There is not a single asset under majority control of the Nigeria government that is performing at a profit. NNPC has alway perform at a loss and Nigeria has lost confidence in a failed institution.. I will suggest that the government(NNPC) go into a partnership with an established organisation similar to the NLNG contract of NNPC 49% and 51% private ownership. Or copy Norwegian model Equinor is an organisation that is publicly listed, the oil company has to operate at an international standard to on the Norwegian and the NYE stock exchange with quarterly and annual reports any payment, profit and loss must be recorded Equinor ASA (formerly Statoil and StatoilHydro) is a Norwegian state-owned multinational energy company headquartered in Stavanger. It is primarily a petroleum company, operating in 36 countries with additional investments in renewable energy.
The current company was formed by the 2007 merger of Statoil with the oil and gas division of Norsk Hydro.[5] As of 2017, the Government of [b]Norway is the largest shareholder with 67% of the shares, while the rest is public stock. Troublemaker007: I notice a lot people saying they should sell it. I have never heard of Ghana selling her National assets not to mention a refinery to private investors like Nigeria government has done in the last 2 decades, Obasanjo first did it and till date we didn’t see one Naira from the money of the sold assets. A Refinery is no different from that of a car. It comprises of parts and so buying the right parts to replace the already damage ones is the right to thing do. If you change the parts of a damage car, you automatically turns that car into a new one! If the Refinery is beyond repair or the cost of repair is almost 50% of establishing a new one, why not take the refinery down! Sell the parts, add to the revenue gotten from the sales of the scrap parts and build a new one in the same place the old one was. The framework and structure of building a new one is already there so it will be easy to build a new one. These people know what they are doing! That refinery’s fault might not be as big as Nigerians think but will tag it big and beyond repair just because they want to sell it off! to some elites up North (Dangote and Co especially) if not those that have embezzled billions of Dollars and will still loot the money back to their pocket once the refinery is sold to them (That’s like taking it for free! Of course they will give out some few millions of dollars to their slave followers here in the south who does nothing other than selling their people’s birthright like they have been doing for so many year now). These people know Nigeria’s breakup is eminent and soon, so they need to have a strong hold in the South and West at all cost. You think say Dangote building a refinery in Lagos na mistake! It will take years for the West to Understand the mistake they have made, allowing Dangote to build and Own a refinery in the Heart of West. When Nigeria have finally disintegrated everybody eyes go clear! Especially South South!
If you quote me and insult me! I will report you! I agree with the statement that Nigeria breakup is imminent. |

BlueSparks: It's well thought out actually. It is going to unfold in phases. There is a renewal of the 1970s petroleum pipelines network that will ensure streamlined nationwide distribution to tackle the challenges of distribution
Let's not forget Lagos Ibadan expressway once functional will be freer than now.
Planned cargo rail services and heavy..
See. Let me tell you guys the truth
Dangote isn't producing for local production
That's the pure fact. Yes a good part will meet local need but the bulk of his market and his target is international market. This is where the Atlantic Ocean comes in
Kudos to Sailors in advance as much opportunities will begin to open to them
Also, Nigeria brokered an agreement with the European Union to construct a supply pipeline from Nigeria directly to Europe. Indeed his project is massive, highly beneficial to the country. And beyond. I wish him well
I see the country benefitting from it massively
I also like to postulate that he will be the richest man in the world because of this refinery within ten years of operation. Forget the pipeline to Europe, that will never happen with all the insecurity in the Sahel, Europe will never allow their energy supply to depend on an erratic country like Nigeria, insecurity and vandalism will destroy any long pipeline. In the 1990s Nigeria and Ghana built a $1 billion gas pipeline from Port Harcourt to Ghana Damage by Pirates. On August 27, 2012, the West African Gas Pipeline was damaged when pirates who had tried to board an oil tanker in an attempt to get away from the pursuing Togolese Navy, severely damaged the pipeline with their anchor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_African_Gas_Pipeline#:~:text=pollute%20fishing%20areas.-,Damage%20by%20Pirates,the%20pipeline%20with%20their%20anchor. |

Ondo has thick dense forests and can easily access so many parts of the country. With less human density as it's current location.
Let's not forget we will have close to 5 of such refineries in Nigeria so I'm expecting the heat wave and heat signatories over the next five years to scale up massively.
There's Dangote
There's BUA
There's an Ijebu guy who's refining capacity is 500,000 barrels daily.
And a few of such coming on stream in the next few years. What Ijebu guy? |

BlueSparks: For multiple reasons. There is likely going to be sub terrain supply pipelines to distribute to terminals like Apapa, access to rail way terminals and directly to the Atlantic Ocean to supply outside countries. That will be good news , if it happen, but wouldn't that be overloading Apapa capacity. I am convinced that majority of Dangote refined oil would be exported for dollars the logistics fits this model easy access to oil tanker from the refinery own port facilities. The government comatose refineries and the modular refineries will serve the Nigeria communities. |

matrixme: Have you forgotten that the fourth mainland bridge that will link Lekki with Ikorodu is being planned? Ikorodu is going to share in the prosperity of Lagos through this project And of course, straight to Ibadan, where the dry port would have been operational. Common Guys, When will that happen? ...and you are still going to be using large trailers that have completely polluted Apapa. Apapa in the 1980s was like Ikoyi, today Apapa is a rundown extension of Ajegunle. We need to ensure that the surrounding health of the community is not taken for granted, development must go hand in hand with environment protect and community health and safety. The original plan was to locate the refinery in the Olokola FTZ which has natural deepsea facilities but his excused was that the compensation to the community would have amounted to 50% of the project cost ($4 billion) , I doubt that the local communities in Ondo would asked for $100 million. The like of Tinubu and Fashola have as usual, sold out the Lagos communities , just look at all those oil tanks farms and their trailers that are causing havoc in Satellite town. It was gathered that the relocation was informed by the inability of the Dangote Group to reach agreement with the communities in Ondo State who were described as very difficult. According to one of our sources, who is actively involved in the project, “Alhaji Aliko Dangote initially settled for Ondo state because of the relative peace in the state compared to other oil producing states, but the Olokola and Igbokoda communities became very unreasonable in their demands. If we are to accede to their demands, we may have to spend about fifty percent of the projected cost of the refinery on community relations. Since we are not government, we decided to move the project to a more business friendly environment.” |

A refinery being built in the 21st century isn't going to be like the existing ones in Port Harcourt that they now need trillions to maintain. There are now equipments that capture smoke and toxins and release almost harmless gases as exhaust. I'm sure Dangote would spare no expense in this critical project. Real estate in the vicinity of the refinery is going to be the real hot cake in some few years. Oh and Op, Lagos has the market already. It's the first thing to succeed in business. Build where the market is. How will you get the refined products into the interior, remember that the refinery has no railway line.
