evergie:You mean this is what you use all the money we sent home to you for? So you have started hawking dettol and deodorant at the international airport? this has become very serious! |
Fellow NIDs. I am back home and have been briefed of the updates to the battle and the latest positions of the missiles currently aimed at the NINs. I am well aware that our counter attack missiles were active and congratulate the NIDs who have kept in command. |
Roscodaddy:So that is the plan by NINs? Una weapon don jam be that. **Issues Rosco a knock to wake him up from his dream** It will in no way reduce our purchasing power. $1 will still be able to buy us what |
evergie:The NIDs sh*t packers are coming back home to take over your job. Very soon, you will be looking for a new job. ![]() |
evergie:Yeah I remember that song! brought back memories of those days. Anyway, I will not join you in criticising Willy Willy. He is our Loyal NIDs soldier who is about to receive double promotion and honours for being able to stand up to the Lead General of the NIN army (General Paw-Paw) ![]() |
dachamp:He is in denial ![]() |
RichyBlacK:You forgot that unless all the screws in the mental patients head are off, nobody will do anything about the situation. Is that not how things work? |
** Knocks Rosco's head ** He also forgets that it is early evening in the U.S. Anyway, I can't blame him. He has just come from an 18 hour shift in the enclosed factories of the Chinkos in Lagos, so you can pardon him for his blunder. |
PTH:Dem do fade |
Paw-Paw:Making money from the HYIPs and stock market? We all know about it and many NIDs even have money in them and still make their usual money over here too! |
Paw-Paw:Many people make $50 an hour in Nigeria? Guy, we know what is happening in Nigeria! |
PTH:You forgot to add that the Police could have taken them in because of Yahoo yahoo! |
The problem with guys like Paw-Paw et al be say they are not aware that Soak-away pits are not used over here and that all Sh*t go straight to the sewers. And dem claim say dem don travel out of naija! ![]() |
Paw-Paw:Since when did Aki and Paw-Paw become "Most people in the world"? |
Roscodaddy:In addition to putting a halt to all Western union and Money gram transfers, we the NIDs are also enlisting the services of MI5, CIA and KGB to capture all NINs that are engaged in this internet war with the use of PCs ![]() |
McKren:ROFLMAO . I am completely speechless and don't even know what to say. So we have even fastforwarded and overtaken the westerners on Green issues. Why not start talking about carbon footprint in Nigeria! |
debosky:I think this post more than sums it up. |
If you will be appealing, it is best you get a letter from your bank stating the reason why there is an issue with the COT and VAT as that is where the real issue is. |
And also, since it is Working Holiday Visa, remember to tell them that you have visited the UK before but have not had sufficient time to explore the various parts of the country, so you will like to spend some time visiting many cities/places and learning about the history/culture of the people in the UK, in addition to being able to do some work. |
I do not know much about the WH visa, but my colleague back home in Nigeria got one a few years ago, so it is possible to get. If you are currently working, it would do you good to take a leave of absence (LOA) and show the LOA document to the embassy as part of your documentation when applying. That way, they will be expect that you have a job when you return to Nigeria, as they expect you to go to the UK and return back to Nigeria. Make sure you have some good money in your account, as they expect you to be able to take care of yourself for at least a few months without depending on goverrnment funds (in case you do not get a job immediately) Also, I would advise that you put your well written CV in your application to show that you have qualifications/experience to get yourself a job in the UK. You do not need to ask them to cancel your other visa before applying for this visa. It is possible to have 2 valid UK visas at the same time in your passport. When you arrive here, all they will ask you is what is the purpose of your trip this time (since you have 2 different visas). Goodluck with your application. Read this link again comprehensively before applying (I know you have read it before): http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&=1018721068240 And see the following link where people discuss WHV: http://www.workgateways.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=92bbb15e34fe8c7a41cb83dc45e34df8 |
Paw-Paw:Same way you see stateless people in other country airports, who destroy their passports/return ticket or flush it down the plane toilet so that they can claim stateless on arrival and seek asylum. Note that a lot of Nigerians do it on arrival at foreign countries. These stateless people do not belong to those countries either. |
P peet-ah:Students do it a lot, but I am not really sure it poses a problem for now. There was an article in a newspaper here regarding students not showing up after been given visas. The assumption was that they were up to something negative, but someone said in the same paper that most of the students eventually do go to other schools. The Universities are obliged to forward the list of names of students that got visas and did not resume to the UK authorities, but while a few schools do this, most do not as they say they are not the immigration body. In this days of security and terrorism concerns, It will soon become a full blown issue. The Government is becoming worried about the trend by the students. |
Wallowing in ignorance indeed! To some on this thread, Chxta's article addresses Nigeria's problem and so it is a well written article? For want of criticising his article which I presume he carefully put together, I think his article is far from been alright or excellent. He tables Nigeria's problems in summary as: 1. Ignorance 2. We are not DIYs (Do It Yourselfs) 3. Pessimists 4. Nigeria Break-up advocates and he concludes by giving us his best solution - Change our attitudes! PTH has mentioned how ignorant Americans can be, but their country is prosperous. Now let me put the ignorance in perspective with a personal experience. I entered the US on a KLM flight into Dulles Airport Washington DC after stopping for a few days in London from Lagos and I was harrased by the Immigration officer. When i asked him what the problem was, he asked me why there were so many Amsterdam on my ticket. I mentioned that since I was flying KLM, they will always take me through Amsterdam even on my return, just like BA will take one though London and Lufthansa will take one through Frankfurt. The Officer was very angry and said it doesnt make sense I replied saying What doesn't make sense. He looked at me and said the numerous Amsterdam on your ticket and escalated me to Second level screening with dangerous priority (My documents in a RED folder). I finally got granted access into the country without issues as I had already been to the country before and the Second level screening officer felt there was no issues in my case. Now, How more ignorant can an immigration Officer be concerning flights when he works in an international airport, sits at the desk and checks in thousands everyday into the US? Is the US still not prosperous with such individuals who are completely ignorant of what is happening even within his jurisdiction? Do you know that most Americans have never been out of their states before? yet Chxta wants Nigerians to go and visit all the states before we can get it right. For your information, I am not one of Chxta's so called ignorant people as I know nearly every nook and crany of Nigeria and appreciate the people in them. Why should we all start doing DIYs to provide basic and social amenities for ourselves when we pay taxes? What are the taxes meant to be used for? Except you don't pay the right tax in Nigeria, then you will not appreciate what I am saying. Nigerians have been very ingenious in providing solutions to their problems and that is more than enough for them to continue to bear. I cannot even start talking about pessimism and optimism because many posters on this forum automatically assume that once you are outside Nigeria, then you are a pessimist and constantly tell the whites how bad your country is. Since when has the Nigeria break up issue become prominent that it deserves a write up. I am definitely no advocate of break up, but If we like, let us break up into 250 parts, our problems will not disappear overnight without having the right leaders. Do you remember how quick everyone in Nigeria started wearing seat belt as soon as it was instituted. If you like have the best sheep flock with the right attitude, without a shepherd, the flock will all go astray! Finally, He says the solution is that we should change our attitude. I agree it is A solution but it is not THE solution. We need visionary leaders who want the best for our country and attitude change can complement it. Go and read what is happening in Zimbabwe and see the level of opposition that Mugabe is facing regarding his warped policies, yet his opponents are hounded and beaten/killed nearly every day. So are you saying the people of Zimbabwe do not have the right attitude? yet they have an inflation rate of over 3000%. |
Paw-Paw:With people like you supposedly in Central bank and making statements on the new naira policy, how will I not be worried for my country. See my post No 192 and let me hear what you have to say. |
Paw-Paw:So you judge people based on their location? |
herdey2tu:So you are implying that we still have about 200 years to go to get it right in Nigeria, if we have to go through what the Americans went through? I bet in the history of America, corruption has never been as bad as it is now in Nigeria so what lessons do we have to learn from them on that? |
People migrate for different reasons. When Uk citizens migrate to Spain, Australia, New zealand nobody says anything. When Americans migrate to Canada, nobody says a thing. When French and italian people Migrate to England, nobody says a thing. Yet, when Nigerians migrate overseas, they are virtually insulted by some other Nigerians on Nairaland who claim to be doing the best jobs in Naija and think that every Nigerian in diaspora is a sh*t packer or dish washer. Within Nigeria, people migrate everyday to the major cities and that has not left the villages and small towns empty of people. If you claimed to be doing a very good job in Nigeria, would it not be natural that you will know a lot of people who are equally doing well overseas, hence change your thinking? So, when I set out from my house in the morning and I see a white person, I would begin to think, Oh I am Inferior to this person. Is that the kind of thinking some of you have in Nairaland? Best to erase such a mentality if you have that concerning people here. So, you say people (I suppose disaporans) are scared to leave their houses in the morning because of racists. What of whites that are scared to leave their houses because of black gang members and youth on the streets? What would you call that? Some of us left very good paying jobs in Nigeria and are equally doing same type of work over here (with even better pay) so don't make conclusions about everyone in diaspora. To those of you saying that you have very good jobs in Nigeria, would you imagine what competition there would have been for the few very good jobs if many of the people overseas remained in Nigeria? At least we are emptying job spaces for people in Nigeria so that our unemployment level can reduce . We don't all go advertising the companies we work for in Nairaland.Mr central bank a.k.a @paw-paw, Going by your earlier post: "BREAKING NEWS Naira to be re-denominated The days of Nigerian cleaners abroad sending $10 and making a killing in the Naira is coming to an end". I believe you can learn a thing or two about strengthening currency from countries that have done that, such as Brasil. Even if diasporans bring back their £ or $ and change it one for one, do you realise that what one naira is buying now will not be what one naira will buy when the currency is strengthened? One naira will become much less, so with his/her new one naira, the diasporan will not have his purchasing power reduced! Your "whatever" naira you are earning now will be significantly reduced and should still give you same purchasing power. I hope the think tanks in your Organisation have done their jobs very well (and hope you don't represent their thinking), else I will be scared for this new policy. |
larger_20:Is the deal the person seem to be offering legal? Such a person is definitely not scared to drop an e-mail and fear for scammers. |
You are eligble to apply fo a United States visa in the UK. However, the embassy requires to see STRONG TIES to return to the UK after your visit, as the immigration act states that all applicants for non immigrant visas are presumed to be intending immigrants to the US. This strong ties are social, economic and or family ties outside the US. They look at things like: How long have you been in the UK? (the longer the better!) How long have you been at your current address? How long have you been at your current job? Are you, or are your children enrolled in school? What ties do you have in the Uk? What commitments do you have in the Uk that would compel you to return to the UK? Now, since you are a student, your strongest tie will be your studies so you will need a comprehensive letter from your school detailing your course, length of study/proposed course completion date, degree that would be earned e.t.c. I would also suggest that you should have been resident in the UK for at least 6 months before applying to show that you are at least "settled" in the UK. You will also need a very good sponsor for your trip/show your funds or show that you will be staying with someone in the US. If you already have a job lined up for you on graduation, you can tender evidence of that also. Overall, I would tell you that it could be as difficult in the UK as it is in Nigeria so you may think carefully about applying. It doesnt matter how full your passport is with visas or whether you have travelled to the U.S before. Once you do not meet their conditions as related to the requirements above, then you will not be given a visa. If you do apply, you will need to call to book an appointment and they will tell you the next available date. You will also pay the visa fees via phone using a debit/credit card and then they will send you an e-mail PDF receipt/interview confirmation providing further instructions for the interview. On the appointment date, you will go along with the receipt/document sent to you, your passport, a photograph and your vital documents. See link for further details. http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/niv/index.html |
It is unlikely that a state where the Governor is a Lawyer (Unilag graduate) and a christian would be against women wearing trousers. People should think carefully and get their facts right before making hasty conclusions. See his profile. http://www.suswam.com/profile.htm |
There is absolutely nothing wrong in him being a special adviser if he is qualified to do the work. |
lovesaint:On what basis are you offering South African passport? This is another example of the innapropriate things that bring Nigeria to shame! |
