gascoign1:
I doubt if she can succeed considering that fact that she is surrounded by failures and unpatriotic government officials, there must be a total overhaul of the entire system else its remains business as usual, By the way,why is Dangote among the Economic team? Dangote cement sells in Ghana for N1200 equivalent and sells in Nigeria N2600 because the Ghana government dictates the price, why cant our government do same? its sad that each year we keep doing the same thing and expect a different result,it is vision 2020 now until we get to Vision 3000 with the situation remaining the same,
Are you a patriotic Nigerian?

What wrong about Dangote being a member of the economic team?

Do you know that thesame Ghana you mentioned, have abolished subsidy on fuel and that the price/liter of petrol is about US$1.00?

Government has no business in setting prices of goods and services, let demand and supply do the pricing.

The subsidy on fuel has outlived it usefullness. Yes, it should be faced out
and whatever money saved from the execise should be directed toward
improving our healthcare delivery and education.

There is no fuel subsidy in Ghana but, have that nation seized to exist?
Ghana is infact doing beter, economically, than naija.

Try as you may, your campaign of lies and ridicule will only backfire.
Shame on you.

This has got to be the funniest shiiit ever, DAMN.

I can't stop cracking up for real,

True True sha, odechukwu is really worthless, Yaradua with 10 missing kidneys sounds way way more competent that this utter waste of space.
Well, I don't see anything wrong in that pix with Mrs Clinton.
Maybe you want her to kneel or fall flat on her face before him.
But it doesn't work that way, that is the way of bush that we are
trying to move away from.
Btw, did you see the pictures of Obama and the European leaders
taken his first visit to Europe? Did see on tv how a PM of major EU country
was hustling to take photos with him?
Your reasoning as regard the president is childish and foolish.
Jonathan is a good president and a decent person.
He deserves our respect.

I think you are the mumu.

PoliticsRe: 2012 Budget: FG Removes Fuel Subsidy & Proposes N4.8tr by sweet9ja: 1:50pm On Oct 05, 2011
Wake up people, the fuel subsidy has long out lived it's usefullness. I support the GON decision to face it out.
Ghana and other neibouring countries that have long done away with and they are enjoying a better standard of
living than Nigeria. They now have better infrastructure, education and even their healthcare system is better
than ours. This is because the money freed up from fuel subsidy in those countries is now channel to other sector of their economy
where it's badly needed.
Those who opposed the propose change are not patriotic and don't have the best interest of the country at heart. I believe their champion ,
the NLC are closeth communists, they are no friends of the common man as they claim.

These are very uncertain times, Nigerian should generate as much fund internally as possible, if not we'll end up borrowing again and
you know where that leads.

Can anyone tell me what mr. Hyundae can to in 9ja?

Don't forget that if past goverments have managed our economy properly, $7b DFI wouldn't be a big deal in the first place.

I beleive GEJ really want to make a difference and the least we can do is not to make a big deal out of issue like this one.
PoliticsRe: Labour Congress Plans Strike For 200% Increase In Fuel Prices by sweet9ja: 10:32pm On Sep 17, 2011
ekt_bear:
I used to think NLC was evil. Now I just think that they are dumb.

We already know most of the fuel subsidy is stolen by corrupt guys connected to NNPC or smuggled to benefit Benin Republic, Niger Republic and Cameroon.

So how can anyone be in support of a policy that spends $1 to give 5 cents of benefit to the common man?

Shouldn't you be fighting to see it abolished and the money spent on something that will actually benefit the people? Policies that spend $1 and give say 50 cents or 75 cents, or hell, even the full dollar to the common man?
Thanks for your observation. I've always said that these clowns (NLC) are closet Communists and are not working for the interest of Nigerians.
My only fear is that gullible and despirately poor Nigerians see the NLC as their champion. We must realise that without these reforms the country may end up bankrupt one day. Argentina went bankrupt in 2005 and Greece is on the brink of bankrupcy.
PoliticsRe: Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Can Contest In 2015 - San by sweet9ja: 7:01pm On Sep 12, 2011
Rubbish GEJ as much as you want but, remember elections (in naija) are not fought and won on NL. And yes, the SAN is very correct, I bet many of you haters have ever seen a copy of the constitution and those who did, have never bothered to read it. If GEJ decides to run no one can stop him and don't think Nigerians are fools to blame him for the state we are in today. Many actually understand that the violence in various parts of naija are sponsored and orcestrated in order to frustrate his efforts in putting the country on the part of development and to make people believe only Hausa/Fulani muslims can rule the country. Believe me it won't work, violence will never be rewarded.

@musiwa, tanx for the photos but, that a lone doesn't tell the whole story. Every country has it set of challenges just like naija.
The problem with us is that we seem to have noticed our problems very late and now in haste to set things right.
BusinessRe: Nigeria Plans To Overtake Egypt & RSA On Economic Growth by sweet9ja: 3:57pm On Sep 10, 2011
In Ceausescu's Romania, everything including electricity was rationed. Romanians at one time where only allowed 8 hrs of electricity per day, even in dept of winter, which btw is very cold there.
If you want to buy a loaf of bread in Bulgeria in 80's you'll likely have to cue and by the time you get to the end of the line the shop was empty. I remember that the average monthly salary in Poland, like most countries in the COMECON, in the mid 1980's was about US$10.00. , even the mighty USSR was despirately poor.
FF to 2011, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Ireland, all in Euroland, are all having huge economic crisis. Greece is at brink of bankrupcy.
Remember, those East European countries I memtion earlier, they are now members of the EU, their economies and living standard have improved a lot, thanks to the complete overhaule of the economies and mentality of the people.
The goals being push by the GON are archievable but, in order to get there, we must make some sacrifices and learn to do things differently.

PoliticsRe: Ministers Unhappy With President’s Directive To Cooperate With Okonjo-Iweala by sweet9ja: 2:27pm On Aug 30, 2011
Theblessed:
Hey buddy, what's wrong with delegating responsibilities, then?  Is it not part and parcel of leadership/management style?

Now, let's clarify this - when Obasanjo was in power as the President, was he also the Defence Minister, Finance Minister, Education etc, eh? Or were those roles delegated to other people? undecided undecided undecided  So, what's wrong with one delegating a duty as long as he/she keeps an eye on the ball, huh?

You see, sometimes your arguments on here are very unreasonable to the point that, one can only percieve nothing but hate floating all over the place in your posts. Such attitude can't get us any where in this country - just give praise where it's due because they say, 'if you can't beat them, join them'!!! smiley smiley

And now, let's discuss this issue about Ngozi? How is Ngozi silly?

Could you please, explain??  Do you love your country at all? Or are you triggering my suspicion that you might be one of those politician's children/relative who are angry because, their milikie has been stopped as their fathers were voted out of office this last election? Are you one of them or was your Minister Uncle a victim of the election, too? Declare yourself  let's see where you're coming from?

What matters, is it threading on everyones toes or ensuring that all our country's revenues are appropriately accounted for, in order to get on with re-building our shattered economy?  Hey, what's your priority?? cool

I wish the President will go further to engage the services of other intelligence and skilled Nigerian ladies as Ngozi - and there's quite a number of them in wait, who could do a better job, I can assure you. shocked shocked  Afterall, women are better managers - Margaret Thatcher managed Britain and the world saw what she did. shocked shocked Therefore, those career politician who think our money is free-for-all will now realise, time's up for them!!

Listen, if you're not quite sure what Ngozi's role is about - it's about ensuring CHECKS AND BALANCES in our economy/country, ok?

The lady is like an accountant, she's employed to account to the country, everything that brings money to Nigerian economy (INCOME) - including INCOME FROM THOSE PETTY BUSINESSES/JOBS like, the street Mechanics, corner shop owners, market stall owners, Mama Akara and Mama put in Nigerian streets all over the counrty, via rates/taxes they should and must pay to their local government before they could even open their doors to the public i.e. before they could even fry any sham sham or repair my car down the road.

This is because, the money they make and not accounting for, through paying their local business rates/taxes, are Income the Government is loosing out and that income is liable to be taxed!! shocked shocked

So, by owing their State Government un-paid taxes, they subsequently owe the economy and that's the revenue Ngozi should account for, if you don't know.

In addition, her watchful eyes are also on how our money is spent by these rogue Ministers (EXPENDITURES) e.g. there's no need to award a contract to repair/maintain Ajegunle road, only for them to give us a receipt for GRADING IT INSTEAD, Abi?. undecided undecided

We need to get our money's worth for job well done that is, get exactly what we paid for - what's wrong with that??  So, stop insulting someone's mother here, ok?

It seems things are getting too complicated for you to hark/understand, abi? Just wait for it!!  Nigerian Ministers have had it too good for a long time.  They'd been used to not accounting for any thing they are responsible for, and now things have changed and they are complaining, why? They better get used to this too, or leave our office. cool cool cool

@Theblessed, Thanks, you've just made my day. In other countries the citizenry would applaud Mr. President and approval rating would have skyrocketed, not in Nigeria, cos' of the chains of corruption, hatred and tribalism that is holding some Nigerians bound. These people see nothing good even in the light of day. Well I don't blame them they are used to darkness, they are used to the old ways, they used to the corrupt way.

No state in the federation is anything near "developed".
How can you talk about development when they all lack basic ameninities such as light, running water, transportation and decent housing?
However, Lagos is moving in the right direction and Cross River, even it has Calabar as sole city, check out Obudu ranch, the pristine forest and the gorgeous mountains, really pretty. I love to retire there some day.
