Lionel Andres Cutticcini Messi, Congratulations on another milestone. You are the Greatest Footballer of All Time. Your status as the GOAT is not really defined by whether you break Pele's goal-scoring record or not. Those are mere statistical aesthetics. Your position at the summit had been long sealed by your incomparable talented displays, impact and all-round abilities demonstrated consistently for over a decade and a half. You are Messi. You strike fear into the heart of defenders like no other player ever such that they always swarm around you in threes and fours, yet your brilliance still shines through time and time again. If football were to have a face, it would be you. If all footballers were to have an highlights reel of their magical moments on the field, perhaps Pele may have a good 75-minutes show, Maradona/Ronaldo De Lima may perhaps have an hour and a half of true brilliance on display, but yours would outspan these your closest competitors by at least the duration of a full football match. A record number of the world player of the year is testament to your individual supremacy, which is all that matters in the end. Shine on King Leo. |
Abudu2000:Silent Night was the Nollywood movie that shot him up to superstardom. The plot was classic: the incorruptible judge (Alex-usifo Omiagbo) who had to sentence his beloved only son (Ramsey) to death cos he was implicated in a murder case. I so much liked that film. Thanks for the reminder! |
This is the second Burundi President to succumb to Covid 19. The virus loves Burundi. |
adexeli:As in I really wonder at our mentality as Nigerians. Russia corruption index is almost at par with that of Nigeria and here we are jubilating over the wealth of a president whose federal salary does not justify the expensive acquisitions he is making. You laud Putin's corrupt toga while you condemn the Tinubus, Atikus and even Buhari. You are not well o, if you didn't know. |
toffyz:What she typed was more or less like a tribalistic comment, even though it might be true. She said Nigeria would have been a great country if not for some id*ots she shares the country with. |
efighter:Lol, None of the above you listed. According to the person you quoted, the idiots are the "Nord" Go figure. |
This is one of my frustrations with Buhari's Govt. Nigerian Customs will not implement any executive order until it receives a formal directive from the Minister of Finance and I am sure that's what is happening here. Even if it takes 2months after the Presidential order to get the Ministry's directive, Customs will not implement until then. Makes me wonder whether Customs president is Buhari's or the Finance Minister. |
Kilishihunter:Lol, as in the guy sef na big joker |
This one will not reach front page. But if it's Messi that misses a penalty to deny his team a win, it's sure to be displayed in size 250 fonts on FP. Penaldo will always be Penaldo, he only gave Messi a head start this season in the number of penalties played (5). Now baba has equalised to claim his birthright. Note that Messi has been largely criticized in all quarters for scoring 5 penalties this season. This proves that penalties have a much lower standing than open play goals when it comes to assessing a player's individual brilliance and impact on the team. Even the commentators yesterday kept saying this is his fifth penalty in his last three matches and suggested that his actual performance over this period have been mediocre and masked by the penalties he scored. Of course, CR7 fans will rather play ostrich in the sand and be calling someone goat on account of penalties something previously unheard of. Their own standard of football brilliance has been lowered to an abysmal level. You need to see the way I cringed each time when Messi was awarded yet another penalty earlier in the season cause I knew that was only covering up the cracks. |
Nbotee:Vex wetin, they should count themselves lucky that he was found worthy enough to be in the company of the top three GOATs (MMP) just like Xavi. |
peterdrock001:. Actually, Fury made this statement on AJ about 10 years ago. So it's somewhat prophetic, that he will be fighting him in a real match and not during sparring. |
FuckThaMod:Lol, the thing dey pain you die, unrepentant hater. The good thing is opinions like yours don't matter. You can't be more catholic than the pope. You are not more Nigerian than Anthony Joshua or Israel Adesanya both of whom grew up in 9ja and publicly and frequently identify themselves with Nigeria and the Yoruba culture. Stay pained hombre! |
kendrick93:Burna is half-yoruba. Patoranking won the award against Yoruba contestants. So perish the conspiracy theory. Since more Yoruba singers have traditionally made more waves in the Nigerian music industry, it's only logical that they'd constitute more of the winners. |
Liposure:Omo can't get that song out of my mouth ehn, I so much love it. |
tico1212:Lol, I think it's "Ninu Ikoko" a 1993 film. He was a thug in the movie. |
tico1212:I've modified my initial comment. Pls read it again. |
tico1212:You didnt call it well. It's Kura Matete. And boy wasn't he quite handsome back then |
mujibson:Wow, didn't know. I ate there about 2years ago in IB. Do you know her cause of death? |
It's been good for better work life balance, but bad for maintaining optimal level of physical fitness and postural issues. That's been my main challenge. |
webmaster99:Nice quote. But of what relevance to topic ![]() |
Rossi's hattrick against Brazil was considered one of the all-time world cup performances ever. He bossed the 1982 World cup when Maradona was still an immature fledgling. RIP Legend. |
She's obviously still pained Messi is considered greater than her brother. But she goofed this one bringing up an imaginary picture obviously created by a fan. In reality, it's Ronaldo who kneels before Messi as he bows in admiration at Messi putting the ball into the net.

Oyinlomobambam:You will make it through in Jesus name. |
Beverlyjean:I hear you o. But at least those that you mentioned, Messi and Sand still scored open play goals that required some level of brilliance and not penalties in those games you mentioned. However, the penalties yesterday did not require CR7 to do anything other than score those penalties and I have no problem with that. The only thing I have a genuine issue with is screaming about it as if it was the basis for an exceptional performance when in reality it wasn't. Even Arsenal reject, Aaron Ramsey terrorised the Barça defence way more than Ronaldo and that demonstrates the total defensive incompetence of Barça. I am not naive to the fact that Messi's individual brilliance yesterday would be swallowed up by Barça's collective scandalous display and as such I don't expect accolades for Messi when his team lost woefully. But what is equally hypocritical is the over-exaggeration of CR7's penalties. If the roles were reversed, I would be worried by Messi's lack of other input apart from the penalties against a torrid defence. So I acknowledge that CR7 trumped Messi yesterday on the basis of results. But it was nothing close to "outshining" on an individual level. |
Lol, Juventus had better not be deceived, this current Barcelona side will make any decent team other than Ferencscravos believe that they are exceptional. In pure footballing terms, Messi was a class better than every other player on the pitch yesterday including CR7. He dictated play, played three key passes, had a whopping 11 shots, with Buffon in very good form, dribbled through the Juventus players effortlessly time and time again. Someone else on the pitch then scores two penalties in the game with no further meaningful contribution and you think he outshines a pure footballer I described above, you obviously a football dunce if you think this way. The only reason Messi did not get the man of the match yesterday was because he was on the losing side and that speaks to the cross he has to bear with this terrible Barça team who are completely non-existent defensively. I and many others did not see Messi's penalty scored against Juve in the first leg as a big deal, even though he had more delightful contributions apart from the penalty in that game. If anything, Messi has been consistently criticized this season in many quarters for having too many penalty goals. For now, this is Messi's cross until he leaves. Congrats to Juve and CR7. Other teams should expect their bonuses from Barça as well. |
pocohantas:Poco! You have kee me yakata with your sense of humour! Sare wa gba indeed. I see you have now embraced more of realism over your previous sarcasm approach. |
Dubai Globe Awards (Where CR7 has a personal stake in) , Marca (Real Madrid Newspaper), Salah ?? This award na wash. Are they telling me that between 2001 - 2020, Salah has been overall better than Neymar, Zidane, Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Suarez, Kaka, Figo, Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Eto'o, Thierry Henry, Lewandoswski, Aguero, Xavi, Robben? Again, this award lacks genuine credibility and has CR7 Arabian ass-licking written all over it. |
Got my first very good job 2 years after I finished NYSC. Worked as a teacher for a year before then and was doing a lot of self development programs immediately after my NYSC. |
Beverlyjean:I don't know why I always like your comments outside of football. This is another of your very sensible comments on this thread I just liked. Hmm, I wish I could like it one thousand more times as it's dripping premium sense. Almost tempted to tell you to avoid the sports section and love your CR7 in silence. |
Quite a few. Dangote Desmond Elliott Uti Naeto-C Bovi Teju Babyface Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo) Baba Wande Bukky wright Frank Edoho Kemi-Lala Akindoju Mofe-Duncan Chi-gurl Blossom Chukwujekwu Met most of them at corporate events while I bumped into few of them unexpectedly at the supermarket, hotel, etc. Didn't feel awestruck at meeting them, other than Dangote. |
This guy is very courageous and deserves the awards. To think that despite his work, he was also the main guy who coordinated Sola Fagorusi's eventual release from kidnappers after spending one month in captivity. Congrats bro. |
The lady doesn't look happy in all the pictures, despite getting married to a fine young man. |
