koastar: I wonder when i hear of ladies at their late 20s or in their 30s still remain virgins! They often say it is not right to have s*x until after marriage. Please Nairalanders, i want to know if remaining virgin up to such age has any medical implications or complications so as to know if this practice should be discouraged or encouraged and at what age should a girl get to before considering getting disvirgined if not married. huh

Kissing is a universal language that requires no translation....and its very good for your health.

The Top 10 Health Benefits of Kissing... Have been documented in medical studies offering

1. Those who kiss their partner goodbye each morning live five years longer than those who don’t.

2. Kissing is great for self-esteem. It makes you feel appreciated and helps your state of mind.

7. Those who kiss quite frequently are less likely to suffer from stomach, bladder and blood infections.

8. During a kiss, natural antibiotics are secreted in the saliva. Also, the saliva contains a type of anesthetic that helps relieve pain.

Kissing is a universal language that requires no translation....and its very good for your health.

WARNING:
1. PLEASE DON'T KISS ANOTHER MAN'S WIFE.
2. KISSING IS FOR MARRIED COUPLES AND NOT FOR KIDS.
3. GAY OR LESBIAN COUPLES SHOULD KEEP OFF FROM THIS BECAUSE THEY HAVE DONE CONTRARY TO NATURE AND GOD

Celebrities › Re: Toni Braxton’s Skimpy Dress Comes Off, Exposes Her Behind On Stage by Timijo(m): 4:17pm On Aug 19, 2013
FlirtyKaren: Earlier this week, during her concert in New Jersey, very pretty singer and mum of 2, Toni Braxton gave her fans more than they bargained for when she hit the stage.
Whilst belting out her famous tunes, the skirt of the 45-year-old's skimpy metallic dress just fell down, only to expose her bare derriere!!

Unfortunately, Toni who didn't even realize her bum was exposed, turned her back to her fans and was shaking her now bare bum, as the crowd bursted into laughter and cheers.
Toni just kept singing though , until a guy on stage handed her his suit jacket to cover up.

Luckily, she was wearing a nude bodysuit.

This woman is suffering from the spirit of nakednes. How can a 45 years old woman exposed her nakednes in the public like a 2 years old kid? I weep for this woman.

Honestly speaking, Seun Osewa- the CEO of nairaland needs to do something to barnish the people who disregard the president by calling him ridiculous names in their comments and posts. Nairaland has become a medium to insult the president at all time. I am not saying that he should not be criticised but the criticism should be a constructive one. Many people from other countries are reading all these abusive comments and posts about the president, it shows that we don't respect ourselves as a country because if we respect one another it will not be difficult to respect the president. Please, you people should stop tarnishing the image of this country.
@Topic, there is nothing wrong for Obama to invite GEJ for a crucial discussion. It is we that need help and that is why he invites the president to represent us. If U.S needs help from Nigeria today, the president can also invite him to Aso Rock.
Those of you calling him kindergarten boy are proud people. You better learn humility before God humbles you like Nebuchadenazza of Babylon.

Education › Re: Drama In Edo: Teacher Cant Read Her Document by Timijo(m): 11:03am On Aug 14, 2013
dapachez: The verification of certificates of primary school teachers in Edo State ordered by Governor Adams Oshiomhole has started fishing out unworthy teachers, with the discovery of one on Tuesday, who could not read a sworn affidavit tendered as part of her credentials.

The teacher, Mrs. Augusta Odemwinge of Asologun Primary School, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state stuttered as she was asked to read what was written on her affidavit before the state governor.
Oshiomhole, who paid an unscheduled visit to the state Staff Training Centre, venue of the exercise, said “if you can’t read, what do you teach the pupils, what do you write on the board?”
The governor had on arrival at the centre, checked some of the teachers’ credentials and documents presented.
When it was Mrs. Odenwingie’s turn, the governor listened as he asked her to read the affidavit she presented, but she stuttered, to the consternation of everyone present at the venue.

Chairman of the state Nigeria Union of Teachers, Mr. Patrick Ikosimi, who was also at the screening to monitor the exercise, said that the woman’s failure was “an embarrassment.”
Ikosimi, who described Mrs. Odemwingie’s failure to read a document she presented as an embarrassment, said the union was in tune with the state government on the need to sanitise the school system.
“We are committed to partnering the government to reposition education in the state. What this teacher has just displayed is a show of shame; it shows the decadence in the education sector.
“As the chairman of NUT, I had written to the governor that we are in total support of what he is doing.
“He should properly involve the NUT, so that together we can fish out the culprits, who are not viable as far as the system is concerned,” Ikosimi said.

Romance › Parents Refused To Find Out Who Impregnated Their Daughter. by Timijo(op): 5:21pm On Aug 09, 2013
Can parents refuse to find out who impregnated their daughter?
There is a particular girl who was impregnated by her secondary school lover when they attempted to taste the nectar of love prematurely.
When the parents got to know that she is pregnant, one will think that they would find out about the actor in the movie, but they didn't bother to know who was responsible.
The next episode was to send the young girl away to live with a relation in order for them to cover up their shame.
This continue to amaze me, how can they do something like that? They did not even care to know who planted the thing, and the worst of it, is that the footballer is not aware that he has netted the ball into the net when he played the free-kick.
Please, what advice can you offer to this girl?

Christianity Etc › Re: What Did Pope Francis Really Mean By "Who Am I To Judge Gay People"? by Timijo(m): 1:54pm On Jul 30, 2013
shumax: this is a long read but for all those who are interested, it presents the real scenero of what made the pope made such a statement and what it really means
The press is buzzing right now with claims that Pope Francis has taken a sharply different line than his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, on the subject of homosexuality.
Some are suggesting that the new pope has announced that "gay is okay."
What did Pope Francis really say, and how unusual is it?
Here are 7 things to know and share . . .

1) Where did Pope Francis make these remarks?
He made them during an 80-minute interview with reporters aboard the plane returning from World Youth Day in Brazil.

2) What was he asked that led to the remarks?
We may not know exactly what the question was until a transcript is released, but apparently, he was asked about the reputed "gay lobby" at the Vatican.
More info on that here.

3) What exactly did he say?
According to the best current accounts, he said:
There's a lot of talk about the gay lobby, but I've never seen it on the Vatican ID card.
When I meet a gay person, I have to distinguish between their being gay and being part of a lobby. If they accept the Lord and have goodwill, who am I to judge them? They shouldn't be marginalized. The tendency [i.e., same-sex attraction] is not the problem ... they're our brothers.

4) What does this mean?
The first part of the statement seems to downplay the who "gay lobby" issue. He's not denying that there is one there, but he's suggesting that the talk is somewhat overblown.
He then explains his approach to dealing with gay people: He distinguishes between their "being gay" and "being part of a lobby."
What he means by "being gay" is something he further unpacks.
In ordinary parlance, "being gay" can mean anything from having same-sex attraction to leading an active "gay lifestyle" to endorsing and advocating a pro-homosexual ideology.
The last of these would be functioning as a member of a lobby, and he indicates that this is not what he is talking about.
He then describes those he is talking about as people who "accept the Lord and have goodwill."
He then seems to further clarify who he is talking about by saying that "The tendency [i.e., same-sex attraction] is not the problem ... they're our brothers."
Taking his statements together, what emerges is a portrait of individuals who have same-sex attraction but who nevertheless accept the Lord and have goodwill, as opposed to working to advance a pro-homosexual ideology.
This would definitely include people with same-sex attraction who strive to live chastely (even if they sometimes fail).
It also, possibly, could include individuals who are not living chastely but who are not actively lobbying a homosexual agenda. It would be nice if he'd said a little more to clarify the point further.

5) What does he say about people in this category?
He says that he does not think he is in a position to judge them and that they should not be marginalized.
He also says that the mere tendency (same-sex attraction) "is not the problem," and that "they're our brothers."

6) How new is this?
Not very.
Disclaiming a right to "judge" others is something that goes back to Jesus. It does not mean a failure to recognize the moral character of others' actions, however.
One can form a moral appraisal that what someone else is doing is wrong (Jesus obviously does not forbid that) without having or showing malice toward them.
The statement that they should not be marginalized is similarly in keeping with the Holy See's approach to the subject, as 1992 Vatican document On the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons.
The statement that same-sex attraction "is not the problem," when understood correctly, is also nothing new. "The problem," as Pope Francis seems to here be understanding it, is going beyond merely having a sinful tendency--a temptation to which one is subject.
Obviously, temptations are problem, but if we resist temptation we do not sin. "The problem," on this understanding, is giving into the temptation and sinning or--worse--building an ideology around the sin and trying to advocate the sin.
Finally, the statement that "they're our brothers" is also no novelty. Christians, like everyone, have struggled with every sort of temptation all through history.
Same-sex attraction is just one temptation among numerous others, and the fact that a person suffers from this temptation no more deprives him of the status of being a brother in Christ than any other temptation does.

Health › Re: Habits That Wrecks Your Teeth by Timijo(m): 12:04pm On Jul 29, 2013
demmy55: There are certain things we do on a regular basis which cause havoc to our teeth. These habits may be intentional or unintentional. They include:

Chewing on Ice
It’s natural and sugar free, so you might think ice is harmless. But munching on hard, frozen cubes can chip or even crack your teeth. And if your mindless chomping irritates the soft tissue inside a tooth, regular toothaches may follow. Hot foods and cold foods may trigger quick, sharp jabs of pain or a lingering toothache. Next time you get the urge for ice, chew some sugarless gum instead.

Playing Sports with No Mouth Guard
Whether you play football, hockey, or any other contact sport, don't get in the game without a mouth guard. This is a piece of molded plastic that protects the upper row of teeth. Without it, your teeth could get chipped or even knocked out when the action gets rough. Self-fitting mouth guards may be purchased at a store, or you can have one custom made by your dentist.

Bedtime Bottles
It’s never too early to protect teeth. Giving a baby a bedtime bottle of juice, milk, or formula, can put new teeth on a path to decay. The baby may become used to falling asleep with the bottle in his or her mouth, bathing the teeth in sugars overnight. It's best to keep bottles out of the crib.

Tongue Piercings
Tongue piercings may be trendy, but biting down on the metal stud can crack a tooth. Lip piercings pose a similar risk. And when metal rubs against the gums, it can cause gum damage that may lead to tooth loss. The mouth is also a haven for bacteria, so piercings raise the risk of infections and sores. Bottom line, discuss the health risks with your dentist first.

Grinding Teeth
Teeth grinding, or bruxism, can wear teeth down over time. It is most often caused by stress and sleeping habits. This makes it hard to control. Avoiding hard foods during the day can reduce pain and damage from this habit. Wearing a mouth guard at night can prevent grinding while sleeping.

Soda
Candy isn't the only culprit when it comes to added sugar. Sodas can have up to 11 teaspoons of sugar per serving. To add insult to injury, sodas also contain phosphoric and citric acids, which eat away at tooth enamel. Diet soft drinks let you skip the sugar, but they may have even more acid in the form of the artificial sweeteners.

Opening Stuff with Your Teeth
Opening bottle caps or plastic packaging with your teeth may be convenient, but this is one habit that makes dentists cringe. Using your teeth as tools can cause them to crack or chip. Instead, keep scissors and bottle openers handy. Bottom line, your teeth should only be used for eating.

Sports Drinks
There's no doubt a cold sports drink is refreshing after a good workout. But these drinks are usually high in sugar. Like soda or candy, sugary sports drinks create an acid attack on the enamel of your teeth. Drinking them frequently can lead to decay. A better way to stay hydrated at the gym is to chug sugar-free, calorie-free water.

Chewing on Pencils
Do you ever chew on your pencil when concentrating on work or studies? Like crunching on ice, this habit can cause teeth to chip or crack. Sugarless gum is a better option when you feel the need to chew. It will trigger the flow of saliva, which can make teeth stronger and protect against enamel-eating acids.

Drinking Coffee
Coffee's dark color and acidity can cause yellowing of the teeth over time. Fortunately, it's one of the easiest stains to treat with various whitening methods. Talk to your dentist if you're concerned about discoloration of your teeth.

Smoking
Cigarettes, as well as other tobacco products, can stain teeth and cause them to fall out as a result of gum disease. Tobacco can also cause cancer of the mouth, lips, and tongue. If you were looking for one more reason to quit, think of your smile.

Drinking Red Wine
The acids in wine eat away at tooth enamel, creating rough spots that make teeth more vulnerable to staining. Red wine also contains a deep pigment called chromogen and tannins, which help the color stick to the teeth. This combination makes it easy for the wine's red color to stay with you long after your glass is empty.

In essence, making any of these a habit can be harmful to our teeth.
