Isn't the reason why we have all clamored for a dialogue is "to reassess, refocus, redefine and redesign our political landscape in a direction that would strengthen the bonds of unity, enhance the processes of democratic consolidation, good governance and good neighborliness; and open boundless opportunities for all Nigerians to be, and to feel that they are part of the evolving political process and socio political advancement"? So why should those whose "ultimate goal/predetermined aim" is the dismembering of Nigeria into ethnic conclaves be invited?
There is the UN's universal recognition of inalienable right to self-determination which our masters of irredentism and secessionists can exploit outside of the conference.


Like it was done in Ethiopia, a clause that would allow for "opting out of the union" if certain aspirations are not met can be inserted in the final resolution of the conference.

Of course, we cannot bye pass the NASS, the lawmakers must be carried along. What is needed from them is to create an enabling law to set up a national conference and an enabling Act that permits for a referendum. We cannot guarantee that if the recommendations were to be sent to the NASS for incorporation into the constitution, that it won't be mutilated or tampered with. If what the President muted, and being echoed by our lawmakers is anything to go by, it will be another jamboree because a leopard cant change its spot.

APC cannot stop the Yoruba nation from being part of a 'genuine national conference with its full constituent powers', neither does Afenifere nor any other socio-cultural organization speak for the Yoruba nation. Afenifere, an extinct group was once an identity for the Yorubas, but it died long before the death of Bola Ige and its carcass was interred with Abraham Adesanya.

Why should gerontocrats in their 70's and 80's be the ones to chart a new course for the Yoruba nation? These are men who in their late 20's and early 30's already made a name for themselves because of the good vision of Awo, yet they have refused to make any meaningful impact on the lives of an ordinary Yorubaman other than mouthing platitudes about Awoism. Why should they be the ones to propose our bail out measures when their own credential is questionable? The same 'old order' who mortgaged the future of the Yoruba nation by their unholy alliance with OBJ. Whose fault is it, that those accused of monumental graft are being let off the hook, and those who still have their case files with the EFCC and others before different court of law are running wild and riding high, as free as the wind?
