Akwamkpuruamu: One day training for python is useless
Completely uses they will need a minimum of 1-month Bootcamp to get the basis and continuous practice over a period of 1 year to be in a position to understand and teach python to their student.
Why not employ established developers to operate government-sponsored bootcamps to train students and teachers
one-day training on Python Programming and Artificial Intelligence across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.
Swealy: I have been searching for a job for some months now and I got an invite for a test, there was a great opportunity to cheat without getting caught I mean chances of getting caught was almost 0 and I did not I probably think if I pass the test i would scale through the other stages Does this make me stupid ?
You will be capable of doing the job if you are selected, the reason why Nigeria is a mess today is that the country civil servants and political officers holders are all cheats.
Blessynene: Hello nairalanders pls I need your unbiased advice.
So I started my MSc program long before the lockdown since I had no job and needed to upgrade, after class work and examination the lockdown couldn't allow me complete my project lab work, all these while I was actively looking for a job.
Luckily I got one with a private firm and decent pay (110k) but doesn't give me time to do any other thing, now my project defence is in a months time, I applied for 6 weeks leave without pay so I can concentrate and complete my project and defence since my job is overly demanding but was denied.
My only option is to resign and come back to re-apply for the job after my defense, I seriously need this job because I have alot of financial responsibilities at the moment.
I am tempted to to let go of the defence for now and focus on the job till am financially stable.
Pls I need your candid advice.
If I was interviewing two candidates for a job, one with a master degree and the other with relevant work experience, I will always take the candidate with work experience.
It seems like you have already completed the certificate and post-graduate stage of the master degree, this is a relevant postgraduate qualification that will enhance your professional profile.
I will defer the final stage of the master degree programme for one year, and acquire more work experience. After a year of employment, your employers might be convinced that you deserve a study leave to complete your degree.
One year of employment usually equals four weeks of paid holiday.
duni04: Well wonderful stats but are you telling me that when the peaceful founders of Boko haram were massacred, Just imagine a scenario where the Boko haram sect members were allowed to practise their beliefs peacefully in 2010 instead of being killed for no just reason, we would not have an insurgency today that has spread to 4 countries.
You are very naive and I am sorry to say ignorance, Boko Haram, meaning = Western Education is Haram, a sect that is against modern education in the 21st century has no future in Nigeria. The majority of the leaders of BH are western-educated but they want an antiquated sharia political system that even the Arabs have discarded. .
Just imagine if we had state governments across Nigeria that had solid developmental programs for their states instead of looting all the money for governance and restricting to just their friends and cronies, we would not have massive poverty and unemployment today. I agree with you that illiteracy is a problem but its not the reason for the current state of the country.
From the way you write, it's obvious that you must be very young. Nigeria has undergone 6 decades of independence, the North despite having 65% of leadership have regressed on all economic and social indicators, the only resources of a nation is it people and if the people are uneducated and control by a feudal Islamic political and cultural system then any chance of developmental program is gone.
With the ongoing environmental degradation, extreme poverty, illiteracy, population explosion and feudal leadership, the North has no hope of succeeding in the current state of Nigeria, separate the country and maybe the North will approach its problems differently
Social justice and accountability in my opinion are more important than cultural or religious views on education especially in the North. Although it is true that literacy plays a role in determining how people elect or choose their leaders and is therefore a big part of socio economic development, we must also recognise that social justice also plays a key role in ensuring peace and stability by ensuring everyone is treated fairly and equally
You can only acquire social justice if you are educated and understand your human rights, right now the Fulani hierarchy are content in keeping all Northerner backwards and uneducated, let's get out before it's too late
duni04: Goodluck if you think this is a North/south issue. Even in the south, we have our own army of unemployed and cheated people that will be equally ready to carry arms and face the people that have cheated them. What is going on in Nigeria is a class war whose root cause is social injustice. Even across the other sahel states like Chad, Cameroun and Niger with a similar population demographic (more than 60% of the population made up of young people), the major architect of the uprisings is the vast army of poor and unemployed people. There is no region of the world where you have that kind of income disparity that we have in Nigeria and have peace. This is a problem whose only permanent solution is to find jobs for the poor, unemployed and cheated segment of the population. And also eliminate corruption and social injustice. Let us all remember Boko haram is a product of social injustice - started as an unarmed sect of unemployed and indoctrinated young men whose members were shot and killed in Borno by the police for no reason. That motivated them to take up arms. The videos are still on YouTube. Something similar happened in the south last year (#Endsars) where young unemployed and even employed Nigerians shut down the country to protest killings by the police and social injustice, same thing Boko haram did initially. The police and army responded to both protests the same way - by killing unarned protesters. Boko haram instead of cowering to the police and Army took up arms to fight the killings and social injustices. #Endsars on the other hand trended and made noise for a short time and vanished, cowering to the police and army. Two different responses to social injustice from #Endsars and Boko haram. Even in America when unarmed black people are killed by the police, riots take place, stores are looted and people are sometimes killed. Social injustice breeds anarchy. A word is enough!
It has always been a North/South issue from the days of Uthman Dan Fodio that conquered the North. Different values, ideologies and cultural interest.
Nigeria already has multiple issues but to introduce political Sharia law in 1999 and tolerate erratic herdsmen across the country has ensured that Nigeria future will be closer to Chad and Somalia rather than Ghana and Kenya.
Nigeria problem has more to do with cultural ideology, the North refusal to educate their youth and women is directly linked to the Islamic militancy ideology that is being practised across the North, in addition to the feudal system practice by Fulani's Sultanate and Emirate.
The literacy rate in Chad and Niger is 29%.
In Northern Nigeria it's is
North West: Male 50% Female 31% North East: 59.5% Female 29%
The average literacy rate across the South is over 87% for Males and 80% for Female
It further said, ” Benue under the Ortom administration ought to cooperate with the Federal Government in the implementation of a number of national strategies programs in addressing underlying issues militating against peace, progress and development. ” This can still get done when the interest of the people is placed above all other interests. A government voted into office by the people, should treat the people as its masters and not as its servants.”
Implement Ruga and open grazing or else Fulani herdsmen will continue their killing .......according to Buhari
Mamaab: Good day professionals. I have a 9yr old son who I think will fare well in either computer programming, software developer, software & hardware engineer or so.
I am just a regular computer user who have zero knowledge on the aforementioned prospects. Pls, someone should tell me where to start from. I am more inclined to the software/hardware prospects
Is his age too small? Do we have specialised learning centres that I can enrol him?
Thanks in advance
There are a lot of materials for free online such as .......
What is important is that your kid must enjoy programming, maybe watching children video games and later learning how to develop children video games. The links above are a good starting point
princewarri1985: Am from the south, but when i heard this man peter obi spoke during a presidential debate on TV, i said to myself, this is a very brilliant mind that need to pilot the affairs of this country, not the dullard and the dimwit buhari, the last time i voted was almost 2 decades ago, but after watching peter obi during the debate, i went out, stood under the hot sun for hours to cast my for peter obi.....did sane Nigerians actually voted for buhari or was the election rigged?? Now they' ve voted for him and buhari is on the steering wheels, Nigerians should enjoy the ride
A so-called brilliant man that decided to be VP for a customs officer.
duni04: The same people that chopped and cleaned mouth from Nigeria are coming out to call Nigeria a failed state. The result of the evil they left to fester yesterday is what we're seeing today. When there is social injustice; when the disparity between the rich and the poor is so stark; when you have a Lagos with many forbes billionaires and a Borno with the poorest people on earth, its only a matter of time before the poor people up North find their way down to forcefully get their share of the bazaar. The insecurity we are seeing today is the product of years of social injustice. The poorest people in Nigeria, especially the ones up North have been cheated for too long. It only took the conflict in Libya to provide them with the arms they're using to correct years of social injustice and neglect. The main culprits are the club of Nigerian elite that have kept the money for millions of people and used it for themselves for generations. Buhari is guilty for having no solution to the problem. But the problem itself was caused by peter obi and his fellow club members. They have looted our patrimony and murdered sleep.
You are a fool, you think the South will tolerate leaders like Ali Modu Sheriff, Kashim Shettima and Idimi, if you are looking for the architect of Northern poverty and backwardness look no further than the idiots that represented the North. Leaders that prioritised shariah, illiteracy and ignorance at the expense of Western education, enlightenment and industry.
uruba23: Something is wrong somewhere, what is the difficulty in rehabilitating a repentant Bandit, first thing you need to let him know is that there is no free money anywhere and whatever help you are Rendering cannot be compared to what he is receiving illegally in the Forest, but he can walk freely.
You don't negotiate when you are losing. Negotiation must be from a position of strength. Northern Nigeria cannot offer the bandit jobs, money or a livelihood, the bandit also doesn't have the skillsets to settle into a productive life.
jawalis: Getting a degree is not a waste of time. It’s high time we stop faulting education for our own deficiencies. Some go to the university to get a degree in Animal Husbandry, some in International Relationship and lots of irrelevant courses in our society. And such individual will later blame the government and education for not getting a job after graduation.
A degree in Animal Husbandry also called Animal Science is one of the most important educational degrees for Nigeria, have you not heard of the need for ranching, poultry and dairy farms, well that is the role of a graduate in Animal Science or Husbandry.
International Relation degree will prepare a graduate for work in the diplomatic services, but will also provide skills that are relevant in the banking and multinational companies.
The problem is not with the degrees, but with the level of development of Nigeria, Nigeria has failed to develop a mature manufacturing, financial and service sector that can employ the millions of youths that are desperate for work.
Seniorwriter: Insightful ..... And the Clueless leaders will pay ransome then he kidnaps again! SMH @how this terrorists sympathizers political class presently in power keeps empowerment programs with tax payers sweats.
We need young proactive visionary leaders come 2023.
#NOTOBADGOVERNAMENT #NOTOTERRORISTSYMPHATIZERS
@Seniorwriter
They have no vision or strategies yet they want to rule Nigeria.
Zulum and Ortom are the most useless governors in Nigeria always visiting Abuja for photo opportunities. They should arm their youths and deal with the insurgency.
Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, says some of his colleagues are only running to Abuja to take photographs with President Muhammadu Buhari, instead of tackling the challenges in their states.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interactive session with some traditional rulers, political leaders, and other stakeholders at the government house in Port Harcourt, the state capital, Wike said the baffling state of insecurity is a clear manifestation of bad leadership.
The governor said instead of some leaders to be bold in speaking against the ills in the nation and sincerely pursue solutions to them, they indulge in sycophancy.
“Nigeria has totally collapsed. Look at today — what happened in Nasarawa and Benue states; how they slaughtered people on the road. See what is happening in Niger state and the APC governor there is crying, saying he has been talking to the federal government but nobody has listened to him. And that Boko Haram has come to take over the state, which is closest to Abuja,” Wike said.
Advertisement “Look at Kaduna and Imo states; there is insecurity everywhere. The only anger I have with Imo state governor is this: I don’t know how people politicise things.
“Nigeria has a lot of problems and they keep running to the villa everyday to disturb Mr. President, for him to see their faces, pose for photographs and will not allow him to work.
“You know you have crisis at your place; you can’t stay to solve it. But every day, you go to see Mr. President so that the world will know that you’re close to him.”
Advertisement Wike also criticised governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for being insincere with their claims that their party has solved the problems of hunger and unemployment.
According to him, governors should focus on finding solutions to the challenges affecting their states, rather than embark on frequent trips to Abuja.
In Nigeria, over 60,000 people have been brutally killed since 2001. Radicalised militants are carrying out a bloody campaign against local communities and no one is talking about it. It’s time to stop this silent slaughter.
Six times deadlier than Boko HaramThe 2019 Global Terrorism Index states that 2,040 people were killed by radicalised Fulani militants in 2018 alone. That makes this conflict six times deadlier than Boko Haram’s insurgencies in the same year.
Indifference is not an option Nigeria faces an extreme risk of civil unrest in 2021.
During the fifth US-Nigeria Binational Commission meeting, hosted in Washington DC, Nigeria’s Foreign Minister told US Secretary of State that the security threat Nigeria faces is existential.
Attacks by Fulani militants on local farming communities have become a major security question with potential global humanitarian repercussions: human trafficking, mass immigration and human rights violations.
Indifference is no longer an option. An organised, coordinated action plan is required to stabilise the country and ultimately bring peace to Nigeria.
Urge the authorities to join us in our movement for justice. We are calling out to our governments to put pressure on the Nigerian government. They must take action towards stopping the escalating violence and putting an end to this silent slaughter--once and for all.
Why doesn’t the Nigerian government stop the bloodshed?
President Buhari’s administration has largely remained silent so far about the slaughter of thousands of religious minorities in Nigeria, in which a vast majority of them are undeniably Christian. The persistent silence from the Buhari government is further encouragement to Fulani militants to pillage and occupy land and to kill anyone who resists. The government’s response to most incidents reinforces the Fulani as group of attackers without criminal repercussions.
-2 How did the conflict start? The Fulani population is mostly Muslim and represents the world’s largest herding nomadic group. They are mainly concentrated in the northern states of Nigeria and in many Sahelian West African nations with a strong tradition of seasonal migration from one area to another, sometimes across national borders.
Conflict over land-use has occurred for years, however in the last ten years the conflict has been exacerbated by radicalized religious undercurrents, as well as environmental factors including drought and climate change.
While Christians are by no means the only victims of these atrocities, the estimates of Christian victims is staggering:
88% of Fulani attack victims in Nigeria’s Benue State were Christians 75% of the victims were Christians In Nasarawa State 70% of the victims were Christians in Taraba State
-3 What is the magnitude of the slaughter going on in Nigeria?
In 2018, the U.S. Department of Defense’s Africa Center for Strategic Studies estimated that by January of this year, more than 60,000 people would have been killed since 2001 in herder and farmer-related violence in Nigeria. Thousands have been injured in the attacks, and hundreds of women have been kidnapped. The conflict has caused large-scale displacement (300,000 people were displaced in 2018 alone) and a high poverty rate. Radicalised Fulani militants have burnt down countless homes and churches and seized large swathes of property. With 2,040 people killed in 2018, this conflict has become Nigeria’s most serious security challenge. The global humanitarian repercussions that will follow are yet to be seen. -4 How can you help us raise awareness?
We must put pressure on the Nigerian government to break the silence, but we need your help to spread the word. Please support us by signing the petition and sharing it with everyone on social media. Let’s speak up for the people of Nigeria.
Sign the petition demanding President Muhammadu Buhari to take concrete action. Let’s put an end to this silent slaughter.
lekki1444: its funny you write that but on the ground in my dealings with northerners they are the most honest and humble people and they will never cheat you. the price i see northerners sell their goods and services i am surprised that they make any profit at all. its like they just want to make enough to eat for the day. but the typical southerner ? he wants to get rich from selling you a tuber of yam. he will so inflate the price. i rather deal with northerners.
They are finished, we will survive and prosper, these are the same policies that the Fulani's implemented in CAR, Guinea and Mali and what happened to them, they were exiled and isolated
anigbajumo: I can remember Babajide of Tvc need said it when some faction of BH shared one short vedio clips claiming they are in Niger sometimess around August last year. He said that FG Should intensity their efforts in some Niger state forest that some faction of BH av relocated to Niger state. Our Military lack intelligent gathering an ordinary journalist knws and study the their terrain. The undisputable fact is that Nigeria is on the verge of collapse, FG has not shown any committed sign of ending insurgency in the North.
Maybe the Nigerian army is just not capable, 40 years of nepotism in the NDA leads to the incompetence that we face today.
Emu4life: All this epistles upon epistles is useless. Dr. Sheikh Ali Isah Pantami is going nowhere. He remains the Nigerian Minister of Communication and digital economy till 2023. He is not a terrorist and will therefore not resign. Those perverts, drunkards, prostitutes, pork/dog eaters, cannibals and confusionists who felt threatened by his pedigree ab initio should know that they can only do to Pantami what a dog can do to a LION. Left to Pantami, he would have resigned (he never wanted to be a Nigerian minister anyway) but he was convinced by the northerners who know he is capable, to the detriment/resentment of inconsequential beings.
In case you all don't know, the Northerners love Pantami now more than Buhari so it's easier for Buhari to resign/get impeached than Pantami resigning or getting sacked. Una go cry tire.
It's this arrogance mentality that will finally lead to the break up of Nigeria and when the country finally breaks up, the regret will begin, on how Nigeria could have been a great country. Great countries require great leadership that bring Nigerians together and not divide them.
Alwaysachick: No more money for house and car. My uncle built his first house with money gotten from this, my cousin who just got married bought his wife a car with same money.
I don't feel sorry for those affected because most of them supported this APC govt because all was going well with them.
They forgot how to emphatize, most of them even became proud.
You are out of your mind and jealous. I doubt any medical intern would afford to buy a car from their intern allowance.
mu2sa2: The Jews are the worst war- mongers on earth. A Jewish child is trained to regard non-jews as inferior to jews.Today Christians and muslims are second-class people in Isreal. To jews your life is worthless if you are not a jew and you can be wasted. Israelis are still basking in the myth that Israel is undefeatable. But Hezbollah's definition of victory is narrow: to inflict strategic damage on the enemy is all they need to declare victory. Just a few days ago a missile fired from Syria landed near a nuclear site in Isreal. While Isreal has built a strong military over the years, they should know that their enemies aren't sleeping either.
Arab Muslim think that Black Muslim are inferior, Fulani't thinks that non-muslim are inferior and unclean, they also look down on the conquered Hausa. Southern Nigerians think that Northern Nigerians are inferior, uneducated and backward.
Nigeria has a Fulani ethnic problem, that has either been intentionally or unintentionally orchestrated by city-based Fulani elites. The current killing field is in the middle belt and the like of El Rufai has tolerated their invasion and paid them off when necessary, but now the Fulani problem is beyond control.
In December 2016 this is what El Rufai said .....
We’ve paid some Fulani to stop killings in Southern Kaduna – El-Rufai
Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has said his government has traced some violent, aggrieved Fulani to their countries and paid them to stop the killings of Southern Kaduna natives and the destruction of their communities saying that the renewed violence is carried out by bandits.
“Unfortunately, it was when they were moving up with their cattle across Southern Kaduna that the elections of 2011 took place and the crisis trapped some of them. “Some of them were from Niger, Cameroon, Chad, Mali and Senegal. Fulanis are in 14 African countries and they traverse this country with the cattle.
“We took certain steps. We got a group of people that were going round trying to trace some of these people in Cameroon, Niger republic and so on to tell them that there is a new governor who is Fulani like them and has no problem paying compensations for lives lost and he is begging them to stop killing

omokudu: I recently saw a job advert for Access Bank entry level for Rwandans, and to my greatest suprise its age requirement is below 30. I nearly weep for my 26 year old friend who applied for the same role here in Nigeria (Graduate Trainee for Nigerians) that got rejected after passing through all the phases of the recruitment. She got rejected at the documentation stage because she was above 24 (yes ooo! 24). Although she was aware of the age requirement, but she made that application thinking the age requirement mighty be waived since she's just 26. To cut the long story short she did not make it past the documentation stage.
Recently I was going through this website called opportunity for Africans, and I saw access bank entry-level recruitment for Rwandans and the age requirement is below 30. This made me to see why most Nigerians often falsify their age.
In the UK it's illegal to discriminate against someone age. You can't recruit base on age, religion, ethnic group or race.
Nigeria is just a weird country, in a country that closes its universities every year, how can you place an age band on graduate that might spend 8 years to complete a 4-year degree.
I am just grateful that I left that godforsaken country.
Maxcollins042: Truth is that these young strikers need the presence of an older and experienced goal getter like Ighalo, who they can learn better the ropes of the striking business.
I doubt Ighalo will come out of retirement. He doesn't have the thick skin to make him impervious to the second wave of harsh criticisms on the prowl.
A good coach would focus on the abundant resources at his disposal. Ighalo was a good servant for the SE but we now new strikers.
It's obvious that Rohr is hot the right man for the job.
