virgo: Ok, yet another "low tech" invention, made for Africa and only for Africans. Thank you Massa.
The tragic thing is, you have no idea how m0r0nic you truly are.

As a poster above said, Someone saw a problem and came forward with a solution. I don't see what brainless dolts like yourself are doing. As it stands, people in his target market are extremely happy with the low cost vehicle.

Sometimes i think attitudes like these are Freudian slips and most likely stem from low self esteem.

pato405: does anyone wonder if they ever come down to Africa to grasp an understanding of 'Africa' before manufacturing whatever contraption they conceptualise or is it just me.
No. What i wonder is which school did you go to and if you can obtain a refund for your deficient 'education'. Even a well honed SS3 student would see the part where the manufacturer says he gets a lot of local interest and inquiries as to where the vehicles can be purchased. Does that not signify and understanding of his target market?

There are a billion and one luxury vehicle showrooms in Africa. You m0r0ns fail to understand that hundreds of millions of Africans cannot afford many of these vehicles...so cheaper and functional alternatives are a boon to the poor populace.

Perhaps you also get angry that cheap chinese phones and $40 Nokia phones are being bought by tens of millions of poor Africans instead of your beloved Blackberries and iPhones?

rhymz: @Katsumoto
I have always stated that no matter what revionists like yourself read and write about the war, it can never be as authentic or nearer to the truth as some of the accounts given by Ojukwu himself about the war.
When one chooses to view issues with preconcieved conclusions and goes ahead to strengthen their stance by reading books on the war by authors whose views are bias, articles by propagandist, and distorted third party accounts from your likes.
One thing you can not fault Ojukwu on is the fact that unlike many of the officers of his time, he was the most educated and erudite with prolly the best ability to vividly tell the real story and reasons for the war.
I shall post some of his responses to questions posed to him by a reporter that
he exclusively granted an interview; the questions ranged from facts, distortions that have become some people's truth, suggestive statements in the mould of facts, rude embelishments, outright propagander down to the ridiculous. Ojukwu being a man of sound mind and judgement did not fail to nip it in the bud....anyway, enuf gisting....make I get down to bizness.....
So..to counter sound arguments from katsumoto, you reach for words from Ojukwu?

<sarcasm> Because, as we all know his opinions can be taken as FACTS and 100% free from bias </sarcasm>

What next? We ask Charles Taylor for the 'truth' of what happened in the Liberian Civil war and document his words as facts?

Truly, i am extremely unimpressed with the dearth of brainpower you folks have put into your responses to Katsumoto's assertions.

My friendly advice to you is to stay out of this while Dede1, ACM and bashr8 tarnish their reputations with their feeble defences. Flee now and fight Katsumoto another day! grin

I want to prevent even one Igbo from having even one piece to eat before their capitulation. We shoot at everything that moves and when our troops march into the center of Igbo territory, we shoot at everything even a things that don’t move”—Benjamin Adekunle

During World War 2, the British general in charge of Singapore surrendered the city to the Japanese to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of civillians living in the city, a large number of which would have perished in the final assault by the Japanese.

gbadexy: @ da infamous,
You are very correct. According to the article, the evacuated northern soldiers on their way to lagos through kaduna even killed 3 igbo officers who boarded the train at kaduna and beheaded them. The attack was led by lieutenant shehu yaradua. Benjamin adekunle was reportedly stabbed by yaradua with a boyanet for allowing the easterners to board the train and protesting against attacking them.
If nothing else, the article, corroborated by the actors and even the opposing sides opened my eyes to the fact that the northerners are very united and no matter how close you get to them, they won't hesitate to kill you if you are not from the north. Ironsi was betrayed by the northern soldiers he most trusted, major danjuma only had to walk up to the commander of the northern guard to explain his mission before the northerners who were amongst the guard overpowered the southerners and instead turn into Ironsi's captor. A col okoro at kaduna was set up by his trusted second in command who he had exacted promise of loyalty from despite advice from madiebo to evacuate the city.
...I can imagine a hausa man saying similar stories about betrayals when talking about how Kaduna Nzeogwu and his largely Igbo cohorts cheerfully murdered Tafawa Balewa. Maimalari, Largema, Pam, Okotie-Eboh, Ademulegun...all shot and killed by people they trusted.

Hell, here's an account by Ademulegun's daughter of how Nzeogwu killed her pregnant mum, despite him being a regular visitor to their house to eat hot pounded yam.

http://nm.onlinenigeria.com/templates/?a=7109

Major Nzeogwu was a welcome guest in my parents’ home. He will always come to our house for steaming hot meal of pounded yam. Being Ondo State indigenes, pounded yam was a regular meal in my mother’s kitchen. On the day of the coup, Nzeogwu came calling with some other soldiers in the wee hours of the day. I think they were about six soldiers. As an impressionable young girl of six, that was quite a number. There were guns everywhere. I remember vividly that I was down with chicken pox, so I had the opportunity of sleeping in my parents’ room. My immediate younger brother was also sleeping soundly in a cot in the same room. But when Nzeogwu came in, there was little talking. I even called him uncle, but he was the one that shot my mother in the chest. She didn’t die immediately, but she was rolling on the floor, gasping and bleeding.

So when you talk about 'betrayal' and try to pin it on one tribe, remember that those in glass houses should NEVER throw stones...and that there are devils amongst every one of us.

Why don't you folks just pay for a full 24/7 data bundle on your Android and stop complaining?

Airtel and Etisalat are around N8k per month for 8GB data bundle, and you get to use your android device as a portable hotspot.

The advantages of using an Android phone can easily outweigh the extra 5k per month you spend on your data...and you can share it with other devices.

Of course, RIM still has the BBM as the 800lb gorilla in the room. developing countries LOVE BBM.

But please, people should not come here to sell the idea of Blackberries being cutting edge technology. Their relatively archaic OS and stale hardware is the reason why RIM is dying today.

While on paper the GS II and GS III share the 'Mali 400' GPU, the version on the GS III is clocked way higher and is built using a 32nm process (against the 45nm process in the GS II). The performance delta between both devices is rather large.

Despite the overhyped 'battery saving feature' of Tegra 3, chipsets like Snapdragon S4 in the US HTC One X and the quad Core Exynos 4412 in the GS 3 are built on a smaller 32nm process and have more power saving features built it. The Tegra 3 HTC One X has a much lower battery life than the dual core S4 edition.

IMHO, Tegra 3 is a great disappointment considering the hype and Nvidia's pedigree.

The man served as a deputy governor, governor, vice president and president before you voted for him again. His previous performance should have given you the opportunity to access him and decide. PhysicsQED: Texazzpete,

I know you're fond of delivering insults to other posters when making your points grin, so I'll just overlook that as a character flaw and hope you improve in the future rather than lashing back in a similar manner.

All I'll say to you is that your last few sentences in this post give you away as somebody who - like the clueless professor of political criticism who made his name doing nothing but criticizing - sometimes can't be bothered to verify your "facts". GEJ declared his assets as president of Nigeria in 2010. End of.
LMAO. No, i usually deliver insults to m0r0ns. But we both know you aren't one. I didn't really go beyond the 'dumbass' word you used to describe the eminent professor. I'm sure when you have time for private reflection you'll see how ill chosen that word was.

Either way, if GEJ insists he has not and will not declare his assets, what else am i supposed to verify?

Unless of course you're insinuating and insisting that your President lied to the nation during his Media chat and in such a way that can be easily refuted by a search of 2010 Newspapers. In that case, you'll be proving the Professor's point that your president is not exactly the brightest bulb in the closet grin

As for your 'doing nothing but criticizing' statement, what else, really, is expected of a common man but to pay his taxes and obey all laws of the land? Does any man who do these things faithfully not have the right to criticize unmercifully if his leaders do not hold up their side of the bargain?

Harsh words aside, it is not very wise to focus ALL your ire on the Professor for just ONE point you disagree with. While I respect you as an intelligent poster on Nairaland, I am more wary these days...I used to defend Reuben Abati tooth and nail on this forum as the very essence of a patriotic Nigerian who spoke the truth to his Government.

Politics › Re: GEJ Is A Joke & Clueless - Ghanaian Prof. Ayittey by texazzpete(m): 6:57am On Jun 26, 2012
PhysicsQED: I'm sorry but this Professor is just a dullard dressed up in fancy clothing.

He actually suggested that GEJ should drive into Borno state (to do WHAT?!) because terror attacks were going on there, rather than conferring with state officials and security advisers and officials at a safer place. I don't see the value whatsoever of going in there, but apparently GEJ actually thinks his presence there will show he is serious (or whatever other misguided and sentimental rationale reason would motivate going in there) about tackling Boko Haram so he was actually considering going there.

The professor then asked why the Maiduguri airport was not functioning at the time.

Let's backtrack to September of 2011. This is one story about the Maiduguri airport from that time:

"The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has assured that the Maiduguri airport, which was shut down for renovation some months back, is ready for use during this year's hajj operation.

The NCAA disclosed this yesterday when the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, visited the airport to assess the progress of work.

NCAA director in the state, Alhaji Haruna Lawal who conducted the governor round the facilities, said the airport was actually ready for use, and that the management was only waiting for approval from the NCAA authorities and aviation officials who were expected to inspect the renovation before the airport was officially re-opened

He, however, noted the airport would need a 25 KVA generator to power the radar facilities and assured the governor that the painting of the runway would take only few days to complete.

Operations at the airport were suspended late June following cracks on the runway.

He disclosed that the maiden airlift of intending pilgrims for the 2011 Hajj exercise was scheduled for the first week of October.

Kashim, in his response, announced the donation of a 27 KVA generator and N1 million for diesel. He also directed the state fire service to release an operational vehicle manned by its personnel to the airport to boost safety readiness.

The governor also asked the ministry of works to release five tractors for the clearing of the airport even as he directed the commissioner in the ministry to commence the clearing of the hajj camp in Maiduguri in preparation for the October airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia."

http://allafrica.com/stories/201109140160.html

Note the parts in bold. The airport "not functioning" (as GEJ put it) is a clear indication that it's being closed for repairs at the time he was referring to, NOT an admission or claim that the airport is completely broken down and unable to be used. I don't know if it was in 2011 when GEJ was considering going to Borno or in the last few months, but obviously that airport has issues and needs to be fixed and inspected before anybody uses it. How hard is it to try and actually think about what is being said instead of rushing foolishly to criticize in an effort to look smart? Is GEJ supposed to use a CLOSED airport that's being repaired?

Ghanaians are fine, foreign criticism is fine, criticism in general is useful, but i don't like pretentious dumbasses.
Hmm
Between an internationally respected Professor of repute and you, I think we know who most people would pick as the dumbass, to be honest.

Picking just ONE point to post this epistle is not worthy of the intelligence most people here used to associate with you. Have you been compromised too, that you readily abdicate common sense?

You make assumptions that are not guaranteed to be factual. Even more bizarre is your insistence that GEJ has declared his assets - even when the man himself admits he has not done so and will not do so. Strange.

Don't make me change my mind. Tomorrow'sthe day I know which of the 2 I'm getting tomorrow. I'm swayed by the option of expandable memory and removable battery. My growing movie collection of mostly 1gb+ would fill out in no time. A 1800mah vs 2000mah...hmm. At any given time, I'll like to use my phone also as an entertainment hub with games, music and movies with tv out option. Use it as a personal computer through mhl-hdmi combo on my tv using wireless keyboard.

The HTC one x has an edge for me especially in lieu of her 60fps video option. Though there is a new camera mod by hyper x for the S3 giving you a far superior camera upgrade with increased mbits translating to superior sound and video quality. Later updates promise slow mo video.

Tegra 3 don't mean nothing. Download chainfire 3D and you get same effects on tegra 3 devices.

Lastly those phones are MASSIVE!
Still I don't know which to go for yet...smh
I don't really care about any video recording mods. How often do i really shoot video anyway, compared to camera shots in mid to low light situations?

The GS3 has a much superior battery life to the Tegra 3 HTC One X. HTC really dropped the ball in this regards.

There is no Chainfire 3D plugin for Tegra 3 at the moment...only Tegra 2. There is now no way to play any Tegra 3 game on a non Tegra device.

You'll get used to the size after a short while.

Perhaps you should go for the GS 3 because of the battery life. and it'll be the most popular (and hence most supported) Android phone this year.

and u know most of these reviewers are paid top dollars to hype the thing, not that it needs hyping anyway.
From what I've heard and seen, the phone is good and its the best out there for now grin[/quote]I had a HTC One X, traded it for the Galaxy S III. What the reviews don't tell you is that

1) Camera on One X is better in most use cases. One X has a bigger sensor and so had measurably better low light performance. That simply means that indoor shots, the One X beats the GS III. Outdoor they are pretty much neck-and-neck but i do most of my shooting indoors anyway.

2) One X looks better than the GS3

3) One X has a FAR better screen. I read all the reviews talking about the One X having a slightly better screen. Crap. Who cares about deeper blacks on the SUPER AMOLED + when the Whites still have the bluish Amoled tint? If you place a One X screen and the GS III side by side, I assure you you'll see the difference. The One X is also FAR brighter than the GS III...several reviewers DID mention it though.

The GS III is the most powerful phone out there, but in real world use you'd be hard pressed to see the difference. Both are very snappy and both should be forward compatible for years. Despite the more powerful GPU in the GS III, games on the One X will look better because Nvidia pays devs to add some extra details in its TegraZone market...the GS III will run just the normal versions.

Bottom line is, I'm fairly ok with the switch i made (if only for the expansion potential). Also the fact that the GS III will easily outsell the One X means that this will be the development platform of choice for custom ROM chefs and Emulators. However, anyone with the HTC One X should NEVER feel he/she has the inferior device. That just isn't true. If you look beyond the hype, all round the GS III isn't a much better phone than the One X.

The same pple like u will castigate the man!
Believe it or not, we expect the President to multi-task even during this Boko Haram menace. Money has been allocated to all sectors in the last budget passed. I do not expect GEJ to use Boko Haram as an excuse for underperformance and failure to keep his pre-election campaign. Nobody will castigate the President for declaring his asset now and you know this. Why spread FUD?

We want to know what our leaders and public servants go in with...so we can benchmark when they come out and have a rough idea how much they've enriched themselves with our state funds.

For example a few years ago Tompolo was a millitant leader with no visible legal source of income. Now he's able to make payments of $150 million to secure a ludicrously cheap Waterways security contract. How did that happen?
Only in Nigeria.
