Uwyy: please its better you go for the warehouse assistance. You will have more time for yourself. I was formally a bank teller and i suffered in paying shortages. No opportunity of being a full staff. Please just know that bank job is a slavery work. As a bank teller did you consider paying for extra training in banking and finance to upscale your skill for higher-paying jobs and opportunities. |

Ffolksy: I'll advice that you go for the Warehouse job. Contract Bank teller work is actually like putting yourself in a cage. The prospect for growth is limited, and the schedule of work will hinder you from switching jobs cos you won't be able to attend other interviews. Besides, the risk is high for the teller job. You are going to pay back the differences any time you have short fall, which may even be higher than your salary.
With the warehouse job, you can work harder, get certified and aim to grow on the ladder: Warehouse manager (inbound or outbound), Distribution manager or something higher within the supply chain functions. The skills are also transferable. If you depend on the bank to develop your skills then the prospect of growth will be difficult. There are many online professional banking courses that he can do to prepare him for a high paying job in finance. One of the key skills that he will develop is trustworthiness, a critical skills that are transferable to any industry. In a corrupt country like Nigeria, any Nigerian that has good reference from a bank especially as a bank teller will be on the top of my list for recruitment. |

The first phase will be from Oyingbo to Agbado...when will it be completed? Second phase Third Phase The Completion time for the Red Line would be the fourth Quarter of 2022
The BLUE LINE Rail is currently at 78% Civil Works and would be completed by the fourth Quarter of 2022, can Lagos government focus on completing the Blue line before they embark on another expensive project that they can't complete.
The light rail network is a brilliant plan and long overdue but its execution by Tinubu henchmen is a disgrace and corrupt.
Governor of Lagos State today performed the Groundbreaking Ceremony and commencement of Civil Works for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line Project.
- A span of 37km rail route from Marina to Agbado to be implemented in Phases, First Phase will be from Oyingbo to Agbado, to share tracks with NRC on the Lagos Ibadan Rail. - On Phase1 completion, It is expected to run 37 trips daily which is about 450,000 passengers Daily, The NRC will also run a maximum of 16hours a day between Lagos and Ibadan. - To ensure Safety for Lagosians, There are 10 vehicular overpasses and pedestrian bridges for proposed for this rail line to separate vehicular & pedestrian movements from train movements. - Lagos State will construct four vehicular overpasses and pedestrian bridges in Mushin, Ikeja, Yaba and Oyingbo. - FG would construct 5 vehicular overpasses & pedestrian bridges at Jibowu, Ilupeju, Shogunle, Jonathan Coker and Agbado. - The State has evaluated all properties affected including Landlords and tenants which is a Total of 263 properties have been identified and Mr Governor presented their Chequers to them. - The Red Line Rail will cut down travel time and in turn improve the productive capacity of the economy and also ensure safety from any form of accident and danger. - The Completion time for the Red Line would be the fourth Quarter of 2022 together with the Ongoing Blue Line Rail. - The BLUE LINE Rail is currently at 78% Civil Works and would be completed by the fourth Quarter of 2022 - The implementation of the Red line project has become very elevated because of the financing package put in place for it by the State Government through the Central Bank Nigeria (CBN) Differentiated Cash Reserve Requirement (DCRR) programme. - Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says work is going on simultaneously on bringing the first phase of our Blue Line to passenger operation, to be in operation by the fourth quarter of 2022 |

uuzba: Because it is government and has betrayed people's trust. As a kid, NTA was all that there was. It used to show cultural programs that united Nigeria. Since this is Nigeria's ideal. But when we keep on seeing Northerners as president and Ministers, when Niger Delta is the one supplying the nation's wealth from it's crude oil, and nothing it left for Niger Deltans,,... then there is something wrong with the Unity. And NTA don't talk about the devastation in that part of the country. It was private stations like Channels TV, that addressed those issues. Hence we got to know that no matter how much fire burns the whole of Nigeria, NTA and government will get to hide the stories, .. whilst private stations will talk about them. So that's why we hate NTA. Niger-Delta politicians are the ones supporting Northern Nigeria. Stop complaining and replace your yeye politician |

Okoroawusa: I have a feeling that this is one of those fake stories on blogs and Twitter written just to generate followership, clicks and comments.
Anyone that graduated with a third class in Nigeria didn't understand the course or wasn't serious in school not necessarily that they are dullard. There are other courses in the university that they could have done better but they insisted on the one they graduated with a third class in.
Secondly, Did he start all over from 100 level in Canada or was he admitted to study for his Masters. If he says that he was admitted to a Masters program in Canada with a Nigerian third class, then I dey look him story one kind.
That you had a third class in one course doesn't mean that you can't make a first class in another course even in Nigerian universities. Some years ago a student that couldn't make it in Medicine graduated with a first class in Mass Communication in UNILAG. A third class indicates that you are below average score of between 40-49%, a post-graduate diploma of 9 months followed by a master degree is very common in the UK. |

Politics › Re: Mele Kyari: NNPC To Construct Africa's Largest Gas-Powered Plant In Maiduguri by sulaak(m): 4:54pm On Apr 11, 2021 |
Latvin: The argument by many people here needs to be tested. There are currently many projects cited in the South like refineries, major gas fired power plants, petrochemical companies, seaports, massive LNG plants, numerous factories, major gas pipelines, depots, fertiliser companies, even several of Dangote's industries.
The North is largely underdeveloped in comparison with the South. To unleash our economic potential, the North has to be industrialised to an extent that it can wean itself off dependency on handouts. The country has gas in abundance, both from the rich Niger Delta or from newly discovered oil and gas fields in the North. Utilising gas for power is much cheaper and more sensible than solar or wind which are more expensive to generate and can't be anywhere near the same scale.
Rather than keep reading meanings to such moves, citizens should embrace it and ensure it benefits our people. The more regions of the country gets developed, the better for all. Attacks by militants on Southern infrastructure did not mean we shouldn't continue building them.
Finally, Mele Kyari the GMD NNPC is from Borno State so that would have weighed heavily towards citing the gas plant in Maiduguri. Afterall, this is Nigeria where some of the decisions get driven by such considerations. Locating a large gas power plant in Maiduguri is stupid and will not unleash the economic potential of the Northeast, a region that is facing turmoil due to irresponsible politicians, religious and tribal rulers Firstly, the reliability of building a gas pipeline from the Niger Delta through Eastern Nigeria to the North -East is questionable, even Lagos Egbin gas power stations does not have reliable gas from the Niger Delta. Secondly, the risk of depending on the Niger-Delta makes no sense, the Niger Delta militant can easily shut down the entire programme. Thirdly, the cost of constructing a gas pipeline from the South to the North-East will cost the best part of $3-4 billion. If the gas pipeline is to connect to the AKK gas pipeline to Kaduna it will still be expensive and prone to disgruntled attacks from the South. The North-East should focus on Hydro and Solar Energy, for now, it's much more economical and will suit their economical development at this stage. |

9jaRealist: It has NOT been 17 years (which would’ve been under Tinubu)... Rather, construction started in 2009 under Fashola’s administration.
Furthermore, as I had already noted elsewhere on this thread, substantial delays in complex and capital-intensive infrastructure projects are not abnormal. Even in the world’s richest-ever nation, the United States, it took 25 years (and billions of dollars in cost overruns) to build the 1.5m Boston Tunnel (the so-called “Big Dig”), while the Second Avenue subway line in NYC was only completed in 2017 after several decades of work. One has to bear in mind that this is a project that was begun when the exchange rate was about $1/N115, as opposed to about $1/N400 presently. That means that, even without any cost variation, Lagos has to find MORE THAN THREE TIMES the original budgetary allocation. > The plan started in 2003, you pay for plan and design they are not free and usually cost millions of dollar. Stop using Western failure as a barometer for Nigeria failure. Will, you also use USA success in road construction to justify Nigeria lack of investment in road construction or rail network. Nigeria failure is unique to Nigeria, poorer countries like Vietnam, Ethiopia and Morocco have been able to build light rail within record time, Egypt, Iran and Algeria have underground rail network. |

9jaRealist: The current schedule for completion of both Blue and Red lines is end of 2022... In the meantime, Lagosians should not be trekking so that all transportation funds can be devoted to only one mode of transport. > It's now 2022! When do you stop defending fraud and incompetence, Ambode, Sanwo-Olu, Fashola are all linked to the same political party and godfather yet they cannot complete a 4-year project in 17 years! Last December, the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the blue line rail project will be completed in 2020 and become operational in 2021. Mr Sanwo-Olu spoke after inspecting the five-kilometre- long beam bridge constructed from Iganmu to Marina, as part of the fourth phase of the project.18 Dec 2020
Immediately the immediate past governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, came into office in 2015, he promised that by December 2016, the first phase would be commissioned. Asked about a start date for the line in an interview conducted in November 2015, Mr Ambode told Reuters: “By December 2016, that should be delivered.”
When the 2011 target failed, Mr Fashola said that June 2013 was the completion date for the first phase of the project. But the projection failed yet again. Thereafter, Mr Fashola said it would be completed before he left office in 2015 but, again, this promise could not be fulfilled.

9jaRealist: Where do you dudes pull this stuff out from?
There was NO such loan from Alstom.... Alstom’s role in the Light Rail project is to electrify a portion of the Blue Line and help Lagos source for rolling stock.
Btw, the “operation of the BRT” is NOT owned by Fola Tinubu. Rather, Primero (the company headed by Fola Tinubu as CEO) is a concessionaire for just ONE BRT route (Ikorodu-TBS), out of the 13 BRT routes set forth in the Lagos Transportation Masterplan. Meanwhile, the same Primero bid for and lost the concession to operate the Oshodi-Abule Egba BRT route. Furthermore, while I don’t know if Fola Tinubu is a “relation” of Bola Tinubu, it is substantively irrelevant since the concession of each BRT route is subject to an open public bidding process (a requirement by the World Bank in making the $200m loan for the Lagos Urban Transport Project, which includes funding for BRT infrastructure). > Who owns Primero? |

travelwaka: Thank you for this question
1. Nope there are other terminal in Lagos, there is one in TBS, there is another at airport road in ikeja, there is another one in ikorodu and many other parts of lagos but in all, this is the biggest
2. Yes they are planning to change the face of transportation in lagos such that driving will seems like hardwork. The first step is to make make the terminals look good
3. Oshodi is like the center of lagos Its less than 10 minutes to the airport Less than 10 minutes to ikeja less than 20 minutes to berger Less than 45 minutes to ikorodu Less than 30 minutes to the island Less than 40 minutes to Apapa And this terminals are built in between two of the most busy roads in lagos, Agege motor road and Apapa expressway Please the above timing is without traffic o .
The only way to encourage the Nigerian middle class to ditch their cars is to make the buses and terminals conducive. Eg if driving take you 3 hours to get to work and BRT 1 hour and the buses are good, the place is conducive, which would you choose? The only way to encourage the Nigerian middle class to ditch their cars is to complete the Blue and Red line now. The middle class are now using the Abuja to Kano railway because it's safe, clean and operational. The Lagos middle class cannot be expected to depend on a transport system that will still have to navigate the Lagos roads congestion. My suggestions 1. Complete the light rail programme 2. Introduce congestion charge, Lagosian should pay to use the roads 3. Use the funds from the Congestion Charge to improve the roads |

PS: If there’s something anyone here should know about me is that I am primarily and principally interested in GOVERNANCE, with little or no appetite for crude partisan politics. That’s why, as a Lagosian, I have always been relatively proud that for the most part since the advent of civilian rule (at least since the Fashola administration), Lagos has seemingly prioritized GOVERNANCE over individual and personal glory-hunting. > Governance and operations were the mantras under the Fashola regime, but under both Ambode and Sanwo Olu, I am concerned that their weak political standing is limiting their ability to deliver critical projects such as the Blue and Redline. It's no secret that the operation of the BRT is owned by former governor Bola Tinubu relation Fola Tinub, I understand that politics always comes into account whenever you are working on a multi-million dollar programme but diverting million of funds from the Blue line to the procurement of 820 buses using world bank loan is criminal. This is after the $400m loan France Alstom. The longer the Blue line and red line is delayed the less likely it will happen, Lagos doesn't have enough roads and bridges to manage 2 million vehicles hence the importance and priority of rail systems in Lagos. Fola Tinubu, managing director of Primero Transport Services Limited, operator of Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), thought it wise to invest in the busiest city in Africa, in a bid to solve transportation issues. https://businessday.ng/transport/article/fola-tinubu-pioneering-modern-transportation-in-lagos-state/ |
