I think there is a competion of Power btw the U.S and the Russians. The U.S are in control of the Western countries while the Russians are in control or trying to be in control of the Eastern countries. The U.S who are in control of the Western countries also want to be in control of the Eastern countries by taking Ukraine who is an Eastern country, Putin says, no way. I'm suppose to be in control or the leader of the Eastern country. Therefore, u Ukrainians, u mustn't join them. What even aggrivate Putin was the Millitary base/ millitary camp the U.S and NATO wanted to establish in Ukraine.

Russia had been like a bad boyfriend to Ukraine.
1. Russia took over all the nuclear arsenal in Ukraine
2. Then RUSSIA they installed their puppet president in Ukraine
3. When Ukrainians protested the bad deals the puppet president was making at the detriment of Ukraine they protested and removed him
4. Russia angrily seized Crimea from Ukraine
5. Russia then began to sponsor separatists in Ukraine

Do you think at this time Ukraine needs protection?
Who has consistently shown that it is an enemy of Ukraine?

If Russia had acted as a friend to Ukraine, their request to join NATO would never have come up.

Cuba is a socialist country very near USA. There was a crises in in 1962 when USA moved some of their missiles to Italy. The Soviet Union retaliated by moving some of their missiles also to Cuba and it nearly resulted into a WW3.
After the doctrine of mutual assured destruction was considered by both parties, they BOTH quietly removed their missiles and peace was restored.

One of the cardinal point for any country joining NATO is not having ANY territorial conflict. Ukraine could not have needed NATO to squash down separatist movements.

Ukraine took to looking at EU and NATO because
1. Russia seized Crimea from them
2. Russia took away ALL their nuclear asenal
3. Russian installed a puppet president on Ukraine
4. Russia sponsored the two separatist regions to demand independence

Donetsk and Lugansk are not 100% russian speaking. There are sizable populations of Ukrainians there as their primary place of birth.

Russia had two alternatives
1. Make military alliance with Argentina, Cuba etc
The only condition of withdrawing is if NATO permanently rejects Ukraine from membership.
2. Promise to invade Ukraine on the day Ukraine signs any agreement with NATO.

Unfortunately, Russia will pay many years of reparation to Ukraine before sanctions is lifted.
