Health › Re: First Nigerian Ebola Survivor Not Treated With "Nano Silver" - Health Minister by texazzpete(m): 8:50am On Aug 17, 2014
aggiel: We Nigerians should know our people better, the press are the No. 1 people u shouldn't disclose all information. Let's look at it from one angle, the Nano-silver came into the country on Thursday, American Govt ruled against using such drug, and still remained hell bent there were not gonna send Nigeria the Zmap drug, even when they sent doses to Liberia and Guinea and even promised Ghana to be there for them in case of any outbreak. Whatever the Nigerian Govt did to the American Govt, Na only God know, but as u all know there is God in everything we do.

Miraculously between Thursday and Saturday, one of the patient was said to have recuperated excellently, my dear do u need more information again as to wat was responsible for her quick recovery, desperate situations requires desperate measures. Our God is a God of wonders, he opened the eyes of the Nigerian Scientist who resides in America and revealed to him to send Nano to his beloved people in Nigeria before extremely large fatalities occur, and been a wise man he discreetly sends the cure to Nigeria, because he doesn't want the American Govt to send him to life imprisonment for spoiling their market.

Abeg we don't think we need any more information, before the end of this week, ebola would have been a forgotten story in Nigeria, all the patients would have fully recovered. Whatever that was used on the female doctor who signed up her life to be used as a test finding should be equally used on the rest.

God bless Nigeria.
For a moment I was chuckling, thinking you were joking or being sarcastic. But to my utter amazement, you're actually serious.

Right decision from the Lagos State Government.

How the hell can you take a nutritional supplement like product and spin it as a 'cure' for Ebola? That's like someone marketing Forever Living supplements and saying its a cure for Ebola.

You see a drug that has never been touted as being under development to treat Ebola, and you want to adopt it when there's no verifiable info that it has ever been tested with any efficacy on mice or even monkeys.

The people celebrating this Nano Silver rubbish are not any bit less dumb than those who were using salt water baths.

The pay-per-post arrangement with the likes of @atlwireless and @sincere9igerian is getting too expensive since those jackasses post too much, even toying epistles of drivel where sometimes silence is required.
Therefore, the FG now exhorts people to do this work for FREE on Social media to cut down expenses.

I'm not a paid hack like you. Nobody on Nairaland can ever accuse me of that. Wasn't it two days ago that I was lambasting Fashola for his neglect of Ejigbo LGA?

I'm a patriot. I love my country. I want my country to be great. I want to leave a strong Nigeria for my kids to inherit. I oppose anyone that is taking action to damage this country. That includes APC, PDP, LP, CNN, Yahoo Yahoo...anyone! My post history can attest to that.

You on the other hand leave absolutely no doubt that you're an induced mercenary. Either you're paid in cash or kind, nobody can be that stupid to blindly support ALL senseless policies from this administration. At least nobody can, with all clear conscience.

In other words, you're a modern day Esau. Congrats, you'll explain to your own kids your role in the Nigerian project. For now, care to tell us what the 'porridge' (that you're selling your conscience for) is?

Ms Ogar noted that there has been no bombings since the apc won in Edo and Osun elections.
She said that “we had provided security for Edo and at the end of that election, permit me to say, there was no bomb blast.
“We moved to Ondo and the Labour Party won in Ondo, there was bomb blast. We moved to Anambra; APGA won in Anambra and there was a bomb blast”. She said
She however noted that when they “moved to Ekiti and PDP won in Ekiti, there was a bomb blast” and “thank God we were able to deploy appropriately (in Osun), the results came out, the APC have won and thank God there was no bomb blast”.
Asked if she was insinuating that the opposition party was responsible for the bombings, the DSS spokesperson noted that “we should thank God that since after the Osun elections, there has been no bombings” warning that “it doesn’t mean that there should be a bomb blast after i leave the (channels tv Abuja) studio”.
Did she really say this? On live TV?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! This is a banana republic cheesy

Now I know why the likes of @atlwireless that have no ounce of self-pride, no dignity can easily accept a job description of being a paid-per-post propaganda and FUD spreader on Nairaland.

Politics › Re: Nurses Drive Away Suspected Ebola Patient In Lagos by texazzpete(m): 4:11pm On Aug 13, 2014
Jakumo: Oh yes absolutely, indeed I am defending the quick-thinking nurses in that hospital for rejecting a patient showing signs of what COULD be an advanced and EXTREMELY infectious case of Ebola viral infection. Allowing that patient unrestricted access to any hospital facility that is NOT specially equipped to contain the Ebola virus COULD spread the illness to EVERY PERSON present at the time of admission, along with ALL who unwittingly touch door handles and other surfaces that may have been touched by the Ebola victim within the hospital building.

The Lagos hospital that WISELY rejected a suspected Ebola case was evidently no better equipped to handle such a virulent contagion than would be a plumbing contractor to perform brain surgery. The woman with the alarming symptoms frightened the bejeebers out of the hospital staff that spotted her coming in, and they acted fast, in the fundamentally human spirit of self-preservation, that must ALWAYS take precedence over the opinions of distant observers brimming with advisory nuggets of 20-20 hindsight.
It's a contagious disease. Nobody is asking the nurses to tell her to roll into the beddings for other patients. If you send her away and as she moves off, she infects 10 other people, isn't the risk spreading exponentially?

the report says the woman was bleeding. If she really had Ebola, ALL her body fluids now are very infectious. On the way to the isolation building, she can leave behind enough infectious material to afflict many others.

Nurse could have asked the patient to go and sit down in an isolated corner of the parking lot, for example, then called the emergency hot line for immediate evacuation.

On the other hand, though, it's not hard to sympathize with the nurses and doctors. Just hearing that a bleeding patient walked near the reception of the hospital is probably enough to make half of their clientele vanish for good. I tell you, if someone dies of Ebola in Eko Hotel, they will be begging people to come and stay there at 20k per night in the next 6 months.

Initialize over at the Tech Market is selling Xiaomi Mi3 for 53k. COmes with a Snapdragon 800 chipset which is MUCH more powerful than the Octacore MTK SoC in this Tecno...and with Xiaomi you're guaranteed software updates.

In fact, the Xiaomi CEO just confirmed Android L is coming. You'll never get that on a Tecno.

Only sane reason to get the Z over the Mi3 is if you absolutely need dual SIM. If not, it's not even a close contest.

I don't have the money now though, but how much will THL 5000 with your added accessories need to run to Uyo, Akwa Ibom? Please list the accessories you'll include. 2ndly, if I buy two units of THL 5000, will you give me discount?
It's an easy decision. Get the Xiaomi. They are the only one out of that list that will guarantee you software upgrades.

At least, Xiaomi outsells every single one of the others combined, so the community for Xiaomi phones is MUCH larger, so custom ROM support is better.

Back on topic, this just shows how misguided the FG is...always trying to do nothing yet get the right newspaper headlines. The FG KNOWS that Mapp Pharma is a private company and not owned by the US Government. Instead of directly contacting Mapp and agreeing payment terms, they will release press statement that they have 'appealed to President Obama'.

Kudos to Liberia for finding a way to negotiate with the drug maker. I hope they understand the risks, though. It's a win-win situation for Mapp, basically getting free human trials.

saxywale: Picanto is not superior to the i10. It's actually the other way round.. That is if the parts that make up the assembled i10's are same as the imported ones by stallion.
With 200k less in price, then it's a better deal than the Kia.
Verdict (not my opinion)
With so much in common, there’s little to choose between these two models – but the flagship versions highlight major differences. The new Picanto is a big improvement over its predecessor; distinctive looks and a high-quality cabin make it a real force to be reckoned with in the city car class again. It also comes loaded with big-car kit, albeit at a hefty price – for the cost of the top-spec Picanto 3, you could buy a bona fide supermini instead. In contrast, the Hyundai plays to its strengths, mixing a spacious and well appointed interior with strong performance, tidy handling and very attractive prices. As a result, the i10 pulls off a narrow win, but the margin of victory is small. Lesser versions of the two cars are even more closely matched – and, on this evidence, buyers won’t feel disappointed by either of our contenders.

If you’re willing to spend a little more, the Hyundai i10 is the better option. Not only does it trump the Picanto on engine performance, but it wins out in terms of build quality and manoeuvrability.
http://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/Hyundai-i10-vs-Kia-Picanto-937
Hmm. Reviews seem to vary, but you're right, the Hyundai seems evenly matched in price with the Picanto.

Still, my concerns remain on the discount provided. 200k difference with an imported car that's usually in the same price range doesn't seem that big... And I'm pretty sure 1.6 million naira is right about the same price range the i10 has always been sold at.

I'll look further into this.

I challenge any of these paid agents to tell me how Pastor Ayo's 'intervention' has saved any life in this current crisis. What - apart from Newspaper and media soundbites - has it achieved?

He can save many lives by speaking up against corruption, so the devils in human form that steal and rob from the masses will allow the wealth trickle down to keep many many more people alive and well. But of course, he keeps quiet!

Leave Mr Oritsejafor out of this, this is supposed to be a conference of dialogue not for a voice of intolerance to ring out. I suggest he prepare some fiery sermons against the corrupt in our society if he wants to make a difference.

I just read this topic

https://www.nairaland.com/1852075/made-in-nigeria-hyundai-cars-hit-market

Basically, Stallion motors is claiming that their first range of made in Naija cars are available for sale. Starting at N1.6 million for the Hyundai i10.

Now, we all know the local manufacturers are seriously encouraged with steep discounts in import duties, tax rebates etc. And one of the oft repeated claims of the Administration is that locally made cars will naturally be more affordable as cost savings will be passed on to the consumer.

So why is the locally assembled i10 sold for just 200k less* than the imported Kia Picanto, which is a superior vehicle to the i10 in every way?

I'm tired of this subterfuge. Let's see complete price regimes for the vehicles they've told us have been rolling off the assembly lines. A month ago, they said the first Nissan Patrol cars were rolling off the assembly lines. Why haven't we heard anything about the prices yet?

*Kia motors Facebook account has the Picanto on sale starting at N1.8 million.

crunchyg: The just concluded Sallah celebration was marred in the state as female suicide bombers struck at five different locations. About 30 persons lost their lives to the female suicide bombers who were believed to be less than 20 years old.

A security source told our correspondent that the plan of the insurgents was to continue using the female suicide bombers to unleash terror on people of the state. The source added that when interrogated, the suspect disclosed that he brought the bombers from Sambisa forest in Borno State.

“He is still being held and interrogated by the JTF  and he is cooperating with the force by divulging vital information about their new strategy of using teenage girls for suicide bombings. I don’t know the exact number of the girls because one of my colleagues who participated in the operation said 13 while the other one said 16,” he said.

A top security source confirmed the arrest but added, “You know we have carried out many recent successful operations recent. I will not like to say much on this latest operation.”

Spokesperson of the JTF in Kano, Captain Ikechukwu Eze, confirmed an operation in Dala local government area.

“There was an operation in Dala where one Ibrahim Ibrahim was arrested alongside some persons. Investigation is still on,” he said in a phone interview.

Are you not tired of sending your own troops to die all the time?
You think it's cool that anytime the AU or ECOWAS wants to intervene in any crisis, Nigerian troops make up the bulk of the cannon fodder and hence the casualties?

This serves multiple purposes. First, it reduces the burden on Nigeria if other countries can be better equipped to step up to the plate. Secondly, the US is constrained from supporting Armies that have such poor human rights record like ours.

Eating bush meat infected with the virus would likely see you infected, but it's pretty rare for this to happen. All advisory to refrain from eating bush meat is just a precaution, nothing more.

I wasn't aware that the Lagos State Government, the Lagos state commisioner for health and even the Liberian Presidency have been telling us anything about the Chibok girls. Please elaborate on that.

Also worth noting that a consultant clinic is shut down indefinitely for quarantine over the Sawyer treatment. The hospital reputation has suffered a great deal because of the Ebola Stigma. Perhaps - in your opinion - they too are part of this conspiracy and are deliberately losing tens of millions of Naira revenue, if not hundreds of millions of Naira?
