DNP2020: Very Strange Experience With My Father. Should I Be Worried?
Hello guys.. the background behind this story is lenghty so to spare you the trouble ill jump straight to the point. My father though he has his flaws is a very religious and i dare say principled man in some aspects.n He never misses church service. Went to bible school. At one point he was even a house fellowship leader. He prays and fast often.
So on this day i was standing in the doorway to my dads room. He wanted to send me on an erand ''i think'', so he opened his wardrope to get to get the money. Immediately he opened his wardrop i saw a BAT...yes BAT hanging upside down right there in his wardrope. In shock i jumped and shouted
''daddy see bat see bat !!!''.
Guess what he did. He simply smiled and gently closed his wardrope. I have never been this confused. I saw a bat hanging upside down in his wardrop and all he did was smile and gently closed the door. I don't know what to make of it. I have already concluded, there is no way on earth this is from God. Up until this time i have never seen a bat up close in real time. The closest ive been was watch them on television. Contemplate how scared and confused i am now. I picked up an excuse and ran out of the house to go stay with my relative..its been a week since i left and im still too scared to go back.
What do you folks make of this? How can a man who prays and fast and attends bible school have a BAT in his wardrope. WTF !!
Theres a part two and this one is about my mother. What is your problem? Is your father not an adult? Isn't he allowed to keep whatever animals of his choising? In case you don't know, Bats are one of God's wonderful creations |

A. Going to war to kill people.
B. Using the death dealing tongue to kill.
Is there any difference between the TWO?
Jehovah’s Witnesses did not serve in the army, the reason being that they did not want to kill. They see the MILITARY as WAR MACHINES.
Its not as if JWs never go to war before . last last it is AUTOMATIC DISASSOCIATION or disfellowshipping from the ORGANIZATION. Remove that policy and see what happens? Even God is mighty in battle. Maamin: I can see that as well Maamin and Janosky the great tack team. Obviously, both of you share the same believe and probably have the same religious leaders. But if you would be honest with yourselves, I was the one on the scriptures side while you both depended more on logic and basically promoted your church's position. At a time you guys started questioning the purity of Christ's sacrifice just to prove that he isn't the Savior. I have 10s of questions you couldn't answer all bible based. Your best question was why Jesus allowed Judas to betray him. That was your proudest moment. You felt you were able to put Jesus Christ in a tight angle. If he allowed Judas to betray him, then he can't be Jehovah. But that isn't how it works. He is Jehovah. He bore the name before his mortal life. Everything Jehovah promised to do in the old testament was fulfilled by Jesus. Moses, Isaiah and other prophets saw him face to face. Every prophet since the time of Adam testified of him. Revelations 19.10 At that I fell down before his feet to worship him. But he tells me: “Be careful! Do not do that!+ I am only a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who have the work of witnessing concerning Jesus.+ Worship God!+ For the witness concerning Jesus is what inspires prophecy.”+ We learn a few from this verse 1. All the prophets of old witnessed Christ/Jehovah. The witness of Christ is the spirit of prophecy. 2. We too are called to witness for Christ/Jehovah. No man can come to the father, no man can know the father without Jesus Christ. We follow Jesus Christ /Jehovah only and he would lead us to the father. This is the message of the old testament and of the new testament. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas. I pray we all continue to learn and grow until we come to the fullness of his knowledge. Until we all like Job see him again. Job 19.25 For I well know that my redeemer*+ is alive; He will come later and rise up over the earth. Job testimony of Jesus Christ is same as mine. He is my redeemer and saviour. |

King44: a simple question you left unanswered.... How were they raised? How did their life turned out at the end? Do you think the method used while raising them has a negative effect on them your life? Until you answer these questions truthfully, I am done arguing. In social sciences we begin by looking at a group not individual. I have made it a point not to answer personal questions on public forums. I believe it is basically unwise to do so. I won't be able to tell you how I was raised. But yes the negative effects of domestic violence can be seen all through africa. We have a greater tolerance for violence. That is why we can burn suspected thieves in a market and everyone things it's fun. We also have greater fear of the law and people in power. After a child has been tortured by his parents, he doesn't see why police should not harass him. We have been taught to accept pain. We have also become a lot more wicked. And domestic violence has continued to grow. You expect you child not to beat his wife but you beat him everyday, it does not work that way. Like I said I can't teach you how to run your family but comparing the evil africa to the UK system is like comparing darkness to light. |

King44: flogging is not domestic violence, there is difference between discipline and domestic violence... Nowadays, we seems to have different English words to condemn things we feel are wrong.... Am I an African man I can use both the two ways of disciplinary when needed.... Do much talking and little bit of flogging when needed or astray... As long as it instill some sense I am cool. First domestic violence has a simple meaning, 'Violence committed at home' This isn't controversial. Now I wouldn't teach you how to raise your children but then you shouldn't condemn how the British raise their kids like you did in your first post. Again you have refused to show me how Africans end up better from the beatings they get or how beating helps a child to get better. The whites are so advanced, they don't even beat their cattle the way our fulanis do. So are we saying a cattle in the UK is better than a kid in Nigeria? Think about it. |

Whether you flog or not a child who would bring shame and dishonor to his or her family will surely do so it's a matter of time... I would go with you last sentence... you say whether you flog your kid or not, he would be what he would be right? So why flog? Why the domestic violence? Flogging is a sign of a weak parent who has no control over his kids without the show of brutal force. When would africa grow pass that? |

Give every Nigerian kids these things you would be amazed by what you would see them do, even without that we are competing fine on our own without support. You keep saying we have a better way but it's not reflected on any aspect of our society. What evidence do you have to show for it. Isn't it our kids joining Boko Haram in the north? Really ask yourself, how can you prove that our way is better? You can't just stick to a culture because your forefathers did it. edoairways: Rod is not cane. Rod are for animals not human beings. Christian parents frequently seek the Bible in their effort to raise godly children. They believe that there is a biblical mandate to spank and they fear that if they don't spank, they will commit the sin of losing control of their child. They believe that Gad has commended them to spank and they take “spare the rod and spoil the child” literally, but in doing so they misunderstand the concept of the rod. The following are the biblical verses which have caused the greatest confusion:
“He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.” (Proverbs 13:24)
“Folly is bound up in the heart of a child. But the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.” (Proverbs 22:15)
“Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod he will not die. Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.” (Proverbs 23:13-14)
“The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to itself disgraces his mother.” (Proverbs 29:15)
At first glance these verses seem to be in strong support of the use of corporal punishment, but do they really? Through a closer examination of the Hebrew word for “rod” (shebet) one can see that in the Hebrew dictionary it has various meanings, a stick for walking, writing, fighting, ruling, and punishment. The word “shebet” is most frequently used when referring to shepherds who are tending their flocks. The Shepherds used the stick to fight off prey and to gently guide wandering sheep, not to beat them.
Reread the passages above and replace the references to punishment and the use of the rod with the word “accountability” and the meaning stays the same.
For example: Proverbs 13:24 would read, “He who spares accountability hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.”
Proverbs 22:15 would read, “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child. But holding him accountable will drive it far from him.”
Proverbs 23:13-14 would read, “Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you create a culture of accountability he will not die. Create accountability and save his soul from death.”
Proverbs 29:15 would read, “The culture of accountability imparts wisdom, but a child left to itself disgraces his mother.”
Christians believe that the bible is the inspired word of God and yet while holding fast to interpreting the “rod” in the Proverbs passages above as a mandate to spank, they dismiss other passages that seem too harsh by today’s standards, such as, “Anyone who attacks his father or his mother must be put to death.” (Exodus 21:15) or “If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother, and his blood will be on his own head.” (Leviticus 20:9) Almost every parent would admit that their child has at one time said, “I hate you.” or “You’re not the boss of me.” or maybe, “F--- YOU.” But no one would say that their child should be put to death. And we would all agree that that child needs to held accountable for their choice in behavior. The Bible simply does not support spanking, it supports holding children accountable. It supports “train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) “Training” does not mean spanking, hitting, or any other form of corporal punishment.
We believe that creating a culture of accountability is the most loving thing you can do for your children. We believe in holding children accountable in a model that Jesus gave us. In the New Testament Jesus modified the Old Testament by providing us with a model of gentleness and love. He changed the eye for an eye approached and called for turning the other cheek and forgiving seven times seventy. Consider these inspired words of God in your parenting, “Fathers do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4), or “Fathers do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.” (Colossians 3:21), or “What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a whip, or in love with a gentle spirit?” (1 Corinthians 4:21). You deserve an award |

King44: we have a faulty foundation and not a faulty model of raising children in Nigeria (Africa in general), the foundation on which the country (Nigeria) was built is faulty, the constitution which uphold the country is faulty now imagine pouring pure water in a dirty container what would you get?
There is no reasonable numbers of upright people you could possibly ship from other so called less corrupt nation into this our nation and everything would change and become sane, two things would happen is either they join them or go back.
Those people who are corrupt and tuning this country upside down could have been upright from the start but because they find themselves in a situation whereby they are surrounded by crooks who were not booted into shape when they were young they had to fall in and do all they do just to conform.
Some of those our so called leaders in Nigeria were raised without conscience... Whether you flog or not a child who would steal and loot the treasury one day would surely do it... Parenting style can't change that... It only depends on how strong will such person/child after absorbing any training that is available to him.
Do you think if those leaders you said they are less corrupt in other countries find themselves in Nigeria they won't steal?... Their constitution or law is the thing holding them back but still they steal but they don't do it blindly like it's being done here.
Example Trump... I can bet that he was raised without being flogged and he was raised with abundance of money does that stop him from being a dick head?
Child character modification is different from discipline. Best case scenario you discipline and instill uprightness in them... Two different things but they go hands in hands
Either you use the rod and modify their character at the same time or you don't beat and also modify it when needed. Nigeria is actually a product of its people. Would you blame our foundation for the incredible number of yahoo boys, cultist and corrupt youths on our streets? Your opinion on trump is very personal. About 48% of Americans voted for him. Probably you know something they don't know but that is up to you. And that is a topic for another day. Now let me ask you and please be honest with your answer. In what ways are nigerian trained kids better than UK trained kids? Again how to we prove that the centuries of flogging has shaped africa for the better? You added that flogging a child wouldn't prevent him from stealing in the future so why flog him in the first place. Also don't you think we can do better than our primitive ancestors? Evolution has made us much more intelligent than them. How can we still depend on their methods men centuries over? Africa really has to much work to do. |

King44: Pele o, Gini the genius.... He disciplined his child and you are calling everyone dull... If that child turned a gangstarr, murder, bungler, rapist tomorrow you would be among those hoping he rots in jail... That is the real definition of dull, not doing what you are suppose to do at the right time is something way worse than dull. So you believe that all our corrupt leaders in nigeria were not disciplined by their parents? Or all the gangster, murderers and rapist we have were never flogged by their daddy's? Is that your point? Now let's see the difference The UK is one of the least corrupt nations on earth, it has great educational system, it's crime level is way below ours and it continues to product global innovators and leaders. We have flogged or kids for 100 of years how did it help us get better? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Maybe if we change the way we train our kids, we could affect the next generation. |

One thing is to object to something another is to go disturbing your neighbours why that thing is evil!
Well all my life as a Muslim the only group that came pleading with me at my door are Jehovah's Witnesses! Matthew 10:11-13; Romans 10:13-15 Every Christian organization has a form of missionary service. Some definitely are more successful than others. If we take winners Chapel for example. They have been able to grow their organization into the millions in just a few decades. Clearly they areally ahead of JW in getting their message to the world. I am not trying to compare. I only wanted to show you that everyone is reaching out no only JW. Only that some methods are more effective. Philippians 1. 14 Now most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence because of my prison bonds, and they are showing all the more courage to speak the word of God fearlessly. 15 True, some are preaching the Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter are proclaiming the Christ out of love, for they know that I have been appointed to defend the good news;+ 17 but the former do it out of contentiousness, not with a pure motive, for they are intending to create trouble for me in my prison bonds. 18 With what result? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is being proclaimed, and I rejoice over this. In fact, I will also keep on rejoicing. I rejoice at the good work your organization performs. I have many times given financial support for your publications. I believe you are sharing light to the world. But obviously not the fullness thereof. JW is unique in it's ways. Your teachings are different from many other organizations. Maybe one day we would discuss this uniqueNess better. Still the one thing I think that sets JW apart is their stand against war. The idea may not be totally original, but I give it to you guys. It's a hard one. You guys are also against blood transfusion. Basically these are the 2 most distinctive characteristics that set JW apart. If I missed anyone forgive me I am not a member. And for the missionary work aspect, I thing some other organizations beat you to it in the effectiveness. Take the seven day adventist, you don't see them knock from door to door yet they are 20 million members worldwide. They obviously have a more effective way of reaching out. To me it's not a competition Everyone is doing his part with the little truth he has. You do not have a monopoly of the gospel truths. You don't have all the gospel truths. There are some many great things God is yet to reveal, so much he is revealing today. As we all continue to hunger after his words, he would lead us to where he wants us to be. All men are children of God. Our father has a plan to save everyone of his children. Salvation is not limited to a few millions. It is far reaching. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ has the power to save every human being that has ever lived in this world. One day the truth would be made know to all, and at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow. |

MaxInDHouse: Well do you still remember the two greatest commandment? Matthew 22:36-40 Claiming you know and love God but failure to love your neighbour means something is wrong somewhere! 1John 4:8 So YES! We have a serious issue with WAR, God promised that by the time his ACTIVE FORCE gather people from different races throughout the earth as one big family they will destroy all weapons of war and they will not learn war anymore! Isaiah 2:2-4 That's what many other religions who wants to imitate JWs finds difficult to achieve. Do you know WHY they can't succeed in doing so? Well it's another top secret! People still believe in human effort to solve the world's problems, so they're trying all forms of government. Today the last form of government that will soon collapse is DEMOCRACY, people have to choose every four four years who will rule them but each time they do so the coming government will prove to be worse than the previous! The truth is 99% of people in the world are miscreants and hoodlums so if the majority will choose the next ruler then try to envisage what will happen! Relief only comes whenever an unwanted dictator comes to power not through casting votes but the politicians will track him down no matter what good he does for the masses. So JWs knew all these that's why we solely rely on the coming Kingdom of our God {Matthew 6:10} but that's not just it, Satan now seize the opportunity to promote killings amongst people that's why humans will continue to kill themselves {Revelations 6:3-4} but despite the fact that we are also humans and all these affects us too, the temptation of taking sides also could infect us but God's Holy Spirit camped us as one so that we may remain neutral at all times!
That's the secret!
So basically the no war thing is your strong unique point. Ok I get that. Maybe a topic for another day because it is a really controversial issue. Also as much as that is unique, JW is not the only religion in history with a no war policy. Also if a new church comes up with such policy, would you rate it as much as JW? |

MaxInDHouse: There is nothing like "good church" it's either the church of God or the church of Satan!
Both will be filled with humans who were created in the image of God, but while the FRUIT of God's Holy Spirit permeates the church of God {Galatians 5:22-23} Satan's Church will be filled with the normal human traits. Galatians 5:19-21
You don't need to get to the Kingdom Hall or Churches of Christendom before you can notice the work of God's Holy Spirit in the midst of God's people.
Look around you and observe the way religionists dearly treats members of their group. For instance during the intertribal conflict between Ilé-ifè and Modákéké in Osun state, there was no religion that could control their members not to allow tribalism come in between their fellow worshipers. What about Rwanda? The Hutus and Tutsis were slaughtering each other. What about Apathied in South Africa? The white were against the blacks to the extent that all the religions in South Africa have separate places of worship for the white separately from the ones where blacks were assembled. Only JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES remain united in all of these. The SPIRIT maintained the LOVE, JOY and PEACE in the midst of God's true worshipers!
What can you observe in their place of worship?
Even Sango worshipers will treat themselves well in their gatherings. It's life outside their place of worship that will reveal if truly what they displayed in their place of worship surely have an impact on them! 2Timothy 3:5 I understand your point but I think you are not understanding my questions. First some Churches not just JW have fought discrimination. More than a dozen churches gave refuge during the Rwandan crisis. These good acts of kindness are widespread. I am not sure you have been able to mention that act of good that is specific to JW. Tell me something that I wouldn't find in almost every Christian organization |
