By January, a new minimum wage of €8 will be introduced.

The cost of a room apartment varies from 200-350 depending on the city, give or take a few euros depending on some states that can be extremely cheap or expensive.

You can however go and test the waters before moving over permanently. Also check for similar enquiries on "toytown-Germany".
Hope you find it useful.
God bless you.
Just to add to that, guys are really counting on that 8.5 Euro/hr to be precise grin grin grin although the minimum wage will be compulsory from 2015 but with a two year-transition period granted to the different sectors so it might not be fast enough as expected, depending on the sector although there are speculations that people who have been unemployed for long periods and people new to their work system should have to work for at least 6months before being integrated with this minimum wage and also it might not cover certain internships less than 3months.
Not feeling too good because I couldn't make it for enrollment this year. D tin be say wetin I goo dey do for haus till winter? huh Nothing daunted 2015, application clearly in view and I'd better learn some "badass" German before then. Gemeinsam wir sind stark.

You obviously don't read the thread , at least read this page, your question has been answered.

So it's confirmed , some foreign offices give 1 year and some give 2years studentvisa. I once heard they give one year at Bavaria, Can anyone there please confirm this? It will do us a lot of good if we can identify this states. @ak47 thanks for the info. it goes a very long way. Gemeinsam wir sind stark.

Here are your answers.
1) if you came here with a blocked account, you will have to show proof of financial sustenance for another year again before your visa can be renewed. And its complicated changing it to a verpflich....... it can be done but i don't know how.

2) Yes you have to pay for conversion of your 3 months visa to a resident permit. i dont know how much because i didnt pay in my city and i was even lucky to collect a 50€ Gutschein....lol.

3) This 3rd way is relativ, some city accept it and some dont, if you have a contract that pays you about 650€ you can use that for visa renewal, but like i said not all city accepts this.

So be fast in doing this, because you have to book for an appointment which doesn't come easy.....no let your 3month expire for your hand before you go..........otherwise dem go send you back and dat na another GOBE You will have to return to Nigeria and apply for another Visa

So brother be wise ohh......lol

Welcome to Deutschland..........

Abeg peeps in Nigeria how true is this? http://www.tagesschau.de/nigeria-163.html

Was any German killed in Lagos or Ibadan?
Because the way the writer just composed this news he was not nice at all, really painted Nigeria to be very Dangerously place.
Unfortunately yes. At sagamu...my heart bleeds when ever I read news like this.

@esdajo
I think you have nothing to loose by attempting to confirm if you have been banned. Amidst all these, they might not be obligated to tell you that you have been banned but I think they might be obliged to tell you if you make a request. Then you can make your next move like deferring your admission.

According to work permit, you can worl 4 months full time or 6 month part time to enable you focus on studies. There is no where it was stated you can only work 20 hours per week.
Yes you're right. Had to check back on that. Its more like 120full days or 240 half days in a year. How you share the days is up to you so do the maths.

Thank you. Please my questions pertains to survival especially when the money in the blocked account has been exhausted and one is faced with reality. Will it be possible to secure a source of livelihood especially a lady like me. What kind of feminine jobs can I do to meet up with rent, feeding, semester fees and other miscellaneous? also bearing in mind that my studies must not suffer. Will it be possible to combine both studies and work conveniently? I am gonna have to resign my job for this major milestone and I need to be sure its worth it. Thanks
That is one major issue behind most people's mind. People in Germany testify that the learning is intense and we will have a lot of catching up to do academically. Learning the language while studying intensely and working will definitely rock anybody's world in Germany, so I think learning the language to an extent before Leaving Naija is important to avoid getting almost overwhelmed as we have told a lot about this. Non-EU students are allowed to work for only 20 hours a week( those who work more than this will have to pay into social security but there might be ways around this trust naija). I think how convenient it is depends on the type of Job you get, the type of Job you get also depends on your German proficiency( If you know German, you get more convenient choices where they pay more and if you don't speak German, you have to stick with the fewer English speaking jobs that come your way). If I remember correctly the minimum wage will be 8.5 euro/hour as from 2015 generally. Although this is applicable to people new to the German work system only after 6months of working( google more on this) so you can do the maths of the possible income. Ogas in Germo with the real experience should add or subtract

I don't think anyone can answer your question upfront undecided huh huh huh, Even if you want people to guess what the specific reason for denial was, you didn't tell whether it was through the blocked account or sponsorship method as well as give other important details.

For new folks in the house and especially Mr. Obfuscated (@kuzee) you claim to have done your research but from your questions I can tell you still have not done enough when it comes to reading this thread meticulously, leaving you as flustered, flummoxed and confused as you are shocked {no offense} please do your self a good favor by doing this because the previous pages are full of the problems, solutions and experiences others encountered on their way to Germany. After this feel free to come back with questions. Strongly over 80% of problems you guys are going through have been trashed in the past.
I slightly agree with @gadafitruth since he later gave you clues to your OND application puzzle. Research is very important on this journey so spoon feeding is frowned on by many here (e.g @naijaobi and others) . Mein zwei Loffel.

Please guys am in a state of confusion. I registered for TOEFL through an agent called Edulight. I wrote the exam on 27th September. On 7th October I received a mail that my score is out. Since it was an agent that registered me, I called them to request for my scores. Their boss asked for my name and ETS I.d I sent it to him. Lo and behold after waiting for some hours I got no email, or any messages as how to access my scores. Its 3 days now no response. Right now the guy and his workers have stopped picking my calls. my application deadline is 15th October. Am agitated Please what can you advice me to do?
After what my eyes saw with Edu-light, I taught there was really a force in this universe acting against me directly. I registered with him for toefl and things turned out as if I registered for trouble cry after paying him the required fee for over a month, getting the confirmation email was achieved only by constant calling and shouting, when the result was out, getting my profile details was almost impossible as he kept twisting and turning and lying, I emailed ETS to get my username and password to check my scores which took almost two weeks.10 weeks after seeing my result online, getting the original by regular posted mail was the most infuriating as it took me about 6weeks extra of shouting and threatening to destroy his shop(office) at palmgroove before he finally sent it as he claims to be at Benin city. My point is I missed four different deadlines because of Edulight I advise that nobody registers for TOEFL with them. My experience with them was horrible. Mein zwei loffel

I just realized that i can't use just my WAEC result to apply for undergraduate programe that it doesn't meet German University requirements.
I have google searched and saw that i have to attend Studienkolleg preparatory course....Where and how can i do this preparatory course?

wat are the alternatives for me to get admitted, is it Cambridge A level or wat?

wat are my options?

plz tell me wat do i do? plz

If you're new here then you must have a lot of ambiguous questions, meaning one question leading to another. Best advice is read at least the first 100pages of this thread , you might even end up advising others smiley Don't know about any German Programs in Warri but when you read through enough pages, use DAAD to search search for potential schools you will be able to make a good choice(some schools might offer your program in English, few for B.Sc unlike M.Sc). Just take your time and read through.

graciousme: Thanks. The bank refused me Form A. They said the recipient name is my name rather than the school name. Tried explaining the blocked account stuff to no avail. I decided to move the money to another bank and alas I would be charged like 40k.
CBN regulations of 10,000dollars limit per day also limited the amount I could deposit or transfer.

In all,God is faithful.
wow, that was unfortunate, undecided40k! Thanks for sharing your experience though. I was thinking you should try another branch of the bank as a last option if you have the time, since it has been successful for someone else. Sometimes when the game changes you can also change the players and things might just playout better with a less paranoid banker. Just thinking aloud. I think what people should learn from this, is that it is better to talk with the people in charge at the bank before making such transactions just to be on the safe side. Mein zwei Loffel

Generalkorex: Good morning all
you guys had been doing good work here. I have been following this thread for a while now.
I would like to go for an undergraduate course in germany
but most of the school offering the course I intended to study offer it in both german and english[50/50 in some schools]. You guys already know the requirements for undergraduate course already that its tofel/ietls,or one year in a recognised university in naija or studienkolege.
What would you advice me to do?
Should I sit for jamb next year and do a year in university before starting my processing
or I should go to goetheze school[german school] in lagos so I could do the studenkolege of a thing.
Thanks
danke
gracias.
You can try NOUN as well if you don't want to do Jamb although I think that's too late for this year so start getting ready for next year. And generally I would advise you do as @dolpaz said cos similar issues have been trashed pages behind.

dolpaz: Broses,
I once read somewhere that your account needs to be funded with 8040 each year before your local authority can renew your documents.
Anyway, i may be wrong.. Eke40seven, I will chat with you shortly
Regards !
This is agreeable technically because you are paying the money whilst you renew your documents, my point is you're free to pay it after staying in Germo for about a year and subsequently (which is easier if you plan on getting a job, although this varies for individuals). I even heard the price which should be 8040 euro might vary depending on the city, meaning it might be slightly cheaper in some places [this was hearsay and is yet to be confirmed]. I am only averse to your statement suggesting you need pay all the money (about 6m) at once if you're going for undergraduate. Feel free to pay that wink, if you have the money though. Our Oga's over there at germo for years nowwill have the best say about the minimum amount required, so they should add or subtract.

xij38580: I'd like to say thank you for taking the time out to read and provide answers to some of my questions. Sorry about my naivety but I'd still like some clarifications

1) Do i have to put in the 24120 Euro all at once ? Can i instead put the money for 1.5 years instead and leave the rest in my mutual fund / Government bond in Nigeria to earn some additional interest, and withdraw from it as I need the money? Or does the block account pay interests? I have a concern with money just sitting idle.
I strongly disagree with with @dolpaz response for no. 1 If it was that way then everybody going for undergrad studies would be lamenting, that's almost 6million naira at once for blocked account for 3 years undecided. Then people going for 2years program (M.Sc) will also have to pay twice the 8040 Euro...lol this will be really devastating for most people because getting the getting 1.8m was quiet tough. I once read somewhere, (although I can't remember where) that only the money for a particular year 1.8m will be requested and the rest for subsequent years will be settled in Germo. Other bosses in Germo can shed more light on this.

Hi everyone!!! Had a good laugh on the spoon feeding episode and am still laughing cheesy cheesy shocked, nice one @naijaobi. No one should never be too busy to research for sth as important as your school to be. That aside, I am still in the first stage of the German dream which is getting admission.I was at the embassy to certify 0n the 6th of this month and the first thing the black chubby lady told me was to use the hand sanitizer and I was told to come back by 12pm to get my certified docs unlike it used to be. Change of procedures by the embassy's foreign office most likely because *Ebola* is around and many things are changing real fast. It's the end of August and am still expecting response from three schools. I am getting worried a little if the outbreak could begin to influence the decision of admissions for those still awaiting a response, hope it never gets that bad but how would we know for sure so lets hope I am very wrong. We all know the back-bone of anything we hope to achieve in Germany is the language regardless 64% of Germans speak english so lets start learning the language here even if you plan on taking language courses in germo. I hate talking plenty kissbut its been a while I contributed to this awesome thread cheesy. This thread really keeps a lot of people going, so lets keep posting our experience and ignore 'bad bellied people' . dcitizen1: Hello, fella

It is very important to us to take this forum and thread very seriously and exploit the advantages that germany as a country has to offer us. Now that we will be exposed to first hand and state of the art facility and sound intellectual framework coupled with possibility of intership, the excuse that we are decapacitated in our fatherland to take advantages of the economic and social opprtunities and contribute our quota to national development will be reduced drastically.

It is very important for us to think beyond mere survival and take our study and exploit very seriously. Each and every individual need to develop his or her personal project or long term career goals and take it very seriously. There are a whole lot of opportunities back home but we lack the capacity to exploit the opportunitie. Germany could be our saving grace to provide us with the requisite skills, international exposure and technical expertise that we require to realise our aspiration. There is an element of greatness in all of us. The situation where a technician or craftman in china or india will be dictating ur destiny in nigeria is unacceptable. Also, a situation where a graduate of engineering programme find it difficult to manufacture a common toyor tooth pick is pure madness. A situation where we have become pure raw materials to the white man and symbols of living encyclopedias who are living failure is heart rendering

Ponder over all these and avoid irrelevant acrimony and bickering that are common among black pple. Let us take our destiny in our hand and take advantages of technological and knowledge transfer in our host country. Let us be good ambassadors. A word is enough for the wise.
Quite a mouth full of words but I couldn't agree more. The world is really changing and we young africans need to step up to be able to compete efficiently with our contemporaries from other parts of the world especially developed countries. thanks for the motivation though. @eke40seven, you and this your archaic english, making me read twice to really get your point. Great job everybody keeping the German dream rolling and congrats to those who already got their visa. I would also love to add anybody learning german on duolingo as friend just to spice things a lil' over there, just drop your username or add me 'temiemmanu'.
