Ronaldo won a personal battle but lost the war |
Ronaldo won a personal battle but lost the war. While Ronaldo might have performed well against Lyon in the second leg, it doesn't take away the fact that he's had a disappointing UCL season on a personal level with just 4 goals in total. In the first instance, Lyon should have been there for his taking judging from their different pedigrees and this Lyon side finished 7th in the just concluded French league. After all, Messi scored 2 goals and 2 assists in a single game against a stronger Lyon side last season that had Nabil Fekir as its chief protagonist and finished 3rd in the French Lique last season, and it really wasn't much of a fuss. So in all, when you put all the facts into context, Juventus, and Ronaldo failed badly on the continent this season, without excuses |
Angelfrost:No, it's not a miracle Juventus won the Serie A. Stop making excuses for them. Nobody wins a league competition of 38 games with 4 games to go by a miracle. You have missed out the big picture, the main facts, while focusing on the irrelevancies. The truth is the Serie A is currently the lowest in quality of the big Five leagues. Juventus, the champions got eliminated by Lyon that finished seventh in the supposed Farmer's league over 2 legs. Inter milan, the second best team in the Serie A was eliminated at the group stage, with Barca beating them both home and away. Man City destroyed Serie As brightest prospect "Atalanta" 5-1 during the group stages. All these facts are a pointer to the declining quality of the Serie A as a whole. This supposedly shambolic Juve team were good enough to win the Serie A with 4 games to spare (shows that other teams were shambolic as well). But when they come up against better quality outside the Serie A, they fell short. While Ronaldo might have performed well against Lyon in the second leg, it doesn't take away the fact that he's had a disappointing UCL season on a personal level with just 4 goals. In the first instance, Lyon should have been there for his taking judging from their different pedigrees. After all, Messi scored 2 goals and 2 assists in a single game against a stronger Lyon side last season that had Nabil Fekir as its chief protagonist and finished 3rd in the French Lique last season, and it really wasn't much of a fuss. SmartPolician:Duh, Ned Nwoko and Adams Oshiomole say hi |
Beverlyjean:You make so much sense whenever CR7's handsomeness isn't blocking your insight. And I am one those who liked your comment above, regardless of our clashes in the sports section. Please try to be consistent in the rational thinking that you've displayed in other sections when relating with others in the sports section. Meanwhile, the video was very funny. The wife kept removing layers upon layers of useless nylons out of the gift bag in anticipation of the wondrous gift from her boo, keeping her suspense heightened as each unfortunate nylon exited the bag . The husband deserves a ballon d'or for serving a nice dish of Karma in a most ingenious manner. For those saying it could have been a swap at birth by a nurse, there's no way that could have been the case, because if you observe the wife's reaction well, you'd notice that she already knew about it and did not vehemently deny the guy's accusation, as she would have done if it were false. |
Morale of the story: Get your sex tape leaked and see the wonders of God |
Beverlyjean:I knew it. Your lack of coherent reasoning is alarming! You are just mixing up different irrelevant events in a pitiful attempt at making sense. How can you say Man City escaped with a draw in a game that the Home team (Atalanta) was supposed to win to qualify, if they were as good as you say, against a Man City side that had ALREADY QUALIFIED for the knockout stages Even the second string barca side that had already qualified beat a desperate Inter team on their own turf.Season by season, some teams are different in strength. The Valencia of 2018/2019 that beat Barca is not the same in strength as the 2019/2020 Valencia that Atalanta beat, just as the Barca of 2018/2019 is stronger than Barca of 2019/2020. Valencia qualified for the UCL in 2018/2019 while they were a lowly 9TH in 2019/2020 and couldn't qualify for UCL. So, can you now see the utter stupidity in your attempt to belabor Atalanta's victory over Valencia this season? And your last point which is unfortunately no point at all, So CR dragged Juventus to where they are now Abeg, where were they before?? A team that had won Serie A for the last 8 consecutive years?? What new height has CR taken them too?? Abi is it not now sef that they are churning their worst UCL performances in the last decade. It's official, there's a vacuum upstairs in yours truly. Even slowpoke.s are not this daft.I will continue to school you until you get sense by force. |
bayelsaowei:Lol, true bro, don't mind them. Always turning logic upside down. Always displaying an abysmal understanding of the principles of great football. It's like football began in year 2007 to them and is therefore based on statistics. By their logic, Gerd Muller is greater than Ronaldo De Lima, since he has scored way more goals than De Lima and has also won all the significant trophies (World cup, UCL, German league). Even Romario is greater than De Lima based on their warped reasoning. |
Nbotee:Yeah sure, CR's competition are EPL rejects or average strikers (Lukaku and Immobile). |
TruthHurts100:How will he be in competition with someone who has been recognized as the greater footballer than him, someone who has won more world player of the year awards than him? He never reach. He should go and keep dragging with his fellow journeymen like Ibrahimovic. There's is no rule in the football book that says not winning anything outside Barca is a disadvantage. It's only a figment of the imagination of CR's fans invented solely for the purpose of discrediting Messi. Do you know why it was never brought up when evaluating soccer GOATs, because it's about the footprints a player has left in football. And your logic does not make sense at all. After all, Higuaín, former La liga champion at Real Madrid, has also won the same Seria A this season na, so he is also Messi's boss based on your twisted football logic. While you may be the perfect case study for daft reasoning, I'm willing to go the extra mile for you to acquire sense by force. |
Rilwayne001:Sorry, there's is no rule in the football book that says what you are saying. It's only a figment of the imagination of CR's fans invented solely for the purpose of discrediting Messi. Do you know why it was never brought up when evaluating soccer GOATs, because it does not make sense at all. However, if that's what you keep carrying on your head, go and drag it with Ibrahimovic then. After all, Higuaín, former La liga champion at Real Madrid, has also won the same Seria A this season na, so he is also Messi's boss based on your twisted football logic. |
majamajic:Messi scored 14 penalty goals in the league OUT OF 50 total league goals. That means he scored a whopping 36 non-penalty league goals in a single season. 36 non-penalty league goals alone is an outstanding statistic. CR has scored only 19 non-penalty league goals this season, same as Benzema and definitely not an outstanding statistic. That's my point. In summary, the proportion of penalties Messi scored to his total goal haul (17 pens out of 73goals) is way lower than CR's (14 pens out of 34goals). That's why we are saying CR7's goals this season have been stats-padded. |
Congrats to CR7 for the title win. All win na win sha. Just to bear in mind that, if it was Aubameyang or even Danny Ings that went to Juve last season, they both would have also won the Scudetto twice. Such is the dominance of the Juventus machinery over its Serie A competitors. Even Sarri, with his supposedly poor tactics (an accusation from CR7 fans), and who has never won a league trophy before, could not deny Juve of their 9th successive Serie A title even if he wanted. And CR7 had better stay with Juve to boost his stats-padding with his penalty legacy, because the Serie A awards penalties like no other league does, due to their bizarre VAR rules on hand-balls. He has already taken 14 penalties in the league alone this season and missed two. Even Immobile has also taken 14 penalties and scored all 14 (I think). No wonder the Serie A is currently a striker's haven. When a whopping 40% of your total goals come from penalties, what other kind of easy gifts are you then looking for? I will beg anybody that wants to reply me to please respond with sense, as I have no strength to be upgrading people's IQ on a Monday |

Beverlyjean:Delusions of grandeur. It's funny how you so much believe in your own lies. How can the Serie A of today be tougher than 4 to six years ago? At 4 - 6 years ago, Juventus were regular UCL semi-finalists or finalists. The 2014 - 2016 Juventus team that had Pogba, Vidal, Pirlo, Prime Mandzukic, Dybala, Tevez, Morata, Giovinco, Kingsley Coman were way better than this current Juve team that can't go past the UCL quarterfinal against the likes of Ajax, and finding it tough against Lyon and averagely good UCL teams. Another of your lies? Imagine Juve's closest competition this season, Inter Milan, were beaten Home and Away by a struggling Barca team this season. It was Barca's second string side (Ansu Fati, Perez and Co) that defeated Inter at the San siro. So why are you then lying that Barca only beat Inter once? Your almighty Atalanta was comprehensively destroyed by Man City (5-1) in the UCL this season. Even the Roma of 3 years ago that beat Barca is much stronger than the current Roma side that couldn't even make the UCL knockout phase. Abeg, find another lie about the strength of Juve's competition this season biko. I know you will still go ahead and reply me with a dim-witted response. By the way, congratulations to CR7 and the Juventus team for winning the obviously average Seria A league yet again. |

OndoFirstBorn:No they are not in this context. Mineral resources are normally exploited not explored. Only exploitation is correct. |
nwajesus12:We all learn everyday. |
nwajesus12:Is there anything wrong with the use of the term? Mineral deposits are exploited na. Or is it exploration that's in your mind? Exploitation is absolutely correct in this context. |
Hazardfan1: You are wicked. But you cannot blame a guy for trying. Isn't that what y'all redpills preach about, "aim for the stars and land on the moon kinda talk. Are all those "you can get any girl no matter how you look" and all that shit not applicable here?Laycorn for the money |
Y'all Stanners better pray that the show isn't suspended abruptly. There is currently an ongoing agenda from the broadcasting authorities to cancel the show on account of Covid 19 risks. |
Beverlyjean:Please stop with incessant personal abuse on him. What's wrong with your ilk and a lack of social decorum? He aired his opinion without insulting you. You should be smart enough to do same! |
What's this confused CR7 fan trying to achieve with this? The facts as at today remains as follows: Messi has scored 90 penalties out of 116 attempts CR7 has scored 125 penalties out of 149 attempts Conclusion: CR7 is a better penalty taker and a better stats padder! However, he can never be the GOAT on account of penalty prowess. GOATs have very high standards that cannot be watered down by penalties. We reject every attempt by CR7 fans to crash the standards for supreme football brilliance with penalty considerations. |
Maxymilliano:My brother, it was a Ponderous collapse! ![]() |
Congratulations to Liverpool |
GboyegaD:I know you are trying to sound balanced but to be honest your second paragraph above is impractical and quite infuriating, and I'm a very objective person. Your analogies are totally misplaced. You have totally missed the crux of the matter which is the pull-down attitude of the wives to the husbands who financed them, after they've made it. Using the example you gave, because you now earn way much money than your parents who sent you to school and raised you, is the next thing to begin to oppress them by stripping them of everything they hold dear to them Is this how normal people respond to parents who raised them How can you trivialize this??If you noticed, the affected men in the story appear to be ordinary responsible looking men with no criminal profile. That should tell you that something terrible has consistently happened to unhinge them and they snapped! Please learn to analyze issues critically before pontificating in an attempt to sound politically correct. No one is saying murder is good. In fact all the killer husbands knew this but damned the consequences anyway because they had nothing to lose. |
safarigirl:I agree with this. Also, if I were to compare their personal styles, I'd say IK presents in a more spontaneous, wittier and more entertaining style than Ebuka. Ebuka on the other hand appears more business-minded and by-the-book in his manner of presenting. Although, Ebuka also appears to be the more knowledgeable of the two due to his good grasp of a wide variety of topics. |
proyeise:He has earned it. Someone that is the highest penalties scorer of all time. If he doesn't stake his claim as Penaldo then who will? And regardless of our trophy loss this season, Barca has been beating your darling RM messilessly within this past few years o. Show some respect man and stop calling us dogs, except you're giving us that moniker because you've still not recovered from the big bites we've been giving you over the years (5 -0, 4-0, 5-0 comes to mind) .We deserve some respect bro! |
safarigirl:Did you mean Tatiana instead of Tawana? |
