tj4ever:I am not in your field, but worked in an international company in Nigeria before moving to the UK. That did make a lot of difference in my getting a very good job here as it was easier for the employers in UK to understand the standard of the company and the kind of experience I gained while working in Nigeria. UK is a very production oriented country, particularly in food and beverages so I believe that there will be jobs in your sector. Try to see what kind of opportunities are available for jobs in this site http://www.totaljobs.com/ . Also, your type of jobs may not necessarily be in London as Plants will be located outside the London area. This is a list of british food companies and you can explore their websites to view jobs. http://www.britishcompanies.co.uk/food.htm A piece of advice is that you should try not to apply for jobs while you are in Nigeria, because you may not get responses. It is not impossible that you might get contacted for a phone interview if you apply from Nigeria, but the process will not be concluded unless you are in the UK (particularly for top level positions). |
deeteeneey:Can you explain how the title of your thread which is "seeking greener pastures" relate to travelling abroad for "holiday". I would advise that you have clear reasons for travelling and apply for the appropriate visa as such. |
tj4ever:With more info on your area of specialisation, specialisation and skills, you could get more advise on what opportunities are available here. Lets know when you get the HSMP and the job interview tips can follow. |
ECO's have guidelines and procedures for writing refusal letters. To get the picture on these guidelines, see this link below. Start reading from the section 26.3.2 - Other applications which attract the right of appeal (App 200). Please copy the link and paste in a new window to view. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&=1035898747816 |
Just a piece of advice. Can you try not to post messages in uppercase, please? It is difficult to read and is considered in several quarters as rude and shouting/yelling. I know of an instance where someone was fired for writing an official business e-mail in Uppercase. |
blujane:You are welcome. |
It can really be frustrating when you think you have finally found a job, only for it to be slipping right through your hands. Pray to God and commit the situation to him and I believe he will resolve your problem with the man. Have faith. However, if the job is not yours or meant to be for you, then it will not be yours! The real one meant for you will surely come. I definitely have not been in a situation similar to yours, but have severally experienced situations where my mind was fixated on certain job/companies and I ended up in much better ones. |
toshmann:People really walk so fast particularly on Oxford street. |
It was a task getting to the right page to vote! Anyway, i have voted for you. Goodluck. The direct link is http://www.mnetafrica.com/mnet/shows/dealornodeal_modelpoll_nig.asp |
@Jayon, You will have to naturalise as an igbo guy. Go and live in Asaba for 5 years and then you will get permanent residency there. After that, then you can naturalise. Change your name in any newspaper sold in that area. It is very easy ![]() |
I hope that the new Pay As You Go meter should be installed in your house in a short while. Until then, I really don't know how you can address the issue with your Landlord without receiving a rent bill that is 100% more in your next bill. My sister and her husband in Lagos just had a similar issue for water with their landlord and received a 90% increase in their rent about 2 weeks ago. The little I can say is that you should try engaging in a matured/fatherly discussion with your Landlord to see reason with you. If possible, make it a win-win approach. |

Siena:Sometimes, I really don't understand some forum members too. This is all about sharing experiences. The content of his post is more than just saying that he has arrived. It does give some information that are of interest to others. For instance, I am not a student, but it is interesting to see the study schedule. |
thegame:Just to give you a few samples of what some people earn. Do all the IT jobs below earning cool money look like hackers jobs? http://www.jobserve.com/W28AA9DF923C2998A.job http://www.jobserve.com/W5E7600CE299FC14E.job http://www.jobserve.com/W308456944F4DC54F.job http://www.jobserve.com/WF6BEE5077501F80A.job http://www.jobserve.com/W195E2DD6D28B7D8D.job http://www.jobserve.com/WCF27B52FE456E217.job http://www.jobserve.com/W92697D8A799E10D5.job http://www.jobserve.com/W7E03C92C15C7866B.job http://www.jobserve.com/W402CA072DFF1B339.job http://www.jobserve.com/WE69E605E3167315E.job http://www.jobserve.com/W392C433E120EA429.job http://www.jobserve.com/W3234782405657198.job Those figures are in pounds. @Paribus's application was a very thorough one. Other applicants should take a cue from it and package well documented applications. Always put yourself in the shoes of whoever will treat any application you make - Have you put all that is necessary for the Entry Clearance Officer to make an informed decision or what makes your application different from the pack? |
That was a nice write-up on your Swiss experience. The pictures made it even better. I plan to visit the place as soon as I can and would love to go to Geneva. |
Betty605:He has probably being denied a visa by the BHC. |
Having a pen in your front suit pocket. |
Aloofaa:If you need answers, I suggest you start a new thread and wait for officials of the church to respond to you. Members need this thread to interact. You are free to join! |
luvlawyer:Thanks. People need such information sometimes. |
Rare:I have mentioned in one of my posts that the authorities here are increasingly becoming worried about the rate at which students do not turn up at the institution after getting visa. It is acknowledged that some do go to other universities but there are some that do not resume at all. see this link for one of the actions the government is planning to take in future regarding students visa. http://education.guardian.co.uk/students/overseasstudents/story/0,,1830634,00.html |
Consider using Airfrance and go from Lagos-Paris-Manchester. I know of somebody who did same. You may face less stress at immigrations if you fly directly into Manchester airport as a student schooling in that vicinity. |
onatisi:I only said the post was funny. I do believe that there are wrong times to apply for visa but I cannot say for sure the reason for this. Maybe this is one of such situations. |
Just an information. If you are Nigerian and legally resident in the UK on most visas (multiple visa with at least 6 months validity left), you do not need a visa to visit switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Hope this is useful to some of us. At least, this is one country that has given us this concession, so I hope we do not misuse it. See websites: http://www.eda.admin.ch/etc/medialib/downloads/edactr/gbr.Par.0010.File.tmp/Visa%20regulations.pdf and http://www.eda.admin.ch/eda/en/home/reps/eur/vgbr/ref_visinf/visgbr/ukvsne.html |
ebos:Winners put their offerings in an envelope before putting it in the offering basket. We wave the offering while praying to God to accept it. It is possible your brother did not go with an envelope that day. Even when you do not have one, there are always people to give you a spare one. Here in London, we are given free envelopes to put our offerings. Nobody is trying to force you to contribute money. It is freewill giving in the church. I have worshiped in more than six winners chapels and nobody has forced me to give money or not to put cash in an envelope! |
Siena:Alright, thanks. Was worried as I had done extensive research on various options and had virtually settled for the S40. |
olamipo200:Goethe institute is for German (Deutsche) and not Dutch, which is the language in Netherlands. |
surugede:Na wa oh! |
swing4real:For real ? |
@Siena, to Digress a bit from the topic. Your signature says "styling a volvo is like putting makeup on a pig". What does it really mean? Thinking of getting a new Volvo S40 2007/2008 thats why I am curious to know. |
This is hilarious. ![]() |
9ja4eva:Don't have an idea where he is based now. |
