The aim of US was to taunt Putin into giving them excuses to cripple Russia's economy. Bad economy will make Russian's resent Putin and probably replace him.

Russia depend on imports for her industries to work and exports in oil to get foreign exchange for imports of raw materials

You speak of matters you do not understand.

The USA has no formal defense relatinship with Ukraine - which is one of the themes of thethis war.

The US has formal mutual defense treaties with Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, with actual military bases in both Japan and S.Korea, and a huge naval presence in the South China Sea.

Vastly different situations.
USA heads leads NATO: a military alliance formed against the Soviet Union. Overall objective is to eliminate the Threats from Russia.

Putin is asking NATO not to accept Ukraine as a member. Of course, NATO is not giving any guarantees.

Russia has gone ahead to seize Ukraine as a preemptive action. Now, Ukraine just found out she's just a mere Pawn to both Russia and USA.

If you read between the lines NATO is not ready to plunge themselves into a War. However, Ukraine can be sacrificed to weaken Russia economically!

Who says USA will be willing to to commit to fighting China over Taiwan or Japan?

I hope Taiwan, South-Korea and Japan are learning from this.

The Western powers has mouth but when it comes to putting the hands where it matters with another first world country they will chicken out and you'll be alone.

Japan: be prepared to take on China ALONE
South-Korea be prepared to take on North-Korea ALONE

Everyone can see NATO are the aggressors and Russians are just defending themselves from a sudden attack on the west.
NATO annexed Cremia which was part of Ukraine
Then, they planted a puppet President in Ukraine
They then forced Ukraine to give up their nuclear arsenal to NATO
Then they sponsored the two separatist governments in East Ukraine
Then launched an attack on Ukraine

Iran won't dare such suicidal move to try Isreal

Israel cannot afford to fight outside Israel because of their limited population. Iran could be wishing to start a jihad that will ursher in the Al Mahdi

Foreign Affairs › Next Step: Ukraine, NATO And Russia by TenQ(op): 5:06pm On Feb 26, 2022
Against the Russia - NATO stalemate, Russia has made a strong move to:
1. Occupy Ukraine
2. Install a puppet government in Ukraine
3. Force Ukraine to negotiate with Russia and agree to a perpetual bond not to join NATO
4. Probably annex Ukraine

The next move is to be by NATO. And I think their move should be:
1. Impose severe economic sanctions on Russia
2. Grant automatic and immediate membership of Ukraine to NATO
3. Move move in to defend Ukraine
4. Consolidate by building a formidable launching site for NATO military in Ukraine.

Consequence of not doing this:
1. China will launch an attack on Taiwan and annex it
2. North Korea will assault South Korea
3. Iran will launch its own attack on Israel

What Russia could have done:
Instead of launching attack on Ukraine, Russia should have:

1. Up their diplomatic Relationship with Cuba, Argentina,...with military aid and request for Joint military bases and launching pads
2. While the noise of this is going on, Russia shout repair it's diplomatic Relationship with Ukraine and guarantee their safety (Ukraine seem to be peaceful community)
3. Russia should persuade Ukraine at least to be NEUTRAL!

The only reason why Ukraine is contemplating joining NATO is simply because Russia had been consistent in bullying them.

The EU is a disgrace. NATO is disgraceful.
NATO should have made their stand crystal clear to Ukraine from day one in the event of a Russian invasion; instead of giving them false hope. NATO couldn’t even predict the invasion. It was US intelligence that saw it coming and those one already took military intervention off the table from day one.
If NATO had at least moved their forces quick enough into Ukraine their presence alone might have been enough to deter Putin. It would take a lot of balls for him to shoot at soldiers bearing the NATO tag.
Apart from the UK and France to an extent, no other major European power is even behaving as if anything is happening.
Ukraine should just agree to Russia’s terms for now abeg, tomorrow they go again. Maybe by then NAssTO would give them more support.
Ukraine is not yet a NATO member.

USA is a member of NATO

And as a country whose security is threatened, should Russia just keep quiet and watch Ukraine dine with NATO until they build bases on their borders?
The difference here is, one is weak the other is powerful.
And the idea of sovereignty is funny.
Powerful nations bully weak ones all the time.
Ukraine wanted to join NATO because of Russia's aggression to it. If Ukraine had felt safe with Russia, she wouldn't even dream of becoming a Member of NATO.

At the same time, Russia is against NATO only because of USA. Russia may not mind Ukraine being part of a joint defence force of Europeans but not NATO.

Russia may invade Ukraine but it will be difficult for it to occupy it. It will also be seriously economically damaging for Russia for a long time. In the case of WW3 coming up, Russia will still loose out because it cannot fight on multiple fronts and win. I don't know any strong allies that Russia has in the world except the Moslem world led by Iran.

China will watch the East and the West destroy each other and hope for an opportunity to take over world leadership and dominance.

the nuclear weapon was owned by the soviet Union. Ukraine could have partnered with another country (even if it is South Korea) to reverse engineer some of the nuclear arsenals. But they never imagined that Russia could ever turn against them

Zelensky said before the attack, he called putin but putin snubbed him. After seeing what he said, I started feeling sorry for Ukraine Sha.
But all in all, I blame NATO and USA. Because according to zelensky, he said he wanted security assurance from Russia. Russia in turn said it wanted security assurance from NATO.
Meanwhile, NATO I mean USA said Russia's security concerns are "Non starters". Meaning, NOT WORTH TALKING ABOUT.
Na this thing vex putin. If this was Trump, Trump would've called both Russia and Ukraine to the table. Then say to putin, we will give you assurance, if you give Ukraine assurance. Simple. But sleepy was saying "No, No, No, No". What a fool.

Meanwhile here's what zelensky said

Why does Ukraine keep threatening Russia about joining NATO?
Although, I 100% think Ukraine application to join NATO is to check Russia aggression or potential aggression, however, the same act by Ukraine is a security threat to Russia.
In this kinda situation, essentially, everyone is trying to survive.
The former president of Ukraine was installed by Russia (and he made some sell-out of Ukraine in favour of Russia)
Russia is directly sponsoring the two separatist region in Eastern Ukraine (to destabilize the country).

Should Ukraine just keep quiet?
