esplendido:I have listed some good questions that you can ask below (list is not exhaustive). Note that some of this questions may have been answered during the interview, so choose appropriate ones to ask. I once interviewed a candidate and towards the end of the interview, I was undecided whether to pass him or not. It was after he asked his questions and we went into more discussions, that I decided to swing the interview in his favour (I would say that it is rather unusual for this to happen). • How would you describe a typical day for the person doing this job? • What sort of people have done well in this organisation? • What is the company’s vision for the future? What are the plans, if any, for growth or expansion? • How would you describe the culture in the organisation? • What are three basic things that would make someone an outstanding success in this role I am being considered for? • How will my performance be measured? • What structures are in place for career development? • Is there any area that you have concerns that I need to clear up in order to be favourably considered for the job? • When do I expect to get feedback on this interview? Or, When do you expect to be able to make a decision? • What is the next step in the hiring process? Good luck. |
Dammy1:I am also extremely impressed by pastor David Oyedepo (Jnr) sunday service teachings in church here. It is amazing and people's attendance in church has improved since he came here a few months ago, though the attendance has been okay. I don't watch it online as I usually attend the 3rd service at 11am. |
Ndipe:Have watched the film like 3 times. Couldn't help watching it anytime it showed on TV back home in Naija. |
Hmmmmmm, SAP, a gateway to good life and rolling in big bucks. ![]() www.sap.com and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_AG. Simple. |
Expect to be asked questions about things like Teamwork, handling pressure, challenges, leadership, initiative e.t.c in your previous work/school experience. Following links can give you a good guide if you have enough time to prepare well. Concentrate more on the questions that you think apply to your situation. Finally, don't forget to ask intelligent questions at the end of your interview! http://jobs.telegraph.co.uk/frequently-asked-interview-questions.aspx http://www.tezu.ernet.in/dcompsc/alumni_inputs/HRInterviewQuestions. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/career_and_jobs/article1295625.ece http://uk.hudson.com/it/node.asp?SID=5144 Be confident, without being over confident or seemingly arrogant. There is a thin line between both. Goodluck. |
Her phone is likely mobile CDMA technology, not GSM technology. She can't use it in Nigeria with a Sim card. |
Currently reading "Half of a yellow sun" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Its very interesting. |
debosky:Some of us worked in consulting or currently work there. Ask people who work there to tell you their total package and their net after tax. |
uchetobi:I wonder if @Blackninja really has friends in those consulting firms mentioned. He needs to ask his friends again where they work or what they earn. The salaries for starters are in that range and though they may not be like those of oil companies, they are certainly not low. @Kobojunkie, I am no doctor, but know some. The salaries for Intern Doctors are in the range mentioned, i.e. 40k to 110k. |
jamex2xl:It means that you require 5 credits to be qualified to attend the institution and those 5 credits must have been obtained in not more that 2 attempts of writing that examination. so for instance, you can combine 3 credits in the 1st attempt (sitting) and 2 credits in the 2nd (attempt) sitting to make 5 credits. |
Another thread to start University vs polytechnic debate! It is simple, they both have different focus. Universities focus largely on conceptual, problem solving and analytical skills while polytechnic focus largely on usage, skills and knowledge of tools or practical applications of tools. Both teach the other elements, but on a smaller scale. For instance, Universities graduate engineers and polytechnics graduate technologists. In Nigeria, entry requirements to universities and polytechnics are different for both qualifying secondary school certificates and the jamb exams. Note that both universities and polytechnics are supposed to complement each other. Who dreams up the tools and who knows how best to use or apply it? Polytechnics have been abolished in the UK and some ex-polys are rising in university rankings. |
Adedigold:In the corporate world, it is usually okay to return to your former employer as long as you did nothing wrong before you left. Some people do it but it is not an easy decision to take. I can go back if I enjoyed working for the company in the past. |
Its a classic case of "The grass is not always greener on the other side". He is simply a realistic person and has taken the bull by the horns. I admire his courage. and am sure I will hire such a person. |
How many Nigerian leaders have you seen leave their posts willingly for any issue that they are involved in? Very very few, if at all there are! |
nkemdilimi:@nkemdilimi, Read my post very well. I didn't do that write up on NNPC Vs Accenture. All I did was to correct @Africaface's misconceptions about Accenture, simple. |
Shortly before I left Nigeria to settle in the UK, I was treated for malaria as I fell ill and tests showed it was malaria. After the treatment, I felt okay, but decided to carry anti-malaria medications with me to the UK. A few weeks after I arrived, I noticed the malaria symptoms again and took the medications I brought along. I got well very soon after and have not been ill since then. So I would advise anyone just coming to live here to carry some anti-malaria along. |

agerho:It stands for Chartered Financial Analyst. Good for a career in portfolio management, investment research, advisory services, or investment banking. http://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprog/ |
buso:Drop a copy of the determination from AIT at the BHC. You might just be lucky to get called soon afterwards. |
Bedos:I thought you've been told that you cannot enter the EU with your UK visa? The UK visa is not an EU (Schengen) visa and so you are not permitted into the EU countries. The only place you can visit in Europe without a visa (if you live in the UK and have multiple UK Entry Clearance valid for at least 6 months) is Switzerland and Liechtenstein. |
Dont know about equipment, but recently they have been sending their officers for training overseas. At least I know of recent trainings to U.S, South Africa, UK and Belarus. |
Check www.kayak.com. Very good site. But you will not get anything cheaper than £932. |
@Darfur, You fit accept £189.99 for the return ticket? I no get £215. |

It depends on what your brother is planning to study in the UK and the future after his course. if he believes that he can get a job in Nigeria on completion of his studies, then he should go ahead and do the course. If your brother intends to go to school in the UK in future, then he should be ready to defend the reason why he did not use the students visa that he was given. On a personal note, I would rather go for the studies as one cannot quantify the experience you will get if you do it. Also, my future cannot be tied to a particular job as there several opportunities. |
That is his internet life! You know internet is everywhere, so is he too ![]() |
deeteeneey:Its alright. Would advise you make it real next time, as people will always try to contribute in the best way if you post a message. |
denex:So what is the statistics for Nigeria? We simply don't keep proper statistics of crime so you can't conclude. The guy's company's business is mainly cash in transit so he is canvassing for his security guys to carry guns. How many banks in UK have been robbed and people killed compared to banks in Nigeria? In Nigeria we don't even report the names of banks robbed for fear of stigma! Always witholding their names. http://allafrica.com/stories/200708310599.html http://allafrica.com/stories/200709140652.html http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070906/wl_africa_afp/nigeriacrimebankrobbery http://www.nisat.org/west%20africa/news%20from%20the%20region/MAIN%20NEWS%20PAGE/nigeria/Nigeria-%20Armed%20robbers%20in%20military%20uniform%20kill%20two%20in%20bank%20raid%20.html |
I thank God for what he has done. By no means can you be denied a job that is meant for you. I think it is a good option to consider taking up the job in another branch. |
angbaby:I know that you have to physically go to the passport office and take a digital photograph. So how does submitting your passport to this agent compare? Are you aware of a period where several passports were cancelled and the holders encountered various problems with embassies and entry points in countries they travelled to and most had to be deported. If you need a passport, go to the passport office! http://odili.net/news/source/2006/jul/16/49.html |
