haulagehandlers: Actually, you are very wrong."Strong" is about being able to let go of whatever tormented or is tormenting you. If you supress your pain only to take it out on a stranger who accidentaly stepped on your toes, sorry that's not strong. You see, in psychology, there are different ways of expressing/dealing with pain. And one of the most dangerous ways of doing this is supression. It only leads to bigger more compound issues in the individual. A man who later becomes a harderned armed robber as a result of going through a rough childhood, is actually not being strong enough to deal with his past in the right way. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. |
stillwater: The society is different. Our experiences are too. Even church is different. The longer you stay abroad, your emotions start getting softer too and forget A is Z to us.Actually, you are very wrong. Victims of rape over here don't just put on their panties and walk away as if nothing happened. The only reason why they keep mum is because they are scared of the stigma associated with rape over here and being blamed for the rape! Of course a rape victim here will not commit suicide, but you cannot even begin to start to imagine the trauma she will go through afterwards. The empty feelings, the feeling of being haunted, that helpless feeling you get when you wish there was something you could have done to stop it, that had-I-known feeling, that maybe-I'm-only-good-enough-for sex feeling you get when you wonder why you were raped. This can pyschologically affect a rape victim so badly that it destroys her self esteem and a woman without herself esteem is better off dead, I tell you! As for the bullying part, most internet bullies here on NL for instance are actually victims of bullying themselves in their real worlds. Most of them are introverts and this may have been as a result of not being accepted by their peer groups, thereby making them to crawl into their shells and spend all their time online. Contrary to what you think, Nigerians are NOT strong people. We are NOT happy people. We only like to pretend that all is well and because we are religious, and we believe in miracles, it gives us the hope for a better tomorrow. If you want to test how frustrated an average Nigerian is, step on someone's toes in a crowded bus stop during a fuel scarcity period. |
bakynes: Its pple like you that deserves to die in a plane crash nt innocent souls that will speak the truth.Ngige and Okorocha dat u tongue lash u do dat because they choose APC nt because of any wrong acts they did.Don't mind him. Gosh but I honestly don't know how some people think. I used to think Yorubas were the most tribalistic people until I became a regular visitor here. God forbid! |
This is just sooooooo sad! |
Lionbite: 5 Thing Me I Do Before 8.amDon't allow ASUU control your life! Get up and start something new! Biil Gates is a colleage drop out you know......... |
Laff wan kill me! |
I am sick and tired of seeing half-baked, half-fried and half-roasted so-called graduates who cannot construct simple sentences to save their lives! It's now or never. It has to be the full loaf of bread or no bread at all! Nigerian students, I advice you to go to private schools. if you cannot afford that, then go start small businesses! Of what use is your education if you cannot secure good jobs afterwards? What use is your degree if it is not respected in international communites? Please think about this. It's now or never. Join in the fight so that your kids can have a better future! |
jayriginal: Most of the people condemning ASUU have no clue whatsoever. Get yourselves enlightened!Bravo! But it is really sad! Nigerians have gotten so used to being used by the FG that they don't want to be rescued. It's like a wife, an abused wife who is so used to being treated like dirt by husband that she now enjoys the pain. There's deep pain in my heart because I know that no matter how hard I pray for Nigeria, Nigeria will not get better because the people themselves do not want change! |
wesley80: I know they've been paid, I know someone that got paid and I know how much about 3 cadre's of staff received. It isnt a state secret and I'm actually more angry with the FG for making the money available before the strike is called off than I am with schools for disbursing it. Feel free to confirm from any lecturer you know at the ***** university. If you confirm its a lie, this would be the last time you see this moniker in Nairaland! It's not a matter of if they have been paid. The issue is that are they being paid well enough to deliver high quality education to students? Are schools well equipped? |
tnktosin: I really feel like calling you mumu, but I'd pass. Some people are amazingly.......... can't find a word. smh |
FlamingGun: When will they hold a prayer session to ask for forgiveness for looting the country, after which they will seek penance by returning their lootYour head dey there! |
Aigbofa: They should all resign and hand over their duties to God.Your head kampe! |
That has got to be my bluntness and sincerity. Rare gems these days in a world where people prefer to be lied to! I won't lie to you o. If you like love me, if you like hate me. I have enough friends already thank you! I love my psychological intelligence too. I love the fact that I'm just me! |
Lol! See some of you 24/7 online introverts forming bad boys! hehehehehehe Anyway mine appeared only once. I have always been a quiet, stay-out-of-trouble girl people love to pet, right from primary, secondary, during my NYSC (I was already known as Miss NYSC by corpers, soldiers, and NYSC officials even before the pageant!) and now that I'm working, I get special favours from the ogas and madams. Back in secondray sch I used to have a strong friendship with two girls in my class, we were the most liked girls in our set and I suspect the girl who wrote my name that day was jealous of this. She included all three of us! When the teacher who requested for the list (he had a crush on me!) finished reading out all the names and found out my friends and I were included, he pardoned the class and you can imagine how surprised everyone was cos that guy used to ENJOY flogging students like crazy!!!! The girl who wrote our names almost fainted and my friends and I got even more popular! lol! Dunno why girls can't just realize that jealousy is a disease! I thank God for blessing me with favour everywhere I go (my offline life ofcourse) |
kennygee: The bible says that just by conceiving the thought, you have done it. So let this be the basis for your answer. But we all know that in reality, that's not possible! Even if you don't actually do it, you will think of hugging and kissing someone you are supposed to love once in a while. |
Bukato3: Bros you mumu small oo.No offenseThank you jare. The story looks very real to me. Village children love. And not all villagers are illiterates. |
jmoore: Try and educate yourself and don't quote the minister out of context.Inevitable you say? So it's inevitable for a govt to conciously and purposely neglect their responsiblities right? No be only you go school oga. The act of God being reffered to in insurance includes things like accidents resulting from bad weather and other natural disasters. mtcheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew |
kbdrim: I wonder why God would always choose Nigeria for his experiments in spite of the fact that we are so religious. .Help me ask them o! smh |
Smartie gurl: Choi! I smell an e-war already....when will the both of you stop this behavior?e-war ke? If I ever reply any of her jibes here again may sango and amadioha strike me. God forbid! And please stop saying "both of you" cos as you can clearly see she started it. So direct that question to her. Cheers! I'm outta here |
Smartie gurl: you don dey find wahala abi? You no go focus on the thread bah?Don't mind her. I might have had a rough beginning but I'm almost married while she's still a single mother who stays online 24/7 due to lack of a social life. Mtcheeeeeeew |
Pardon me please. I am almost 29 years old, I have been there, done that. And I will always tell my ladies NEVER NEVER date/marry a poor man who has no solid potentials in him. Please forget all the he's kind, loving, gentle crap. Most broke guys are VERY good when it comes to identifying damsels in distress. They can smell a love-starved woman frm miles away and they take full advantage of this. Most broke guys are usually kind, loving, and gentle cos that's all they have to offer! Even then, after a while, after they ve gotten married and settled down to real life, you will start seeing their true colours. You will then start seeing how insecure he can be and my dears, I wouldn't wish that for my worst enemy! God designed the man to be the head of the family, and being the head also means having enough to stand well on his own two feet (even if the woman may be earning more) Dear OP, talk to your sister, also try getting close to this guy to see what he has inside of him. Is he a 2nd class upper graduate? Does he have a determined spirit? Does he strive to be better? Does he have goals, dreams, ambition? If you can't honestly find these things, do what you can to stop your sister from marrying him! Also and most importantly, Check if your sister has been giving him money, gifts, etc. If she is, then your sister is on a long thing...... |
stanley10122: Apparently dem homos have finally learnt how to hit d self destruct button#justwhatwe'vebeenprayingforYou are right sha, if only they can infect themselves ONLY...... |
Pvt_Parts: that is a myth.Don't mind those so-called gay activists. Gosh! Human beings ehn! I just wonder how God feels when he looks down at us sometimes. |
DailyNews: you're always making senseThanks! Yes they live fake lives. They want to form "big boy/babe" for their peers and make people feel they are living the life. Mtcheeew My close banker friends tell me what they go through. One of my neighbours who happen to be a top shot in a bank just left for an oil coy. The situation is TERRIBLE! If you enter their inner offices, you see them fighting themselves like crazy. And yes I believe women should not work in banks or as Customer Account Officers in telecomms coys, etc. The stress is too much and nobody cares what you must do to retain, attract new customers. |
The FG should attach a warning "bankers are liable to die young" to the labour market. The stress there is amazing! Forget it o! It is only top bankers that get to enjoy the money. The rest of them take home peanuts but because they need to keep up an impressive appearance, the borrow to look and seem rich. Even top bankers are now finding their ways into oil and gas and other sectors. It's getting worse by the day. I really don't know why our youths are so scared of starting their own business. Anyway, not everbody has the guts or the discipline to run a successful business. |
hillsate:Can you imagine that the preacher spent more energy talking about out-ward things instead of concentrating on the inner-man? It's really so sad. Very sad. |
Jeel: All these na lie. Stay with the scriptures and not visions. Blessed are those who do no see but believe. Rapture will not take place even a hundred years from now.Ah! My brother, it can happen next minute o! Nobody knows the day. We can only prepare for it. The bible says that the rapture will take place after the gospel has reached every single ear on earth and all the end-time prophesies have been fulfilled. If you look around you, the world is now a global village where news from one end of the earth reaches the other end within minutes, you can also see that there is really nothing new under the sun anymore. May we not be found wanting on that day. Amen! |
Op, it is preachers like you that actually drive people away from God's kingdom because of the way you preach with all this your "don't do this" "don't do that" style of preaching. Na wa o! Very soon now una go say make we no dey smile at the opposite sex or even talk to them again. You people make Christianity look like bondage! Smh. You will be very surprised that on the judgement day, God might hold most of you responsible for all the souls that you scared away with your so-called laws! He might ask you if he sent you message to translate and modify his book to suit your military life-style. You need to learn that certain verses of the bible are not to be taken literally. A word is enoiugh for the wise...... |
faithin9ja: tomorrow somebody will open a thread asking why there is no Nigerian university in the top 100 or the top 1000. Harvard, Yale, MIT are private universities, how good is the discipline in those institutions? Are you saying 'yankee' children don't smoke igbo, have wild parties, cut lectures, etc. Yet these and the other 1000 universities are still sought after for the brilliant education and research that goes on and is always improving in those institutions.Thank you very much for this! It is the same mentality that makes some public secondary schools prohibit girls from keeping their hair in school. They claim the low cut will make them concentrate in their better. Indeed! yet students with the best students at WAEC are from private schools where students don't even plait their hair! We black Africans just like to enslave ourselves. That's all! |
You guys are lumping all private schools together. It is only the faith based ones that are like that. Normal schools like Igbinedion University, where I attended give their students enough freedom not to allow them feel choked. Students can go in and out as they please (curfews apply when there are unrests though) you can cook in your hostels, eat, sleep, or study any time you deem fit. Nobody tells you when to got to church or mosque or when you can go for school activities. If you like don't go for lectures sef, Na your own business. You can wear what you like as long as your body is not exposed. Night life is VERY active, everday of the week and you can even go out naked at night. You can use any kind of phones as long as you don't bring it out during lectures. About 70% of students own cars. In fact, they compete with each other every session! Only thing is that we were never allowed to have an active student union govt and I don't think they have done that yet. The only time they force students to comply with rules is when it involves money, like hikes in fees, introduction of new bills like laundry, transport, etc. They are also strict with security (which is a good thing anyway) No child of mine will go to any Christian school with such strict rules. NEVER! I believe once a child gets to the age of 18, he/she should be allowed to make their own choices on certain issues regarding things that shape their future. |
Joel.:I was just about writing something like this. They have a point about it promoting more stowaways though, but knowing NLers well, jealousy is the main driving force in their comments. |

It's only murder or death that gets an expressive response from us. Then you would see Africans rolling on the floor. You are only celebrated when you die in your violent husband's house than when you divorce him. There are millions of girls in Nigeria that have been raped that just picked up their underwear and went on as if nothing happened. They only feel shame and do not feel that there's an injustice that has been done to them. Take the ABSU rape victim for example. What dignity that woman is protecting is beyond every single brain cell in my head. I'm still annoyed about that incident. See the poverty in Nigeria, and we say we have a government. We are not in touch with our emotional side. We have been desensitized to hurt, pain, wickedness, dejection, hate, strife, and helplessness by the biggest bully on earth - the Nigerian government. We have been trained very very well in a concentration camp Nigerian style. We hardly commit suicide but show our fruits in other flamboyant styles like fraud, crime, prostitution, aggression and the incessant need to loot and loot and loot.
