walex2:Those are the matters we should be discussing, not a non existent missing funds. Now to the matter, who constituted the tenders board? Is the composition of such board not subject to the rules of federal character? If it is, what is the federal character commission and presidency doing about any allegation as to the impropriety of the current composition of the board? Is there no senate or reps committee on the oil industry that can check the excesses that may exist in the NNPC, including who has authority or not to approve contracts beyond certain thresholds. |
Patient with a man that has disciplinary reports on his desk, yet so casual and lackadaisical about implementing them ? Or is the corrupt judiciary impeding his own executive actions within the presidency? Any President who has decided that failure is desirable, we the people must ensure we send him back to his village. Otuoke received their son in disgrace, Daura will receive their own too in 2019. Sai Baba! is now Nay Baba! |
comshots:But Kachikwu has not alleged that those contracts did not exist. He has only challenged his non-involvement in the approval process. An approval NNPC has insisted they did not require. Kachikwu himself is the head of the NNPC board, and he also recommended firms for contracts, and his recommendations were found to be objective and conforming to due process, so they were considered. Kachikwu made his own arguments, while NNPC and Baru also made theirs. Nobody has accused anyone of theft or missing money or ghost contracts. Yes the process employed has been challenged, but it was defended with documentary evidence of existing regulations that Baru did not invent. Baru does not regard Kachikwu's supervisory authority, while Kachikwu insists he has authority. That is the subject of the debate. |
This is good. |
BigIyanga:Sanusi claimed that monies that should accrue did not accrue from sales of petroleum resources made. It was simple mathematics which was absurdly unknown to the finance minister whose job it should be. She eventually did her own mathematics and revised the value of un-accrued funds to $10b. In this current case, no one has even made accusation that funds were missing or did not accrue or that the contracts did not exist. Kachikwu simple highlighted claims that he was being sidelined and his approvals were not sought. As per sidelining, NNPC has demonstrated with evidence how Kachikwu made recommendations on some companies, and how those firms were considered based on objectivity. Or are those Kachikwu's cronies you mean, since he recommended those firms? As per approvals, NNPC has maintained that it did not require Kachikwu's approval. And they have provided documentary evidence to defend their own position that due process does not require Kachikwu's input. They have no apology to give on that matter, and the contracts remain valid without Kachikwu's input as Junior Minister and NNPC board chairman. They have also gone a step further to show that Kachikwu assigned fictitious figures to some "non-project" contracts. It is obvious to the rational minded that this is a clear power tussle between Kachikwu as de facto minister, and NNPC who only regard the de jure minister. If the president does not clearly define Kachikwu's position and also surrender the de jure minister position to him, this accusations of sidelining and insubordination will continue. So if no stakeholder has alleged missing funds, who are you to make allegations? Who are you referencing in your allegations, because I have referenced Sanusi and Okonjo-Iweala? Or do you know the allegations more than the author of the memo that started the debate, and who has made an effort to rehabilitate those who are unable to reason beyond PDP's narrative of missing funds? |
AlanSugar:Na Princely I wan type ooo. |
Spylord48:In presidential democracy, the chief of staff to a president or governor is the chief aide to the president/governor and he coordinates the activities of that principal. So submitting a report to the chief of staff is like submitting it to the president himself. And yes, the chief of staff is by default the most powerful official in the presidency, who can easily isolate a president that wants to be isolated. |
BigIyanga:Show me one sentence or phrase in Kachikwu's memo where he claims that money is missing or ghost contracts were awarded. Atleast we all agree that Kachikwu authored the memo, so do you know more than the author of the memo who has taken time out to clarify what his allegations were about, before a decayed PDP and its vast unrepentant agents of doom tried to change the substance of the debate into missing money, in a desperate bid to hand over the baton of shame they currently hold as regards missing funds? That Kachikwu is a well educated lawyer makes him to know what exactly his allegations border on, as opposed to the missing money narrative your type insist must be the substance of an allegation never made. Also being well educated in law or experienced in senior management of ExxonMobil at an international level, doesn't make Kachiwu more vast in his knowledge of NNPC procedures than Baru who is a career civil servant in that industry and agency and knows the inside workings more than Kachikwu who resumed as NNPC GMD as an outsider. If Kachikwu raised facts, did Baru raise fiction with all the documented regulations the NNPC PR team provided to defend their own argument? The Petroleum industry unions who supported Baru in this debate, are they ignorant like me too? Kachikwu might have good intentions behind the memo, but he certainly underestimated Baru's knowledge, or he overestimated his own knowledge about how NNPC works. And Baru made sure to cleverly insult him on his limited knowledge regarding some of the allegations he made. |
comshots:Stick to factual matters, there is no missing $25b nor non-existing contract awarded by NNPC. Stop inventing scandals that do not exist. No single stakeholder in the petroleum industry has made allegations of any missing money or ghost contracts. Learn to understand what a debate is about before contributing an aimless opinion on the matter. The NNPC debate concerns abuse of power and insubordination allegations. Allegations that NNPC has already defended with evidence to suggest Kachikwu did not have the powers he thought he had, as such his approval was not required, and where higher approvals were required, they were at a level higher than Kachikwu's post as Junior Minister / NNPC board chairman. NNPC has maintained its stand, while Kachikwu has maintained his own, and both sides have agreed to differ and move on. Kachikwu who authored the memo has already clarified this matter about false assertions of missing funds, but it seems you are a soldier who has been mobilised to "go" but cannot process "come" once you already set off. I repeat, stick to factual scandals without trying to embellish with false assumptions, an already rich portfolio of real scandals, lest you rubbish what should be an already damning case file. |
It is obvious this scandal started with Abubakar Malami. This Justice Minister that hates the EFCC with so much passion, just like Michael Andoakaa of the Yar Adua cabal. |
cyrilamx:I quite agree that his non-resignation saved a lot of chaos. Now that he knows that he is sick, and we know his incapable of running a government, should he be having any interest in running again? He should pack and go once we get to 2019, so a more buoyant and effective president who is fully aware of all that is happening around him/her, can emerge. |
cyrilamx:The more reason why he should resign and let a legitimate government be in charge, not a government from the sick bed with cabals running the show. He appointed those men into office after 6 good months, only to appoint those who would destroy his legacy. |
Alaniyiokorausa:Those ones have since fallen inside the gutter. They were programmed to defend, so they were already defending and rationalizing a criminal reinstatement of a fugitive civil servant who has more money than even millionaire businessmen. |
DSS obviously have no business with this case. |
fergie001:I swear Buhari is a wanton disappointment. Like you opined, he has failed himself, not us. From almost being the best civilian president that never was, he is now the mistake that never should have been allowed. He has so effortlessly demystified and unravelled himself as aimless and hopeless. From the medical trips abroad, to the slow response to corruption within the presidency, we have a president who has displayed the worst of the character and attitudes he once criticized. How can the government of the day be in so much disarray simultaneously? Now I remember the retort, "which presidency?". Once again we are on the march, looking for a worthy President a nation can be proud of. |
Hahahaha. The denials have started. The same people whose media aides were trying to rationalise the reinstatement just yesterday are now swallowing their words like how kids swallow indomie. The most ridiculous I heard was from the aide to the Interior minister who claimed that the HoS deployed him to his ministry and so his boss wasn't a party to the reinstatement. A former COAS who is interior minister, yet totally ignorant of the implications of reinstating a man who is still a fugitive and who has not received any form of presidential pardon that could only come after a conviction, yet the moronic Danbazau allowed such to happen under his very nose? Is this the kind of slowpoke it took 6months to appoint as minister? Shouldn't Danbazau have been the one to report this matter to the president? Heads must be severed over this matter. Princely heads for that matter. |
If true, it is an impeachable offence. |
GoroTango:Buhari's courage has disappeared the moment he won the presidency. |
This woman is a good match for a depraved anarchist like FFK. |
greatermax77:I swear, they have finished his integrity. He employed them, he must surely sink with them. |
OZAOEKPE:I swear we need to overhaul ourselves. |
Good job from Sahara and Premiumtimes. |
Ballmer:What was Buhari's reaction after the grass cutting scandal by the SGF? Was it not months later when the NIA dollars was found before both were probed together? Where is the panel report on that probe and when will the recommendations be executed? Will we wait till elections are postponed before executing the recommendations like Jonathan waited to employ the relatives of those who died in the immigration recruitment, based on a promise made over a year before then? Buhari started slowly in the negative, but is now hastily running to eclipse the ignoble records of moronic Jonathan. |
Even the APC government should spare Nigeria this mockery and disengage themselves from power. This is too shameful. This is sacrilegious. This is the end. Why asking for a full report when the report from the Osinbajo panel on SGF and NIA Director are still gathering dust on your table? How long does it take to study a report that has already proffered recommendations? If I was a member of this government, I would resign immediately this morning to save the little that is left of my integrity that has been slowly eroding over the past 2 yrs. Do we need oil prices to rise before we convincingly fight corruption? How does a corrupt judiciary affect corruption existing at the presidency that requires only presidential will to expunge? Who will provide this new report? Will the same VP be tasked with this same useless panel assignment? If I was Osinbajo and tasked with this new panel job, I will demand for the implementation of my previous effort. I fight everyday trying to save this government from a disgrace it readily embraces. Trying to keep anarchists like FFK at bay, yet they easily provide them fodder to work with. Now I can see this government must also be sacked from power. |
APC has become a shameless entity due to certain useless personalities of which Oyegun is chief. From the moment the party failed to get the National Assembly principal officers elections right, the party began to fall apart. |
Obi's explanation is very straightforward. Kudos! However, he has not explained how Obiano managed to owe him N7b and from whose account does he expect Obiano to pay back the money. |
Ok |
The minister of Justice is in office to frustrate the anti-corruption fight. He was appointed by the president who has had many instances of this lack of uprightness in Malami , hence the president is himself responsible for frustrating his own agenda. In the end, there is corruption, but no fight. |
Truly Abaribe should have longed approached the courts to retire his surety the moment Kanu began holding rallies and inaugurating security forces. But Abaribe was a typical politician who hoped to ride on the Kanu popularity among Eastern almajiris. Now all has fallen apart and he has become one of those hated by the IPOB almajiris who are still waiting to be rehabilitated. |
This is bullshit. When did the president decide to unilaterally absolve a wanted fugitive of alleged crimes for which the relevant agencies are still on a manhunt ? Only the court can absolve Maina. |
Sagay said, “This man was accused of embezzling billions of naira meant for pensioners who had spent all their lives serving this country. One man took the money they should rely on in their declining years, subjecting them to misery and hopelessness. This is the end of Buharis corruption fight. Even the president should immediately resign as his first task upon resuming today. He is incredulously clueless like Jonathan. Must we also wait for 1yr to get a responsible action from "Mr Corruption fighter" on the SGF and NIA probe whose reports have since been submitted? This is an embarrassment that reveals the rot within the discordant APC government. I cannot believe that it took 6months to appoint ministers who have no regard for the anti-corruption fight. A minister accepted a fugitive to return because the HoS authorised after advice from a moronic Justice minister, yet he a former COAS, accepted that all was well? This conspiracy is all encompassing, the whole federal government should quit. I give up on Buhari. He is not the messiah I had hoped for. Even he is also in need of saving, as he has mortally destroyed his own government from the inside. |
