Jonathan's choice of Anenih only shows a president who is essentially driven by parochial and selfish considerations, mostly as part of his Machiavellian tactics towards self succession. He prefers a crime boss and thief-for-life to a man like Ekwueme with flawless vision and immaculate character! Now PDP's leadership is made up of father to a subsidy thief as chairman and a seasoned thief as the Board Of Thieves(BOT) chairman. This should leave no modicum of doubt that GEJ is nowhere close to tackling corruption, rather he is more interested in entrenching impunity, sustaining the legacy of waste and recycling tired brains and old wasted pilferers! |
they dont look poverty stricken though.
Only those who are miserably poor and lacking in conscience wld embark on a protest to satisfy their captors for crumbs! They are the dregs of humanity! |
Cybersphere is a leveller, the only place where a do-nothing bum and fantasist seeks relevance! |
@Op, what are you, half a meatball? Where is it written that there is no oil? Are you dyslexic? This hate syndrome will lead you nowhere! |
@Sincere9gerian, what exactly are you on about? Is it that you want the Fashola thread to grace the home page or what? Why don't you go to the complaints thread to vent your anger and complaints, quit being a drama queen! |
Sir Whines Alot! |
Melodramatic piece, smear campaign and quack journalism. Political humour and a political comedian! Kindly move this to the jokes section! |
This Rent-A-Crowd of thousands to advance political agenda and the NGO's turned professional crowd renters, with the poverty stricken crowd whose values and principles have been compromised, all with no choice but to embrace their conquerors(rogue leaders) for peanuts depicts the dysfunctional state we are in. To Dame Jonathan: I wonder if some people truly deserve a second chance at life?! The FCT minister is just a lightfingered charlatan! |
...... Waiting to see who will emerge victorious in PDP's in-fighting! A political masterstroke from GEJ at least for now! |

duality: so edo state has reached El dorado since Adams became governor? so Every one in Edo state now have the best of living standard since Oshomole came on board? Good roads every where, Industries, Good education, Pipe born water everywhere in the state? no one is poor in the state? Is it the prerogative of Maku to determine the progress made in the process of governance in Edo state? Does it represent the yearnings and needs of the people of Edo? If the people aren't complaining and they have utmost confidence in their governor, then any tour to the state to access his performance remained meaningless! |

This chatterbox should quit whining. Why should a serious government dwell on what has been discovered to be a report made in bad faith? The truth of the matter is that most are yet to experience the improvement in power supply, rather than concentrate on getting things done, the gasified windbag is blowing hot air! No amount of criticism or aspersions cast on Amanpour from a perceived incompetent government will reduce her ratings or destroy her stellar reputation. The government should stop this unnecessary comical absurdity and get the work done! |
bilms: @take dat, i can't take that. Every citizen is the same,be you president or not. Both candidate made the promise and it hold. You also forgot Buhari is an ex president too.You asked why the display of double standard in judging between the two and I gave the reason why there seem to be more pressure on GEJ than Buhari. Actually, I should accuse of double standard because you seem to only take cognisance of those calling on the president to honour the agreement whereas we have more people calling Buhari an hypocrite for "allegedly" reneging on an earlier promise! A sitting president is the leader of the nation and ought to show the best example was my point! |
taharqa: WONDAFUL!!! So you wud hold a person to an allegd 'promise' that someone said he made, ie one you are not sure of- unda the guise that he is President; whereas, you wud completely absolve anoda person of the possibility of reneging on a Promise/vow he made by himself on live TV- unda the guise that he is a Private citizen, even though a Private citizen who want to be President.. I hardly comment on Real politics on NL, but dis is just Wondaful indeed..This thread is premised on why there seem to be a double standard and I explained that its because one expect the president to show more consistency, decisiveness, forthrightness and honesty than any other, it doesn't mean Buhari shouldn't honour his promise as his integrity is also at stake but the president carries a greater burden of fulfilling a promise made than he(Buhari) does ! I'll refrain from going into whether Jonathan made a gentlemanly pact of not running for a second term or not, because you and I know the truth! I do respect the president's right to re-election as I did state on another thread where I got lashed for it! www.nairaland.com/1202383/jonathan-agreed-one-term-president-obasanjo#14412288 I just do not appreciate a devious president! |
You cannot compare a sitting president who is expected to display a high level of moral integrity to an ordinary citizen whose failings can easily be ignored. The position of a president entails him to display a certain amount of fairness and consistency, it means that he does not change his views and perception due to capricious reasons. How do we appraise a sitting president who cannot be taking at his word? Buhari is an ordinary citizen, him changing his mind can be overlooked, but for a sitting president to be fickle and also displaying chameleon-like trait in his personality is a No-No! |
Demdem: The retardeen has not declared that he will be running. Ur basis seems to be wrong or has he personally told u?Dame publicly declared his aspiration during her meeting with the women wing of PDP. We can assume it was finalised in the bedroom and the wife took it upon herself to declare the husband's intention! |
I do not think the removal of immunity clause is the panacea to the misconduct of political office holders(governors and president). Exposing a duly elected governor or president to civil and criminal prosecution while in office will generate a lot of distractions and would impermissibly interfere in the discharge of their duties. Mischief makers and political antagonists wld most likely abuse it through false accusations and it will create fear in the minds of political office holders that a particular decision or an action in the discharge of their duty may give rise to criminal personal liability even when the decision is in the interest of the people. We cannot afford to have leaders whose energies are diverted by concern with lawsuits while neglecting the effective functioning of government! We already have the impeachment clause, impeachment should precede prosecution. To wound them by a criminal proceeding while in office is to hamstring the operation of the whole governmental apparatus. All we need to do is for office holders to respect the principle of separation of powers, and call for more transparency, probity and accountability in government. An open society to cut it short! |

Sincere 9gerian: Though we dont usually agree on issues on this forum, I admit you'r one of the very few persons that post intelligent comments on this forum. Therefore, I'm somewhat surprised you posted the comments above. The model that was approved is a DFBOT model, I prolly did not read the counterpart funding from government part before posting. From what I read through another source, Government's contribution is N30billion from the SURE-P fund. How much is the total cost of the project cos N30billion is a heavy investment in a project that will cost say a 100billion. If government can inject such an amount into a concessional project, then such as arrangement is suspect! m.allafrica.com/stories/201302230155.html/ |
debosky: Exactly what I'd say - announcing 'preferred bidder' not even formal award yet? We need to understand what the estimated cost is, especially considering that the government is supposed to have budgeted 12 billion naira already for this. Was also thinking in the same direction. The 12billion is from the SURE account, meaning there is a proper budgetary allocation to the ministry for this project which the SURE account is to augment! What is the use of these monies when the concessional project is on a DFBOT model? Opaque dealings in there! |
peleson: Well I never thought so, what makes a republic if not change of constitutional government to another hence IBB time was never constitutional he ruled not lead by decree not law or constitution so how was it a republic ? Please I want to know with all sincerity !IBB was the first military "president" because he presided over the botched third republic! We had democratically elected governors, law makers and local gov chairmen. There was a constitution(1989) though not used. Though questionable but the period generally accepted and recognised as the 3rd republic! |
peleson: 4th n 5th rather. I v learnt isn't it? Yes it is. Thank u!I didn't mean to be rude! 1999- till date is the 4th republic. The 3rd was during IBB's! |
Brilliant effort @Op. Having a carefully written manifesto that addresses our fundamental problems isn't as important as its implementation! I remain hopeful though! |
Let Maku and his lackeys keep drowning in their own manufactured hogwash, while trying to justify their self accessed effectiveness! Oshiomhole's performance and good governance earned him his second term, Maku can continue to cheer the ballot robbers! GGT is a scam! |
Ahmedie25: Sentiment has blinded u to the extent that u can't think again,is Tom Ikemi or Rochas muslim,u are so daftPay no mind to the holier than thou religious prick! Even Mimiko still bears his muslim name and his mum and brothers are muslims! |
