply and high demand.

Now fast forward to our present day, the north west and central are being ravage by bandits and herdsmen. Many where killed, many are being displaced. The rest put of fear won't go to farm. Many are being maimed and hands cut off this is the present situation up north, we are now left with lesser supply in the market, I tell you the level of food scarcity this country will face next year eyes has not seen neither has ear heard.

It is true naira fell furthermore to the dollars and cost of import goods increase, I wonder why Nigeria still imports fertilizer, aside that we don't even have the larger number of farmers going to farm, rain and climate change affected alot of harvest in the country...hike in price is inevitable, the risk of transporting grains in Nigeria has trippled, we must eat. What are we going to do.
You can't eat what you don't produce. The country is not producing enough agriculture produce due to insecurity and logistic problems

Even legal judgements to recover billions of dollars owed to Nigerians are ignored by this government

Channels Television
Updated October 11, 2021

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana, has asked the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, to recover a $62 billion debt owed by six international oil companies.

In a letter dated October 8 and obtained by Channels Television on Sunday, Falana said the Supreme Court in 2018 had ordered the Federal Government to immediately recover the debt.

But, based on the posture of the Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. Timipre Sylva, it appeared the Federal Government wasn’t committed to the recovery process, Falana said.

“We are Solicitors to Professor Omotoye Olorode and Jaye Gaskia of the People’s Alternative Political Movement (PAPM) on whose behalf we write this letter,” Falana’s letter said.

“Our clients have instructed us to remind you that the Federal Government has not enforced the above-mentioned Judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria delivered on October 20, 2018.

We are Solicitors to Professor Omotoye Olorode and Jaye Gaskia of the People’s Alternative Political Movement (PAPM) on whose behalf we write this letter,” Falana’s letter said.

“Our clients have instructed us to remind you that the Federal Government has not enforced the above-mentioned Judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria delivered on October 20, 2018.

“In the said Judgment the apex court had directed the Federal Government to immediately take steps to recover all revenues lost to oil-exploring and exploiting companies due to wrong profit-sharing formula since August 2003.

“Based on the aforesaid Judgment, you did request for the immediate payment of the sum of $62 billion owed by the six international oil companies with joint operating agreements with the NNPC namely Shell Petroleum Development Company, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited and Chevron Nigeria Limited, Nigeria Agip Oil Company, TotalElf Nigeria and Pan Ocean Oil Company.

But to the utter dismay of our clients, Mr. Diepere Silva, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources publicly stated that ‘Well, we have started discussions. Let us consider that as a lost opportunity, the money was not in a cupboard, they have taken it. Nobody can bring out that kind of money, I mean we can’t get $62billion. We can maybe get something from them but not $62billion.

It’s an opportunity we have lost. We have already started discussions with them but what is clear is that it is a lost opportunity really.’

TheGoodJoe:

I think you people are missing the prof's point again.

He is saying Ekiti has enough GDP to transform the lives of the people in their State.

They should start working. They should have a mindset of a Nation. That is, develop their economy and the lives of their people.
Ekiti doesn't have enough GDP to transform the lives of the people in their state if the 3.5 million indigenes have to share $2.9 billion.

The failure is with the state government inability to create an enabling program for investment. Limited resources are wasted on recurring expenditures such as pension and government salaries at the expense of investment in CAPEX that will support a knowledge and technology base industry.

GDP, which stands for Gross Domestic Product, is a measure describing the value of a countryÃs economy. ... GDP per capita is a measure that results from GDP divided by the size of the nation's overall population. So in essence, it is theoretically the amount of money that each individual gets in that particular country
PoliticsRe: Osinbajo: Ekiti Has Higher GDP Than Gambia, Cape Verde, Seychelles by sulaak(m): 7:43pm On Oct 14, 2021
TheGoodJoe:

I don't think Osinbajo just said devalue the naira but was talking about it from the CBN's perspective.

Those who source FX form CBN get it for $410 and sell it in the black market for $570 that is a whooping sum of $160.

So, Osinbajo says CBN should obey market forces and stop the artificial rates.

If the cost is 410, dollar inflow will reduce because it sells better on the black market.

If there is a parallel price between the black market and CBN, round tripping (which is actually a funding piece for terror groups) will stop and inflow of dollars will increase.

I think he is right.
Isn't that what I said? That he suggested that the CBN should consider Naira devaluation.

Osinbajo failed to present that the lack of FDI is not only due to the artificial rate of the Naira, but insecurity, extreme government corruption and the crackdown on Endsars, journalists/ social media.

Last week he suggested that the CBN should consider devaluing the Naira forgetting that under Buhari\Osinbajo government the Naira has been devalued from N196 to N450 in 6 years.

If you read closely, you will discover he wasn't giving the stats to make us believe Ekiti is working. He only said that to sensitize the government to work.
If they earn much, they should be able to fix infrastructures and the rest. You got the message wrong.
You can't sensitize the government to work with selective data, you need to spell the home truth. A state like Ekiti with 3.5 million inhabitants, arable land and a literacy rate of 85% should be generating more revenue than the measle $840 per capita.
PoliticsRe: Osinbajo: Ekiti Has Higher GDP Than Gambia, Cape Verde, Seychelles by sulaak(m): 7:21pm On Oct 14, 2021
TheRareGem1:
The assertion is absolutely very correct!

However, the government should improve on human capital development and welfarism of the state workers especially the teachers.
The assertion is absolutely crap, if the GDP per capita is $840 then Ekiti State is extremely poor, with limited bandwidth to improve human capital development and industrial development without loans and FDI.

The GDP per capita of

Gambia: 787.01 USD (2020)
Seychelles : 11,425.09 USD (2020)
Sao Tome: 2,157.84 USD (2020)
Cape Verde :3,064.27 USD (2020)

Nigerians need to stop brandishing the GDP as a measure of wealth and focus on revenue generated and available per capita.

Osinbanjo should stick to the law and leave economics to the economist.

Last week he suggested that the CBN should consider devaluing the Naira forgetting that under Buhari\Osinbajo government the Naira has been devalued from N196 to N450 in 6 years.

See Nigeria young governor Ayade

Ayade appoints record 1,906 aides
By Anietie Akpan, Calabar
08 November 2016

The governor of Crosss River state, Ben Ayade has hinged the appointment of close to 2,000 aides on the desire to create job opportunities.

The new waves of appointments bring to 1,906 the total number of political appointees in the state despite its lean financial standing.
Before now, the Ayade-led government had a total of 800 appointees while the immediate past administration of Senator liyel Imoke had a total of about 98 appointees.

Among those appointed recently included Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Personal Assistants as well as the Chairmen and members of Board, Commissions, Departments and Agencies.

Breakdown of the appointments shows that 799 were appointed into various boards commissions and agencies. The remaining 307 appointees are as follows Special Advisers (6); Senior Special Advisers (30); Special Assistants (75), Personal Assistants (25).

Others are Personal Assistants to Paramount Rulers (16); Representatives of each local government in the State Food Bank Unit (90); Liaison Officers for the 18 local government area and three senatorial districts (21); Special Assistants on Religious Affairs (18); and Permanent Secretaries (26).

A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Ita, said the appointments take effect from November 1, 2016.

Recently, Senator Ayade had announced that he approved huge political appointees as a way of employment creation. However, labour leaders in the state have roundly condemned the pronouncement.

They insisted that such method of creating employment does not exist in any economic theory when the state’s 22,000 workforce is already over-bloated amidst poor financial inflow.

They advised the government to engage in real job creation of industrialisation and empowerment through various programmes and strengthening the private sector that can further create employment.
COdeGenesis:
There was mild pandemonium at University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom after the Vice President, Blessing Jaja, released a memo about the immediate appointment of 20 special aides. Her justification for this is to enable the smooth running of the activities of the office of the vice president of the SUG.

Why can't Nigerians get their priorities in order?

You are still learning new skills yet your want to quit your current job. At 25 you are thinking of marriage on a salary of N35k. Sometimes Nigerians are the architect of their poverty.

1. Get the required skills.
2. Complete professional certification on the skills i.e AWS /Azure developer
3. Practice your skills, you are a teacher why not start teaching web development part-time
4. Consider uploading your skills and expertise on platforms such as Upwork and freelancer ad see whether your expertise are in demand
5. Also consider looking for working
6. Only resign from your current job when you have a new job offer. Nigeria has enough people asking for loans we don't need to add you to the list.

Spark2:
Hi guys,
I trust this meets you well?
I am 25 years old, I'd soon be 26.
I'm a graduate, I served in Kano and stayed back after service doing a teaching job. I am paid 35, 000 naira per month. The 35k finishes on transportation and feeding even before the month ends.

I started learning a skill in tech about a year and half ago, I've gained some confidence already in web development, I can call my self a Front-End Developer now with some knowledge of back end development... I have made up my mind to keep learning everyday. I have a dream of going fully into tech and at this point in my life, I need a job that will offer me the opportunity to learn what I'm personally interested in. I want to work in a team that will help me to grow, not a teaching job where I am overworked and get home tired everyday and have little time to code.

After sitting and considering all these, I made up my mind to resign my teaching Job by the end of December. I'm going back to my hometown (a state in the North central) where I hope to go down to Abuja in search of a better life or better still if I get one in my state.

The thing is that I'd need to take this bold step now while I'm still a bachelor before I get married and unable to.

I understand that it is a hard decision to take, but if I let fear hold me down here, Many years will pass and I will be here held by fear. A colleague shared his story with me, that he was afraid of leaving and for him, it's 11 years now teaching and he is still struggling. He's married and it's now difficult to take any step as such.

I need advice, if possible share your experiences so that I will learn.

Thank you very much

A University degree is more than certification, it is part of growing up into adulthood, a good university education should have provided the OP with the tools and environment to be productive in terms of financial management, business engagement, critical and lateral thinking.

When I was studying for my Engr degree, I did much practical training in software development, system analyst and two unpaid placements with small companies in the technology sector. By the time I graduated I had more than enough tools to work for myself.
