We tend to outgrow the bad habits we developed
in our younger years naturally. If those bad
habits didn’t die off, society wouldn’t be able to
function because we’d be a bunch of
unproductive adult-children sucking our thumbs
during meetings and biting our nails in the bread
aisle. But, for some people, certain pestiferous
habits stick around much longer than they
should. These habits should never follow a
woman into adulthood.


1. DATING “BAD BOYS.”
You’re not a rebel without a cause. You’re a
grown ass woman with a job, an apartment and
plants. You can’t, in all seriousness, have a “BUT
DADDY I LOVE HIM!” attitude and then go home
and pay your electric bill. Responsibility and
riding off into the sunset on a motorcycle with a
greasy-haired convicted felon will never mix. The
appeal of the “bad boy” should wear off at the
same time you outgrow your training bra.


2. GIVING OUT A FAKE NUMBER.
If you’re not interested in a guy and you don’t
want to give him your number, then don’t.
Turning someone down because you’re not
interested isn’t mean, but deliberately giving the
guy a wrong number is. So is giving him your
actual number and then ignoring all of his texts.
If you’re not interested, say so, and tell the guy to
have a good night. If he doesn’t leave you alone,
revert back into your gargoyle form until he gets
scared and leaves.


3. TELLING YOUR FRIENDS EVERY
DETAIL OF YOUR SEX LIFE.
Your friends do not want to picture you bent over
backwards doing the Chattanooga piledriver. It
may have been fun to swap stories when sex
was brand new for all of you, but its novelty has
likely worn off by now. The devil’s business is a
normal part of your lives and should remain
largely private, especially if your partner isn’t
comfortable with you describing every act in
graphic detail over brunch using whipped cream
and crepes to better illustrate your story.


4. EXCESSIVE SOCIAL MEDIA USAGE.
Do you really have nothing better to do than
spend hours digging through pictures and posts
from people you barely remember? If your life is
so boring that you spend most of it living
vicariously though everyone else online, maybe
you should get some hobbies. If a complete
stranger can look at your social media profiles
and quickly determine your work schedule, when
you get your period, the names of every stuffed
animal you’ve ever had and the consistency of
your last bowel movement, you are giving out
WAY too much information online. If you have
enough time to do that, people are going to think
you have no life.


5. NOT APPROACHING GUYS.
It’s 2018. You don’t have to sit around in your
tower waiting for some dude to come rescue you
and take you to see a fruity opera. If you see
someone who interests you, walk over to him
and strike up a conversation. There’s nothing
wrong with a woman making the first approach.
That “women must be chased” BS needs to die
in a fire along with lime-flavored candy and
duckface.


6. NOT WORKING OUT.
You don’t need to hit the gym so hard that you
become a female version of The Mountain, but
staying active is important for all adults.
Spending all of your free time sitting on your butt
shoveling sugar into your face is going to land
you on an episode of My 600-lb Life. You only
get one body, so make an effort to take care of
it.

7. FAILING TO TAKE OFF YOUR
MAKEUP AT THE END OF THE DAY.
There is no excuse for this one. All you need is a
makeup wipe or a bottle of face wash. Cleaning
everything off takes two minutes tops. Your skin
needs to breathe while you sleep, not suffocate
under a day’s worth of makeup and other dirt
and grime. Leaving makeup on overnight can
cause premature aging, breakouts and defiled
pillow cases, among other things. Just wipe
yourself off. It isn’t difficult to do that in other
areas.


8. COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR BODY.
If you wanted to annoy your friends and make
your boyfriend/husband uncomfortable with your
insecurities, then you succeeded. Otherwise,
complaining about your body accomplishes
nothing. There’s no point in comparing your body
to someone else’s when they look a certain way
and you don’t. We’re all different and our bodies
will respond to stress and aging in various ways
over time. If there’s something about your
appearance that bothers you and you have the
power to change it, then by all means, change it.
Just don’t voice your complaints constantly to
people who have already reassured you that no,
you don’t look fat in those jeans.


9. NOT SEEING A GYNECOLOGIST
REGULARLY.
Lady parts, though awesome, need regular
maintenance. It’s important to keep yourself
informed on what’s happening down there,
especially if you have a predisposition to things
like cervical cancer or endometriosis. Regular
check ups are good for your health and your
peace of mind. See a good doctor regularly and
make sure all of your lady machinery is in tip-top
shape and ready to go.


10. STAYING IN UNHEALTHY
RELATIONSHIPS FOR WAY TOO LONG.
Enough with the flimsy, BS excuses. You’re an
adult, and you’re miserable with the guy. You
don’t have to stay in a bad relationship the same
way you don’t have to stand in a puddle of urine
in the kiddie pool. Whatever your (disturbing)
reasons are, you’re there by choice even though
there are plenty of better places to be. All you
need is enough willpower to walk away.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has lamented on how pirated copies of My Transition Hours, his recently released book, have been circulated across stores by people who are unhappy with the contents of his book, The Punch reports.

Jonathan said in a Facebook post that the pirated books which are being sold in traffic may not have the original contents.

He said:

“It has come to my attention that a pirated book, purporting to be my Book, ‘My Transition Hours’, is now being sold on the streets of some cities and towns. Please note that those copies are not reflective of my book and may have been put out by those unhappy with the book in order to undermine it.”

Gionee has been facing a tough time over the past few months and is almost on the verge of bankruptcy.

The company has been facing financial woes in China, and if the latest report is to be believed, Gionee is considering filing for bankruptcy. There is also a possibility of liquidation after the company failed to pay financial creditors, marketing firms and about 400 suppliers.

According to reports from Beijing Youth daily, Gionee is on the verge of bankruptcy after owning money to financial institutions, suppliers, advertising and marketing agencies. Gionee currently owes $2.45 billion. And the chairman of Gionee “Liu”, had earlier lost CNY1 billion while gambling with the company assets.


Gionee, which ranked behind Apple in sixth place for handset sales in China last year, is now on the verge of bankruptcy restructuring as suppliers have halted component sales after failing to receive payments for several months, according to the report.

Liu admitted in the interview that Gionee’s total debts amount to 17 billion yuan($2,447,065,000), with 10 billion yuan($1,439,450,000) of this owed to banks, 5 billion yuan($719,725,000) to upstream suppliers and about 2 billion to advertising agencies.

If restructuring is not a viable option, Gionee will go into liquidation. This probably is the reason why you haven’t been seeing new devices from the company lately.m

Embattled OAU lecturer, Professor Richard Akindele, who was charged with demanding sex to pass his student, Monica Osagie, was denied bail by a Federal High Court in Osogbo on Tuesday.

ICPC Senior Legal Officer, Mr Kehinde Adetoye had earlier asked the court to deny the defendant bail on grounds that he will not appear for his trial when released. Vanguard reported that the move was backed by the defendant's failure to show up at the ICPC office in Abuja after a written agreement to honour any invitation extended to him,  particularly on his return from abroad on a medical trip.

Ruling on the case, Justice Maureen Onyetenu who ordered Akindele to be remanded in Ilesa Prison until Dec. 17, ordered the prosecution counsel from the ICPC to produce video evidence of the lecturer and his student having fun.

The OAU lecturer was first arraigned before Justice Maureen Onyetenu on Nov. 19 by the ICPC, on four counts of alteration of age and demanding sex to pass his student .

A woman in China has given birth to two genetically edited baby girls, according to the Associated Press news agency. The aim of the experiment was to create children who are immune to HIV, but it hasn’t yet been independently reviewed or verified.

The experiment has been widely condemned as unethical, even by those who are in favour of using gene editing in eggs, sperm or embryos to prevent diseases in children if it can be done safely.

“If true, this experiment exposes healthy normal children to risks of gene editing for no real necessary benefit,” says ethicist Julian Savulescu at the University of Oxford. “There are many effective ways to prevent HIV in healthy individuals.”

“There is no pressing need for this – it’s totally inappropriate,” says Greg Neely at the University of Sydney, Australia.

HIV enters and infects cells by binding to a protein on the surface called CCR5. The team in China, led by He Jiankui of Southern University of Science and Technology of China in Shenzhen, says it has used the CRISPR gene editing technique to try to disable the gene for CCR5.

One aspect of the experiment that has come under criticism is that we don’t yet know if it is safe to delete both copies of the CCR5 gene – which is involved in immunity – in every cell of the body. “We don’t know what the full effects will be,” says Neely.

Seven pairs of men and women reportedly took part in the experiment. All of the men were HIV-positive, and, according to the Associated Press, each couple was offered free IVF treatment in exchange for participating in what was described on ethical consent forms as an “AIDS vaccine development programme”. The team behind the work says the couples were fully informed about the experiment.

The sperm from each man was “washed” to rid it of any HIV, and then injected into eggs extracted from their partners. Next, the CRISPR gene editing machinery was injected into the resulting embryos.

In total, the experiment produced 22 embryos. To check that the CRISPR gene editing had worked, a single cell was removed from each embryo and analysed. He says that 16 embryos had successfully been edited, 11 of which were implanted. Only one pregnancy was successfully achieved, and it produced twins.

Of these twins, one is said to have had both their copies of CCR5 disabled. That means that their body won’t make the CCR5 protein, and their cells should be able to resist infection with HIV.

However, according to the Associated Press, the embryo for the second twin only had one copy of CCR5 disabled. This raises ethical questions – why was this embryo still implanted in its mother, given the known risks of gene editing, and the fact that this individual will still be vulnerable to HIV?

Kindly reflect upon the story of a guy named Fred:

"Fred was a very intelligent and talented guy in his mid-twenties. His parents were strong faithful Christians, and their faith influenced Fred greatly. His parents' faith and influence molded him into a responsible guy who ignored the pleasures of the world (fornication, wild-parties, clubbing, alcoholism, etc) but focused squarely on his future. And so, Fred was obviously on a path to greatness in life.

As at when he was at his final year in the University, he was still on a first-class, and was still enjoying various sponsorships from various organizations. In fact, one of these organizations - a multinational company - already promised him a lucrative job immediatey he graduated from the University. The job was attached with lucrative packages, including an official house and an official car. Fred was the envy of everyone in his school, everyone recognised the fact that he has a very bright and glorious future ahead of him.

The problem started when Fred crossed paths with a lady called Vivian. Actually, Vivian was Fred's ex-secondary school classmate. When they were still in secondary school, Fred and Vivian were always contending for the first position each term. They were obviously the brightest students in their class, though they weren't close friends.

And so, Fred was surprised when he received a call from a strange number who later identified herself as Vivian - his former classmate back then in secondary school. She told him she was within the environs of his University and asked for his address. Afterwards, she started visiting him frequently, obviously trying hard to establish a relationship between them, even bringing him cooked foods just to make him comfortable with her.

Then, on an unfortunate day, she visited his room on a cold rainy evening, putting on a revealing provocative dress that threw Fred off balance. She lured Fred into having sex with her, and that day, Fred had his first sex right there on his bed.

However, immediately after that encounter, Vivian stopped contacting or visiting him. In fact, she ignores his calls intentionally whenever he tried reaching her. Weeks later, Fred was experiencing changes in his body system. He was frequently getting sick and was losing a lot of weight, getting leaner and dry. His frequent sicknesses made him missed numerous tests and even his final exams. It was when the multinational company that had offered him automatic employment decided to treat him in their private clinic that they discovered the main problem. Fred has contracted a dread sexually transmitted virus! The news quickly spread round the school. Before Fred died a humiliating death, he was subjected to stigmatization and constant ridicule - especially from those who have always been jealous of him.

And that was how Fred, the youngster with a very bright future, thwarted his life just because of few minutes pleasure. Indeed, the grave yard is the richest place on earth, as it contains numerous unused potentials and talents.

What Fred never knew was that Vivian, a promiscuous lady, contracted the virus from one of her numerous sex partners. As soon as she got aware of this, she swore not to die alone but to share the virus with various other people, especially those with promising futures.

She drafted a list of those she knew are endowed with talents, intelligence and with a bright future ahead. Then she began getting closer to them one by one, luring them into sex and sharing the virus with the unsuspecting folks........

This is the unfortunate story of Fred, and I'm sure you will have drawn a lot of lessons from it. I want you to understand something. You have a bright future ahead, and you are meant to achieve and do great things in life. I'm confident of this because your Creator - God - created you superbly.

However, the devil, who is your adversary, hates you bitterly and is bent on destroying you and your destiny. The devil's major aim is to steal, kill and destroy. Nevertheless, you are guaranteed safety and immunity when you made Jesus Christ Lord and Savior of your life and you live your life obeying His commandments and doing His Will.

The devil has numerous agents meant to lure you into sin and get your life ruined. That handsome guy or beautiful lady around you might actually have an ulterior motive towards you, while you think they are innocent.

Illicit sexual activities have ruined a lot of lives, please flee from it. Get closer to God and ask for the Holy Spirit to reveal and expose the plans of the evil ones towards you. God will help you live a life of purity and give you an expected end (a good and fulfilling future)

1. Become a family leader

The most important role of a father is as a family leader. As a leader, the father must set a good example to his family, both wife and kids. This is the word of Allah in the Holy Book of Quran.

“And it is He who has made you successors upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees (of rank) that He may try you through what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in the penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.” (Verse 6:165)

2. Give all the best for the child

A father has rights to do for his children. These rights are giving them a good name, educating the child, and giving a good position. Below is one of the hadith that states this.

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam has stated,
“On the Day of Qiyaamah you will be called by your (own) names and the names of your fathers. Therefore keep good names.” Abu Dawood

3. Father as breadwinner

The role of father to be the backbone of the family was already written in the Holy Book of Quran. Father is obliged to support his wife and children with a lawful sustenance. Below here Allah Almighty says in the Quran.

“Men are in charge of women by (right of) what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend (for maintenance) from their wealth…….” (Verse 4: 34)

4. As a fair husband

The others important role of father as the husband is to be a fair husband. A husband must be fair to his wife. Especially if he has more than one wife. Allah Almighty says in the Quran.

“And you will never be able to be equal (in feeling) between wives, even if you should strive (to do so). So do not incline completely (toward one) and leave another hanging. And if you amend (your affairs) and fear Allah then indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.” (Verse 4:129)

5. Looking for a groom for his daughter

In addition to being the backbone of the family, one important father role is to find a good groom for his daughter. Below here is one of the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) narrated by Abu Daud.

“The Messenger of Allah Sallallahu ‘alaihi Wa Sallam said:” He who keeps three daughters (or two also), then he educates and marries them, and does well with them. then he will get heaven.” (Abu Dawud).

The Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, received his new wife at the palace on Thursday, a day after he marked his 44th birthday.

The marriage rights were done privately in Akure, Ondo State and she was later received at the Ooni’s palace.

The lady said she was at a stadium on the 14th of March to see a game with her brothers. But the man kept looking at her and got into every picture she took that day.
