I watched the G8 meeting and all the photographs they took, l saw a lot of state leaders in an enlarged group-photograph, including Jacob Zuma, of South Africa but our Brother Umaru Musa Y WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND.
Could it be that he was asked to "excuze" them for a minute?  embarassed embarassed embarassed

Give me one good and justifiable reasons they should put him in an enlarged group photograph? This is G8 Summit not AU meeting where Mugabe can proudly boast and say whatever he wants and where Libya "king" can ask Ahmadinejad to come and give some "speech"

How come none of the "Human Right" and its making "Economic Sense" here-in are not interested in the "criminal and mora" abuse" angle of this project? Or is it okay that Britain continue to encourage the looting of our on treasury, pillaging our Oil in Delta and yet be crying foul about the number of Nigerians in British Prisons?
Cant we see that one action begets the other?
Bob Marley was actually right then!

Because they expect Africa to be labeled evil in terms of morals while they slap the disadvantages on us and curtail our meaningful growth but it's so sad to say that we aren't treading in a honest path, however, I blame the government as much as I blame every Nigerian criminal

it shouldt in a perfect world
but since we arent in utopia, it matters
in ur case u say he's how old? 24 and ur 49?
now, thats a pretty huge gap
i cant say whether u should go for it or not, but if u have kids best bring them into the mix cos their opinions count

that said, let himn be the one to initiate anything and let all talks of marriage never come up anytime soon
ur dating a child who ur old enough to be his mom quite convieniently
best tread with caution and wisdom
Let me add to your thoughts that talking online is so different from actually meeting in person. There's a clear difference in talking and acting. We say at this end of the world that "talk is cheap". Anyone could say anything they want, but are they acting that way? Not like someone is teaching him but can his actions preach his supposed "online" maturity? I don't think so. That woman is like born in the 50's and the guy born in the 80's --- there's bound to be a conflict of ideas. Old school will always be old school, new school will always be new and millennial kids will always be millennial. Don't get it twisted. That relationship is best kept online and restrict it at that. All these people ranting it don't matter never have been in such situation before and if they have, they should recite their account on here and we will dissect it all.

As the Nigerian government, I'd ensure it's done the right way and we put the money to best use for the project it's been intended for but we all know thats not going to happen with the Nigerian government. The money is as good as spent already. Check out how their tongues will be wailing for the stacks of mama charlie coming their way

debosky:
Be skeptical all you want - this was never supposed to be anything good, it's a simple mathematical calculation

It costs the UK 30,000/year per prisoner to keep someone in jail. There are 800 Nigerians. 800*30,000 = 24,000,000 a year.

Give Nigeria even 5m to 'rebuild' prisons saves the UK 19m. Sound economic sense to me.
I see it from your point of view and I said that in my first post but what I'm saying is unless the British will be the one to maintain the prison, it is as good as doomed already before it ever starts. What's #300Million for Nigerian government to share? It's not even enough for one ministry. It is good economically for the UK no doubt but it's nothing more than some ploy to "chop" money for the the politicians while they will be less busy building substandard prisons. I know they shouldn't be responsible for shouldering Nigeria's social problems.

debosky:
Personally, anyone who leaves Nigeria to commit a crime ruins the country's image and worsens the situation for every legitimate person out there.

Bring them home to Nigeria, collect the money from the British and refurbish the prisons, but make sure the deported prisoners go to the worst jails. Disgracing a nation should not be encouraged in any way.

That said, the British need to come clean as well and stop entertaining stolen funds.
Remove the dirt from your eyes before you come close to someone else's. UK should come clean first before this project and why am I so skeptical about this scheme? Nothing good comes from hell and certainly not from UK government. There's always a negative proxy for whatever they do

Why is he going there? I doubt he's going to make any meaningful speech and his impact will be zero. Newsflash, there's nothing we can do about it-- he has to go. Nigeria has remained in a stagnant state since he assumed office and tell you what, he's not a true representation for the sub-Saharan Africa, I'd rather they have called some other president. He's not got the charisma to mingle with world leaders -- I hate to talk down on my president but that's the truth

Only Jesus? I wonder what God thinks of us. Don't you think the world has turned into the advanced, hi-tech version of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Yes oooooo. People are daring God's marvelous works. Now they want to make atheist have an edge over us that there's nothing like God. Just yesterday at the University of Newcastle they have discovered how to make sperms from plant cells, Can you imagine that? Now people will start to believe that if ever there was God then He was just lucky to have invented human beings first.[quote author=tpia. link=topic=294031.msg4160675#msg4160675 date=1247159302]that Jesus may be the difference between life and death for you someday.

I hope they will not give the money to Nigerian govt.
And if they build themselves, they will have to worry abt the management of same prison, and that will means more money being spent on a yearly basis, and this will all be tax payer's money, spending like 30,000 pounds to take care of one inmate in a year, that is wicked, i guess some of the inmate will tell the briton govt to give them the money and they will never come to UK again.
I am not sure if i wanna see my tax payer's money going into something like this.
It just doesn't strike me as being intelligent that they want to build a prison in Nigeria. They have a link with our corrupt politicians and there's just some shady business going on there. I also believe there's no way they'd build a prison in Nigeria under UK's government supervision -- that is so not happening. Nigerian government will be in touch; let me add quickly that a committee will be set out for the project in the National Assembly both lower and upper arm, they'd have another ministry for it (Ministry Of Prisons) while doing all these 75% of all the funds have been spent. What's #300Million to Nigerian government anyway when just on person embezzles millions. UK should think it through if they really want to follow through what they are saying. If they are, they'd be the one to handle all the expenses and pay for the workers, howbeit, only Britons should be allowed to manage the prison not the Nigerian government or it will be worse than Kirikiri

I don't understand this. They want to build a prison in Nigeria for illegal immigrants in Nigeria? I think it's good as long as it's meant for the illegal immigrants. If I were to be a UK citizen I wouldn't want my tax expended on people who entered my country illegally and committed crime. But on the other hand I feel UK's intention is far beyond what they are trying to explain. If they build the prison who maintains it? Who and who will the management entail? Who will pay the workers? How can they guarantee the criminals they sentenced in their own country? No matter how much crime the illegal immigrants must have perpetrated they should serve their terms in Nigeria.

Don't let us blind ourselves to the fact that if they give Nigerian government the money, it will take them 10 years to complete it and it sure will be substandard. If the construction is supervised by the UK government to its completion the government will in its name embezzle a lot of money and still the prison will look substandard and just then they will turn their backs on the prison and ship more Nigerians back.

Is anyone worried that if they build the prison more Nigerians will be sent to jail and deported? grin grin grin grin grin

I'm sitting on the fence on this one because I have never believed UK government, they have been very shady and Nigerian government can't be trusted with neither money nor a complete welfare
