Politics › Re: Insensitivity of Westerners to the plight of blacks using Haiti as an example by texazzpete(m): 6:40pm On Jan 16, 2010
I think the Original poster needs to have a rethink. Since when does the views of a few extremists on Youtube reflect the mindset of the entire western world? All i see on TV is western nations donating aid, materiel and rescue services to haiti. the response of African nations has been much more muted.
I see westerners campaigning for an end to the despoil and murder of women in Congo. How many Nigerian news agencies have even reported on this issue? We see Hollywood stars in darfur, genuinely concerned with easing the suffering of the people there. What sensitivity is displayed by your precious Nollywood stars?

Black people are far more insensitive to the plight of their fellow blacks. First fix the problems in your own race before you begin to cast stones

your entire submission is built on the flawed assumption that Soludo is one of the good guys.
here's a hint: he isn't.

If by changing things it means he's going to be hobnobbing with the thieves like Offor and Anenih, you need to look harder for a messiah.
here's a solution; you dont have to form parties or 'join PDP to outnumber the bad guys'. All you have to do is come out to vote and vote out PDP. Simple as that.

Dclique:
5k?, i doubt. There will never go that low, unless the are desperate to sell. Which they are not.
'desperate'?
In other countries, the modem is given out free, and the carrier makes their money through your monthly subscription. MTN probably pays huawei less than $20 for each modem when bought in bulk.

However, MTN knows that Nigerians are naturally mugus. We are made to pay for things other people get for free. When aim cards were free in south Africa, we were still buying a $1 sim card for N20000. Go find out how much south Africans pay for 3GB of data.

The modem should cost no more than 3k, to be honest. And MTN makes d bulk of d profit from the 10k u drop every month. So even if the modem was free, desperation has nothing to do with it.

Dumbass Pat Robertson - and all you dunces that believe that what happened in Haiti was a curse. You retards will take umbrage if someone calls all Nigerians scammers, yet you're so eager to generalize and clAim that all Haitians are voodoo practitioners.

So what if Haiti is poor while the Dominican republic is rich. Zimbabwe is similarly poor, at least compared to south Africa. Are they devil worshippers too?
Christianity Etc › Re: Haiti's Earth Quake Occured Because Haiti Signed A Pack With The Devil by texazzpete(m): 8:55pm On Jan 15, 2010
There are lots of voodoo practitioners in Haiti. AT the same time, there are a whole lot of Christians in that country. This earthquake killed both faithless and faithful alike. Ascribing this to God is an act of utter foolishness.

If as a Christian you subscribe to this belief that the poor people of Haiti are being punished for the 'sins' committed many years ago, how then does this dovetail into your belief that God is loving and just?

What happened in Haiti is a natural disaster, nothing more. Any attempt to read any 'divine punishment' into this smacks of the sadistic Christianity many of you practice these days.

All these people saying this is a 'normal fundraiser' have got to be kidding me. Since when did any Nigerian politician dole out hundreds of millions of naira without expecting any payback?
Emeka Offor was the godfather that helped enslave Anambra state for four years during the mbadinuju era. Yet see Soludo simpering up to him and others of his ilk. The same man that claimed the era of the godfather is over, he's being feted and sponsored by the most virulent of godfathers.

I must apologize for for tying the 20 signatures to Mutallab's invitation/summon. But i think you have problems with ethics and i think you have a very low self esteem, for being a Nigerian, If not you would have demanded that the US (including the US senate) accord Nigeria and Nigerians some degree of respect, the way it respects other friendly sovereign Nations. It is very disrespectful for the US senate to issue an invitation/summon to a citizens of another sovereign state. There are diplomatic ways of doing things and i do not think Nigeria had refused to cooperate with the US so far. When we need to "invite"  our own citizens who have committed an offense and have taken refuge in the US or UK, they insist we pass through normal channels and not just issue invitations.
Tell me which other country the US senate had ever issued such an invitation.
careful, mon Ami. Your ignorance is beginning to show.
I must again urge you to read the original post. The invitation (not a summon, dimwit) is couched in extremely polite words, andthey make it clear what issues are to be discussed. Also they make it clear that his expenses will be taken up by the state. So what's the 'disrespect' about?
I don't care what you think about my 'esteem as a Nigerian'. I pay my taxes, obey all laws, remain honest and vote. This is more than I can say for the majority of Nigerians. If only you whiners focused your attention on doing all these instead of indulging in this faux patriotism of rhetorics, Nigeria would be a better nation.

As much as i find the attempted bombing unacceptable and unpardonable, we should not get carried away by emotions and press hype.

The senate have no such powers to summon a citizen of a foreign country to answer to it. Can our senate summon any US citizen (especially a prominent one at that). I do not even think the executive has such powers. If they have anything against Mutallab senior, there are proper channels for getting him extradited. If they want to interrogate him, they can only do so through our security agencies here in Nigeria. But i do not blame the US for treating us like poo, when our country is getting close to a banana republic.

So if the 20 senators are able to collect all the other senator's signature, does that mean the Nigerian government is obliged to crate Mutallab senior (Dikko's style) and send him to the US?

Please can someone tell me what Segun Adeniyi is doing in Angola? is it from Angola that we would get press releases (the job he is being paid for) on Yaradua?
the US Senate Invited him, not summoned him. And the 20 signatures being collected Is for another issue unrelated to Mutallab Snr's invitation.
That's clear from the article. Do you have a problem with comprehending written English?
Politics › Re: Although America Failed To Connect The Dots, nigeria Still Paid Dearly For It. by texazzpete(m): 10:01pm On Jan 09, 2010
Nigeria is fast becoming a silly nation of whiners.

You people are just selfish whiners IMHO. Less than 0.1% of nigeria's population will ever make that trip to the US. However a whole lot more people are seriously affected by religious crises in the North. if this addition to the list makes the Nigerian government take the battle against Islamic extremism in tne North seriously, it's a pretty good thing indeed. Even if America failed to connect the dots, there's no reason why Nigeria's casual tolerance of Al Qaeda's encroachment into the North should escape unpunished.

I'd much rather have Wole Soyinka et al strip searched at the airport if it ensures that hundreds or thousands of innocent nigerians do not get killed like dogs anytime one wretched Imam decides to send his followers out.

Tens of posts on Nairaland lamenting our placement on that list. If only you snivelling lot had protested half as vigorously after the numerous crises in Jos, Bauchi, Kano and Kaduna.

m sorry you both got it wrong, Kojima owns the Intellectual property - Metal Gear/ Metal Gear Solid. and not Konami.[/b
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Kojima owns NOTHING of Metal Gear. The metal Gear franchise was created by Kojima while working for Konami. If Kojima leaves, he's on his own.
For example, Tecmo's Team Ninja develops the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. The lead developer and creator of Dead or Alive ([b]Tomonobu Itagaki
) was fired by Tecmo. Guess who retains the rights to DoA? Guess which company is preparing DoA 5 for PS3 and Xbox 360?

Konami allows Kojima to create his own subteam in the organization. So when you see Kojima productions flash on the screen, it means nothing. In the Pro Evolution Soccer series, the lead developer is Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka. That's why you see SEABASS appear on screen in some versions of Winning Eleven.

In both cases, the rights are 100% owned by Konami.

We know very little about Natal. Everything we hear is speculation and people jumping to conclusions. i'd rather we wait until E3 2010 when actual games using this device will be showed off to the feneral public.

I must add that there's nothing wrong with the Nintendo wii. And as one commenter said below, the term 'hardcore gamer' is essentially stupid. The best term to use is 'serious gamer', and a serious gamer will play whatever is in front of him as long as it's fun.

Graphics aren't everything. Guess why many people are still playing World of Warcraft even though it's visually dated by today's standards?

Konami does not make 'mediocre games' as you erroneously claim. They have their share of bad games, but also churn out good games. the metal gear solid series is wholly owned by Konami. if Kojima drops dead tommorrow, the series will continue. Simple as that.

Whatever they use, they are certain to use legally licensed maps. And they'll pass on that same cost to the consumer, you can be sure of that!
Car Talk › Re: How Useful AreCar Navigation Systems On Nigerian Roads? by texazzpete(m): 5:08pm On Jan 08, 2010
@lastpage
You may claim the maps are freely available on the internet, but you KNOW that they are hacked/cracked maps. Whether or not you agree with the 'hacker' tag, it does your cause no good that you're actively pointing people to the pirated content.
What you're doing is almost like going on Apple's forums and posting links to cracked copies of Snow Leopard.

The fact is, unless you can prove that these maps are legally offered for FREE anywhere online, it's clearly a hacked/pirated software you're running. That by itself isn't that bad. But here, even when you see someone who obviously has a strong claim to creating a version of the maps you're using illegally, you're actively working against his enterprise.
And that's just lame, any way you want to spin it.

If your hangup is confirming Alabiyemmy's claims, i can at least vouch for that. This guy has been actively marketing his GPS solutions since 2006. in fact there are posts on Nairaland dating way back to 2005. I've seen his progress from java based maps running on dumbphones to running maps on GPS equipped modern day smartphones. I've been to his office several times.

I have no idea what yourself and fadahunda are up to here, but one thing is certain. You do not have the moral high ground.

So what's your take on the job loss?  and please don't tell me Chukwuma Soludo was a bad manager.
i'd like to see you do an analysis on how much Soludo's deliberate devaluation of the Naira has cost ordinary Nigerians.

Soludo told he Senate that he deliberately influenced the Naira's fall from N119 to a dollar to the current regime of around N150 to a dollar for strategic reasons.

As a result of the exchange rate change, and since Nigeria is a country that imports , millions of Nigerians have had to pay far more for goods than they did before. a quick look at the Nairaland Auto section should show you how the cost of cars has gone through the roof.

The graphical fidelity of ps3 games have way surpassed that of the competition even though it hasn't been out as long as it rivals, whats even more embarrassing is its 'MEANT TO BE HARDER TO DEVELOP FOR' so in no way should it have overtaken the 'far easier to develop for' competition.
And it's instructive to note that only first party devs that focus exclusively on ONE game with long development times have been able to get out that level of visual fidelity.

Guerilla Games - Killzone 2
Naughty Dog - Uncharted 2
Polyphony digital - GT5
The guys working on God of War 3 (can't remember the name)

Of course the only exception is Naughty Dog with Uncharted 2, but Naughty Dog are extremely brilliant devs. Even on the technically inferior PS2, their Jax and Daxter series set the benchmark for stunning graphics in platformers for a while. So that doesn't count grin

this is the secret behind the stunning graphics on Sony's hardware. That and sony's focus on graphics.
Haze, Lair and Heavenly Sword on the PS3 are examples of games that have had normal development cycles on the PS3, and look how they turned out.

On the Xbox 360, there has been a decided lack of focus on visuals for many of the first party exclusives. Halo 3 is a prime example of this. And Gears of War is an Unreal Engine 3 game from Epic, and is thus limited to what that engine can deliver.

Konami is not KOJIMA.
MGS: rising isn't utilizing the MGS4 engine., kojima team are optimizing the MGS4 engine for any other game Kojima might make. while making MGS: Peace Maker for the PSP.

MGS4 can never be done of the 360, Kojima has said it countless time, Hence he is not involved the vision and development of MGS: rising, according to him, he want to give his younger team some freedom,
I don't know what crack you're on that makes you incapable of understanding simple English, but i'll try again.

Konami has said that MGS: Rising will look markedly better than MGS 4. So that puts the lie to the statements that MGS 4 is not possible on the 360.

kosovo:
it was suppose to be, but when it was announced for the 360, Square enix discontinued the initial engine and started designing another engine that would support both the ps3 and 360, That alone has reduced any scale the game would have gotten to. But with the recent findings, the PS3 version blows the 360 version out of the water,
Kosovo, there's really no need for lies. There have been no comparisons made so far. And Square Enix did not start with another engine from scratch, do you even know how much time that takes to come up with a new engine from scratch? Square Enix has been working on the Crystal Engine on the PS3 for years now, so they should have a pretty good knowledge of the hardware. Let's wait until the game comes out and then we'll see.

kosovo:
Killzone 2 was made for 2 years, engine 2 years,
Uncharted 2, 18 months.
As at when it was announced at e3 2005, Killzone 2 had been in the making for a while. That makes it over 4 years.
after the CG cheating scandal (Sony tried to pass off CG as actual PS3 gameplay), Sony and Guerilla had to focus aggressively on the graphics.
Any dev can bring out insane graphics given enough time and motivation.

kosovo:
How about ALAN WAKE, i thought that was close to 5 years in the making and it's not out, from the videos, it looked like Alone in the Dark,
