sonmvayina: the morning star is the planet Venus....it is always discribed as a "she"..just as earth is too..Mercury, Mars etc are always discribed as "he",,.. Revelation 22:16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. Is Jesus a He or She? |

OLAADEGBU: "I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was" (John 17:4-5).
No, He did not stop being the Son of God but He did not come with His glory as God. He laid aside His glory for a time so that He can finish God's work with His creation. Does "laying aside his glory" make him less God? In other words, if I had worshiped him at that time, would I have committed idolatry? |

JMAN05: No, if only you understand that by tradition he is not limiting it to things not written. Those not written and was essential for any xten were later committed to writing. 2tim 3:16,17.
Nothing was taught then that was not implied in the written text nor were they ever against the written word. 2Tim3:16,17 " All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." In the text you quoted, I see " All scripture...", I did not see " Only Scripture...". No one is arguing against the profitability of scripture, don't deviate us, but scripture has no where made itself the sole authority. Rather, scripture did recognize that there are written and unwritten inspired teachings. That is what scripture contain in 2Thess.2:15. " Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle". I don't know why "word and epistle" is so ambiguous a grammar to understand. It seems each time you read "tradition" in that sentence, you switch off, tradition there means all Christian teachings, his epistles and oral teachings (he stated this clearly). I cannot still find where scripture said every thing has been put down in writing, at the time of the apostles, show me if you know. |

Ubenedictus: Webster's Bible Translation And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself, and to Apollos, for your sakes; that ye may learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you on account of one, may be puffed up against another. Exactly. That's why i wonder how he supposes it nullifies "Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle". 2Thess.2:15 (same Webster's Bible Translation) |

yetseyi: Well they are not true and you didn't comment on my veiled question, Are there other materials or books you classify as scriptures ? By scripture in this discuss, I understand we are talking about the books of the Bible. Isn't that what you also understand? Now tell me why those my points are not true. |

yetseyi: Seems there are other stuffs you guys refer to as scriptures apart from the bible but if not I just observed that the 3 of you are still using the scriptures as a reference in this discourse
I really can't believe what I am reading, The Bible cannot be used as the sole authority in faith conduct or our Christian life? traditions seem greater than the Bible? Issorait.
May the eyes of our understanding be enlightened Amen.
God bless you too. No point being sentimental about it, I laid out points. Are they true or do you have any thing to counter them? |

yetseyi: Hello, I am not really interested contributing to the discourse itself I was just reading through as usual and I saw these set of statements and I was . I couldnt just let it pass.I have not read the comments after this post yet.
Why shouldn't the scripture be the basis of every Christian conclusion , If its not biblical then its not right. In fact the holy spirit will NEVER contradict the bible and that's one way to be sure its the holy spirit that is speaking.
So Yes the bible should be the basis of everychristain conclusion . At bold...because Jesus did not leave us any scripture as our basis of conclusion when he established the way. ...because it isn't in the scripture that only the scripture is our basis of conclusion ...because it actually contradicts scripture to claim that only the scripture is our basis of conclusion. ...because the scripture contains only a part of what is known as the Christian tradition, hence cannot be the basis for all conclusions. Lastly, it's important to take note that those names mentioned by the OP are the Originators of "sola scriptura" ie they believed in only scripture as the basis of conclusion, yet they believe in the perpetual Viginity of Mary, this should make a humble person ask what he is missing, find out which scripture guides them, and not dismiss them all as not following scriptures. God bless you. |

MrMontella: let me help you... Cc syncan italo ubendictus... Would like to see syncan's reply on this tho..
I think the bible supports their position tho...but i dont think its possible in a real life setting... The person you are trying to help is too proud. What he needs first is humility. "God resists the arrogant, but he gives grace to the humble." James 4:6. |

polkabluedot: It seems as if I have to beg for everything a normal person has in life. I am tired of the life I am living. Imagine praying for something you are not suppose to pray for, for 3 years and still no answer. Why God has chosen to make my life like this, is what I can not understand. I agree with SalC, be patient and do good while you wait. I pray for you too. |
