thelastPope: Which Nigerians now know? You lot always use that phrase like you have conducted some kind of census or poll. You said so in 2011 and came very short. The Nigerians I see around me and everywhere I go are laughing and having fun over it. It is a pathetic display of incompetence. Deal with it!
I don hear you. Meanwhile, when is GEJ going to pardon Bode George and Tafa Balogun?

thelastPope: You guys are so sulking. I am disappointed. Is this how you wanna displace PDP? Nigerians are just laughing all over social media. This has got to be the greatest political PR failure in history. Shame!

Has INEC broken any law? Has the real APC broken any law? Sulking and whining won't get you anywhere!
Mtshew! Who are those laughing all over the social media? Reno Omokri's followers on twitter and government brown-nosers I guess! I do not care if INEC goes ahead to register the phantom APC, my joy is that Nigerians now know that those behind the imaginary party are political jobbers and jesters! Deal with it bro!

Maxymilliano: I don't see any contrivance here bruh, I also happened upon the bromide of the letter of intent by the supposed APC, shared on cyber space.

People at INEC are no fools, there are seasoned technocrats working with the body, I don't know Jega apart from his published profile, but Kayode Idowu, the chief press secretary was a columnist I got to know at Punch, before he was persuaded to join the editiorial board of The Nation Newspaper.

Cut this guys some slack, your angst against INEC is what I'm contending with, most of this info might be fabricated for all I care till INEC present the true picture of things but I just dey surprised you no talk of yellow journalism here, just because it aligned with your conviction.
Bro, I believe you. I want to assume its all media misrepresentation!

Maxymilliano: I understood your grouse ab initio bruh, but INEC is not compelled by law to release informations on the movers of the new party. There will surely be an article of association or memorandum of association submitted as part of the requisite documents submitted to INEC that captures the info you seek.

The display picture here is just like unveiling a brand, you can't expect those infos to be included, but face(s) behind the masquerade will sure be made known in due course...
Ok! I have nothing against those behind the party provided they have genuine intentions, and not those who are only interested in heating up the polity for some loose change. I am not swayed by the advances of actors in APC, but I want competition. Looking forward to know the face(s) behind the masquerade!

Registration documents are submitted to INEC. You can go to INEC and find out.

Meanwhile, the fake APC are still roaming the streets of Borno? When will they be back? lol

Just a quick one. How many party NECs do you you know in Nigeria? #justasking
Duh! Was expecting better than this from you guys. Now I know that clowns are not to be taken seriously.

tarryT: Emotions cant change facts... Since the merger Association of Political Criminals have rejects calls by INEC to adjucts their acronym, they can go to Burkina Faso n register their party.... Who cares?
What are the facts? That a lawyer who is currently under investigation by NBA submitted a letter of intent, to which INEC is yet to acknowledge? Or that the faceless APC have satisfied all the requirement in the electoral act, which would make them lay claim to the acronym? The only fact is, As at today, none of the two parties can legally claim the acronym, not until one of them satisfy "ALL" the requirements in the electoral act before the other! Your hate for the merger is distasteful, it beclouds your judgement!

We are selling more oil, thanks to Yaradua's amnesty programme continued by GEJ. We can do better than this if we are able to curb crude oil theft, stop the cut-price gas deals with oil majors, briefcase companies -sweetheart deals to lift crude oil etc! Plug the leakages in the system and we will do nothing less than $60billion!

Hope part of this $48billion won't be carted away by the lightfingered leaders!
Politics › Re: Proxy APC: ACN, ANPP,CPC Take Battle To Jegatoday by takedat(m):
KokoBeware: The original APC will get the name... however they have just shown themselves as unserious.. how can they forget or overlook something as critical as sending a letter of intent to INEC before singing APC all over Nigeria..
Whoever is behind the second APC has achieved his purpose.... If the cannot register a name how will they be commited to "due process"....
What due process are you talking about? Have you studied the section in the electoral act concerning mergers and alliances, or you think you just submit a letter of intent to INEC, without fulfilling the necessary requirement? Any merger would first have to come out with a logo, party name, party constitution, manifesto, submit a letter of notification from each parties involved in the merger after having done their conventions, and then the general convention before INEC can register the new party. You'll agree with me that these processes takes time, even if the known APC submit its letter of intent to INEC before satisfying these requirements it still does not give them the right/claim to the name/acronym picked. What they are doing now is the "due process" involved in party registration, now they have a name, a logo, manifesto. The next will be their respective conventions, then a general convention.

There is nothing wrong if we don't like the political actors involved in the merger, but we shouldn't encourage those willing to truncate our democracy by cutting corners like the "impostor" lawyer acting as the attorney to the faceless APC, who submitted a letter of intent that has a fake address!

INEC gradually retracing its footsteps. Conducting a due diligence to verify the claims of the phantom APC ought to have come first before going to the media to heat up the polity!

ogb5: The merger partners have been singing with APC as their name for some time, why did they not send at least a letter of intent to INEC with the name APC. If they have done that, INEC will not now be saying that a group came ahead of them.

They should learn and be deligent in thier ways, period.
If they change their name to BPC for example and they don't reserve it in terms of available laws, then just for the kicks someone else might also send another letter of intent to INEC to claim the new name.
Someone who wants to be my leader should at least be deligent enough not to be at the recieving end of chidish gimmicks
They cannot reserve the name/acronym until certain conditions are satisfied. Its not like a CAC arrangement where you can register a business/ company name with no proof. Submitting a letter of intent guarantees nothing in the electoral act. What we are seeing now is just media facade, the name/acronym is still open to the party who fulfills all the requirement first!

Politics › Re: APC Rejects INEC's Call For Name Change by takedat(m):
ogb5: If there are loopholes in the electoral act that miscreants are exploiting, should we now come up with accusing fingers against PDP?

The law has to be followed, however flawed the law is. APC can change their name to BPC if they like and if there go singing the new name all over the place without doing what is legally required to reserve the name for themselves then they got got it coming.

Another miscreant will approach INEC to register the new name then the cycle of accusation will start all over.
Any party that wants to rule a vast country like Nigeria should be deligent enough to reserve the name it has chosen for itself, in fact they are supposed to check for the availability of the name before spreading it around as their name.

We dont want to replace one disorganised party with another disorganised party.
The phantom APC is not exploiting any loophole in the electoral act, rather it is crass negligence and astonished incompetence on the part of INEC to have received a letter of intent which INEC knows one way or the other would generate heat without verification and due diligence. From what was reported, the address on the letter submitted to INEC is non-existing, the lawyer to the phantom APC may be an imposter and the party itself is faceless!

There is nothing sacrosanct about the acronym APC, I am only concerned by the nonfeasance in our system. The phantom APC just approached INEC last week, so you cannot condemn the merger for not taking due diligence. APC was available as at the time the merger came up with it.

Note: The other APC only submitted their letter of intent, and INEC is yet to reply with a letter of acknowledgement. So, none of the APC can actually lay claim to the acronym for now. The phantom APC is yet to satisfy any requirement in the electoral act that might place it in a good stead than the merger.
Politics › Re: APC Rejects INEC's Call For Name Change by takedat(m): 6:46am On Mar 14, 2013
amdman: Lets reason this out properly.

The parties merging came up with APC and were using it to sing in the media without approaching INEC to register the name. Then some funny guy for whatever reason, makes a valid application to INEC to register a political party with the acronym APC. What should INEC do? Refuse the application because they have heard that another party with same acronym is being formed or treat the application that is first in time? In law, delay defeats equity and equity does not aid the indolent, but the vigilant!

Liken this to a business that decides not to register its name with CAC. Anyone can go ahead and register that name.
Did you know that the "funny guy" who approached INEC with a letter of intent to register the phantom APC may likely be an imposter and he is currently being investigated by the NBA?
www.leadership.ng/nga/articles/49902/2013/03/13/apc_registration_new_facts_cast_doubts_over_lawyers_identity.html

Should we encourage miscreants to exploit our system in the name of being smart or sharp? The processes under the electoral act for registering a merger is quite tedious unlike that of a new party, there is no way INEC would have registered the merger without them fulfilling all the requirement. For the merger to have come out with a name prior to its registration is simply to show their commitment to Nigerians. Most of us never gave them a chance before they came up with the name, it was after they came up with APC that we began to take them seriously!
