This is what shld hv happend all along |
ceejay80s: oga, its like u cant tell the difference between cheating and corruptionhahaha....what is the diff plz. Kai! Nigerians and Hypocrism, ehm.. |
@topic, i am always astonishd at d Hypocrisy of most 'talking' Nigerians! Was it not Nigerians that were shouting: give dem Amnesty AND let the youths monitor the pipelines cos they know dier areas? Most 'talking' Nigerians supportd these 2 moves sm few yrs ago at d height of d Niger Delta crisis, even though a few of ppl (including myself) were cautious of such calls; Yar'adua then gave Amnesty to d youths while GEJ gave dem contracts to 'protect' d pipelines. So while are ppl complaining now; was it not what u guys wantd. Bunch of confusd noise makers...... GEJ shld NOT renew d contracts for the youths, moreso that a provision in PIB bill provides 10% of d net profit of Oil companies directly to d villagers with d conditn that no oil pipeline shld be vandalisd in that village- this hopefully wud force ordinary villagers to help security agents protect d pipelines that passes tru dier lands. The Amnesty programme shld also be gradually phasd-out by paying a lump sum to those youths who hv already finishd their trainings instead of continually paying them and keeping them in d programme; while those youths still undergoing training as well as those that were brought in dis yr shld be allowd to finish with their trainings after which they wud be paid a lump sum and askd to leave d programme... LESSON: Nigerians shld undastad what they really want, and then be willy to stand by their choices |
lagerwhenindoubt: That would be ascribing too much initiative to GEJ where there is none. He is not hell-bent, he simply wavers to any side that says NO twice. If he tries to resist MEND and they say NO, NO he gives them amnesty, If he tries to resist corrupt oil marketers and they say NO, NO he pays up. I was dog-gone sure that a teary-eyed GEJ made this clear to the US-Envoy that he is not fit for the role of President (thanks to WIKI-LEAKS) but hey 90% of Nigerians voted anywayWas it GEJ that gave amnesty to MEND? Are you this dense? Which Oil Marketers 'pay up' are u talking about? You live in Nigeria at all? Oil marketers that have been so denied monies that they can no longer afford to import fuel, service their loans in d banks, sm are actually closing shops, just as more than 45 of them and dier companies are currently been prosecutd in batches (anoda 7 new ones were just arraignd in court yterday); again, which 'paying up' Oil marketers are u talking about? How does obvious Lies and Propaganda sound in yr heads b4 spitting it |
Let them 1st remind Mariam Murktar (the Chief Judge of Nigeria) who is a fine Northerner herself, to appoint the Special Judges on Corruption Cases as she promisd more than 4 months ago. Even if they get this law pass, cases wud still continue to spend eternity in d courts and not much wud be done..... 1st tins 1st: appoint Special Judges for Corruptn cases, and others can follow. It is simply d most critical tin that can happen in d fight against corruptn in Nigeria today, and it is the simplest tin we can get if sm of us just keep reminding d CJN to fulfill her promise |
How can a few Fulanis be controlling the majority Yorubas in that city and state? Just pondering... |
Can someone tell these House of Reps Chaps to give accelerated hearing and passage to the PIB bill 1st. Shee they were supposed to start the 2nd Reading this week?... Homosexuality law, which I support, can then come later. Get your Damn PRIORITIES Right! #passThePIBbill NOW |
HNosegbe: So many money-making opportunities these lazy, visionless leaders continue to pass up, preferring to wait till "oyel" money comes every month.AGREE.. tax them hard. That is what is done in other climes |
Great. And since this is cming frm Dangote, it almost certainly would be done. ... in the mean time, Fertilizers comps need GAS . Nigeria has lots of it but needs investments to explore, exploit, process and transport it- not just for Fertilizers but for other companies and industries that need it as feed stock and as an Energy-mix, for Power plants, LNG etc. Dont see this happening cept the certainty related to the non-passage of the PIB bill is cleared. #PassThePIBbill NOW |
Just a quick question cos I dont want to involved in this 'Private Jet' Bashing of NL lately: is this his jet or someone else's? If it his own or his state's, then there is a problem; but what of if it is neither, maybe a Presidential jet (or someone's else really) he was travelling in and cos of time decided to cut his BD cake in? Una go still dey bash am? Or people just ave a problem with rich chaps nowadays? All na questions o.... |
tomakint: Sure I agree with you that the deregulation policy helped them a great deal, but what do you make out from our leaders that loves to mouth and waffle on 'real issues' without making any serious moves to ameliorate the ills in the sector. If by now we are still struggling with four ailing refineries and Venezuela can boast of 17 working refineries (as at Year 2000, don't know how many they have now) then this calls for sober reflection. Oil as you know is exhaustible!!!Consensus...thanks again for yr points |
Gbawe: Dude, stop quoting me. Go and get some pills for your depression, rabies and psychosomatic disorder. I see you as nothing but a mad animal.foool..i quote d internet creature by d above handle at times just so that at least sm of d propagandist nonsense that 'it' spur wud be put in sm perspective. A handle that wud defend every single thing that ACN does, even d most sublimally stu.pid; a handle with no value and an inherent inability to add any value to debates, except doing d hatchet jobs .... Okpee! Notice that its about only d handle here without a single suggestn as to d possible way forward. Too much talk, no substance |
take dat: What happened to those private firms including state government licensed to build and operate refineries? Where are the greenfield refineries Diezani promised? In the pipeline I guess? Yes, we can be successful with regulated refineries for "local consumption" and deregulate those for "exportation"I dont know, you tell or explain to me. I actuali hv an open mind on dis issue, and am only interestd in d solutn.... By d way, d reason mostly given for the private investors not been able to build refineries (including d IOCs) who hv bn given licenses for more than 8 yrs is cos of d regulatd environment. But i wud want to hear alternatives though |
Nigerian Press? These days? Bunch of clowns. Propaganda galore on all sides. Lies, half-truths and distortions everywhere... But wait o, hw in d hell wud NLanders be complaining? Are they not d chaps that bring these thrashs on d frontpage and are gullible enuf to bliv same themselves?... Abeg give me a break |
Gbawe: Sad sap. Were you not aware of how one of the first actions of GEJ , after winning the election, was to consign our Refineries into the hands of the NNPC for "turning around" over a 2 year period? Who does not know that the NNPC is perhaps the most corrupt and most inefficient government parastatal in Africa capable of delivering only failure? Why would "fresh air" and the "transformational crew" continue down the failed route?Just shut yr mouth there. The refineries are still in d hands of d 'corrupt and inefficient' NNPC cos people like you (and me unfortunately) opposd d Deregulatn of d Downstream sector; and no private investor wud go there without d govt handing off d sector- the same reason all the international and local investors that Obj gave licenses (including yr lord Tinubu tru Oando) have not built anything for more than 8 yrs |
tomakint: To those who think Nigeria is serious about combating the gross corruption in our Oil Industry, I am saying it out loud to them all that they should think again. This same U.S, whose system of government, democracy, we claim to practice (of course, this is no real democracy), had over 500,000 manufacturing firms as at 1990 while Nigeria had 3,200 as at 1992. The United States had over 14 million businesses in total as at 1990 while the few ones we had are begging for serious financial assistances. The year 1976 saw the United States receiving 39% of business employments through its small businesses industry and from 1969 – 1976, about 16 million new jobs were created. The breakdown: 1,000 largest corporations created one million jobs; state and local governments created three million jobs while the remaining 12 million jobs were created by small businesses. Now imagine what this arrangement will be generating for Americans today. In Nigeria, these small-scale businesses that we ought to give support to are neglected by the designated institutions (Micro-Finance Banks) for frivolous activities, little wonder unemployment rates has risen to an unbearable rates in Nigeria! Everybody knows that the case of our age-long, moribund refineries could be linked to greed, personal aggrandizement, monopoly of power and status which all stem from corruption. The time to build more refineries had long been wasted and under-utilized. Still on the United States, the 1,500 refineries they possessed as at 1990 were largely owned by private hands – sign of entrepreneurship! Our governments are fond of heaping the blames of their poor performances in governance on our large population. We all know that Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Thailand are nations with smaller and bigger populations when compared to ours; yet, they encourage information technology (the case of India), small-scale industrialization (as seen in Singapore and Indonesia), and tourism (as seen in Malaysia and Thailand). Truly, all these factors had put them at an edge over their past economic woes and the fact is that they don’t have the myriads of resources we possess! The US has 1500 refineries you say, but do you know that the US downstream is fully deregulatd and hv been so for a looong time? Do you think they wud hv that sucessful if they didnt hv a deregulatd economy? Can we ever be as successful if we still hv a regulatd one? QUESTIONS needing answers.... Sm good points you made though |
eledalo: SHUT UP! BUHARI WROTE THIS ARTICLE. TINUBU OWNS THISDAY NEWSPAPER. FRESH HAIR! FRESH HAIR! GEJ IS WORKING!Sharrap there, my frnd hahaha...the 18% is for 2006-2009; i think d current capacity rate is around 40%, LOL.... Speaking seriously sha, me thinks the recommendatn on majority shares of d refineries held by private investors is interesting. I was just wondering what would hv been happening now if Yar'adua allowd Dangote to retain part-ownership of PH and Kaduna refineries which OBJ sold to him even if sm persons thought $200m was too small for the skates he bought? Just a question though |
lacasa: Ɣou F.O.O.LSee dis illi! So Sani Keita is a southerner abi? Adamu Ciroma also made statements in that regard, and both Ciroma and Keita were linchpins in d Northern Political Group which they formd in 2010 and on behalf of which they were speaking. IBB, Atiku and Gusua were membas of this group; while Buba Galadima who is the closet confidant of Buhari made even more acidic statements in April dis year, excluding d one he has been allegd to hv said previous. Look tru d article again and see d names of the 'Congregates' there |
take dat: The committee was not made up of Ribadu alone but has eminent personalities like Agbakoba, Ighodalo and others, so we should stop centralising it on Ribadu alone. That the task force added a clause that government should verify and reconcile some figures does not make the report inconclusive. They only added the clause because some corrupt government agencies such as NNPC, DPR who are enmeshed in corrupt practises did not assist the committee with accurate information as well as the multinational oil companies. To buttress this point we should cast our minds back to recent probes of the oil and gas sector such as the House of Reps were the data given by CBN does not tally with those of NNPC and the Ministry of Finance and vice versa. So trying to balance the books of these institutions is highly impossible because of the corrupt and porous system we operate in Nigeria. The only advisable thing which the committee did was to recommend that the government since it has all the powers to get the information by itself.Plz @take dat, for God's sake stop inputting things that arent there just cos u want to push yr viewpoint or agenda. The committee neva said that sm of the data/info they usd were inconclusive/unverified cos sm govt agencies stalld d findings, but they stated unambigiously in dat 'Disclaimer' letter that they didnt hv enough time to do their work (which is curious cos in leaking d report they gave d impression that d report was 'final', which was also frankly d DECEPTIVE word Ribadu usd when submitting d report which we now know to be false). This report that is even not saying more than we already knew: the oil industry has been inefficient, wasteful and corrupt for decades, and making Recommendations which are mostly already in d critical PIB bill presently in d NA, has been shamelessly POLITICIZE; and it is such a shame that many ppl hv playd alone.... By d way, talking about Agbakoba plz go to Punchonline to read an article about his views on d committee he servd in and what he thinks of its current politisatn; also in d same Punch, try reading anoda article by d ACN on how they are changing their original tone on d report and really realising that the Propaganda they initially pushd is failing. Anoda article yterday on The Nation also showd that d report actuali exoneratd NNPC from under-reporting crude oil sales in at least recent yrs (even though they are oda infractures d NNPC has been involvd in). I will post these 3 articles once I get a hold of my laptop..... The point really is that if we left d silly urge to politicize d report and focusd on real issues like finding out what really went wrong with d sector for decades and then trying to find a SOLUTION to it, we may hv been doing d sensible thing; we may start d Solution making by resolving to push d PIB bill tru d NA this time around |
GenBuhari: Shame on NigeriaWhat nonsense are you saying? |
Wondaful! So Buhari sat down with IBB, Atiku, Gusua and even Tinubu to make political deals in other to get Power- d very people that he has been saying are thiefs and destroyd Nigeria; he sat down with 'thiefs' cos he wantd power, ha kai?... By d way, isnt IBB, Atiku and Gusau supposed to be PDP membas, then and even Now? Oh i forgot, they are NORTHERNERS who vowd that they were going to do everything possible to prevent GEJ from becoming President, and that if he becomes President, were going to make the country ungovernable for him. They collaboratd with oda northerners b4 the electns to fulfil promise 1 (it faild woefully), and are still collaborating with them and odas (esp controllers of d Western media propaganda) to fulfil d 2nd promise (ongoing)..... Lets see where all these wud lead us; didnt smone predict Nigeria wud break by 2015? |
Very Good development for Nigeria's Democracy if seen through....this is what they should be doing; creating REAL Alternatives in terms of platforms and Ideas, instead of noise-making and Propaganda. All the best to them... |
ACM10: My apology if I sound rude. But Jona's son looks like an imbeNo need for apologizing 'dear'; you are fooool-ish. We already knew that and so No surprises... |
Barywhyte: If you read my comment well, I wrote that the report linked him indirectly to Malabu Oil scam just like several oil blocks were allocated to cronies of Nigerian rulers fraudulently. I didn't say that there was "Malabu" in the report. I wrote that Malabu Oil is a fictitious company that actually never existed even though it appear to be household name. Take your time to go through this investigative journalism; then you will know what Malabu is all about.Plz dont play that game with me. You gave the impression that the Malabu thing was mentioned or considered specifically by the Ribadu report when as I have said earlier, there was very little specifics in the report cos it was not a Probe Report in the Ist place. It is you guys that are 'generously' given the report your own connotations and interpretations as you guys so chose. Malabu was not mentioned in the report, period. By the way, you are very wrong by saying that GEJ 'allocated Malabu il field...'cos he did not; the northern Military rulers did, he only restore it under understandably anger by the Niger Deltans to what they considered the 'sharing' of 'their' oil by Northerners, esp after the uproar that spread through the Niger Delta when Gen Danjuma sold his stakes in his field for $500million and said he didnt know what to do with it. It is possible that the initial allocation of the oil field was less than transparent, but to be making noise abut just Malabu without talking about the fields by Northerners who control more than 90% of the oil fields in someone's backyard is annoying and is politics. If Malabu is on the table (and I have n problem with that), so MUST all the oil fields given at same time time and through same process to these powerful Northerners. |
totalbaby: is it me or do the girls look somalian especially the oldest daughterExactly. But she also looks northern Kenyan. Obama himself is part-Luo (ie Nilotic) and these Nilosaharan-Nilotic peeps like some Afrasans (eg Somalis) are Super-tropically adapted ie tall and kind of thin. They are also usually beautiful. Malia carries that 'gene', lol. PS: think of our own Kanuris too. |
take dat: Malabu is owned by Dan Etete and not EtiebetIssokay....i usually mix up those 2 former Pet Mins and Niger Deltans |
I will just make 3 points since i have already talkd about this previously: 1st, plz read tru the comments of previous posters here or articles writing by critics and show me anywhere where they pointd out the infractions that was specifically committd by dis admin as containd in d Ribadu Report Or whether most of these infractions and practices have not been going on for decades? 2nd, d Ribadu committee was not a probe committee but an administrative one whose terms of Reference was to look at the System of payments and practices bw d Nigerian state and d oil companies. The committee found out that d Practices have generally been inefficient, wasteful and corrupt; how d hell is this a surprise? We already knew that that has generally been d case in d Upstream oil sector since d 1970s afta d end of d civil war- in a word 'darkness'. They made recommendatns to change this culture MOST of which are in d PIB bill currently in d NA. Now go tru all d comments and articles of critics and see if there is any mention of this all-embracing critical bill that wud go a long way in solving a problem that hv been with us for decades? For instance, d bill wud break up d hegemoth NNPC into parts, one of which (NOC) which unlike d current NNPC wud be commercialisd and partly listd in d Stock Exchange where it wud hv to give full accounts of its finances and hv corporate governance. One wud hv thought this wud be an opportunity for sm of us to put pressure on d NA to pass d bill afta previously 'insulting' d President into sending d bill to d NA. 3rd, I am yet d undastad how the people asking d President to start prosecuting basd on dis report want him to so. Apart from the fact that d report was not a Probe and so not SPECIFIC (and dis is important cos if prosecutn wud occur an anti-corruptn agency wud hv to do d specifics and build cases that can stand in d courts), the authors of d Report usd their hands to write that Some of d data they usd were not verified/reconciled. So shld d govt NOW arrest all former heads of state (including Obj who also doubld as his own Pet Min, lol), former Pet Mins, heads of NNPC etc, and then take them to court basd on a report whose terms were general and whose authors said that some of dier data were not verified? How many hours wud d 'cases' last in a law court? How can d govt be 'discreting' a report that Ribadu and Soare demselves wrote was incomplete, when the govt is just saying that the report was incomplete and still needs more work? Was it not Ribadu who specific askd d govt to so do? By d way, why wud Ribadu lick an incomplete report so as to give d impression that d govt was doctoring it when it was the same Ribadu that askd govt to verify sm data?..... POLITICS SHOULD NOT BE TOO DIFFICULT TO DICEPHER |
Barywhyte: My brother we all know where this ends. I dnt have to be told it is all nonsense. Jonathan will never implement the report of this committee. He has never implemented the reports of over 30 different committees set up to look into various issues between May 2010 and now. What give you an assurance that he will implement the report that indirectly indicted him in the unilateral allocation of oil blocks to a fictitious Malabu Oil company? Yes that's part of the contents of Ribadu report. Forget about it. Nothing works. A corrupt man don't fight corruption otherwise he will be consumed by the same corruption1st off, Malabu was not mentiond in dis report in d way that u just made it to be. 2nd, Malabu is NOT an unkwown company, it has been incorporatd for more than a decade and is ownd by Etiebet. By d way, Malabu was one of d large offshore fields that past Northern leadas gave out to people they considerd close to dem, all of which was given to fellow powerful Northerners who control more than 90% of these large offshores fields situatd in d Niger Delta but gave only one to a Niger Deltan (Etiebet- who was then Pet Min); curiously they later withdrew d license from Etiebet, and GEJ only restord to it cos of d pressure and anger of Niger Deltans, just as Yar'adua restord Danjuma's field afta Obj withdrew it. Now, all of a sudden sm of these people are questioning why d President restord Malabu but are not talking about the oda licenses that Northerners gave themselves in smone's else backyard, and you dont know that it is all politics? Touch Malabu and then demands wud be made to also cancel all d fields held by northerners and that they gave at the same time as they gave Malabu to a Niger Deltan..... |

honeric01: As usual, they're good at twistinghttp://www.elombah.com/index.php/latest-news/11620-jonathan-is-a-weak-president-azazi?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter I just provided the info; however, I cant bring myself to 'debate' with an Agbero like yrself. At least, @others were silly, but not utterly gross as yrself. Bye... |
Just as I expected. More of such would follow. When the Republicans (led by Economic/social 'purists' like the Tea party folks)campaignd with the slogan 'We are going to Retrieve the country' (retrieving it from Blacks, Latinos, Asians, other minorities and Liberals of course wit a certainty that they 'owned' the country), this is what you expect and get. Just like in Nigeria, when some political parties who did not have real structures in their own regions (NE and NW) talkless of the other 4 regions of the country (only campaigned in just 1 city in a whole geopolitical zone for instance) but told their 'blind' supporters that they MUST win cos they were 75% of the population and that others didnt like their opponents, that is also what you get.....wait, we actually got it, and hundreds of people including innocent graduates died. That is what you get when Political Extremists seek POWER, period. I expect more.... |
honeric01: You are even more worthless than a chicken, why was he fired after he opened up? why did Jonathan remove Azazzi for leaking the "secret" of the killing party called PDP? even the evil OBJ didn't find any fault with GMB, na worthless toilet-roll like you wan rope in GMB?I said it @Elueme that he is not capable of getting the logic of that statement of yours. So let me make it simpler for him, maybe he can get it now: @Dishonoric, Azazi said that some of those PDP memebers from the north who contested with GEJ in the primaries and said they were going to make the country ungovernable for him if he won, may be involved with some other northern elites in supporting the BH; he also said that Buhari was also involved in this northern plot. So if you believe almost as a simpleton that the northern PDP members are BH members (and you are using Azazi as a source), then you must also accept as a simpleton still that Buhari is also part of the sponsors of BH since your source also said so (in any case, Azazi's point was always that some Northerners were trying to get Power from the backdoor and so trying to discredit GEJ govt as they promised. By the way, this is also the position of the United States Government). So your choice: either you believe Azazi as a simpleton and call some northern leaders in PDP as well as Buhari as BH members or sponsors OR you step back and think. You cant have it both ways. Does he even understand nw ![]() |
