Sorry I missed some spellings in my hurry respond with this thought above.

e.g. Infrastructure etc.
PoliticsRe: Sanusi Lamido Faults Sir Olaniwun Ajayi On Northern Domination by sunnyprof: 10:55am On Nov 08, 2010
However I think I pick some useful points in this thread.

Beaf offered a simple solution, it is one of the prompt suggestion I want:

1. massive education of Northern Nigeria.

others are:

2. Let the elites build more industries in the Niger Delta (from all the so called 'loot' gathered all these years.

3. I also think there is need for 'free and full' education in the Niger Delta State. they also still a lot 'educationally disadvantaged' till now

4. Niger Delta governors should be held accountable to develop infrastutures. They need to create opportunities for their people

5. South West should ensure the continuity of the education and industrial legacy of the Awolowo revolution.

6. Let's sing one tone to our young generation "Home is home: Nigeria, whether North or South, East or West: Nigeria'
it may look like a slogan but it will be the only simple thing they will know about Nigeria above all other sentiments and then we can meet up the challenge of this Unity we are all talking about. NYSC could not achieve this because we are do it alongside keeping our sentiments aloud in our hears too.

I know there are other solutions or Ideas but lets go from here and give it a five year plan, then follow with other macro steps.
PoliticsRe: Sanusi Lamido Faults Sir Olaniwun Ajayi On Northern Domination by sunnyprof: 10:03am On Nov 08, 2010
ND Comrades,

Please lets look at something very objective here:

The challenge Sanusi had posed here is that the pre-independence Nigeria had a better mentality of unity than our present generation. GBAM !!

He is speaking as just a 'Nigerian" and wants us to look for a means to work out a united nigeria where 'east or west, north or south' 'home is home': NIGERIA - no sentiments of ethnicity, tribalism, favoritism or nepotism, One Country united in thought and aim though differ in culture or location.

Can we model after America, a multi-ethnic nationality. Here we have a challenge.

I wonder what people like 'Tudor' (Photo film?) or Canales (Canabis?) look like in human form anyway. Their yabis too bad and it rather seem stinking to stay around these kind of people because you will never get good ideas about serious issues of Life.

It is said that LITTLE minds discuss people (I did not say gossip 'cos it sometimes involve some truth too), AVERAGE minds discuss events (I see, I saw, them say, why that? etc.) but MATURED minds disseminate IDEAS (meaningful gigs that looks at the future or seeds great inventions, inspire creativity and expose potentials).

Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are!!!
PoliticsRe: Ex-militants Barricade Warri-benin Highway Over Allowance by sunnyprof: 4:42pm On Sep 28, 2010
I still wonder what the training given to these ex-millitants realy entail

I expect the first psycho-analytic approach would have been to correct thier mentality of 'free', 'easy' or 'Money by force' mentality b'cos that was the real vein of the millitancy itself, not just lack of job.

It is after this re-orientation to know that you have to work hard to make money, that we can give them a job to do for life!!

ELse, these guys will soon be involved in Crime again cos it seems to bring in 'fast cash' and in bulk too. We all know this.
PoliticsRe: 50 Reasons Why We Should Celebrate Nigeria by sunnyprof: 4:18pm On Sep 28, 2010
Pls sorry for some typo error above.

But as fro TRULY's comment:
The above is what brought it about
And incidentally we did not have so many incidents of kidnapping, assasination etc in 1960
The fact that bothers me is that a lot of countries have left us behind
Both winners and losers cannot be celebrating
I wish to when last did CNN publish any good development about Africa or Nigeria in Particular?
It is onlly WAR, KIDNAP, HUNGER, AIDS, DISEASE, EROSION (which is not realy 'flood' compared to 'kathrina')
The only time you see positive is when one 'oyinbo' man or organisation do some donation or community assistance.

When Naija NGO's do something, no show for CNN. When Nigerians Celebrate or have a beautiful display, no way.

The only locations these foreign news place their cameras in Africa is the 'Gwoza interior village, or the 'Oshodi Oke' of those days or the 'Asawo hotel (chalet) at Kubwa , they will never see the 'Owambe' parties with colourful dressses and wonderful african attires, nor the beatiful streets of VI and Ikoyi, nor would they just poke their camera into the environs of Protea, Sheraton, Nicon Noga nor our Platial State Houses or Amusement parks that litter Nigeria,,

When will Nigeria media focus on the beatiful thins we enjoy in Naija?
PoliticsRe: 50 Reasons Why We Should Celebrate Nigeria by sunnyprof: 4:04pm On Sep 28, 2010
Whoever is looking at the bad side of Naija today is the same 'lazy siting fellow expecting  luck of a million dollars to fall on his lap", which is the lot of Nigerians; expecting the nation to be better when our personal attitudes are generally 'anti-development'.

If Naija is good today, we are all part of it and if it remains bad, we all created (or allowed it). When did you personally challenge little corrupt deeds around you?

Ask Nigerians abroad what they are doing there? are they producing what to send back to Naija's development or just doing 'wakky and die' over there?

Those at home, we all want to 'make it' without a traceable  'it made me' process. Our culture about 'Affluence' is very immoral and yet we shout against 'Corruption'.

The average Nigeria only think something is good when it favours him in Particular or else that thing must be condemmned.

LETS THINK OF OTHER POSITIVE THINGS IN NIAJA making all these foreigners to come here in their millions. Naija a refuge for for many
LETS CELEBRATE NIGERIA, OTHER NATIONS STILL SEE US AS A GREAT NATION

WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, NIGERIA IS KING IN AFRICA, WE HAVE RETUAINED THAT STATUS

WE MUST CELEBRATE
Christianity EtcRe: My Friend's Wedding Was Cancelled! by sunnyprof: 4:47pm On Sep 22, 2010
Ranoscky said this:

[
color=#006600]Why not first of all, ask them (those couple) to confess their sins before GOD (right there in the alter), and after that, ask them to bow their heads and pray for them for GOD to forgive them their sins, before procceedin on the church marraige service? [/color
]

This is an idea like i suggested.

Please we must not forget that those strong people who are able keep themselves "pure" until they married should also be commended, at least if not rewarded just like the unfaithful being punished. what do you also suggest about this?

We need to find some wholesome comments on all this. We on NAIRALAND may the solution provider that the Church may eventually adopt our formula. We must be agent of positive change: The prosperity of posterity is great potency
Christianity EtcRe: My Friend's Wedding Was Cancelled! by sunnyprof: 4:32pm On Sep 22, 2010
what should the Church do else?

What should the Couple do?

Let me set out some hypothetic principles:

1. The Couple ahd commited fornication, but they sincerely want to marry
2. The Church wish to establish that they are 'holy' or at least not having sex since they are not married (Pregnancy started coming up when it was discovered that some married ladies suddenly had a baby after marriage. This embarrases the Church)
3. These couple did not go further to commit another sin: abortion. So they were exposed
4. Is it that the Cancellation was to show the Church is not their partner in sin, punishe them or put them to shame: which? or all?
5. The couple wish to and had to still marry. What conditions are needed or should be followed to process this?
6. What variant or kind of marriage ceremony would, should or could the Church administer to join them in Marriage at least different from 'Holy Matrimony'
7. The Church is expected to be compassionate on them considering the effort, expenses and guest involved in the marriage.
8. This is an example: May be the Church could allow all the Guest to sit, then announce the sin of the couple and ask the Brides Father to personally handle the case, if he wishes to still give his daughter, he should just do it himself inthe presence of the people but the Church may not have to do any other ceremony to do again and everybody goes home. At least people witnessed the giving and also heard what they did wrong.
(Or What do you suggest?)
9. The couple need to render some public apology or show some remorse recognising the fact that having sex while ummarried is sin (we can't deny that even if you indulge in it, it is sin)
10 But something must be done to protect the future of that family who may be seen as sinner today may become saints tommorrow. God still forgives.

etc. etc.

WHAT DO WE THINK?

WE CAN PROFER A SOLUTION HERE WHICH WILL HELP SUCH COUPLE BUT ALSO MARK THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING FAITHFUL OR UPRIGHT AND BEING SINFUL, IMMORAL AND UNRULY.
Christianity EtcRe: My Friend's Wedding Was Cancelled! by sunnyprof: 2:55pm On Sep 22, 2010
We really need to understand the stand of the Church on this issue.

It is well known that a Church would not support promiscuity, not even even mere sex between supposed 'intending couples', not even the Catholic Church where many of us try to think we have so much freedom unlike in the Pentecostal ones.

The emphasis of the Church is "chastity" and if a member of such organisation know the rule, why can't they just endure for a while until the night after the wedding, then you have the "licence to kill" each other on bed. Just the same way, you should frown on a man who 'eats' up his salary before pay day. Yes it is his business, but should we encourage that?

The Bible said "marriage is honourable, but the bed must be undefiled". We should strive to be honourable men and women on our wedding. It only shows we respect our Parents, friends and acquintances. It demonstrate your life of integrity and willingness to do what is right in other areas too.

Does it means that even after the wedding, una go dey do the thing anytime he hungry you? You still have to control yourself. We need to drum this to heart. There are norms in every situation, we can't run away from that.

What we should be thinking now is what should be done if things like these happen

Don't blame the church, they only want to make them example to others that they are not partakers of thesin. But is that all>?
PoliticsRe: Mass Failure In Neco Exams Again by sunnyprof: 1:55pm On Sep 22, 2010
We need to let the teeming youth today know that well being is not all about 'riches', wealth goes beyond that.

I believe if you work well, live well and be at peace, you will be confortable no matter what happens in the economy.

There are people who are not millionaires but they are not poor. Most millionares wish they could trade  their wealth for some respites in life. grin

Most of the so called 'Show bizz' which dominates the media is simply mere show off. Investigate many of them when they are not on stage or on media, you will just ask yourself what all the noise were meant for. huh

I believe in the 'grwoing minds'. They can easily adapt to these if we lead them that way. cheesy

Many regards to all of you on NAIRALAND, you have been great at voicing out what should be and blast what should not. KUDOS TO YOU ALL!!! kiss
PoliticsRe: Mass Failure In Neco Exams Again by sunnyprof: 1:11pm On Sep 22, 2010
We simply do not have "Value for quality"

We always think "the end justifies the means" whereas 'How you got something should first be justifiable!!

In Labour and industry matters today, where is "Dignity of Labour" today. We don't believe in the fruit of labour anymore, we simply want to make it 'rich' by saying not "how far but how well". Our culture currently supports this mentality as "the child that brings money home is the one the mother would praise"
PoliticsRe: Mass Failure In Neco Exams Again by sunnyprof: 1:06pm On Sep 22, 2010
The problem is not just Education. what is our value system?

In Nigeria, we have not been taught or we simply don't teach it again to "value our efforts"

Nigerians!! We like to deceive ourselves!

Don't pity any harlot. they are in there for the money. What are we looking for that would take such girls to Ivory coast.

You know you don't have skill and you want to earn something, how? Why not just go to learn first.

The mentality of just everybody wanting to look important, fabulously dressed, every girl making great hair do's, and a cleaner dressing so well as the Accountant in the same office, or a mere orange seller who thinks she must also afford 'Mary Kay' - i.e. living above your income or without a tool/skill for income at all is the very moral issue we need to adress.

Parents should please just accept there children who are not making 'millions' and encourage them to live at their lown evel, this would be a great virtue once again in this country (this was lost three decades ago)

Society that respects every individual no matter who they are, just as a person would help us a lot
PoliticsRe: I Killed Soboma George With The Rifles He Gave Us: by sunnyprof: 2:31pm On Sep 01, 2010
The Solution!!

1. Kill anybody that killed an innocent person, even Millitant.  If it is in self defence or at rival shoot outs, allow amnesty. Anyone that was an assasin should be killed.

2. Any Political Office holder who is proven to have embezzled should be jailed with higher punishment for higher positions as example to those below them (The Head must show good example) e.g. Governors and Minister, for Life; Commisioner and LG Chairmen 20 yers etc.

3. Once there is an allegation that is rife, the position holder should resign first, then be investigated. Can be reinstated if cleared of all allegations
PoliticsRe: I Killed Soboma George With The Rifles He Gave Us: by sunnyprof: 2:07pm On Sep 01, 2010
The Millitancy then was just organised crime politicised to benefit a few and it served the purpose well because a lot of the boys saw it as the easy way to making Money (big bang money - I SAY CASH !!!) and did everything to join.

However, I do not see why it will not still spread further e.g. kidnapping is now good business (Do you know any business you can make 2m each in just 2days?) and very soon milllitants will rise around Kainji dam soon to protest supplying power to all Nigeria, Kano must riot that Grounnut Pyramid was used to build Nigeria, Odua must be compesated for allowing cocoa money be used to develop Oil etc.

I mean Something in somewhat dimensions would soon come up once people reason that the sensibility of Nigeria shifts to that area e.g. Electricity and Energy  is becoming an issue now, even in Govt. circle. Now politics is a call to be wealthy.

It has just began.

I pity Nigeria
PoliticsRe: Babangida Is Begining To Make Sense by sunnyprof: 5:21pm On Aug 25, 2010
To me Babangida was only a Maradona who works on youe sentiments in order to dribble you to the right while he shoots the Goal with his left!!

The worst of it all: He would have been forgiven and remebered forever if he had only handed over to Abiola (after the beatiful June 12 election he conducted) but he bew it up again by the new vocabulary that sold out in Nigeria then - "Annulment" and instaed of leaving the stage, he decided to give us the impression that he is coming back to take his sit by "Stepping aside'. IT WAS VERY FUNNY.

I am sure if Abiola had come in, we would praise Ibb that maybe he was doing all those Maradony to deceive the powerful ones so that he would give us a final good result. BUT HE BURRIED A GOOD CHANCE!!!

Now i wonder what does he want? To correct his mistakes? or destroy all the (corrupt) lions he bred then? or to gather inheritance for his children? What?

PLEASE NOTE:

1. Some of those agencies created were to siphone our resouces.

2. He didin't build Eleme Ales a Refinery or Fertilizer plant in Kaduna. They were there before he came.

Babangida would have been the Best President in Nigeria because he knows how to gather facts about the feelings of the citizens, He brings up programmes to meet the challenges but it must include a corrupt factor for his own (and gang's) selfish benefits and that spoils it all.

Policies are wonderful on Paper but implementation would be through a conduit Pipe that leads to his backyard

Yes many Higher institutions came up but that was the period you can only graduate after you must have lost 2 or 3 years in between due to strike and riots. I have a cousine who graduated only after 7 years. The essence of cultism was berthed at that period as the 'idle hale hand is the devil's workshop".

He destroys what he builds. Corruption abecame institutionalised, incorporated and became an economic norm - 10% kickback!!

nO WHITE COLLAR JOB PAY WELL ANYMORE, NOT EVEN THE SO CALLED OIL INDUSTRY THAT IS IN THE COMATOSE FOR NOW. OVER 5M OIL WORKERS ARE OUT OF JOB NOW!!

all the professions: Engineering, Medicine, Banking, Military, Civil Service, Accounting, ect. ordinarily do not make anyone rich in Nigeria, until some element of smartness, bribery, pilfering, corrupt practices come into place. This is the fact we need to fight.

Our culture tend to support corruption because families, friends and society at large seems to say it most of the time: "is it not the same engineering you and 'so and so' are into? He has buit 3 estates, sent his children to school abroad and has buit a mansion in the village; but yiou are still struggling to build one bungallow in preparation for your retirement?

We have all lived by this from generations immemorial or 'no be the pikin wey bring money come him mama go praise' again?

How much is N90m? With 9000 staff and 1m Contractors and 222 Chiefs/community Leaders to satisfy, do you think this will be enough to show NDDC presence in all their 'owugri' ceremonies? When only one director or commisioner in NDDC will use over N50m for his weding to the daughter oe of the Governor's, then would this sum be enough all of them?
