So many ... Haiti, Jamaica, Congo, India, China, Korea ... citizens of most of those countries started flooding Canada long time ago. The Haitians had started in the 60s. The Nigerians have just started.

Moving violation tickets.

If the police pull you over and give you a ticket for any moving violation such as going through a red light, or going over the speed limit, or making unsafe lane change , going through a stop sign, reckless driving … , you will be given the option of either to pay the ticket or to fight the ticket in court.

Guys, you should NEVER agree to pay the moving violation ticket without fighting it in court first. Always fight your moving violation ticket in court. The reason is that the minute you pay the ticket, the moving violation infraction will go on the driving record. And as a result of this, your insurance payment will go higher.

And this is how you can fight a moving violation ticket in court.

Immediately after the officer gives you the ticket, make sure all the information is correct, including anything identifying you or describing your car. Make sure your name isn’t misspelled. Make sure the all the digits of your VIN number that the officer wrote on your ticket are also correct.
Missing or incorrect information on your ticket may be grounds for dismissal.

In most jurisdictions, the police officer who issued your ticket is required to show up at your hearing. If he does not appear, your ticket may be dismissed automatically.

In other jurisdictions, on the ticket you will be asked whether or not you want the officer to show up at the hearing. If that is the case, check the box for the officer to be present. In so doing, if the officer doesn’t show, the judge will toss the ticket away.

In many cases, officers in Toronto don’t show up in court. They are too busy. Therefore, many moving violations cases are thrown out of court in Toronto because the police officers don’t show up. But in London, the police officers are most likely to show up in court

So, if you live in a jurisdiction where a police is most likely to show up in court, consider changing the court date when you get one. Typically the officer who issued your ticket already has that date in his schedule and plans to attend several hearings that day. If you have the date of your hearing changed, there's a greater possibility the officer won't show up.

Once the ticket date has been changed and the new date of hearing is approaching, consider changing the date again. This will increase the chances that the officer isn’t available to show up. In other words, keep changing the hearing date as much as possible.

And when you are facing the judge and the officer in court, this is how you can fight the ticket:

Challenge the officer’s version of event as much as possible. When the officer finish talking, the judge will give you the opportunity to speak. Ask the officer questions. Try to establish some doubt in the officer’s mind and the judge mind. You may ask the officer how certain he was that it was your car that was over speeding.

Common arguments involve casting doubt on the officer’s story. Defendants often argue that the speed measuring unit wasn’t used properly, or their view of a stop sign was obstructed.

Please note that moving violation ticket is different from parking ticket. The parking ticket doesn’t go on your record nor does has any effect on your insurance. So, if you have a parking ticket just pay it unless you have strong reason to believe the ticket should be dismissed.

My brother, I don't pray it happens to my enemy. It was so traumatic for me. He was found by one of the security guys and was kept in the office till I got there.

We went to Apple store and I kept him on one of the tables with the tabs to play a game while I waited to see an advisor. I dont know how and why he got up and left while I was trying to put his sister in her buggy.
To cut the long story short I started looking for him and crying, a guy told me he saw him leave and I was like you couldn't stop him? He wasn't bothered to be honest. These two Caucasian ladies told me to show them his picture, thankfully we took pictures as we got to the mall and I showed them. They went different ways and one eventually saw a security guard who radioed and alerted the other guards and someone found him and took him to the office. They asked for my ID and I gave them my UK license as I was on holiday.

It could have been worse. I truly thank those women. I don't know what I would have done?

That is the tricky part.
I always wonder what to do if I ever spot a 2 year old child wandering alone on the road.
Assume there is no phone around, should I carry him to the police? (Which may look like an abduction).
Dealing with children can be a very tricky and complicated subject in North America.

I am pretty sure the guy didn't know you were the mother. Else, he was going to notify you.
The same thing almost happened to me at a McDonald's restaurant when my 3 years old son walked out of the playground door but I was quickly notify by someone.

Thanks for the responses. The question wasn’t asked because of the scenario today or because a child was missing( he has been found). I highlighted in my post that I understand the importance of the emergency alert services and this is even the first time I’m seeing a child is the one being looked for. Bbaby84 so sorry for the experience you had and thank God he was found.
I simply wanted to know if there was a way to disable the alerts maybe in the intermin. Didn’t look to be judged, hence the disclaimer in my introduction but it’s okay. I understand we all have to look out for one another and be our brother’s keeper. I will assume the alerts can’t be disabled.

Please pardon my question, it might be a bit insensitive.

Is this how emergency alert will be going forward? I understand it’s importance and all but I thought it was just a notification the first time so that anytime there is a province based general emergency, we will know. Now, radio, tv, phones, everything just paused and alert came on about a child last seen with a woman and to call 911 if seen. The alert even disconnects a call just to get one’s attention.

Pls is there a way one can ‘unregister’ from this alert services?

Unregister ? Seriously.

The purpose of amber alert is to ask the public for help in case of a child abduction.
It also send a strong message to anyone thinking of kidnapping a child that the entire province will be notified in a matter of seconds.

We are one big family in Ontario.
If it may happen to your neighbor, it can happen to you.
If we all unregistered, each person will be on his own.
And the moment we have stopped helping one another is the moment humanity will cease to exist.

hello guys,
please i want to take my family (wife and 3 kids) on a vacation to the US but my wife doesn't have any travel history.i have enough travel history and even had a US visa that expired without my using it. I got the visa while working with a company that wanted to send me on a training which was eventually cancelled. All my travel history was while i was employed though spanning about 8 years. i now run my own business (for the past 2 years) and want us to go and chill for a few weeks in the states. My wife has her fashion business as well and its doing great. Will her not having any travel history be a show stopper?does she really need travel history since i have lots of it?

If you eventually go with the LinkedIn option since it is free, check out the Become a front end developer learning track. It teaches HTML, CSS and JS.

If I were you, I'd also check out the Improve your JS skills learning track followed by the Become a React Developer Track and then Improve your React skills track. These 3 learning tracks will improve your JS knowledge and you'd be exposed to the world of JS libraries, frameworks and Single Page Applications.

To learn Node, just take a look at the Become a full stack developer track. This track will expose you to the MEAN stack (MongoDb, Express, Angular and Node). But since you might be familiar with React if you took the React courses, you can swap out Angular for React thereby having the MERN stack.

In the end, you'd still need to learn about text editors, the command line, version control and testing. If you decide to learn a back end language, you can't escape knowing about servers (VPS, Shared hosting, IaaS, PaaS), databases (design, implementation, etc), application architecture and a myriad of other things I can't remember right now.

This is not in any way to scare you, believe me, most people who want to learn programming don't know the number of things/technology they need to know about just to function as a programmer so they drop out when they realise how ignorant they still are despite spending 3 months learning HTML and CSS.

Lest I forget, Lynda.com beats Udemy hands down by miles and the only udemy course I have ever enjoyed are the ones by Maximilian (academind is his YouTube channel).

To add to what’s already been said , nowadays there is a lot of emphasis on learning “programming” . I believe a better approach is looking at learning the Software Development cycle which typically involves Requirements Gathering (basically what you expect from what you’re building) -> Analysis (UML class diagrams, Sequence Diagrams , User Stories/ Use Cases) > Implementing/ developing using a technology stack depending on what is being built > Testing ( unit testing / integration testing etc > Deployment)

Once you start looking at software problems in terms of the above , you start producing software that not only works but is well structured because at the end of the day it’s not too hard making software that does xyz but employers are very interested in things like efficiency, robustness , scalability and performance which your software will lack without following that sequence .

For each of those steps , you can research to learn what it involves in terms of Programming languages , Libraries or Frameworks.

I think people should look further than the present time.
It is better for a banker to sacrifice his comfort in Nigeria to drive uber in Canada for the future of his kids. Otherwise the banker's children may end up driving uber in Nigeria.

It is not all about the present time, it is also about the future, the next generation

If you have kids, by all means move to Canada and don't look back. Just focus on the glory to come

No there are different classifications of programming language Static vs Dynamic, functional vs object oriented. The difference between functional and Object oriented is so wide, that when trying to switch from one to the other, the first advice you get is forget everything you know about programming.


This is hard and it mostly comes by experience. I really don't know any good book that can explain the concept.

Learning to program is learning to solve problems. An example is learning to communicate rather than learning English or French. Of course you would need a language to communicate but they are two different things.

Same with programming, its learning to solve problems with computers and most times one would use a programming language but people who just learn a programming language can only solve problems in the context of the programming language they learnt. Their problem solving skills is built around the language they learnt.

On the other hand those who learn to program, try to solve the problems independent of a programming language, when they have a solution they use the best language to implement.

1. I met this American lady online we are now into each other and want to help me apply for a visit visa to come see her. She want to apply and pay for the visa stuff online so that I won't pay a dime. Is it okay for her to do it?because I read that we should pay with GTB stuff
2. My passport is a virgin passport, what is my change is getting the visa with such passport?
3. I m 29 and my monthly take home is #67,500. If I am to use my statement of account is it enough to grant me entry? Or should she use her statement and supporting documents? and
4. Will be granted a visa if I tell the VO that I m going to see someone I have never met before and do you think this won't ruin my chance? Because in part one someone was advised to change from visit to conference because the proposed sponsor is an American and they don't have any ties.

That is excactly what I am saying. The US and Canada don't have access to one another database. I have seen the US immigration calling the Canadian border service to inquire about a traveller at the US-Canada border. This is what the sharing of info is about between the 2 countries. They may call to ask on a specific application. If the US has access to Canada database, they didn't have to call the Canadian border services.

This info was share here when you read this thread all you will see it, meanwhile I'm not saying if you were denied Canada it will affect your US visa but it might affect it only when you give different info on both applications definitely U.S. embassy will lnow during your intervew. I also discovered it during my last US intervew the VO will not tell you but will work with the info and you will not know. we are here to learn

One thing that OP refused to understand is the fact that most people relocate to Canada to have the future of their kids secured. Like you rightly pointed out, with Canadian education and job experience (Industrial training), it becomes easy for them to thrive. May be you should look at it from that angle too.

They also share visa link I am talking with experince in case they ask you if you have apply or denial Canada visa tell them the truth because they a ready know . if your information on Canada visa application is different from your US visa application they will also know and this is also factor for U.S. visa refusal. Someone was ask if he applied for Canada visa during U.S. visa interview he said no while he did and the VO told him that he lied. So how did he know?

The only way they would know that person had applied for Canada visa is if they had contact the Canadian consulate to inquire.
Otherwise, the US doesn't have access to any other country database.

SWIFT is for IOS development so its worth it. One of the best advice i ever received was " Don't learn a programming language, learn to program " once you understand this, your career will take off.

HTML and CSS are for front end jobs but in my opinion, its something most people who have done any web development should know, so it doesn't count as a "big skill".

I am confused about the bolded. How can one learn to program without learning a programming language?
