ManirBK: US & France are Sources of instability in Nigeria & Africa. Check around the globe anywhere there is US or France military base you would see that there is destruction of security architecture of that country and a lot of armed group fighting the central government
Interesting. I don’t see that there is destruction of security architecture and a lot of armed group fighting in Germany or Japan with US bases there. Get your facts right. My reply is not about Nigeria but just about facts and information.
rentAcock: I tried my best to read the entire news article but I'm sorry the author needs to learn how to write concisely with less obfuscation. The Nigerian nurse in question should see this suspension as a blessing in disguise. Abroad is not meant for Africans and the White man will quickly remind you for any little mistakes or transgressions.
It seems like she was caught signing off medications as given when she didn't give them. She was investigated and fired as a result but then she applied for other jobs without disclosing that she had been previously investigated and fired. In otherwords, she lied in her job application which may be grounds for termination in the UK.
Fine, but how many Whites kill patients by overdosing or giving them the wrong medications without any repercussions? They probably sweep it under the table and erase any papertrail that shows negligence but when an African lies about giving common antibiotics, they want to burn her on the stake like a witch.
Nigerians abroad aren't you tired of being 3rd class citizens in the White man's land? You all go there to do one of the following occupations: support worker/nurse assistant ( glorified nyash cleaners), security guard, taxi drivers and nurse. After all the hard labor, insults and abuse, the government will still deduct federal, state, city, Medicare, medicaid, and disability taxes from it. In essence you slave away and then the government will deduct 40% from your check for taxes. On top of that, you still have to pay very high rent and sales tax on anything you buy. What kind of life is that?
These countries have no natural resources so they depend on human resources which is what you are. You are meant to slave away and pay crazy taxes so they can fund their budget. Nigeria doesn't tax her citizens this much because we are blessed with natural resources unlike UK and most of these European countries.
Imagine a nurse of 20yrs is still saying she's "financially desperate" and that's why she didn't disclose the prior investigation to her new employer. After 20yrs shouldn't she be financially buoyant and thinking of a lofty retirement? Instead she still needs to work just to make ends meet and you people call that life?
It's not late for Nigerians living abroad to return home. You can venture into more lucrative businesses here without cleaning poop. Nobody will call you a Niggger either and your life span will be longer.
3rd class citizens? I suppose tribalism is any better. I have never felt or been treated any less than my white peers. As long as people are doing legal jobs, it doesn’t matter what they do to earn a living. Dishonesty has no place in any society.
As much as I lament about the 40% tax, I see what it is used for and have my peace and sanity in this environment. You are asking for people to return home with all the unemployment and underemployment. Won’t it result in more of that? Is it everyone that can run a business?
She said that she was financially desperate. What desperation, if not greed and just using that as a cover up. Let them go investigate her finances and you would be surprised she probably has 2 houses here in the Uk and properties in Nigeria.
WorkBank: Funny enough, it was BVN that was used to generate NIN for most people initially. Now u are requested to link them. Nigeria?
I tire for the whole thing. I went to register for NIN in London, they said I had NIN. I said how come. They said my BVN was used to generate NIN but it was not active. I was required to activate/register it. I paid and did that. I went to Nigerian High Commission for passport renewal, they said that my NIN had an issue and wasn’t matching my name and one eagle-eyed official spotted that they put a full-stop in middle name that I don’t have during NIN generation from BVN. So, passport renewal was put on hold. Went back to NIN place to recapture / remove the fullstop and all went well and I finally got passport.
Now, I wanted to link NIN to BVN on Nigerian bank account, they said I need eNIN and I should download the NIMC app. I did that and tried to identify myself with my NIN. It says NIN not recognised. See me see trouble. I went to FAQs and found that BVN generated NINs are the ones that give such errors. Now, I am stuck. In fact, wahala no dey end as far as e concern us.
Update: just tried the app again and it recognised my NIN. However, they cannot send OTP to my phone because they have issues with SMS provider.
There are many big men who did same and no one reported, but dem still dey for jail.
Sec scrutinizes a lot of records..
True. Mergers and acquisitions deals will be scrutinised. It’s only a matter of time before they found out what he did and by then, his wife would be in a bigger trouble. She was very wise. To hell with that marriage. He betrayed her knowing what her job was.
Phut: They would have eventually figured out the suspicious deals, both would face criminal charges, as he is currently doing. The wife would go down with him because it’s especially hard for a spouse to prove that they were not aware of insider trading, by their significant other.
This is very correct. As a mergers and acquisitions manager, you’re bound by confidentiality and Non disclosure agreements. If you’re aware someone has profited from an M&A because of you, you must report it.
Reading many comments here shows how morals have been thrown out of the window and is why when some people japa, they experience issues here.
Ucheamani: Ogbeni, Both Heathrow and Gatwick are not in London, Heathrow is in Hounslow west while Gatwick is in west sussex. Both are called LHR and LGW for marketing and brand purposes.
Heathrow is in London as Hounslow is geographically in Greater London. Gatwick is not geographically in London.
For those asking about why not Heathrow for Air peace. Airports allocate slots which are paid for. Heathrow slots are extremely expensive and many airlines resell their slots. Google Heathrow slots and see.
I'm currently a customer service rep in a major bank (full time staff and salary is 310k monthly) and i've spent close to 3yrs so far and aged 31. I have a BSC and MSC in Economics (BSC-2:2 grade, MSC-2:1 grade). Now, in recent time, I've been nuturing the idea of working in any of the BIG 4 with PWC been my biggest wish
Question is, Is working in PWC still possible considering that my background is just customer service or i should just forget the idea ?
Professionals in the house, I need your answer to this please
To be frank, your chances are slim. Your age doesn’t count for you especially without relevant experience and professional accounting or finance qualifications. At age 31, people are already at levels of Manager or senior manager in these companies. Also, your first degree was a 2:2 and it takes the other factors to be at excellent level before the 2:2 will be overlooked.
If you still aspire to join the big 4, get qualified, get valuable experience elsewhere for a few years and then apply as an experienced hire. I did not work for a big 4 but I have had big 4 type experiences in top global consulting firms. These companies look for sharp young minds and many abound especially with top universities including private ones. If you have any foreign degree or experience, even better! At 31 and a starter, you may be like a baba if you get hired. 😊
She is now living in the UK illegally and also working illegally. If she returns to Nigeria, she will not be able to come back to the UK. If she had gone back before 6 months, she would have been able to return to the UK in future. She is simply enjoying her life in the UK and happy about the money she is earning and has decided that she will do what she wants.
Exactly what I thought. They convinced Ethiopian air to quickly repaint an aircraft just to say they inaugurated it before leaving. That plane was flying routes and was out of action for a few days to repaint it.
airsaylongcome: It's really nice to see she's still in the Police after so many years when her athletic prowess could have easily enabled her to emigrate to "better" climes. She's got my total respect.
She won her gold medal at a time we didn't really care were people came from. If it was now, there would have been East/West arguments about who is greater between Chioma and Falilat Ogunkoya
SegunBABA007: What’s your name ? , And the idiot is holding my CV.
Actually, this could be a valid question. The Interviewer wants to be sure you are who they are holding their CV and should be interviewing to avoid mix-up. Similar thing happens in hospitals when they hold your record or when you enter a room for consultation.
onyxo76: 65 years ,when most of them have already removed 10 years from their true age, that 65 year old will be almost redundant at work and still be blocking young and vibrant people from getting employed.
This is the true state of things. The only issue is that those who declared the correct ages will be affected. People start working too late in Nigeria. in most developed societies, they usually start working after graduation at about 22 years, so with a long career and no long break or unemployment, would have worked for upwards of at least 35 to 38 years by the time they are 60. They also want to travel the world at Retirement.
There is really no retirement age in many such countries but then they declare their real ages, are still productive at over 60 years and are not so much blocking spaces for the younger ones due to low unemployment.
My brother who is at level 10 in the ministry earns about 124k which is equivalent of 160 dollars.
It is. There are people who earn millions or Hundreds of thousands a month in Nigeria and people who earn 30k. So it averages out at the amount stated.
kayone2: Maybe I should be relocating to Switzerland, not the USA
When you hear the price of things in Switzerland, you will run. My Swiss colleague and her husband paid equivalent of over $500k just to do a landscaped multi level garden with pool. Not even a very large space or large pool. You earn much and spend all. Cost of living is very high there.
naijamanyoutube: Most Brazilians don't understand much of Spanish. I know because I have Brazilians friends I talk to, and I was in Brazil for 3 months. Speaking Spanish in Brazil is one of the 10 things you don't do. Search that topic on YouTube and you will see.
You are right that they don't speak much Spanish in Brazil but they can understand better than the other way round. I spent some months in Rio de Janeiro working but at that time I did not speak Spanish. Portuguese people in Portugal especially those close to Spain would understand more Spanish.
naijamanyoutube: That's dope you went to Uruguay! Uruguay protected their blacks, while Argentina tried to take out everyone with dark skin, including the natives.
I'm sure you saw a statue of Artigas on a horse while you were there, he fought against the killing of indigenous people. He is buried in the Plaza Independencia.
I took advantage that it was close to Argentina and I did not need a visa for both countries. Yes, I saw Artigas's statue and also Oribe. Took some photos. Followed the avenue down the plaza and lots of shops and restaurant. Had walked from the ferry terminal. Saw a large cruise line moored by the terminal.
airsaylongcome: I'm almost certain that the m/f also exists in Portuguese especially as it is closely related to Spanish. Most Spanish speakers would understand Portuguese. I'd have to research if Italian has it or not. But I expecte it to have it.
naijamanyoutube: Most Spanish speakers don't understand much of Portuguese. I speak both languages and I can tell you as a matter of fact.
Yes Portuguese and Italian have the masculine and feminine nouns/pronouns.
That's right. However, Portuguese speaking people understand Spanish more. Both languages are similar in words and so reading is easier both ways. I speak little Brazilian Portuguese but understand and read a lot more.
naijamanyoutube: Many Brazilians do NOT speak Spanish, and MOST don't understand much if you speak to them in Spanish. Dude, check out my topics, I've lived in Brazil and I know what I'm talking about. I speak both Spanish and Portuguese, and you will have problems communicating in Brazil using Spanish, if you don't try to learn some Portuguese.
It's easier for them to understand each other when it's written, but when spoken is another thing entirely.
Example: My name is Kris. Spanish: Mi nombre es Kris. Portuguese: Meu nome é Kris.
Only those that take some time to learn a bit of the other language are able to take advantage of the similarities and then are able to understand.
I visited Montevideo in Uruguay and loved it. I was surprised to find so many black people there in contrast to Argentina. Went from Buenos Aires via the very nice Buquebus ferry on a day trip. Enjoyed speaking Spanish there too.
PHZADDY1: Been learning Chinese and its not so easy
I'm learning Chinese Mandarin at the moment. The language is easy but its the "hànzì" (characters) that is not so easy. Thousands to learn, so taking it little by little. I speak many languages including Spanish, French, German, etc, so that's why learning more is not difficult for me.
samwash: Frence, Spanish, Portuguese & Dutch The world revolves around this languages.
Dutch or Deutsch (German), which one did you mean? As I don't see how the world revolves around Dutch which is spoken in The Netherlands and sort of in Belgium as Flemish.
CaptainFM1: My general drift on tax is that my people can absolutely escape tax in Nigeria, let alone paying 20% or whatever least is applicable in the UK.
I do not say specifically "you" in person are treated as 4th class citizens. The generality of view portends to that. Of-course there will always be an Oobama and a Ritchy S. every once in a long while. You get me now!
I feel ashame everytime, I visit a pub/club, especially white dominated and the only sit our boys can buy there is in the toilet to be issuing out tissues and spray perfumes to collect the leftovers.
For a first class citizen like you, you may not understand what these lads were complaining about. In over 20years I've been visiting the UK, there's always one advice I give people....."whatever you do there, do something back home". Many actually want to come back home, but because they haven't return anything back home and there's nothing to show for all their years of staying abroad, it becomes double jeopardy for them. They are the ones we call Uncle Jandor!
Well, its true that many people escape tax in Nigeria. Really, if you look at it, with VAT at 20% for most goods and services, the overall tax we pay is really huge.
You're so right about our boys in the Pub toilets handing out tissues.
