On international airspace : nationality of the airline. In a sovereign airspace. Depending on the country's law, a country like USA will offer you citizenship but some it's automatically the mother's nationality. |

Afterall some officers now use the IWI Jericho 941. That said I've never seen the Tavor with any MOPOL squadron or SPU or CTU operators. I may be wrong though.

BruncleZuma: Tdayof come and see ooo The NPF is a funny force. At Ibadan this week, I was stopped by a lady on mufti. I didn't stop then she brought out an ID card but my mind didn't go there as I never expected a police officer to stop me when I'm not a criminal. I stopped and the lady was like my oga wants to see you. I obliged and followed her to a parked golf vehicle. They started asking questions and wanted to collect my phone and purse then I was like my dad is an officer man . I mentioned the rank and name (he immediately recognized the name) and he was like how sure are you that you're his son. Knowing they're SARS, I told him I'll put a call to the DC Incharge and he'll regret his illegal action na so the man release me. People were like congratulations, why did they release you? They've arrested alot of people today. Truth be told, the Nigerian police force isn't a profession to be proud of even know my dad is a personnel of the NPF. They can be so embarrassing. However, I have come accross the good ones too. The Nigerian police should set up monitoring team to checkmate the work of her officers. A professional police officer should be able to assemble an AK47 within the same time line as the kidnapper but their low self esteem and putting much concentration on their damn uniform as a police officer and less concentration on their duty as an officer whose job is to protect the citizen. |

ssaengine: My last point on the matter....having academics and researchers working abroad at specific institutions does not equal having the technical know-how to design, industrialise and manufacture. Writing a thesis on a topic does not mean know-how. You're lying to yourself if you think 4 guys who specialise in radar, means its then possible to design & build radar for an A29 type programme. You would need dozens of radar specialists alone to pull that off. Its a huge task. Then add in flutter analysis, then add in vibration specialists, etc etc....10 years minimum as I say.
Britain sent a whole boat load of nuclear scientists who assisted the US build the 1st atom bomb. When those scientist returned to the U.K, Britain still wasn't able to build a bomb on it's own. It took a considerable further effort to get one that worked.
But anyways, its not impossible for Nigeria. Will just take time. Have a good weekend. I'm talking about practical knowledge. Like I said there's a Nigerian who's also working on the Chinese C-919 I once saw the name on AFIT website. I personally also know a PhD student in my school from Pakistan who works on the project too. I once asked him if he knows the guy but he says there are alot of guys here and everything on the aircraft isn't done at his own facility so he doesn't know the person. I'm sure aselsan isn't an academic institution so the guys there are not learning in terms of academic but practical. My own point is that we not having a good aerospace sector doesn't mean we don't have people with technical knowledge in the sector. It happened to the British doesn't mean it's same everywhere. Alot of countries got it right also so we can too. Have a good weekend too |

I watched the girl's video. The door wasn't locked so she could have escaped even if it was a rape case.
Secondly her only claim is that the guy dragged her and then also pulled her by her 'waist "
She might be a criminologist but then she knows nothing about the law.
The guy can sue her for defamation of character. Everyone now wants to claim rape case because you're a lady. |

ssaengine: I'm sure they are dozens of countries with an even higher number of their citizens in those Chinese institutions, but those countries will still find it difficult to get an A29 type program off the ground. People really do underestimate a large scale engineering project.
6 guys here, two guys there is not enough. If it was the other way around, with Chinese and/or other nationals permanently based in Nigeria with the specific intention of starting such a program it would be a different story.
That's how most countries start such endeavors. e.g Israeli scientists/engineers moving to SA to assist in certain weapons programs in the 80's. I'm aware of 6 whom I know personally so there are dozens who I do not know about. Plus how many countries have the fund and will go want to start such program ? If we have specialist learning already with expertise in such sector then what we need now is the fund, will and infrastructure then the government can negotiate for the technical know how which includes ToT and human resources to be sent here. |

ssaengine: Nigeria would have to pull a massive golden rabbit out of its hat in order to convince Russia, China etc to partner in order to produce anything close to A-29. It would take 10 years minimum & cost a whole lot.
What critical aeronautical expertise would you bring to the project? Or rather which part of the project would you call shotgun on? Avionics, radar, weapons release?
It's not impossible, but don't be foo.led just because it's a prop driven aircraft. Such things work if you already have a large base of industry experts in your country working full time on similar projects. ...and to say I know 6 Nigerians who have been working with aselsan turkey on aircraft development and over 15 working on aerospace sectors in China under the federal government sponsor? These guys I'm talking about finished from AFIT then to crawnfield and now working with Chinese corporations to gain more more knowledge under the sponsor of the Chinese government. A good look into AFIT website will show you a link of and a particular Nigerian who is also on the Chinese first commercial aircraft development C-919. I saw the link last year and I'll check again. I even have a PhD student in my school from Pakistan that works with some Chinese team in my school with the development and design of some component for the aircraft. The Chinese defence sector has a large percentage of its aircraft project and development being done by universities then being passed to AVIC and others. Even the Chinese J-20 fighter stealth was developed by a university and being passed on to the aircraft manufacturer. In short, there are Nigerians with knowledge in the fields you mentioned. Just like our own space project isn't that too big, we have people who have knowledge on such. Blablablabla, your point is pointless. I mean no offence so don't reply with ibinu. Last last, transfer of technology will do most things here. Expertise and experience in the field is available so transfer of technology will do the rest. |

ocelot2006: I'm afraid you're wrong. The NPF does not have the AK-103 in its inventory. The present standard issue rifles are the Chinese Type-56-2 or the original Bulgarian copies of the AK-47 with foldstocks. Elite units like CTU,SPU, and even some MOPOL units/squadrons are equipped with Israeli upgraded AK-47 rifles. But NO AK-103s. Let me ask you a question. Does the Nigerian police make use of Tavor? |

MrHistorian: It's getting from bad to worse for this country.
NPF should seek sound legal advice and employ competent lawyers.
The way criminals abuse this 'rule of law' ehn. Did you read the post? NPF legal claimed it was listed as exhibit and that he has no other means except for armed robbery. You do not need a court order to seize such. He'll lose again at court. The Nigerian police has a legal department (lawyers) employed as uniformed officers. |

I don't see the Russians using them in Syria, yet we know how that one went for IS and "moderate" militants in that country.
Invest in more attack helicopters, UAVs from China, fighter jets from China and Russia, while we get recon planes from the US. What Rubbish! They're saying $494m now. Where's the balance from the $600m. The aircraft is overhyped jare |

nemesis4u:
the point from where a contract is signed, it takes time to deliver especially if the lines r idle , and on confirmed orders , OEM places order for consumerables to hundreds/thousands of vendors and then waits for delivery , which again takes time and then plate cutting for fuselage is undertaken after materials r delivered , add in various tests and when the various components, consumerables r delivered integration begins which is interrupted by various tests at various stages , once the aircraft is completed , factory level tests then tests by the user etc takes places .
All in all just saying for any primary OEM time frame of delivery will be same give or take some months after the contract is finalized.
That's the reality which u guys r not aware or r overlooking The Chinese will deliver fast. Those guys have a very fast line. I guess due to man power. They have various projects going on at AVIC . The view is always fun wherever I visit. They can get you an aircraft in a year. I need to have a tabled discussion with the defence minister. I'll rather wait 2 years for a flanker than 2 years for a Tucano. |
