Yeah, whatever the case, when you’re aware of your apparent disadvantage in a battle, you don’t jeopardise yourself further by making yourself vulnerable to further attacks.
If she was advised by her lawyers not to show up, she’d better jump back in the legal market for a new representative.

Ned Nwoko did not jail her. She had a court date and failed to appear. Any judge would do same thing. You either appear in person or atleast get your lawyer to show up and provide even the lamest excuse. Now she’ll be arrested and be within reach of the courts.
Could it be that someone was sponsored to arrange their absence in court?

Could it be that Jaruma's lawyers were compromised with some hefty millions?

Only the parties concerned know the full truth.

If you don't believe in reincarnation then it would be hard to impression on you the absolute individualities of mind and soul.
Mind is the databank of reality and everything within; emotions will experience and perception.
Soul is an inherited mass of life that house the knowledge of nature. People could tap into their soul for inspiration innovation invention.

Consider your mind as who you are, you soul as who you should be.
A Human being has two natures
1. A physical nature:
By which they exist, feel and interact with the physical world.
2. A spiritual nature:
By which they exist, feel and interact with the spiritual world.

The soul is a store of knowledge, memory, personalities, emotions and character that share its nature with the body/physical nature and with the spirit/spiritual nature of man.

At death, man drops his physical body from the union of his body, soul and spirit. Hence, at death, man become like the angels (a union of soul and spirit).

Resurrection is the recombination of the body with the Living Soul (union of soul and spirit)

DFOmobolla:
Spirits have a beginning but no end unlike God who is the primary and eternal spirit.
Very true. Except that God as a spirit does not have a beginning not an end.
Angels are Sprits
Demons are spirits
Humans are also spirits

Your assertions are right. But one correction the soul doesn't process thought the mind does that.

Do you believe in reincarnation?
The mind is a component of the soul that intelligently process data, information and logic. The soul consists of the Will, Emotion and Intellect hence the mind is a subset of the soul.

I do not believe in reincarnation: it is senseless in all ramifications. I believe that every human soul is unique and eternal because a human being is also a spirit. When a human dies, he looses his physical body, but his spiritual body is still in Union with the soul.

Spirits have a beginning but no end unlike God who is the primary and eternal spirit.

It would be good if this thread is subjected to natural laws and principles as against religions tenets.
I had done that earlier in this thread.
I have described that a human being is like a computer or an advanced AI robot with two components
1. A Hardware (the Body)
The tangible/physical part of man which consist of the Brain, Nervous System, Sensory Organs etc
2. The Software (the Soul)
The intangible nonphysical part of man which has three main attributes of the Will, Emotion and Intellect.

The parallels are remarkably similar.

Buda does not object that it seems that the man's body is controlled by a kind of software BUT he calls it the MIND (rather than the soul). He believes that the Mind is an integral part of the Brain. Unfortunately, I used examples of several activities of living beings that are not mind defined such as INTUITION and INSTINCTS (both are not controlled by the mind) they are preprogrammed behaviours.

He claims to follow Christ, hence my use of the scripture to help him refocus on the truth.

The entire you, body and mind and soul etc, can be killed by man, TenQ. They killed Jesus, but see how fruits he sowed live on and produce fruit a thousandfold.

What Jesus is teaching you is be bold and not worry about your body or your mind or your soul, just like he didn't and died for you, which I personally see as bad advice, for each should bear their own cross and die for their own cause.
Why is it that God seems to be able to do what man cannot do with respect to killing the body and mind? Jesus emphatically said that man CANNOT kill the Soul : at least you agree that men can destroy the mind.

Mat 10:28:

1. None of this explains the animal sacrifices of the old testament and
2. The concept of an innocent party paying with his life for the sins of guilty parties hardly seems just.

Balancing the scales of justice requires appropriate reciprocal consequences to those persons who deserve them. The idea that anyone can step in and "buy-out" the punishment is a commercial concept which should be alien to true justice, especially justice of a divine nature. Not only is this "buy-out" concept mercantile in nature, it is also intrinsically pagan and thus as far away from the purity of divine justice as can be imagined.

This is aside from the fact that the said sacrifice of Christ is questionable as a sacrifice. Because to lay down a life that you know for sure you are picking up again three days later is a much better deal than any other mortal has.
You copied out just the conclusion and concluded that it didn't make sense.

Speaking about appropriate punishment
The Creator of Everything gave you an instruction and you blatantly refused, what do you think should be the punishment?
Is it a Limited punishment or a Extraordinary Punishment?

Read again the concept of the SCAPEGOAT. The scapegoat is one who serves the punishment due to the whole class. If God chose a scapegoat instead of you, should you not be grateful? Now God did not choose a human being to be a Scapegoat even though a human being was the guilty one, should humans not be grateful? The innocent life in the old testament is an animal NOT a human being.

The purpose of the sacrifice of Christ are
1. Animals are not in the same class with humans this cannot be a suitable equivalent scapegoat.
2. No single human being is perfect enough to be a Scapegoat for another human being because he himself need atonement. Hence the need of a sinless person who can become the scapegoat: Christ Jesus.
3. The solution of God is an infinitely great (perhaps too expensive) substitute: Himself (because of Love)
4. What was required as an evidence of payment is NOT life but the BLOOD!
Rev 1:5:
"And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, "

Finally, the concept of the scapegoat came from the OLD Testament and NOT from pagan origin. Lev16:1-26

I do comprehend it, TenQ. You are saying that your mind is a subset of your soul, which consists of the Faculty of your WILL, EMOTION and INTELLECT.

Now, do you comprehend that my mind is where my own intellect resides, and my mind controls my WILL and EMOTION, and that what you call soul, has no part to play at all?

I answered your question. Instinct is what rules over the animal.

And that is you, subjecting your "Soul to the knowledge of God's words and God's will so that your Soul acquires WISDOM to rule your body", while I wilfully direct my own mind to the deliberate acquisition of knowledge from all sources so that I may understand and acquire Wisdom to rule my body and all by myself instead of leaving it to some soul of mine.

We do not have to be the same, TenQ. Your soul acquires Wisdom to rule you, while I learn with my mind to rule myself. It might explain why you are wiser than me.
Instinct is an unlearned knowing/knowledge of a living being. Both humans and animals have some basic instincts.

Most carnivorous animals have to learn to hunt for food, whereas animals like reptiles have the instinct to hunt for food.

Doesn't instinct look like programming to you (since they are not learnt).
1. Are Instincts a product of the mind?
2. If the mind is just an attribute of the brain, where does the unlearned knowledge in instinct come from? (Does instinct originate from the brain?)

My Soul (through my WILL, EMOTION and INTELLECT (mind)) rule my Body.
I subject my Soul to the knowledge of God's words and God's will so that my Soul acquires WISDOM to rule my body. This make me direct my WILL, EMOTION and INTELLECT to rule my Body excellently

OK Jamesid29,
Away from all the technicality of language and wayizbahs and Josiahs and Jephtahs and what not.
What is your own take on the concept of a transcendental omnipotent God requiring any kind of propitiatory sacrifice for sins - be it the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament or the alleged sacrifice of Christ of the New Testament.
I think the major problem is NOT understanding the weight and seriousness of sin.

What do you think should be the punishment for rebellion or blatant disobedience to the CREATOR of Everything?

Just as there are Physical laws (gravity, electromagnet, entropy etc), there are biological laws (reproduction, mutation, aging etc), social laws, etc, there is also spiritual laws one of which is "the law of sin and death".

The law of sin and death prescribes DEATH (severance) from the SOURCE of EVERYTHING who is God Himself.

We own our Body and we own our Soul but we do not own our Spirit. Our spirit is God's. When we soil our spirit with sin, we more or less soil God with blemish hence if God would remain perfect, such tainted spirit is severed eternally from God.

But, there is a CLAUSE
John 3:16:
"For God so loved the world, ...

This necessitated God Himself to prescribe a workaround to this law of sin and death without violating His attribute of being Just.

To free the "loved" person from the judgement of his CRIME against God, someone MUST pay the debt with his Life

The concept of the SCAPEGOAT is well evident in the scripture.

Please check this scripture:
Lev 16:7-10,16-18,21-22: "And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And Aaron shall cast lots on the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. And Aaron shall bring the goat on which the LORD's lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering. But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness. … And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remains among them in the middle of their uncleanness. And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goes in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel. And he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar round about. … And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: And the goat shall bear on him all their iniquities to a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness."
1. The children of Israel sinned
2. God's prescription is a SUBSTITUTE for the punishment
3. This sacrifice is done ONCE a YEAR for the sin of Israel.

NOTE: This is God's own SOLUTION for the PROBLEM of SIN in Man.

To the New Testament:

Heb 9:12:
"Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us."

Heb 10:4:
"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins."

The Blood of Animals is an antitype pointing to the time when the LAMB of God will once and for all take away the sins of the world.
John 1:29:
"The next day John sees Jesus coming to him, and said, Behold the Lamb of God , which takes away the sin of the world."

Jesus Himself explained it like this:

Only those who accept God's solution and prescription for the problem of sin gets SAVED.

John 3:14-15:
"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."

Conclusion:
Why does God require Blood/Life as sacrifice for SIN?
Because sin MUST be punished (no escape for that)!

It certainly was not righteousness, it was ignorance.
Why?
1. The proposal of Jephthah was stupid in its own sense.
Who does Jephthah will come out from his door to greet him? A dog, a cow, a slave or her daughter?
2. The Bible recorded what actually happened as a historical record. Jephthah was not commanded to do such but that was what he did. God did not validate what Jephthah did in any way.
3. It was a time of gross ignorance in Israel. Everyone did as he thinks!

Why was it recorded?

'I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall
and stand in the gap before Me for [the sake of] the land, that I would not destroy it,
but I found no one [not even one].
'

This is a very good worded sentence and done expressed so as to wring out information, loll

Phrase words first to be familiar with are: template/die/prototype/archetype/blueprint/exemplar/first model/original etc, then leader, example.

Next will be, to acknowledge that, sin, coming from a bible perspective, Jewish in particular, is a concept that has to do with missing a mark, coming off target, essentially falling short of God's standard, essentially, if said in layman terms, then a fault, defect, glitch, irregularity, crookedness or flaw.

Following will also be, to acknowledge that, the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament were temporaries, precursors of the sacrifice of Christ, of the New Testament, so to speak, who coincidentally is God Incarnate, that's meaning, God personified in human being flesh, i.e. God in human being body or flesh, loll

As for the, aforementioned 'template/die/prototype/archetype/blueprint/exemplar/first model/original etc', we see them in Manufacturing processes, Computing softwares, Biochemistry etc. Take for example, minting coins, requires using a die. Creating word documents requires, to start with, using a normal.dot template. Even, we all, as human beings, are archetypes of Adam and Eve. Nearly all living organisms have their genetics encoded in their DNA

Now, what is going to be the optimum correction, if something should go wrong (e.g. in terms, of a fault, defect, glitch, irregularity, crookedness, flaw, blemish, blotch, streak, wrinkle, kink etc) with an actual 'template/die/prototype/archetype/blueprint/exemplar/first model/original etc'?

The Body is craving for Sex, but the Mind/Soul tells the Body "Dont, this sex can destroy you"
The Mind/Soul desires to Party, the Body is instructed to Dress up and go to the party

2. The Body is Weaker than the Mind.
The body is actually very dumb
Of course except when the errand from the Mind/Soul is beyond the capability of the Body, the Body ALWAYS complies.
3. The Body only excels in what is AUTOMATICALLY programmed for it to do
Examples:
Breathing, Reception of Sensory Perceptions (Pain, Pleasure, Itches etc)
The Body is actually more or less a dumb brute
4. The Mind/Soul major assignment is to Preserve the Body and Enjoy itself in the process.
The mind/Soul succeeds or fail at this depending on how matured it has become over time through the Knowledge, Experience and Deductions it has made over time.
This is why a drug addict usually fail because his mind/soul is weak and immature.

Because of this: the scripture compels us to RENEW our Mind through God's words

Romans 12:2
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

NOTE:
The difference betweens Humans and Animals is simply that
1. Animals obey their mind/soul in all things in its primary duty of pleasure and preservation
2. Humans also have their CONSCIENCE that moderates how their mind functions in its primary duty of pleasure and preservation

Most of the humans laws are formulated from the Reason-Conscience aspect of mind/soul/spirit

In summary, the more ENLIGHTENED (Educated), STRONG and TRAINED our mind/soul is, the more Cultured our Bodies appear in the Society.

Says the one who came into my thread. Dude if you aren't going to bother to read to understand you are a waste of my time.
Your thread?
Ask seun about that!

In not a single place have you said the relationship between the MIND and the BODY! You have only critiqued what others said.

Are you afraid?

I don't see why I should do any more than dispute what you think about a thing I see no evidence for its existence. And if you really do intend to learn you'd see I've not only disputed it but given you something to think about.
You see no evidence that the mind exist?!! Don't be an escapist!
I didn't ask you questions relating to the soul: I asked you about the mind-body interaction...break it down in a relatable way. QED!

TenQ:
If your knowledge ends with disputing what others think, you have achieved NOTHING (zero knowledge) except you can show how your position brings better understanding of its workings.

In other words, speak about your own knowledge of the Mind and Body relationship. Go deeper in its comprehension and COMMUNICATE such to others in a comprehensible format.

It is never enough to tear down other comprehension without proposing your own.

We are all hear to learn!

You are just a waste of time. The very first page has what you want but you are too lazy to read it, not going to indulge your laziness.
That's why a simple question about what you think about mind-body interaction has escaped you.

I guess it just dawned on you that you've got nothing articulated to present as your position not to talk of defending it.

Since you are blank, stop wasting any more precious time.

Read my posts in this thread.
Nothing except ramblings.
What is your position?

Probably only you know: at least you know mine.

The Soul is analogous to the software of a computer that powers the Body. Just like a Software in intangible (immaterial), the soul is immaterial.

See how easy that is!?
Simple, Understandable, Concise and Relatable.

I don't have to ask you to read 30 pages to present my views.

What is your view?
Can it stand any form of scrutiny?
