chic2pimp: Not really.Obama weak? Dont know how people define 'weakness' these days. Same Obama 'd Drone President' that essentially decimated the ranks of AlQueda in Pakistan, deportd more illegals than oda presidents and reind in those hawks on Wall street? That same Obama, right? No guy leadas like Obama aren't weak, they are just smart; they know exactly what needs doing and do it without much unnecessary grandstanding. The sort of grandstanding that made d Republican Bush lead d US of A into 2 silly wars and trillions of dollars in debt to booth |
Baby mama: If this happens,Romney and his wife that looks like a wooden carving can kiss the presidency goodbyeBwahaha... Nigerians and their mouths. lol at 'wooden carving' |
Nigerian newspapers and their 'stories' these day. I just finishd reading dis same story from Channels which was reportd differently. According to Channels, it was an armd robbery attack which was repulsd by d 2 policemen that accompanied d MD, one of whom receivd sm gunwound injuries. This story seem more plausible for now cos it is difficult to imagine assasins been outsmartd by just 2 policemen..... Anyways, who knows? Me i don tire for any Nigerian 'news', though i wud take Channels over SR any day |
Demdem: [s][/s]This was d very words of d President according to the article @Demdem provided: '..we are having strong links on the people involvd in d violence' that can never be d same as: 'there is a list on the sponsors of the violence lying on my table'- those 2 statements are extremely diff. It didnt even say 'we know the links ', which would still not mean 'we have a list of the sponsor', the exact words was 'we are having strong links' ie we are having openings or leads on the people involvd (having links or openings or leads are technical terms usd in d Intelligence community that d person who wrote the President's speech dat day usd to convey progress been made to find out 'the people involvd' and it does not connote a certain term like a 'list of sponsors'). Similarly, the phrase: '..those people involvd' is not d same as '..sponsors of BH'; the 1st one uses a general term 'people involvd' which could mean the terroists themselves, Or their sympathizers, Or the sponsors, While the 2nd one talks specifically of the sponsors. To even imagine that these two statements (the 1st d actual words of d President in the speech AND d 2nd @demdem's deliberate misinterpretation of the actual quote) are the same is frankly sill.y. @Demdem deliberately distortd d essence of that quote in order to give the impression that the President has a 'list of sponsors of BH on his desk' which he is not doing anything about cos he is BH himself; though he wasn't even as half-smart to realise that those experts who write the President's speech are way over his head. To keep trying to defend his (mis)interpretatn is deceitful and plainly stu.pid at dis point |
Wadeoye: And now, the same Ribadu has gone back to work for the same government that removed him from office.Which govt removd him from office? Read d article again my frnd, and dis time slowly... It was Yar'adua that removd Ribadu and many of d core professionals that he workd with and brought in Waziri and odas. It was GEJ that removd Waziri, brought back Lamoude (the current chairman of EFCC and was 2nd in command to Ribadu) and some of those core professionals back to EFCC. This move have since brought back d support of international bodies and countries who openly removd support during Waziri's time |
The govt shld not only set up these security ballons in Abuja but also in the main BH territories Borno and Yobe, as well as the Niger Delta. The Spy satellite shld also go up immediately to track those silly BH idiotic illiterates |
ocman: United States of America's presidents would always saay, "American can never negotiate with any terrorist on the surface of the earth, instead we code-name an operation of demolition and dedicate its course to your destruction" God bless AmericaHahaha.... Guy, e bi like say u dey watch too mush films o. If you know how many terroists and group America has negotiatd with since they startd mouthing this refrain, you will know dat things are much complex than they seem. America is presently negotiating with d Taliban that hv probably killd more US soldiers since d Korean war; Britain and Spain have had to negotiate with their own terroist groups operating inside their country who for many years killd thousands. The world is COMPLEX my frnd, its damn too complex.....PS: i personally am completely against negotiating with BH talkless of 'compensating' them even for 24 membas killd extra-judiciary during Yar'adua era, BUT i hv grown to realise that my personal feelings is quite diff from Real Politik. The people who wud take this difficult decision wud not do so cos of what my personal feelings are Or the opinions of NLanders; they wud make d decision that they judge to be strategically for the ultimate good of the Nigerian people and state. One of the things we hv to do is to pray that whateva decision they take will be the RIGHT decision for Nigeria |
solomonkane: Buffoon, answer the questions he asked; if not, shut up and continue being foolish in the silence of your IQ deficient head.Guy i do not hv the time for ignorant loud-mouthd chaps dis morning, lucky you.... But just out of curiousity, what answers did you expect me to give to his 'questns'? If i thought there was any questns that i should in dat comment, wud i advice him to ask questns b4 making assertions? The chap was confusing interest rates from d Bond market (and yes there is a potential real problem here) with Concessionary long-term loans.... |
vascey: In IFRS, there is something we refer to as effective interest rate.hmmm....what are you talking about? How much more 'sub-charges' can be added to 0.7% to take it to more than 1-2%? And am at a complete loss at what you were attempting to pass across in respect to the Foreign reserves?..... If you are looking for a potential real problem, look towards Local and not so much Foreign debts |
ochukoccna: We are burrowing to pay back with high interest rates, yet we are creating a sovereign wealth fund to save moneyIf you do not know d difference bw borrowings from bond markets (which is for local debts) AND borrowings from institutional lenders (external debts) in terms of interest rates and maturity, why dont you ask questns Or Shut up. |
Let the Senate and the National Assembly commence 2nd Reading for the extremely important PIB bill that has been with them for over 3months. The bill need urgent passage before the end of this year. @topic, dont know much about this new Custom's bill so cant honestly comment on it. Any link to a copy of the bill? |
@topic, and it will be short. I get the impression from the report that there are 2 main issues BH are contending with here: the release of some of their members that they consider 'innocent', esp their children and women (so the Security agencies have their women and children in prisons?) AND the payment of 'compensation' (diyya) to 24 of their members killed by Yar'adua's crackdown in 2009, #2million each and totaling #48million. The 1st 'demand' is reasonable and should be easily met (esp from the report they seem not to have been demanding for the release of those who have been involved in the actual terrorist acts). The 2nd 'demand' is what would be naturally nauseating to many Nigerians (myself included); however, even if the FG openly rejects this some persons or even the state govts of Borno and Yobe would easily release the #48million for them. Bottom-line, these 2 conditions would likely be met. I write this under the pretense that both the report and the so-called 'source' are reliable. |

berem: didn't you read it in THE PUNCH today? So you at this point believe everything you read from Punch or any Nigerian paper (print, electronic or online)? Anyways, what the guy was probably referring to was the 'source' that Punch relied on in writing this report. @topic, and it will be short. Demdem: Actually, thats what i have decided to do. he is doing a pretty bad job in trying to enter the head of the Retardeen and explain what he meant when he stated to the whole world that evil boko sponsors are known. telling the whole world that when the retardeen said he had strong links to those behind these heinous crime, he is not really saying he knows them. he even went further to talk about trivialities about him not saying that its on his desk. i asked if those links he had earlier were now in the presidential toilet, he went dumb. A wise man should know that that is just figurative. His interpretation is just so screwed and i leave him to his ignorance. This was d very words of d President according to the article @Demdem provided: '..we are having strong links on the people involvd in d violence' that can never be d same as: 'there is a list on the sponsors of the violence lying on my table'- those 2 statements are extremely diff.
Where is Sagamite as we speak? Outside Nigeria. Be like Sagamumu, 1m of such would be worthless to Nigeria.
Very funny... |
Great... meaning that the 15 days within which the preferred bidders are supposed to pay the 1st 15% of their bid money has started (Oct 29). The Govt should hasten up the resolution of labour issues and have over the companies to the winners before the completion f the 6months period- actually before the end of the year, esp for the Distribution companies. |
paris10: So they deserved to die according to you? What a moronic statement. What would a murderer deserve THEN? And you say you need prayers in Nigeria. No you don't need prayers, you need brimstone, hail and hurricane sandy to wipe out this corrupt, blasphemious, hypocritical god-forsaken nation you call Nigeria.I concur... I would not need to spend time writing up my own comment cos you have done a good job at it.... Jungle Justice which has been happening in this country since before I was born is CONDEMNABLE, Completely. |
nex: Steve Oronsaye: 'The President has said "Come to submit a report today", so what?!'Eediot, hv you ever heard of the phrase: 'Global best practices'? That is what 'others in d world are doing'..... Okpeei! Kids with the opportunity of having a browsing phone commenting on issues way over their heads |
take dat: The PIB is an executive bill, eventhough the NA seem to be stalling, shouldn't the executive lobby for its passage? If it was budget appropriation nobody will remind the executive to lobby for an accelerated hearing and quick passage.Okay. So you are willy to organise, hold meetings, make lots of noise and quite frankly 'blackmail' the executive (for some persons d 'price' was always d President's head and not just d executive per say) to send an extremely important bill, part of which wud provide sm light to a sector that has always bn DARK, inefficient and corrupt, to d NA ; BUT afta that same executive (sorry d President) plays its part and sent d bill to d National Assembly, you are willy to be SILENT over smthing which u hv bn arguing is extremely important to you, and then afta 'waiting' for a long time as it continues its sojourn in d NA, turn around to continue accusing the executive (president) of not 'lobbing' d National Assembly enough to do their jobs (which ordinarily is law making)? So what happend to all d 'activism' just b4 the bill was sent to d NA, or only d President is meant to be put under scrutiny, right? How about continuing d pressure until d bill is passd? What were our original goal: to criticize d President Or to clean up a sector by getting a bill passd? Do you know the many powerful interests (including international ones) stalkd against dat bill?..... What was it I was saying about 'us' Nigerians bn content in pointing fingers and making noise while we chicken out when the solution is at stake, just there within our grasp? |
Do they not have the right to appeal? |
take dat: The PIB alone won't solve this mess. The most important thing is for the President to muster enough political will to deal with crises. Just as Ribadu told him that the ball is now in his courtJust out of interest, want do you want the President to do? Plz list them.... Do you know that most of d recommendatns of dis committee are in the PIB bill that has been sitting tight in d national assembly for more 3 months? Were we not all (including myself i must confess) making a lot of noise and almost swearing down on d President's head to send dis bill to the national assembly? While the sudden SILENCE from us now dat the bill has bn sent to d national assembly and they hv only 'introducd' (1st reading) even when they promisd 'acceleratd' hearing? Why do we as Nigerians seem content at making a lot of noise and pointing our fingers at odas while we chicken out when d real solutions are to be made?... Just wondering?? |
iwanchop: Check dis out Orosanye nd Oti were both appointed Chairman NNPC nd Director of Finance after d Ribadu committe was constituted, were they nt suppose to resign as members of d committee? They were both fighting for their pockets...i leant Orosanye did not attend d commitee s meetings,so what was he talking about?I hv correctd this b4. The committee only lookd at d Oil sector from 2002-2011; the 2 people you listd were appointd about 2 months (at least am sure of Oronsaye), whateva went on b4 d end of 2011 does not concern them. Plz get yr 'facts' right, sm ppl who just wish to learn about what is going on may be reading yr comment |
mrrock: @taharqa.oh well, that is debatable but also plausible. I thought you meant that one of the terms of the committee was to investigate Subsidy?... If that is not what you meant, then we hv consensus Bros |
binger: Wateva they do,they shud pls keeping producing good musicAbi o....love both of dem anyways, so as long as they keep the game up: No probs |
binger: Wateva they do,they shud pls keeping producing good musicAbi o |
mrrock: Anybody who will read this thread and not know there's some sort of GAME at play don't know Nigeria. Many people in the presidency and NNPC have their hands tied in the subsidy scam. Therefore, the best they can do is plant an Orosanya to discredit the report. Jonathan's administration is begining to appear to me as really very corrupt.Mr @rock, maybe you shld pay sm attention to what is bn discussd in a thread b4 jumping in. Wetin concern 'Subsidy' with the committee? |
kulutempa: Steve Oransanye is a bloody disgrace and has no iota of integrity. He is serving on a committee which is looking into the activities of NNPC where he is a member of the board and he thinks there is nothing wrong with this? He is simply a worthless human being. My God! Guy take it easy, he was just appointd into the board of d NNPC in say about 2months, while the committee terms coverd 2002-2011- it does not directly affect him at all..... By d way, many of u still have the impression that this was a Probe of d Oil industry, well it actuali was not. Its main purpose was to look at the Payment system and Flow dynamics bw d Nigeria state (lead by NNPC) and d Oil companies, and the findings was that we have been using for decades a BAD BAD system that leaves Nigeria shortagd; it was within dis opaque system that all kinds of corruptn took and takes place. Far-reaching Systems reforms hv be recommended and that is what is important. The report didnt actuali indict anyone expect for the Signature bonuses of those 7 discretory licenses which has not been reconcild (which was said to be 'missing'- dont know what d Final report concluded on this issue though). If the President wants to track down those people who took advantage of d system to line their pockets (and there certainly were many), he wud have to involvd EFCC and track them from 2011 down to d 1970s perhaps (or he could decide to focus on 2002-2011). If he wants to do that, Good luck to him..... Mine is the National Assembly shld pass d PIB bill b4 d end of d year, it is the best and surest way of completely reforming dat DARK sector |
Wadeoye: Again, it is easier to wake up a man who is asleep than a man who is pretending to be asleep. So, Demdem, dont waste your time on this slowpoke - he knows what is doing and of course the truth. The president said he has strong evidence on the IDENTITY of the people behind the attacks - it should follow then that the government now knows the people behind the attacks. Does it make any sense for the president of a country to announce to the whole world he now knows the identity of the people bombing the country without actually pinning the identity down to individuals and groups? You are a DUNCE. You may hv interpretd my earlier attempt to be civil with you as an attempt of bn too 'conciliatory'. This was d very words of d President according to the article @Demdem provided: '..we are having strong links on the people involvd in d violence' that can never be d same as: 'there is a list on the sponsors of the violence lying on my table'- those 2 statements are extremely diff. To keep trying to defend his (mis)interpretatn is deceitful and plainly stu.pid at dis point |
Obiagu1: Why did he accept Nnaji's resignation? No amount of "patch patch" will ever mend that gross administrative failure by the Presidency. This is the problem of the current poisoned environment of Nigeria. If the President had not asked Nnaji out, peple (including peeps on this forum- though the opinion here would not have matter compared to some others) would have tore the Privatization program to stretch by the mouths and the mindless comments of many Nigerians- 'oh the minister is selling the PHCN to himself', 'they are just selling PHCN to themselves' etc. These complains who not have mattered ordinarily (after all, Nigerians make a lot of noise) BUT for a process requiring the good faith of International financial institutions (and local ones) as well as institutions, such complains, particularly if taken over by some set of people (like Labour unions and National Assembly), might have derailed the process. Guess that was unacceptable. The resignation of Nnaji was bad for the Nigerian power sector but might have been necessary for the privatization process. And I wish that the private bid winners would just tke over tomorrow, at least we wouldn't be needing ny body to remind the lazy PHCN CEOs and staff of targets. |
ochukoccna: Dem dey dey come againThere is a provision for subsidy next year...just needed to correct that *leaves thread* |
