lacasa: so what?.PDP=ACN=CPC=ANPP= THE SAME (The Only difference been that just one has ever been in power at the centre)- STOP Deceiving yourself otherwise. Only a few members in these parties are clean and actually know what they ought to do ( though PDP been the 'largest party in Africa' as its members shamelessly say, has more 'typical' Nigerian politicians as members). What would help improve Nigerian political culture is really not some obsession about any one party, but strong competition amongst them such that there would be less complacency within the parties and amongst the public; this process would eventually weed out the undesirable political actors in these parties, bring forward the desirable ones and aid the development of a better political culture. This is the essence of Representative Democracy ( or any Representative System of any kind). PS: What the hell is CPC and ACN doing about the proposed 'alliance'? It is extremely crucial for the Nigerian Political system, regardless of who wins the next national elections. |
bigboy3: Mr know it all, did Americans allow Hurricane sandy to hit first before they prepared and set everything in motion to handle the situation. We have so many irresponsible people in Government and its so disturbing that we don't value lives. This is not rocket science oga....I was addressing something else the guy ignorantly said. This was my earlier comments on the point you are raising now : Guy, the guy is very correct; the Cameroonians did nothing wrong. What they did is the standard way of dealing with such high water levels in dams cos as d Director said, it would have been much more disasterous if d water pressure were allowd to get to d extent of breaking up the dam; bliv me it wud have been much more devastating. |
anishe: See the response of a useless Minister representing a useless government headed by a useless retardeen. No advance information that will facilitate evacuation of the areas to be affected. Failure to plan is planning to fail. Useless set of peopleUseless pekin. What did you think we were talking about before you chargd in. Give that phone to a maturd person around, relay the message you had in mind and then after he must have Processd it, tell him to help you type it on dis thread. Afta that you may then go play with yr mates... Thanks |
amosy007: So why is he telling us? So we will think the police are not useless? Why cant dey dock them b4 grabbing ahuja and bc deir gilberish to d public.. Mtchew useless people in blackDuck them with what? With what amount of evidence? Did you read the article you are criticizing?...isn't a must to comment on a topic? |
Elueme: Big lie!!... Why is the OP being mischievous?Actuali he got the info 4rm one online 24/7 iReport 'newspaper'. You know na the kind of 'newspapers' we have these days with their ubiquitous 'sources', and the easily deceivd ppl who wud believe just about anything from such 'papers' (witout bothering to cross-check) and even paste such info on NL...na so we see am |
modicum: Between Presidents Obasanjo,Read the article again and lets see if you wud still use d word 'stolen' with respect to the said #16trillion...this time read it slowly, Mr Summarizer |
nex: The Nigerian government has failed in several angles. Refusal to dredge the Rivers Niger and Benue which would allow all these waters to flow freely, and secondly the imbecilic manner in which Nigerian Public Officers think, and finally, speak in public. No, you are the IGNORAMUS. If not you wud have known that the Lower River Niger has been dredged and that there isnt much a dredgd 5ft river can do in dealing with water levels 10ft-15ft high ( and that it wud have actuali been worst if the river was not dredgd). You may also have known that the river Benue was just starting to be dredgd b4 d floods, and even then not much wud hv happend...by d way, the President you so foo.lishly insultd is the one doing the dredging NOW while yr other former leadas did nothing in dat respect..... There has got to be a way to 'cagd' Noisemakers on NL *Gosh* |
gboss4sure: Hand me a Sniper and i would teach that man a message. Cameroun did nothing wrong in cause deaths of many people in Nigeria abi. Stupid Sentence.Guy, the guy is very correct; the Cameroonians did nothing wrong. What they did is the standard way of dealing with such high water levels in dams cos as d Director said, it would have been much more disasterous if d water pressure were allowd to get to d extent of breaking up the dam; bliv me it wud have been much more devastating. The Cameroons did what they had to do, it was Nigeria that didnt have a buffer dam on the Benue River( unlike Kainji on Niger side) that was at fault. The ongoing buffer dams under constructn need to finish as quickly as possible even b4 d 2013 brought-forward date cos if d Nkos lake in dat same Cameroon erupt (and they said it wud anything from now), this flooding wud be child's play |
Sometimes I dont undastad why some Nigerians hv the Flock 'follow-follow' mentality- if one person says smthing, everyone oda person would follow without thinking. One person says d FG (Min of Environment and NIMET) did not inform people on the path of d Rivers including their governors, of possible flooding and askd them to evacuate or be evacuatd by the state govts, other ppl just joind that person...smh |
bokohalal: I can see that they did not teach you the meaning of 'the' while growing up.Help yourself and get out some more.Honoris Ignoramus, see you elsewhere.Na wa for the kind of people pesin go dey tolerate for dis forum...kai! Pesin do sufa |
maclatunji: We don't! Why would anybody expect you to read "all of that"? Do they want your brain to collapse as a result?Hahaha.. abeg leave d guy alone. Anyways @topic, i thought d article was well written. The penchant of our leadas and elites flying abroad for their health care( and odas) is completely wrong. At least even if anyone( elite or not) needs to go abroad for health care, it should be for specific severe cases, shouldn't be d norm |
bigx: Ugly girls, as usual they probably had no better optionWhy are you calling God's creatures 'ugly'? Bros, abeg mind yrself |
Drunk: It's a free world. We are who we areNa Lie. Absolute Freedom does exist in nature....lol @' We are who we are' |
daryoor: first of all , barbs is no ugly. Secondly, in the land of the hunch backs the person with the straight back is a monster, cant u guys just tolerate people with a different sexual orientation to yours.Plz dont compare homosexuality( which is mostly a behavioural choice or in fewer cases, an altered behaviour) with Slave trade( which is pure wickedness and greed man to man). Na wetin dem take dey deceive una bi dat |
BBA is the most horrific show to visit any home. This indecent movie in the name of a show leaves its victims with no class, low self-esteem and blatantly immorally devoured. This is not the meaning of entertainment to sane minds.
Thank you joor.. The programme na thrash from start to finish, and these are d kinds of disgraceful results of dat yeye 'show' |
bokohalal: So,you do not get it that the other countries have no maternal and child health issues?Okay, I dont get it: 'other countries have no maternal and child health issues'. By 'issues' do you mean that other countries do not have women or children with health concerns OR by 'issues' do you mean other countries do not have problems in terms of Maternal and Infant mortality and morbidity? By 'other countries' were you talking about the 53 members of the Commonwealth, more than half of which are 'poor' African, Asia and some small Island nations whose Women/Child indices are below par(though now generally improving); and would those 'other countries' also include India, the largest member of the Commonwealth, with consistently the most or at least aomngst the 5 worst nations in the world in terms of Maternal and Infant mortality/morbidity( though like many in the world also improving). By te way, India hosted the Commonwealth Forum where Nigeria's Programme was adjourned the best in the the organisation. Now before considering the kind of answers you intend to give to these questions, I would like to advice you to think real hard over them as I might not be this nice next time in responding to ignorant comments. Cheers! |
This is a very reassuring news cos it shows that an Office in the Presidency as well as an Agency of govt can WORK, and implement a programme that would beat that of Canada and Australia in terms of Innovations in Government Services and Programmes. This suggest that if we developed right attitudes and conditions, many of the other Departments and Agencies of Govt that are currently performing below par can be world beaters. Nigerian and Nigeria would shine if we put our hearts to it and if the right conditions are demanded by everyone of us.... NIGERIA CAN WORK. Kudos to the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on MDG (the architects and drivers of the scheme) and the implementing Agency- the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA). See the link for an introduction to the scheme. The Scheme seeks to help Nigeria tackle the problem of Maternal and Child health as indicated in MDGs 4 and 5, by recruiting unemployed and retired midwives and deploying them to primary health centres in rural areas : http://library.sparc-nigeria.com/Delivery.aspx?AttachmentID=6cc42662-c7c0-11df-958a-00221964e37f |
Midwives under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Office; Midwives’ Service Scheme, have been awarded this year’s Commonwealth award. The prize; Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) award on Innovations in Government Services and Programmes, was presented to Nigeria at CAPAM meeting in New Delhi, India. The scheme funded by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs, Dr. Precious Gbeneol, was jointly implemented by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA). Under the scheme, unemployed and retired midwives were recruited for deployment to primary health centres in rural communities. Nigeria beat Australia and Canada to clinch the award. In a statement in Abuja, the Deputy Director, Information of OSSAP-MDGs, Kene Offie, said the initiative was launched in 2009 to support the country to tackle poor maternal and child healthcare. http://thenationonlineng.net/new/news/commonwealth-award-for-midwives/ |
Imagine say a 'Hurricane Abimbola' is heading for Ekiti State in 3 weeks.. First and foremost; 1. Prophet T.B Joshua will prohesy the hurricane. 2. Ekiti State Governor will hold a press conference advicing the people of the state to remain calm as government is working hard to see how they can tackle the situation. 3. National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) will grant an interview on Channels TV and AIT saying that they are well trained and prepared to handle the crisis. That they are untop of the Situation. 4. The Federal Government will wait for the Hurricane to first land and wipe out Ekiti State then; - Hold a day of National Mourning and Prayers and order the flag be flown at half mast. - Visit the disaster location for a first hand assessment of the damage. - Visit the survivors camp and share relief material (Mosquito nets, rice and Indomie) - Set up a committee to investigate the Hurricane and see how we can prevent future hurricanes from visiting Nigeria. - Release billions of Naira (on Paper) for disaster management. - Sack the Minister of Water Resources for failing to contain the water. - Commend the State Governor, NEMA, Red Cross and other emergency services unit for their quick response. 5. The Senate willl hold an emergency session and condemn the 'Hurricane'. 6. Churches around Nigeria will hold crusades and Programmes with Titles like 'May Hurricane wipe out your enemies'.. 'Calming the Hurricenes in your life'.. 'Finding the Rainbow in your Hurricane'.. e.t.c.. 7. M.I Abaga will release a single about hurricanes. 8. Femi Falana (SAN) will sue the Hurricane, F.G and Ekiti State government for their poor handling of the Hurricane. 9. A thread will be launched on NAIRALAND and be put on the frontpage and will hit over 20 pages in its first 6 hours. 10. CPC, ACN, APGA and others will blame the PDP and Jonathan for the Hurricane. 11. Jokes about BOKO HARAM claims responsibility for the Hurricane will go viral on Facebook, Blackberry Messenger and Twitter.. 12. Many People will change their Blackberry Display Pictures to 'Hurricane Pictures' and their status will read.. #Hurricane Things.. All this and the people wey the hurricane actually affect go just siddon dey suffer..
Bwahahahaha....smbody have finally killed me on NL...hahahahaha.. |
hot n cold: At times I feel ashame to be a Nigerian. When I look around most times,I can't help but feel empty, wishing I could just disappear and never come back to this GOD FORSAKEN country. The flood that over took most states of the country are yet to be properly addressed, the victims groaning and gnashing their teeth in pains and agony! What did those in authority do?They couldn't careless. What hv yr ' God forsaken' live done for Nigeria? Just name one. #spinelessNoisemakers |
take dat: Its disheartening when the President has to approve of a commission or panel of inquiry reports indicting public officials or corrupt citizens before the ICPC, EFCC, Attorney General and the Police acts. Empowered agencies charged with the responsibility of investigating and prosecuting accused persons ought to have autonomy over such matters without the President's consent. The otherwise is always the case in Nigeria where selective judgement and preferential treatment are applied because of some certain vested interests thereby leading to political interferenceI agree mostly with you here. This is one of the reasons why we MUST push for the separation of the Office of d Attorney General and d more political Justice Minister in d ongoing Constitutional reforms |
quiverfull: Dieziani Madueke received the FINAL copy of the report of the committee last month, and for over 3 weeks she did nothing about it. Somebody on the committee sensed the FG was dragging their feet just to cover up the report, and quickly released it to the international media just to force the FG to acknowledge receipt of the report. This is what made the SNG to accuse the FG of a cover-up.You have no idea what you are talking about. Discretionary licensing(what u just called 'dashing' of licenses) is LEGAL as also assertd by d linkd parts of Report and even d Reuters article. The problem was that the signature bonuses of d 3 licenses given by dis admin(out of d 11 in question most of which were given by previous admin) was said to be 'missing'. This is d 'massive' fraud some persons have been shouting about. But I find it difficult to imagine dat d Pet Min wud hv stolen outright the bonuses of licenses(which were Open though Discretionary by the way) and still go ahead to set up a committee( made up of ppl like Ribadu, Soare, Agbakoba etc) to reconcile the payments system bw govt and oil companies, does that make much sense to you? The 'missing' bonuses could hv been stolen BUT it could also may not have been reconcild. In fact, it is remarkable that this admin has only given out just 3 INLAND licenses since it came on board; so when ppl talk about 'massive' corruptn, I wonda if they hv any idea d magnitude of things(licences and more) that hv been going in d oil sector b4 now!..... My personal response to this is wait and let d report be presentd, and then we can ask clear questions: where are the Signature bonuses? If you cannot reconcile d figures and account for it, it means it has been stolen and then ppl will go in for it. SIMPLE. This would be both for the 3 licenses given by dis admin and the even more given by oda admins from 2002 according to d report. In d meantime, though discretionary licensing is legal, it may be about time we started talking about ditching it; I wonda if d Report would make such recommendation Or if it has been reflected in d proposed PIB bill |
thelastPope: Who is retardeen? Your father? I don't understand. I said show me where you appreciated him now or stop lying! Haba! Its too early to lie this morning.hahaha....abeg una no go kill pesin for dis NL? Me too be no know who e dey talk about? |
Great... Good job and great relief |
acidtalk: Abeg go and sidoon.Yea yea yea...soundbites meaningless ones that is what is expectd from u guys going further...my frnd d harvest has already startd; you could check d front page again( anoda one wud even soon be there). It was always really a mata of time |
Solozzo: No, the credit goes to the state governor. The airport is owned by Edo stateWhat are you talking about? Abeg correct yrself by yrself joor |
acidtalk: stop being silly and pathetic.Kai! But some people will commit suicide sha as the goodies start to tringle in at this 1st Harvest period- rehabilitatd Lagos-Kano railways and adjorning ways, Remodelld/reconstructd airports, Inland ports, some roads and bridges, some Dams, power plantr and transmission lines etc...kai! i sori for some ppl sha |
fizeul: Hmmm.. Ok.. That's nice.. If my guess is right, the first thing these private companies will do is to start laying off workers. Increase in unemployment. Just my guess..No, yr guess is wrong. Think about it: if this works out as much as it shld, we wud be talking about tens of thousands of MWs of power to be produced, transmittd and distributd cos of increasd investments by these investments and odas that wud come into d industry( it has now been liberalizd) compard to the above 4000MW current been produced; much more workers would eventually be requird in virtually all relatd fields for this even if there might initially be retirement of current PHCN workers.. Also, just imagine d no of Call Centres that the 12 DIFFERENT Distribution companies wud have to set up in the major cities of their different zones unlike PHCN dat currently have none; imagine d no of workers that wud be so engagd. Again, imagine these and oda huge benefits if it works out d way it ought to( And God knows that it has to, it is damn to important) |
What kind of a story is this? Journalists shld learn to be professional abeg |
Gbawe: How was it totally uncalled for and who are you to decide what is called for and uncalled for? Guy, it is wit - and I don't do senseless reverence for the sake of it. How about the concept of how Nigerians need a man who is sharp, erudite and 'quick on the uptake' representing them? Is it just to accept anyone as President and begin defending everything they do blindly? Can smone plz tell d fellow talking here to SHUT d heck up. Too much talk, little sense; lol @ 'matured' writeup |
Sam Milla: Nigerian govt and their bogus figures again. Since when did we start to use US Dollars in Nigeria?Yea, some ppl must comment. Maybe u didnt read d article enough to realise that each consortium is made up of various local and foreign companies that are requird to make d requird payments tru Credit-rated International banks and their equally rated Nigerian counterparts, and that such international payments are usually denoted in US Dollas.. So u were one of those persons that made the investment decision to buy Transcorp shares some time back; investments been Risks which cud be profitable or a lost for the investor, its unfornate that d 2nd was d case for most people who investd in d private company at that time. Well, since the company now has amongst its portfolio an obviously profitable comp it is expectd that its share price wud subsequently head north; you wud benefit except you decided to sell your shares when it decreasd then, in which case u wud have been doubly FOOLISH..... Like i said b4, it is not a must to mk a comment on every topic |
