Drama in Ogbomosho as graduate of LAUTECH visited the school to return his certificate and get a refund of the fees he paid because he's suffering

A yet-to-be-identified man has been captured on camera visiting the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomosho, Oyo State, to return his certificate, while demanding a refund of the money he spent during his studentship.

The man said he wanted a refund of his school fees because he had been suffering since the time he graduated from school and the certificate had not yielded him any financial gain since he acquired it.

"Give me my money, I am suffering," the man lamented repeatedly in a video posted by Linda Ikeji media.

His case is not strange in Nigeria.

At the beginning of the year, Statista released a report forecasting the unemployment rate in Nigeria for 2022. The report estimated the unemployment rate in the year at nearly 33%, a 0.5 increase from the previous year at 32.5%.

Also, in 2020, Nigeria’s statistics bureau, NBS, said in its unemployment report that about half of the nation’s 76,562 doctorate degree holders within the labour force were either jobless or underemployed. This report means that having a school certificate, up to a doctorate level, does not guarantee employment in Nigeria.

This data has been recycled in other reports on unemployment in Nigeria even though the recent massive migration of young talents to well-developed countries to seek gainful employment points to the escalating unemployment crisis in the country.

Since 2014, Nigeria’s working-age population’s unemployment rate has spiked drastically, leading to a massive efflux of skilled workers and migrants from Nigeria over the last few years.

A tweep, Dinchi, has shared the experience of some Nigerians, who were detained at the airport in Dubai with their passports seized.

Dinchi, who shared video and photo from the scene claimed that the incident happened on Wednesday.

She tweeted, “This is the situation happening with Nigerians arriving Dubai today 31st August 2022. Detained and our passports seized. Help!”

“Is it a crime to be Nigerian? How can a visa be issued to you and then you get held at the airport without information?

“My sister had to go through immigration to get me released. It was a tedious process. Others are still there and I don't know their status. What happens if you have no family here? Nobody knows what is going on,” she added.

IGP suspends sexy female police officers for Impersonation and violation of social media policy

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has suspended two Supernumerary Police Officers, with immediate effect, for breach of the provisions of the Police Act, 2020, and The Nigeria Police Guidelines for Recruitment/Promotion/Discipline of Supernumerary Police (SPY) 2013 by the Inspector-General of Police, as captured in a video posted by one of the officers in a viral video on August 3, 2022.

The officers went viral recently after videos of them looking sexy in and out of their uniforms went viral.

A statement released by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi says

''By the combined effects of the Police Act, 2020 and the Nigeria Police Guidelines for Recruitment/Promotion/Discipline of Supernumerary Police (SPY),2013 was established solely to complement the services of regular Police Officers when needed by Ministries, Departments and Agencies/Multi-National Companies, and Banks who make requests and upon approval pay for their training and cover their emoluments for the period of their engagement. (Sections 21-24 of the Police Act, 2020).

It is equally important to mention that in line with Section 25 (2) (3) of the Police Act, 2020 and the Nigeria Police Guidelines for Recruitment/Promotion/Discipline of Supernumerary Police (SPY), 2013issued by the Inspector-General of Police (Guidelines for SPYs), the mode of dressing of SPY police mandates its SPY officers above the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police not to wear uniforms. Similarly, extant laws delineate the Supernumerary uniform. It states that they must be on their approved uniform, ash coloured shirt with “SPY” inscriptions all over, over black with shoulder badge carrying the word “SUPERNUMERARY”. Supernumerary Officers adorning police black, neon blue or camouflage uniforms run afoul of the law and would be adequately sanctioned.

The suspended supernumerary officers – Obaze Blessing with SPY number 5709, and Obaze Emmanuella Uju with SPY number 5708, adorned themselves in conventional police officers’ uniforms contrary to the code regulating the SPY service."[sub][/sub]
