Christianity Etc › Re: Stingy Men Association: What The Bible Says by Tcwork: 9:00am On Jan 17, 2021 |
Akell: When Christians are stingy they usually never realize it. You can give and still be stingy. There are some people who give, but with a grudging heart. They think “Aww, do I really have too?” There are some people who offer things, but in their mind they hope the other person says no.
We must not be lovers of self and lovers of money. We must think about others just like Christ thought about us. Give with a cheerful heart not expecting anything in return. Be generous and love others just like Christ loves you. Stinginess is not part of the Christian life.
People are worth more than material things you must never forget that. Where are you storing up your treasures? Would you rather buy stuff or help the poor? Why not readjust your giving today and be a blessing to others. It is so hard for rich people to enter into Heaven.
What does the Bible say?
1. Proverbs 28:22-24 The stingy person hastens after riches and does not know that poverty will overtake him. The one who reproves another will in the end find more favor than the one who flatters with the tongue. The one who robs his father and mother and says, “There is no transgression,” is a companion to the one who destroys.
2. Proverbs 23:6-8 Do not eat the food of a stingy person, do not crave his delicacies; for he is like someone calculating the cost in his mind. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart is not with you; you will vomit up the little bit you have eaten, and will have wasted your pleasant words.
Give not with a grudging heart
3. 2 Corinthians 9:7-10 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
4. 1 Chronicles 29:9 The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD. David the king also rejoiced greatly.
5. Romans 12:8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
6. Proverbs 11:24-27 One person is generous and yet grows more wealthy, but another withholds more than he should and comes to poverty. A generous person will be enriched, and the one who provides water for others will himself be satisfied. People will curse the one who withholds grain, but they will praise the one who sells it. The one who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but the one who searches for evil—it will come to him.
7. Deuteronomy 15:8-11 Instead, be generous and lend them whatever they need. Do not be mean-spirited and refuse someone a loan because the year for canceling debts is close at hand. If you refuse to make the loan and the needy person cries out to the LORD, you will be considered guilty of sin. Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the LORD your God will bless you in everything you do. There will always be some in the land who are poor. That is why I am commanding you to share freely with the poor and with other Israelites in need.
Treasures in Heaven
8. Luke 12:16-24 Then he gave an illustration: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. In fact, his barns were full to overflowing—he couldn’t get everything in. He thought about his problem, and finally exclaimed, ‘I know—I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones! Then I’ll have room enough. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “Friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Wine, women, and song for you!”’ “But God said to him, ‘Fool! Tonight you die. Then who will get it all?’ “Yes, every man is a fool who gets rich on earth but not in heaven.” Then turning to his disciples he said, “Don’t worry about whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For life consists of far more than food and clothes. Look at the ravens—they don’t plant or harvest or have barns to store away their food, and yet they get along all right—for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!”
9. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.
10. Matthew 25:34-40 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Be generous
11. Proverbs 22:9 The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.
12. Luke 6:38 give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.
13. Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.
Reminders
14. Proverbs 11:26-27 The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it. Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor, but evil comes to him who searches for it.
15. Galatians 6:9-10 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
16. 1 Peter 4:8-10 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. See how Christians use the bible as a tool to sell personal views So you believe dashing babes IPhone 12 would take you to heaven? There is no single blessing for being nice to babes. If you have charity, give to the poor. It's not about spoiling your babe. Kindly leave the bible out of this. |

Jman24: Stop dodging or responding with a question. We are talking about Jesus whom you claim is the creator. Did he violate his law "thou shalt not kill.." since a killing was involved? I ask a question so I can better understand you and know how to best answer you. I have 2 perfectly good answers but I need to understand where you are coming from to know which better suits your need that is why I asked. Was God a murderer when he ordered mass murders and genocide in the old testament? Numbers 21.2-3 So Israel made this vow to Jehovah: “If you give this people into my hand, I will without fail devote their cities to destruction.” 3 So Jehovah listened to Israel’s voice and gave the Caʹnaan·ites over to them, and they devoted them and their cities to destruction. Therefore, they named the place Horʹmah.* Deuteronomy 20.16-17 But in the cities of these peoples, which Jehovah your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not allow any breathing thing to live.+ 17 Instead, you should devote them completely to destruction, the Hitʹtites, the Amʹor·ites, the Caʹnaan·ites, the Perʹiz·zites, the Hiʹvites, and the Jebʹu·sites,+ just as Jehovah your God has commanded you; And many more. |

MaxInDHouse: LOVE is God's predominant attribute, there are four kinds of love [1] Sexual Attraction [2] Relations [3] Friends [4] Unconditional The fourth is called Agape in Greek, it's the love God have before creating life but because we humans are flesh and we can only develop love for visible things not what we've not seen it's not easy for imperfect humans to love someone without first having anything to do with the person. But due to FAITH Jehovah's Witnesses have cultivated love for all kinds of people and most importantly those who are related to us by FAITH {Galatians 6:10 compare to Matthew 12:46-49} this is why we don't carry weapons for any reason!
JOY is what comes naturally from a pure heart and because we're imperfect it's difficult for us to be joyful without nothing to show for it. But due to FAITH Jehovah's Witnesses have been taught to be joyful always. Imagine what could prompt your neighbour to come visiting you uninvited! ask yourself "how many times have i thought of going to visit someone uninvited if not for selfish reason?" Well it's only when you're joyful that you can think of doing so, hostility is the fruit of Joylessness. PEACE amongst people is impossible when there is inequality, because someone has what you don't envy, jealous and strife will set in. That's what is destroying the human society but Jehovah's Witnesses have PEACE amongst themselves, the SPIRIT gave no room for envy so JWs from world's richest nations feel bitter seeing their brothers suffering in poor countries, even amongst those leading the group, there is perfect PEACE. You can't see this in any other group because Mammon (money) is involve in their goals, they can't do anything for God without material possessions.
PATIENCE is another scarce quality though you will see people in different religions who are patiently living their lives with whatever they have. But when politicians and other agitators incite them to protest their patience will die naturally. Jehovah's Witnesses will never join in any form of protest due to the SPIRIT controlling their Organization!
GOODNESS is what you will notice in all humans, even hired killers does good to people when their heart permits them, but what about being good towards people you don't know? Surely it's due to goodness in others that makes a beggar sit by the road side confident that he/she will get something from passerby but you can never find a JW begging in the streets, their brothers and sisters will not allow such to happen due to that SPIRIT! Psalms 23:1
GENTLENESS is another quality that is well spoken of by all people but it's only amongst JWs where the SPIRIT dwells that everyone believes gentleness could be found. Please from which religion do you think people can never expect hooliganism? Even during Christmas when the Spirit of hooliganism controls people to throw firecrackers (bangers) up and down. The SPIRIT will never permit JWs to join in such.
FAITH is the unusual stuff! 2Thessalonians 3:2 Scarcely will you find a group of people known globally for unwavering faith in the promises of their God. But Jehovah's Witnesses set the pace, people are still wondering why JWs refused to approve food offered to Idols (unscriptural festivities) casual sex, blood transfusion. Well it's the SPIRIT not individually choices! Act 15:28-29
MILDNESS people everywhere wants others to join them in worship but what do you hear from them? Religionists will say God their intends to roast all those who refuse to join them in worship forever, yet they will still curse those unbelievers at the slightest thing, but JWs will present their strict rules with mild temper and deep respect for the audience {1Peter 3:15} so whether you agree or not their attitude towards you doesn't change because the SPIRIT have already set limits to which they can deal with unbelievers and they'll tell you why they'll not join you in certain things, all other things you'll continue to do together as neighbours. Please don't forget what JWs told you about their faith because they will not compromise but they'll remain your friendly neighbour always!
SELF-CONTROL religious leaders have set so many unscriptural rules for their members ranging from don't drink alcoholic beverages, don't play with unbelievers, don't put on earrings, don't wear make-ups, don't put on trousers, don't dress your hair and so on. Why all these rules? their leaders strongly believe they lack self discipline! So what is the effect of Mr Holy Spirit they're always talking about as another person living inside them?
One or two of these qualities you will certainly find in people anywhere you go but only God's Holy Spirit can bring imperfect humans together to exhibit all these qualities as ONE BODY that's why Jehovah's Witnesses refer to this SPIRIT as God's Active Force! I think I am not getting you. Almost every Christian organization believes in these virtues. I have personally been to the JW kingdom hall 4 times. Their mood of worship has it uniqueness but I did not witness a big difference in personal virtue of the congregation from any other good church. Christ said, a city set upon a hill cannot be hid. So tell me what to look out for the next tone I visit the kingdom hall? |

MaxInDHouse: Surely you don't understand my post, you just keep admiring the skill!
I told you the highlighted is what Satan is using to blind fold people so that you won't recognize God's people! Surely you will find good and evil people everywhere and believe me there is on human being on this planet that will not possess at least one or two of those qualities, and at the same time there is no human that can possess all these qualities as a person! So in every religion you will find both nice and evil people, the unique thing about Jesus' true followers is that despite the fact that they are just like all other people, God's Holy Spirit will organize them so that all these NINE qualities will reflect not in each individual but IN THEIR ASSEMBLY AS ONE BODY! John 17:20-23
That's why Apostle Paul said when you notice all these qualities in a GROUP of worshipers, don't think there is any LAW against them! Galatians 5:22-23 So how does it reflect on the body but not the members |
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Jesus Christ Jehovah? by Tcwork(op): 8:41pm On Jan 16, 2021 |
MaxInDHouse: Well i disagree with you on that!
Each point goes along with the nine qualities of God's Holy Spirit. Number 1 ~ LOVE 2 ~ JOY 3 ~ PEACE 4 ~ PATIENCE 5 ~ GOODNESS 6 ~ GENTLENESS 7 ~ FAITH 8 ~ MILDNESS 9 ~ SELF-CONTROL Surely you can notice individuals having one or two of these qualities because we were created in the image of the one who possessed it all, sin is what degraded us to this extent! Romans 3:23
But apart from JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, you can never find a group of people with just one of these qualities as ONE BODY! That's impossible! That's impossible !! This is where I would ask you, how do you know? Personally, I have met the good, bad and ugly from your organization just like most other organizations. That's my personal but honest opinion. I am not sure there is a big character difference |

MaxInDHouse: Well if you agree with my explanation regarding the FRUIT of God's Holy Spirit then these are the questions that can help sincere and honest hearted individuals identify the GROUP that perfectly befits this description.
[1] I'm black and African, will my religion/Church permit me to pick up weapons against people from other races at the order of selfish politicians? Mark 12:31 [2] Am i contented with what my religion promised me regarding the future or my religion promotes accumulation of material possessions? Luke 18:18-23 [3] Is there PEACE amongst those taking the lead in my religion? Is this PEACE permeating the entire group globally? John 14:27 [4] What is my religion teaching me about worldly achievements? Am i happily and patiently anticipating the coming of God's Kingdom? Matthew 6:10 [5] Can members of my religion engage in any kind of protest against the authorities? Romans 13:1 [6] Am i under any obligation towards unbelievers in my neighbourhood? Matthew 10:11-13 [7] Does the teachings in my religion promotes fearlessness? Matthew 10:28; John 11:25-26 [8] As a religionist am i free to practice hooliganism? 1Peter 3:15 [9] How many times have members of my religion been involved in cases due to lack of self discipline? 2Timothy 2:15
The above 9 questions will help each person know if his/her religion befits what could rightly be called Christianity!
After considering the first three questions, i realized some twenty six years ago that Islam can't be the group Jesus talked about, that's why i began searching for Jesus' GROUP though it took me 18 years more before i said goodbye to Islam. Another nice writeup. I think only the first point is unique to JW. And that is the beauty ofmodern christiandom. Every organization picks a few aspects as their main focus |

Is he playing double standards by laying a curse on him initially and luring him into it? First it was not a murder. Jesus had the power to take his own life no one took his life. Jehovah endorsed killings and genocide in the old testament did he break his own law? |

MaxInDHouse: THE INDISPUTABLE FRUIT OF GOD'S TREE!
The FRUIT of a tree is it's IDENTITY, people may choose to start arguing over an orange tree and lime tree because of their similarities. But please pluck the fruit anywhere you find it and the TASTE will prove what type of tree it is! In the same manner the FRUIT of God's tree have a unique taste that anywhere it grows you will know it. This FRUIT has nine unique TASTES ~ LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, GOODNESS, GENTLENESS, FAITH, MILDNESS and SELF-CONTROL! Galatians 5:22-23 When most people read Paul's letter they assume each Christians must possess all these qualities! Forgetting that imperfect humans are still under sin {Romans 7:21-25} so no human can possess all these qualities except Jesus Christ! WHY? Because he came from the one whose Active Force dispenses this qualities No wonder God asked us to listen to this young guy from Nazareth! Matthew 17:5
So if no one can possess all these qualities, then why did Jesus say interested persons will recognize different trees by THEIR FRUITS? Matthew 7:16
Well there are different spirits behind each religion you see around you, they may claim they worship the same God but it's the rules of each spirit that determines the tenets of each one of them. 1Corinthians 8:5
Therefore the tree that belongs to God is what will yield the FRUIT not each individual, so if you begin studying each member of the group you will be lost as you will find nice people and crooked ones in both Jesus' GROUP and Satan's GROUP. Note that we're not talking about where good people gather or where evil people assemble. But because they're under the control of God's Holy Spirit imperfect humans from different races will come together and you will notice that as ONE BODY all the qualities of God's Holy Spirit will be complete IN THEIR GROUP! Of course they will not welcome religious ideas from any other source, remember they're the true followers of that young man who said "I am the way, the truth and the life, NOBODY comes to my father except through me!" John 14:6 Because of their rigid stand on what their Master handed over to them, and they are not ready to welcome religious ideas here and there, all other religionists will single them out and hate them! John 17:14-17
So i don't need to mention the name of any religious group, each follower can go back and study if his/her religious group possess this qualities as a BODY not thinking about nice individuals found in your church. Remember Nicodemus was a member of the Pharisees yet he was nice to Jesus!
Thanks for giving me the privilege to share this! Nice write up. But still there has to be more. This writeup could easily represent any church. In fact if I was given the writeup and asked which church it reflects it was be hard to reply. And like you said the fruits of the spirit are not unique to any organization. So please if there is more to share I am listening. At least, I need to see the difference. |

Jman24: Naa. My point is.. how come you didn't use passages to buttress your points like you were quick to do in the othniel question? Should we hold your own idea supreme over what u have been claiming you hold supreme (Bible)? Haba.. I did not use passages because you seemed uncomfortable with it. And you said no long story so I assumed you just wanted a direct answer. |

MaxInDHouse: Exactly what individuals in over 41,000 different religions claiming Christians despite having their contradicting teachings and conflicting doctrines have been saying yet none can present evidence that God's Holy Spirit is working with their GROUP except just one GROUP! This is a brand new you. Version 2.0. In other post, you never shy away from any topic. You always used your great writing skills and knowledge of scriptures to express your pionts. But all that ends today right? 1st today you discredit a large part of the bible, a book you used in making many great arguments. And 2nd for the first time. You decide to keep your views to your group. What brought about this new personality? |

MaxInDHouse: The highlighted is why we will leave you with your brethren to first sought out a conclusion within yourselves, then after you've all agreed on the same line of thought, we will observe the result of your submission before we can consider what you think! Note what i've been saying from my first post on the thread each individual is entitled to his own personal opinion, but those of the house of FAITH use the scriptures to resolve all their differences regarding FAITH, i have found a global family of peace loving worshipers who have agreed completely on the same line of thought, so if you don't agree with them it's either you present a better performing group or keep your idea to yourself as your own PERSONAL opinion! Well this is a brand new you. In other threads, you are extra expressive. You never shy away form a discussion. And you used all your great skills and bible knowledge in making your point. But all that is changing with this brand new you right? |

Jman24: Funny fellow
let's assume Christ is the creator and was recorded that among his commandments were "thou shall not kill".. how come that same creator needed a murderer to die for the world thereby violating his own law to man? Matthew 18:7 New King James Version 7 Woe to the world because of [a]offenses! For (A)offenses must come, but (B)woe to that man by whom the offense comes! |

I answered that already You are now beginning to ask the same questions and to call me names. The murderer violated the law not the creator |

Present evidence that the Holy Spirit is working with their group. That is deep? I would love to hear more about the evidence |
