naptu2:Great team up there. Even though I know all the above players (except Lentini), the AC Milan team that really caught my fancy was the next generation to your team-list (2000 - 2007). Inzaghi, Shevchenko Kaka/Rui Costa/Rivaldo Pirlo, Gattuso, Seedorf/Ambrosini Serginho/Kaladze, Maldini, Nesta, Cafu Dida/Abbiati There was just something about Milan and the San Siro that made them the darling of all Serie A teams then. Hope they return to their glory years. |
I believe there should already be laid down protocol for the presidency's obligations to the burial of key national officers. Buhari's absence might likely be because of security advisory i.e if his team are unable to guarantee his safety due to the short timespan, he'll be advised not to go. |
Jimmyubah2:Not true. He won the FA cup equivalent in Spain, Copa del rey. Scored 2 goals in the final. |
Jokerman:Abi na my brother, just as he carried Uefalona to carry second in the league last season and to their disgraceful exit at the hands of Bayern. He even carried Barca to UCL semis in 2019. No wonder you are a joke ![]() |
OJEEMAH:Very fair and reasonable points bro. Funnily, this is one of those rare occasions when both you and the person you quoted are actually right. Just that you are focusing on different aspects of the scenario. Your point is Atletico had many key contributors to their Liga trophy, the most prominent being Suarez, Correa, Llorente, Carrasco and Oblak. If you remove the contribution of any one of these 5 players, Atletico would not win the league. The other guy stated that if you remove Suarez's contribution, Atletico would be fourth. That is also true and not in conflict with your view. The reason all the media attention is on Suarez is because of 2 things: First; of the 5 players listed, Suarez has the best marginal contribution if we are to attach numerical importance to their stats. Secondly, his inglorious exit from Barca to Atletico makes for a fairytale story ending of the rejected cornerstone that became champion and the media isn't going to ignore that. Even though Messi's marginal contribution is actually greater than Suarez's, it's a winner takes all the plaudits that would play out here. You know if Barca's defence had at the very least avoided all those schoolboy give-aways by Lenglet & Umtiti alone, Barca would be champions. But no matter how many goals Messi scored, the abject defenders were always there to sabotage his efforts. |
lexy2014:For the first time, I'm on the same page with you. Your comment pattern should be more like this rather than all those repeated PHD questions you like to ask which no one is ready to dedicate time to answer. |
If Lewy stays in Bayern, he's still going to score tons of goals. He's a deceptively good striker whom you'd think is more of a poacher. But actually, he contributes his own share of assists and out-of-the box support to his team. Congrats Bayern. |
HellVictorinho:Okay let me do it your way since football truly didn't start 5 years ago. In the past 15 seasons (since 2006), Messi has been highest total goalscorer for 8 times while CR was highest on 6 occasions while they had a tie once (2010/2011). This still proves my statement right na. Meanwhile, it's been years ago since Ronaldo still had a bit of consistent assist acumen. He's lost that ability eons ago. If Ferguson did not waste Ronaldo's time, he would not have had the relevant experience to mature into the deadly goal machine that he is. So consider that period a necessary schooling period for CR as he was a bit of a late bloomer. Messi also needed about 2 years to develop well before rising to the top. So your excuse does not stand. |
HellVictorinho:Lol, in the past 5 seasons, Messi has outscored CR on 4 occasions (total no of goals per season), CR only outscored him once which was last season. So where is the lie in what I stated? Meanwhile, your CR was not among top 5 assist providers, dribbler and key chances creator over the same period? So how am I taking him for granted? |
PAWG:By titles?? Maybe Dani Alves and Ryan Giggs are the GOATs then, in your own dictionary. |
owobokiri:As in ehn, even me I've just noticed I've taken Messi for granted. It's hard enough scoring high number of goals, yet he often times still outscores CR (the generally accepted standard for great goalscoring feats). He also then outdoes CR in not only being a great goalscorer but as a scorer of great goals. He then does playmaking (assisting and key chances creation) at an equally high level out-assisting the quintessential playmaker in De Bruyne. As if those two are not already hard enough, he further goes on to dominate the dribbling space (he is the best dribbler in all top 5 leagues in Europe this season among players with 40 or more games played). Only Neymar is at par in this area. It's unbelievable. All the other players I mentioned could only dominate in one space. Messi does in every space, and yet it looks ordinary. Messi, I'm so sorry to have commonized your outputs. |
Seniorwriter:Thanks and I appreciate your comment. While Ronaldo may be prolific, Messi's talents and output are unparalleled. There is only one GOAT of the modern football era and that is the little atomic flea! |
Congratulations to Atletico, they deserved it. Barca gave them the missing piece of the puzzle in the person of Suarez. Hate him or love him, Suarez is La Liga's best no 9 striker of this decade (Since 2010) or arguably this century (with R9, Eto and Raul as contenders). Remove Suarez's goals and they'd probably end up fourth this season. Even Simeone was surprised at how Barca threw away such quality pennywisely and gladly snapped him up. Looking at it the other way round. If Suarez had stayed at Barca and contributed just 10 league goals, Barca would be champions. Although this would have masked the underlying issues the Barca team had. Real and Barca lost out because the goal scoring burden was carried only by Messi and Benzema while Atletico had Suarez, Correa, Llorente, Carrasco and Felix all of whom had over 10 goal involvements (goals and assists) each. |
And this is someone people said is finished. Top scorer, top assister, most chances created and best dribbler by far. Tell me if this is not an alien. If being finished means I will finish top in every of my career KPIs, then I want to be finished like Messi! GOAT |

For the life of me I couldn't understand why Barca was hell bent on disgracing out one of the club's all time legends like he was a leper. Even if they wanted him out, they could have given him at least a decent celebrated exit to avoid this kind of revenge-fuelled situation. Meanwhile, why am I noticing some powerplay between Obembet and Mysportsdab on who gets to make the frontpage with the same topic? That palaver is for the mods to sort out. |

PlayMaker14: I know. But recently, she's even tried to balance out the bias small maybe after plenty criticism came her way. I'll give her that. |
The Fight nobody wants to see anymore. A courtroom fight. The Americans have a bruised ego and are unwilling to let go of a needless fight. AJ abeg just exercise small patience. |
obembet:Messi's favorite opponents are Sevilla & Atletico Madrid and not Eibar @Obembela. Scored 39 and 33 goals against them respectively. And Eibar was already safe this season, regardless of Messi ![]() |
It's a pointless match for Barca anyway. So it's understandable that the GOAT of football needs to take a much-needed rest, at least to recover small energy before the Copa America. |
Just feeling so pessimistic about this Aguero's capture by Barca. Man's last season at Man City was so uninspiring. He seems to have lost almost all his skills and deadly striking instinctiveness that made him so lethal. At least Suarez still has aggression and technique. TBH, I'm not sure what Aguero brings to the table that Suarez didn't (maybe better passing and link-up skills sha). |
Dyt, many Nigerian youths will be beefing you for these your recent posts because so many people are on the other side of the unemployment divide. Tis looking like you are trying to make things harder for them lol. Great points btw. |
You missed out on some sensational hat-tricks o. 1. Mark Viduka vs Liverpool (4 goals) in 2000 2. Dennis Bergkamp vs Liecester City (scored 3 absolutely wonder goals) 1997/1998 3. T. Henry vs Liverpool (incl. the famous solo goal that left Carragher in pieces) 2003/2004 4. RVP vs Chelsea at Stamford bridge 2011/2012( I think this beats his hattrick against A.Villa due to the level of opposition) 5. Some hattricks by Matt Le Tissier and Alan Shearer are worthy mentions |
Kingcalls:Which open play goal did he score against Inter? Roma, Napoli and Lazio are not the kind of big teams we are talking of. Did Messi not also score against Sevilla, Real Sociedad and Valencia? Lol, it's obvious you need medical attention asap seeing how your comments are so befuddled. Bills are on me. Cannot waste my time anymore arguing with someone with amoebic IQ on footballing matters. Pls reply anyhow you want, you will be duly ignored. |

Unfortunately, Lukaku has no UCL footprint this season. Only an otherworldly performance at the Euros can push him to the front burner. |
paulolee:I believe Mbappe is the front runner for the B'Dor cos he had the best individual performance in the UCL this season and getting to the semis also counts for something. Remember Messi won despite being eliminated at the semis in 2019 because he had the best individual performance that UCL season. De Bruyne is also a strong contender if he puts up a strong showing in the final and Man City wins the UCL, he can usurp Mbappe. Don't think Lewy will win as he was eliminated from the UCL too early and did not have same impact as Mbappe even in the games he participated. Messi and Ronaldo are outsiders in the running. The Euros and Copa will likely still play a deciding factor and can catapult Messi or CR into front runners, or cement the existing front runners stake for the ultimate prize. |
Kingcalls:You have turned yourself into a complete joke. The person you quoted is pushing for Lewy to win it, yet your Messi-obsessed brain could only think of responding with Messi Messi Messi. Don't let Messi kill you before your time o. You spite Messi with something, yet the same thing also indicts CR, but you don't seem to realize this like a blind bat. Pls how many big teams did CR score from open play against this season? Someone that was roundly disgraced without scoring against Porto. Couldn't score any open goal against Inter, AC Milan, Barca or even Atalanta. I said it, you appear schizophrenic. |
