well the trust is am a Kwaran and I can tell the level of hardship our state's going through as the slogan of apc on jingle is 'apc change...apc oloye{saraki}. Its not democracy here at all. Even during the time when state governments are recieving the ECA,Kwara worker's Salary is never complete. Poor state roads and few projects here and there. E just dey pain me.
Kai! Stop it right there...even APC has not said Jonathan steal...they are only pointing at missing moneys under his administration means he's a failure. As for Buhari arresting Tinubu...it wont happen.
jpphilips: People have been stealing so Jonathan should continue stealing right? News flash! I hate APC but I love Buhari with a passion, whatever will stop stealing is what I am rooting for, as for Tinubu, I feel so sorry for him daily as Buhari grows in popularity, Buhari, will be tinubu's worst mistake, mark my words, If Tinubu wants to know his fate under Buhari, he should ask IBB.
jpphilips: Your thinking is not even inside the box so don't bother thinking outside, else you will run mad. How will your GP populace even compete favorably in employment creation when Mr President has continued to allow Nepotism in all recruitment exercises? Even immigration death did not compel him to do something about nepotism.
How do you expect a jobless Nigerian to buy your made in Nigeria Nissan? what is the overhead cost of running Nissan Nigeria and how does it translate to the cost of a Nissan patrol?
I was at Innoson's new show room at Nnewi just Opp. Ikemba's house, the price list was so scary that i had to ask if those cars were Assembled for Nigerians, Mediocrity is a curse.
you're really funny...you forgot that Nigerians will be employed in these companies. You're as ignorant as your pay master. You're myopic to a fault. Sey your Buhari has promised to give everyone white collar job in the ministry. Chai! He's indeed going to send Nigeria back to the ancient days.smh
And councel these projects because they're too expensive? You're as ignorant as your presidential candidate. I cant believe this. Mediocrity and we're just coming up. Niger get real.
Image123: i'm not being pessimistic but being realistic. Input and investment have to correlate with output and gains. If i'm getting 1000 from a billion naira investment, it is simply not good enough. That is not pessimism. Six years is not the BEGINNING, GEJ himself said it. He told us that he cannot do anything after four years, he was not under duress when he said that. He was humbly saying the truth. And we need to be straight here, who are the new guys again? APC? New guys? It's convenient for people to refer to them as the same as PDP when they feel like it, now they are the NEW GUYS. Buhari is not a new guy, i know him very well. In the options available, i think he has my vote.
LUDALOOLO: In 2007, President Jonathan declared his assets worth a total of ₦ 295,304,420 Naira ($1,845,652 USD).[8] However on 9 October 2014, the richestlifestyle.com website ranked Mr Jonathan sixth on its list, claiming his net worth was about $100m (£62m). He threatened to sue the website, claiming it "was an attempt to portray him as corrupt."[9] The page was removed, but was then published by another website
infact I dont want to believe you since he's put infrastructure in place so its cool by me. Unlike people that eat and do nothing yet hating calling the works mediocrity!lol
You are a damn pessimist! Oliver twist. These are not mediocre projects...its been a while any government has done things for us. Wake up from propaganda. I believe this is the begining! Lets ask him to do better with our votes...we cant trust the new guys simply the tell us to. If we're crying we should see.
Image123: God forbid that i should be jealous of at best a mediocre performance. It's not about My Ogun State, it is about my Nigeria. i have a Nigerian passport, Nigeria is not the exclusive property of PDP association. i mentioned Governors Akpabio and Ameachi as well, you didn't see that i guess. With all the might and money of the FG, if all they can show us are roads, GEJ inside car and promises on newspaper and CNN which are more a estimate due to our population than our policies, then that is a failure. Again, Amosun has better pictures than that despite not producing oil, not to mention Akpabio and Ameachi.
He too cost or he nor cost so far its on ground and completed I dont care. Smh people are wicked sha. They are these desperate for power there's God oh.
anonimi: Splashme, Arysexy et al una do well oh for the photos wey una don paste so far. Una wey never post una own, make una nor too tey before una put una own for here too.
The TRUE progressives who are passionate about seeing the CONTINUITY of this revival that we have not had for so many decades shall surely carry the day in our great nation.
Thats why we should applaud Jonathan for his FOI...the technology thing might just work but jailing people should also be part of it. Some of Goodluck's policies are commendable forget the corruption. Please lets listen to him a little bit. Maybe there will be a way to curb corruption with technology. Let Buhari also come on debate to tell us how his own jailing style will curb corruption because I think its a key point to talk about. lol
Sometimes when I read all this God forbidden lies from men and women of People Deceives People (PDP) and their paper government, I asked myself Am I in the same Country? or HOW MANY NIGERIA DO WE HAVE? Finally, I came to understand that am still in Nigeria. A Nation where corruption has infiltrated the fabric of the land, Nigeria. It has become a way of life. Corruption exists, not simply at the human level, but at an institutional level as well. Our political climate and sociocultural narrative is fundamentally shaped by corruption. Corruption manifests itself in different ways, both on a micro and a macro level. Policemen collecting bribes is just one of these said manifestations of corruption in Nigeria. Bad roads, intermittent to nonexistent power supply, ill-maintained infrastructures, black markets with stolen resources such as oil, embezzlement of funds by public officials, electoral crimes such as ballot stuffing, politically sponsored ethnic violence, politically motivated erosion of the human rights and dignity of persons, are amongst these aforementioned manifestations of corruption
MadCow1: China's 5000 megawatt cost them 4,000,000 dollars per megawatt..
Nigeria's 800 Megawatts cost us 25,000,000 dollars per megawatt...
And you blame it on cost index?
Most materials were imported at Zero cost in duties.. You know that right?
I am an engineer myself and work on oil field projects and understand how we pay more for works but to the tune of over 300% inflation is criminal..
I know that Jonathan is horrible.. Even judging him by Obasanjo's standard and Obj comes across like a saint.
My take is not from newspapers or hear says but from things I have seen in the course of work.
I cannot honestly vote for Jonathan.. My dad says he can't vote for Buhari for religious reasons but will not vote for Jonathan and so he isn't voting in the presidential election.
I am afraid we are soon going to have need for a 2000 and 5000 naira bill as the naira keeps free falling against the dollar. Now 215 naira to 1 dollar.. oil prices 45 dollars per barrel from 120 plus..
Goodluck to you people..
Well Buhari has not convinced me he'll do any better so no way, am not giving my vote to him. I've compared the two's government policies...Goodluck's stand supreme. So you dont know that no one is a saint? Corruption is part of the system such that we as society should fight it tooth and nail. Otherwise, the one that promises us he would, will not at the end of the day. Do you remember OBJ's promises did you not? My brother even GEJ's more sincere than GMB's holier than thou's attitude. What we need is a corruption free society, then from which will proceed a corruption free Government. Our ideas is government or leader should be incorruptible so that we will not. Thats wrong, recall Buhari ended up being indicted for corruption even with his anti-corruption crusade. Fighting corruption should be institutionalized not personalized. Lets deal with corruption from the root out.
To say that corruption is only this administration is a big lie. People have been stealing our cash since! Now that there's freedom of information,we know then its Goodluck's fault. One thing that is not right about Goodluck's stand on corruption is that he'll not jail at all because corruption is not about money alone as is the case of you mentioned regarding contracts. My brother, the idea of not entrusting cash in people's hand is applaudable. You should consider that the lagos-ibadan express way was reawarded...you dont know the scam in these construction contracts. Contractors do leave project after the administration is over. Thats why we should let these project complete before so these man can come back to taste the jail he did not put people. After his immunity is over,we'll punish the offender. But truth is 4 years is not forever in a nation's life. Again its wrong to price contracts like commodities.little wonder these contractors are coming to make billions as donation. Lets not get angry yet. In fact lets vote him back into office...the time to punish this man has not come.
MadCow1: I don't see his achievements as anything worthy of mentioning.
I work in the oil and gas industry and have been fortunate to work directly with NNPC, DPR and NAPIMS and I have seen the issues caused by the Presidents inefficiency and corruption that comes from on high. What many Nigerians see as corruption is the 50 Naira bribe collected by the police at Checkpoints, what I see is when Contracts worth billions are given to incompetent aides of the President under the influence of NNPC and co.
If Jonathan had looked into the Brass LNG projects and the Samsung Heavy Duty yard in the South - South, that would easily have created over 25,000 jobs. But the corruption that has held those projects back have cost Nigeria Hundreds of Millions of Dollars without any progress made.
Most of the achievements of Jonathan are either projects that started before him and we're completed under his administration, poor quality over priced works or just too insignificant to be worthy of calling a federal project. Apart from the Second Niger Bridge, I can't see any project worth calling federal.
Most Nigerians are truly in the dark as to the corruption pit we currently find ourselves in. 20 Billion Dollars got missing under Diezani and she is still holding her office. 320 million plus were misappropriated under Stella and she gets fired without being charged to court. Alamiesigha that was Jonathan's former boss that cost the Federal Government millions of Naira to prosecute was granted a pardon by Jonathan and then he says he wants to fight corruption with technology. Lol.
Achievements are relative. How can China build 5000 megawatts with 5 Billion dollars and Nigeria build 800 megawatts with 20 billion be considered an achievement? How can Nigeria and Mexico take loans to build their trains.. Nigeria builds locomotives and Mexico builds speed trains..
Are we cursed as a people or just too lazy to care?
Forgive for not celebrating mediocrity.. I am well travelled and I have seen that we are too wealthy to be this useless.
Dont be like Buhari that prefar to strenghten the naira and avoid debt thus councelled the cool things Shagari has paid for.
akajos4real: You dey show picture of what? Say the ordinary man get housing? Get Light or get Food? Say the ordinary man fit buy the cars or what? All of the policy trust of Jonathan never benefit the ordinary man for anything except you go tell me something? Make I tell you my own? No food, garri, rice, plantain e.t.c. are more expensive in this country than ever before. Yet them don revolutionize agric sector, wetin them dey grow? Apples? because them dey cheaper than cup of bean or rice/
Them say the wage bill for rice importation don fall because we dey produce rice, where the rice and wetin be the name? All the rice I see for xmas na imported rice and more expensive including the one for Kashamu warehourse for Ogun state.
Transport policy, if I work for government for 20yrs without stealing I nor fit buy the cars he say he dey roll out meanwhile the Tokunbo wen the poor man dey manage the govt don raise tarrifs HABA!!!!! Na who the policy wan favour?
Wetin, I wan talk? So my broad talk your own make you tell me how the ordinary man don benefit from the government policies wen them dey talk about.
You're ranting but you did not put our population into consideration. Basic fact is that our production may have grown at arithmetical progression but our population have grown by geometric progression. The implecation of self-reliance as a nation is that there will be employment as more people will go into the business such that the supply into the market will exceed or be sufficient enough for exportation. The same goes for vehicles...should our country be a dumping site for used cars when you can buy Nigerian made cars cheap? Just use train as you safe up for your own Nigerian made BMW when they start production or assembly. 4 years is not enough forget campaign talks. Inosons will be forever grateful for such policies. By the time all the auto companies realize just how fertile our economy is,they'll invest because Nigeria is the ideal hub for Aafrica or at least west Africa. In the long run,its for the benefit of the poor cos they're the ones that cant afford brand new cars. Think outside of the box.lol
MadCow1: Apart from Obasanjo, no other Nigerian Government has ever invested in Power..
That said, How come you have failed to answer Obiageli's query on the cost of Jonathan's 800MW ?
I have addressed her point already. Most of the materials are imported into the country.including the technical man power. It should cost more to set up power plant in Nigeria than China. Beside year matters too. Because there is cost index increase every year for setting up any plant at all. Google cost index for power plant. I did plant design as my final year project aside research so take my word for it. Dont mind Obiageli who's been convinced that the power plants are mediocre projects.I must say things are not as easy as APC says. You need to research to know that for a President,Goodluck is not half-bad.lol
Comparing construction in another country with ours does not add up. It should be cheaper in china than Nigeria. As a process Engineer myself its about the nearness to raw materials and other logistics. Funny thing is the cost of steel materials in that plant would have been cheaper had your Buhari have not removed shagari from government. The sweet ol Ajaokuta steel would have been doing us wonders. While writing our final year project to design a waste water treatment plant I realized Nigeria is a sorry case. My self and a colleague worked on the costing...we realized that the raw materials from start to finish are not from here except the building structures which involves sand and water. Dont join APC to rant and cry foul cos they did not want GEJ's achievement to mean a thing to us. Common wake up!lol
Obiagelli: In 5yrs gej has added less than 800 megawatts to the National grid after spending over $20 billion. China's 5000 megawatts power plant cost less $5 billion
Electric demand in February 2006 was 7,600 megawatts (MW), but actual generation capability was 3,600 MW.
No its not nonsense! Its called infrastructure. Buhari was wrong for not doing those project for the fear of naira devaluation and debt. This is how to grow economy...construction,construction and constructions. This will make business easier. This is how to drive economy. With these investors will start building companies that will employ us. See the bigger picture. Well the money saved during the high price has not finished...lets continue to build our nation. Say yes to transformation agenda
Obiagelli: This nonsense with $ 40 billion dollars debt and average oil prices @ $100 a barrel. SMH
NJPot: GMB for life. I support and will vote for Buhari. But I had a shocking revelation. Some people I told about the revelation said I might be suffering from malaria but the revelation looked very real to be malaria.
It all started when I knelt down to pray. After entering in a deep meditation for about 5 mins, I saw a vision of a spiritual entity who showed me a picture and said to me ''this is Nigeria's next president.''
I was surprised because the person in the picture was neither GEJ nor Buhari but was another presidential aspirant from the North. I asked the spirit why the picture was not that of GEJ nor Buhari.
The reply I got from the spirit was that Buhari would get the majority of the votes. But Jonathan and strong PDP chieftains would buy INEC to declare him(GEJ) winner. This would make Buhari die of heart problems. But Jonathan would be shot dead afterwards. INEC would then declare the person that scored the third position as the president since Buhari (1st) and GEJ (2nd) are dead. Click like if you believe that Jonathan would agree to handover power to Buhari by May this year. Click share if you think that Jonathan would continuu
lol you're clueless. Why's it that Most apc fan that I've seen are not that smart.
cbay: I laugh at you silly. It seems you don't know that the power of vote actually comes from the poorest and low lifers. The elites you mentioned don't have time to vote and prefer to watch from their 100” TV rather than queue for hours to cast vote. So my guy keep laughing. I bet you there is no way GEJ will win without RIGGING
dont be so sure...dont trust politicians,Goodluck might still win. The allegations might just be based on pure propaganda.
Ochiske: Buhari and GEJ's perception towards corruption Chief Bisi Onabanjo, Chief Bola Ige, Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Sam Mbakwe, Chief Ambrose Alli, Chief Apa Aku, Chief Jim Mwobodo, Chief L Kayode Jakande, Chief Alex Ekwueme, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Umaru Dikko... Are list of few corrupt people that were arrested during Buhari's regime, some were even sentenced to death. What did GEJ do about corruption? He granted presidential pardon to corrupt officials such as; Diepreye Alamieyeseigha Gen. Oladipo Diya, Mr. Shettima Bulama, Maj.-Gen Abdulkareem Adisa.... To mention few corrupt people who got presidential pardon. GEJ and Buhari are people of opposite characters, one supports corruption and the other doesn't. From statements made by GEJ you can tell his stand;"Stealing is not corruption"" How much did JIM Nwobodo stole? Moneythat is not enough to buy a puegeot and Buhari jailed him". Trillions has been declared missing under GEJ's government... GEJ promised to use technology that doesn't exist to fight corruption Buhari promised sentence then to jail, they will share the same prison with the common man on the streets Nigerians, vote wisely
Rather than end corruption, fight insurgency, revamp the economy, create job opportunities for the masses, this is all what the Johnathan led administration can reduce Nigerians to!
What a shame
*modified* I cant believe it I made First to comment the guy below me is either insane or very much insane
2015 gonna be a great year for me, apc, buhari, nigeria!
Am with you on this and guess what? I hated Goodluck's gut cos of the impunity episodes but when I studied his policies and polity I he has won me over. Do you know With the help of Information Technology (IT) Jonathan has helped to prevent corruption: e-Wallethas enabled Jonathan to eliminate corruption in the agricultural sector. Now, every farmer has direct access to fertilisers unlike before IPPIShas enabled Jonathan's administration to eliminate corruption in the payment of salaries to civil servants. Now it's computer software who pays civil servants and no longer the Finance Officers of the Minstries or Parastatals or Agencies. goPRS, a public procurement review software is a corruption prevention tool for public regulatory authorities (check the software developer's website for more details: http://goprs.unodc.org). This has really helped in curbing the corruption practices during procurement. This development along with others is a slow process but a steady one. Our Transparency Index (an index used to access the corruption level of a country) has improved due to this scientific approach by Jonathan. Click on this link to see the slow but steady improvement: http://www.vanguardngr.com /2014/12/corruption-index- nigerias-improvement- confirms-jonathans- anti-corruption-fight/ The fight against corruption should be institutionalised and not personalised. Nigeria shall be great. The idea is to eliminate the middle man in government dealings. So who'll steal the money they cant see? Government's money will only be entrusted with people that are accountable where disburment of funds will be from CBN into the beneficiaries bank accounts...please study on this. Fighting corruption is by jailing wont be necessary with this method. The oil thefts and nnpc saga is quiet unfortunate. Do you also know that the anti corruption campaign of Buhari was fought back and that led to his removal? Fighting corruption with blows means corruption can blow it and come back with a fierce uppercut. Or even a knock out as in the case of GMB though not corrupt but his corrupt officials that went to collect the 52 briefcases ended up indicting the innocent General. The process is gradual and with its completion we'll know who to hold should our money get missing cos we'll know who to hold accountable. The cyber crime law has been enacted by Goodluck to protect this new system of government dealings. Am down with this...pure genius!
Oluwadare: Well, I'm actually not totally against mr president. He come around like a nice being, but it is his decision making abilities that is swaying me away from him precisely. Just show me that you really want to eradicate corruption as a leader and I am all yours. Corruption is my problem fight it and you win me all over. However, this is the only country we have and i imaging we are all clamouring for the betterment of Everyone in it peace.
CityNG: You're a classic example of idiocy. It's not your fault when the educational institution are always on strike or closed.
Where did I blame anything on anybody? Son, some of us are more matured than to lay blames. The critical thing is going forward.
I'll take your harsh reply as a mistake because if you read my comment again I did not say you blame everybody. I said 'people'. Be quick to listen but slow to speak. Its nice debating with you Compatriot!
He should debate and better be convincing enough because you dont apply for job without tendering your certificate and without attending the interview. Are we that desperate as a nation that we cant reason? Yesterday I respected Sambo for the 1st time ever! He was able to sell himself. Buhari should attend it please.
Oluwadare: what do you mean? I just listed my understanding with their decision to declined any debates. Pls can you tell me why its a must for GMB to go into any debate? Is there any law enforced such that may have escaped my mind?
philips70: I guess you are one of those who mistake oratory prowess for sound knowledge and an aboki as dull because of their intonation. Google and listen to him everywhere he has spoken on national issues and the economy removing your PDP and ethnic lenses to see what he knows and can speak about. This is a former president, PTF chairman and minister of petroleum resources we are talking about who performed meritoriously in all assignments. Bias is like a battery acid, it can kill in minutes.
in other word he should not debate,in other word he should not submit his certificate,in other word its cool to ban the press once they criticize his administration...he does not look like a changed man to me. THIS IS NOT PROPAGANDA
LRNZH: It is not just about understanding. Realise that GEJ's mismanagement time is up and vite Buhari. We need a new start for Nigeria.
Am voting for Goodluck I want Buhari to tell me himself about the said new start and how his own is better than Goodluck. See am done with trusting politicians oh forget that shit. Let him attend debate, follow due process like submiting his certificate or my vote is for the incumbent who has been bold enough to voice their transformation agenda. If am crying I should see too. A man that will come into office that may render the press powerless should not be trusted.
It pays to do some reading and research some before offering an opinion in a public fora.
"The founder of the Maitatsine sect, Alhaji Mohammed (Muhammadu) Marwa was not a Nigerian even if his activities would later lead to the loss of thousands of precious Nigerian lives. He migrated from the town of Marwa (Maroua) in northern Cameroon to Kano State in 1945. Marwa, which is a center of cotton industry is also the capital of the Far North Region of Cameroon and the predominant religion there is Sufi Islam. Maitatsine settled in the warm and hospitable city of Kano, acclimatized and adapted to their ways of life."
This is what Wiki suggests and it goes to contradict what you suggested
"Some analysts view the terrorist group Boko Haram as an extension of the Maitatsine riots.[9]"
