I wish mr. Odein ajumogobia will just abandon this shambolic group. He was nigeri's most luminated and internationally respected foreign minister. He should squander a bright political future with this thieves and ex-con's!!

livethinme: lol and you think Brasil wont come to try and get trade deals on its own terms? Or that Brasil wont care about its own interest?
the difference my friend is we are negociating on equal terms without the intimidation used by western nations to expliot developing nations like us. So whatever MOU or trade deal that will be signed will be balanced and fair to both countries.
PoliticsRe: Brazilian President Rousseff Visits Nigeria by Symphony007: 4:42pm On Feb 24, 2013
olas2u: I dont get you?Brazil as lifted more people out of poverty. It as world class companies around the world.
brazil like nigeria is developing, there is a rising middle class in both countries and that is the main reason we need to work together. Go and see all the slums brazil is destroying, all the poor they are relegating from rio to make way for facilities for the coming olympics!!
PoliticsRe: Brazilian President Rousseff Visits Nigeria by Symphony007: 4:35pm On Feb 24, 2013
This is the kind of partners nigeria need in the world today, countries who like brazil who share a goal to be an advanced country. The west have proven that they only care about their interest and they use the back of countries like us as stepping stones to the top. We must know and engage with our "real" friends in the world.

trigar12: Abeg help me teach jonathan on how to eradicate poverty and develop our economy. Dat jonah guy is clueless
you are a prolific fool, your ignorant prevents you from knowing that brazil has as many poor or even more poor people than nigeria. So who will teach who? Rather than you to encourage this partnership, you vomit rubbish from your mouth.

FamilyRe: Raising Kids Who Do Not Beg by Symphony007: 7:29am On Feb 24, 2013
The best way to prevent your child from begging is to try your best to provide all that child needs and teach them to be content, never let them say to other kids, "gee, how i wish my parents can give me what yours do".

Nairaland GeneralRe: Dubai's Miracle Garden Is World’s Most Beautiful Garden by Symphony007: 9:16pm On Feb 23, 2013
manny4life: First off, there's no need to compare Dubai and Nigeria, if at all, compare UAE and Nigeria. However, no one was comparing both nations, I simply made a comment "unlike Nigeria", Dubai isn't dependent on oil. Now that we have resolved that, NEXT

Nigeria without oil would have made Nigeria a hell hole, oil is the thing keeping us alive because we've not been able to diverse away from oil. So I think you're the one wrong on that.

You honestly believe that foreign investors coming is because of young population? Lol, dude, don't get me started. Investment in an economy depend on several other factors including "HUMAN RESOURCE" which is gauged by the active able bodied population. While human resource is important, it can be imported.

It's true we have one of the best soil, I'm not disputing it, every city has comparative advantage to the others. For you to say their economy is dependent on royalties to govt is just funny at its best.

Tourism will always be there for them, they have real estate, they have manufacturing, they have resources, just like NIgeria, they're good in their own field.

I don't know why you're singing they are empty, is it only you who doesn;t know the global financial crisis?

Abeg, please don't put words in my mouth, no one is comparing UAE to Nigeria, all I simply said id, "unlike Nigeria", they've diversified their economy and not oil dependent.
nigeria will drown without oil? But nigeria had a dynamic economy before oil was found which brought us the groundnut pyramids of kano and others?

This is'nt rocket science it's simple economics. Corporation needs a vibrant population to provide cheap labour, also to consume what is being produced and he rest is exported. Also they need incentives like good roads, security, etc. And yes citizens of the UAE don't work. They recieve monthly salaries from the government. Go and do your research. Due to the non-existent workforce, labour is imported!!

The crash of the dubai real estate market started before the economic crisis and it's still on going!! Properties are being sold at give away price. Even the burj dubai is half empty, mention one manufacturing company that produces in the UAE. Just one.

Tourism is a bubble!! It bust at anytime. Thank God you used nigeria as an example. Go to tinapa is calabar and see what a failure it is. Where are the tourist? Even obudu cattle ranch is dwindling to the point roads leading there is going bad and planes hardly lands on it's airstrip.

And finally, there id nothing diversified about the economy of the UAE. It's just oil and the emir of qatar realise this, that's why he is buying buisness abroad like al gore's current t.v and erecting buildings like the shard in london.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Dubai's Miracle Garden Is World’s Most Beautiful Garden by Symphony007: 7:04pm On Feb 23, 2013
manny4life: Dubai and Abu Dhabi, are they not part of the UAE? I watched the documentary of the Burj Khalifa on NatGeo, what I'm saying in essence is that they have a better diversified economy. They borrowed money because housing market were on meltdown, which affected majority of their investment.

As for who they choose, do you blame them? If Africans cannot put their house in order, why blame another who puts theirs? Was it not Jimoh Ibrahim or someone who remitted $500million to Dubai last year to build a mall or hospital or something, the news is out there, then u wanna blame them? Nigeria has worse slaves than they do.
classifying tourism as an essential part of an economy is very dangerous. Tourism is a bubble and can bust anytime. Spain experienced what dubai is experiencing in the 80's and today is it one of the reason their economy is in shambles. The UAE has made their population virtually lazy. I've live in almost allthe UAE states. In qatar they pratically don't work cause they recieve their government royalities. They spend their days in massive malls shopping, racing in the desert with their latest ferrari and hummers. Kids they just enjoy life and have no work ethic. So tell me what happens to this country when oil dries up. Can the people work? What will they be usefull for?
Nairaland GeneralRe: Dubai's Miracle Garden Is World’s Most Beautiful Garden by Symphony007: 6:55pm On Feb 23, 2013
manny4life: Really? They are wealthy in oil doesn't mean they're depended on it, that was my point. It's nothing wrong to explore your resources, it's just bad when you depend on it. If UAE runs out of oil today, they're still 20x better than us, wealthier as well, because though they have oil, oil is not their major source of revenue, and like you rightly put TOURISM is a major part of their economy.
you're so wrong on so many level. Nigeria without oil will be a billion times better than the UAE without oil, nigeria has a large and young population will always attract foreign investors. We have some of the best soil for farming and our minning sector is pratically virgin with billions of dollars attached to it. Meanwhile the UAE has an uncredibly low non-working population who recieves royalties from the government and import others to do their work for them. Their tourism industry is a bubble that will bust anytime soon. Almost all there highrise condo's are empty, the burj khalifa is half empty, their man made islands are mostly uninhabited and their debt is growing.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Dubai's Miracle Garden Is World’s Most Beautiful Garden by Symphony007: 6:48pm On Feb 23, 2013
manny4life: Dubai is just going place, unlike Nigeria, they do not depend on oil. Looks pretty, lovely and serene, that's where my wife and I are going for our next valentine... before I finally propose "will you marry me"? kiss
yeah dubai is fine but they don't have an economy. All they do is enjoy their oil wealth and live in lavish opulence meanwhile they import africans and phillipino's to do their work for them. This is not gonna last for long. The cracks are already showing. They had to borrow money from abu dhabi to complete the burj khalifa and their man made island luxury homes are pratically empty along with all their highrise condo's and the last blow to them will be the coming fall in the use of oil.

Wow!! This is really good work by the SSS, iran is a know exporter of terrorism and we must'nt allow our country be a port, we already have boko haram to deal with. We must send a message to the world that we cannot be intimidated just as were're doing with russia for their arms smuggling citizens.

PoliticsRe: Patience Jonathan - PDP Will Defeat Opposition Parties by Symphony007: 12:28pm On Feb 22, 2013
Common sense is not common!! Apart from you and i who follow news..who else knows what APC is? How many grassroot, low information voters know who APC is? But they know PDP who gives them rice and wrapper and cash when it's election time and they vote accordinly. If APC does'nt carry out the greatest grassroot campaign ever and tell ordinary nigerians why they teach them how to fish rather than giving them fish from time to time. Then mrs jonathan is not far from the truth.
PoliticsRe: States' Public Debt Stock Is N1.8 Trillion by Symphony007: 12:18pm On Feb 22, 2013
I can understand what states like cross river and lagos are using borrowed money for but bayelsa? What is bayelsa borrowing money for? What projects are they executing? Plus all the money they get in royalties and allocations. A small state like that? Hmmm...the senate had better start considering merging staes like bayelsa back with rivers for efficency not thinking of creating more stupid states like lagoon state.:@:@
EducationRe: MAULAG: Jonathan Reverts To UNILAG by Symphony007: 12:10pm On Feb 22, 2013
The nigerian presidency is ridden with idiocy..so the federal government cannot make decisions and stand by them. I've lost count of how many times this spineless government has gone back on a decision due to the shambolic opinions of some. They have set a presidence for other federal universities in this country. What is the use of a government that can't make decisions? Utter nonesense!!!

all4naija: Why do you use cars, mobile phones, televisions, computers, etc? Aren't you imitating Europeans? Inferiority complex in you.
what a shambolic point you're making. Those things are called "development" and it is not restricted to one country alone. The british started the industrail revolution and it spread to germany and france, did it stop them from speaking french or german or affected their culture? Same with the car from america, train from england, aeroplane from france and u.s. Your arguement is baseless.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Commends Lagos For Eko Atlantic City's Successful Completion by Symphony007: 10:35pm On Feb 21, 2013
It's amusing reading some of the negative comments here about the president. Because it just shows an exceptional level of idiocy and pure personal hate for the guy. Disagree with his policies but when you throw in all this personal attacks you seem petty and frankly tribal!!!

this is just disgusting, if you've got nothing good to write and refrain from writing!! How does his body posture concern you or diminish the nation. If you don't like his policies or presidency do so, but don't stop this pathetic personal attacks!!

kuzzieOtiz: When will Dubai go bankrupt? cheesy
they're already bankrupt..the emir of abu dhabi had to lend them the money to finish the building that's why they named it after him, burj khalifa..and half the building is empty along with their man made islands. They're dumb spenders.

glimpse: please do not say this in public. It is obvious that Amaechi is a talkative governor. Rivers state is in shabbles. If he is elected president, then prepare for a worse administration than that of Goodluck.
what is your definition of shabbles? Is free primary health care center in every community shabbles? Is free schools, free uniform, sandals, books, lunch shabbles? Is prosecuting parents shabbles? Is running the largest overseas scholarship program in nigeria shabbles, what about the largest fishery scheme, small buisness loans program, best power supply in the south south...are these all and more shabbles, think before speaking!!
