PoliticsRe: All Federal Roads In The South-East Are Dilapidated by Tinyemeka(m): 2:47pm On Oct 02, 2012
control_seven: PH-Aba road is a death trap! Aba-Umuahia road is a nightmare! Umuahia-Enugu road is like a trip to hell. Enugu-Onitsha road is an abandoned project!
Our govt, past & present are collective failures!!
Ha!!! Say that again!
Just Monday Oct 1st during my trip from Umuahia to Enugu (for most of the journey between Umuahia and Okigwe), I saw hell. They were no longer pot-holes but man-holes. Pits measuring 3 feet deep. For goodness sake on an expressway. For the first time in my life, I got stuck in a hole, that my two front wheels were no longer touching the ground. In the middle of nowhere, believe me, it is a terrifying experience.

After the cattle market at Lokpanta, there was another traffic jam, caused by terrible mud ditches they call roads. Again, the car got stuck.

My thought is that all these ministers and legislators always travel by air. So they hardly know the pains that motorists go through when travelling these roads. It is too bad.

Again, why is it that the conditions of the roads change dramatically, once you cross the Abia-Enugu border? Why? What special magic did Enugu do, that Abia and Okigwe (Imo) can't do?

Car TalkRe: What To Do If You See A Pothole At 100km/hr Speed Or Above? by Tinyemeka(m): 7:36pm On Sep 28, 2012
It happened to me once along Enugu-PH expressway, just before Okigwe.
I had a very bad headache then and couldn't concentrate on the driving. My speed was 140km/h. The hole just appeared out of nowhere and stretched to both sides of the road.

I just reacted by instinct: both sides of the road were to deep for me to swerve off-road. I simply slammed on the brakes and dove into the pothole. The force was too much and burst my front, left wheel. Once I cleared the hole, I released the brake and focused on steering and bringing the car back to control. The rim also suffered a dent. As God would have it, there was no oncoming vehicle ahead or behind me. But the experience really scared me. Funnily, the headache also disappeared miraculously.

I find it absurd driving at 80km/hr on the expressway. Territory be known or unknown.

Looking at the replies here, I've realised that a lot of posters think marriage is all about the wedding and honeymoon. After that, they'd continue the life-pattern they'd been used to, pre-wedding: wake up in the morning, 'hi, honey. Slept well?', exchange pecks, prepare for work, skip breakfast and dash off.

There is still a lot to be learnt. Common sense is not common.

control_seven: Why would u care? U're not the person involved in this case. Have u been truly in love? Love can be crazy. It conquers all!
Love can't put food on the table. It can't get the children ready for school at 6:45 in the morning. It won't make the children at 5 yrs realise that they are not meant to watch programmes rated 18+. And I can confidently tell you that love or the maid can't keep the house organized the way the family head would want it.

I have two questions to ask about this girl? What had she been doing all her growing years when her mum prepared meals? Or the mum also made use of maids?

she is actually the first lady i will ever love with my whole heart as i always dream of keeping her as a wife. But the problem am having with her is that she can't cook, she can't prepare any meal at all and she's also very lazy when it comes to domestic works
I'm confused. How exactly does she show care? Phone calls, kisses and cash?

Please explain.

You just said yourself that she's lazy on the home front.

Honestly, there is a BIG difference between a lady who can take care of the home while you are away. And one who delegates your children's welfare to the maid. Bro, honestly, there is a very big difference.

It's your choice to make.

On a side note, I was amused to note the number of earlier posters who were quick to offer the suggestion of getting a maid. smiley Well what can I say? It tallies with the quality of their regular posts. smiley Sorry O. Don't bite me.

emindu: THERE comes a time in the history of a people when God blesses them with a leader with a particular mandate. For the people of Abia, aptly called God’s Own State, there is every indication that the supplication of the people unto their Maker for a divine lifting of afflicted yoke caused by long period of political and economic slavery has attracted divine intervention.
The result today is a true reflection of the Biblical saying that when the righteous are on the throne, the people rejoice. For Governor Theodore Orji, under whose administration the state has seen the total paradigm shift in both governance and content of service delivery, the abundance of God’s mercy upon him and the mandate cannot be over-emphasised.
.
Bla bla bla. When someone wants to lie like this, s/he employs colourful grammar in an attempt to divert the readers from true facts on the state of things. Disinformation.

By daybreak, I'll still go out to see the insane state of lawlessness and nepotism that has pervaded the entire state. I gather some (or is it all?) state civil servants have not been paid for the past four months. My relatives coming in from PH almost changed their minds about the trip because driving through Aba was akin to driving over a refuse dump in a junkyard.

Let's tell ourselves the truth. All these AGIP flattery won't take one far. People have been complaining. The gov's ineptitude is even a common knowledge nationwide. Go out and feel the pulse of the people. Take these complaints and once in a while, forward them to the man, that these are so and so that you've been hearing. Or those are certain areas he may have overlooked, which require urgent govt attention.

Rather than resorting to these unnecessary flattery which make it seem as if the gov is an over-achiever. It will take the state nowhere.

PoliticsRe: Patience Jonathan Battles Parkinson’s Disease? - SaharaReporters by Tinyemeka(m): 1:31am On Sep 28, 2012
ojotask: Jonathan had battled Parkinson’s for some years now. In addition, doctors had advised her to “do something urgent about her morbid body mass index (BMI),” said the source. She added that Mrs. Jonathan had indeed considered undergoing the kind of tummy tuck procedure that former Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha once had.

Two other sources close to the Jonathans confirmed that the First Lady has been dogged by Parkinson’s. One said the disease was largely responsible for her clumsiness, drawling speech and slow movement at public events. He added that Mrs. Jonathan has been suffering serious trembling in the left hand. “That’s why she always uses her right to hold the microphone when speaking at public events,” the source revealed. Mrs. Jonathan also reportedly is affected by stiffness of the limbs and trunk which affects her movement.

A news staffer at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) told SaharaReporters that Mrs. Jonathan’s aides warned reporters covering her never to film her beyond her waist. “Her senior personal assistant told the crew covering her long ago: ‘Don’t ever film Madam’s waist. Show her face only.’ That’s been the code at NTA.”

Two of our sources stated that Mrs. Jonathan had made efforts to slow the disease that had started to ravage her. “She has been visiting a health farm in Italy on a regular basis since 2010,” one source revealed. “To alleviate her pain, she has been taking her medication religiously.”

A friend of Mrs. Jonathan’s said that the First Lady’s health maladies include anxiety, occasional memory loss and disorientation. In addition, her blood pressure often rises to dangerous levels, forcing her to take a cocktail of anti-hypertensive drugs.
Now this is downright insulting and immoral. I've lost whatever iota of recognition I may have had for Sahara Reporters.

Their articles have long since crossed the line of cheap propaganda.

A gossip soft-sell would have told this story better. sad

Nairaland GeneralRe: Flooding Leaves Thousands Stranded At Abuja-lokoja Road by Tinyemeka(m): 10:38am On Sep 26, 2012
I passed that road while travelling to Abj on Saturday the 15th. The roads then, were ok. What we saw were partially submerged houses that had been built close to the river. But by Friday of the following week on my return trip, the road had become impassable with the water a foot deep and 2 feet in some places. Mind you, this road is on an embankment, so the water level had risen at least 5 feet in the course of just 1 week. And it is still rising.

I've also heard rumours that the offending dam in Cameroun will soon be opened again to release excess water.

An alternative route should be devised for the road commuters. I don't know why roads should be built so close to rivers and long stretches for that matter. In the meantime, the FG has been acting as if the issue is a trivial one that does not warrant their action. That is bad.

What is needed now is an intervention by the FG with the Camerounian Govt at national level.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: World Bank 'Access Nigeria' Program: Worth The Effort ? by Tinyemeka(m): 7:28am On Sep 25, 2012
mbhs139: I hope moderator will bring this to the front page. This is the story.

Sometime in 2011, around March, we got invitation to attend a World Bank sponsored training called ACCESS Nigeria. The program was held in several cities across the country, which includes Ibadan, PH, Abuja, Kaduna and others.

We were made to go through a 3hours intial examination to prone down the number of people that will be selected for the training. After being selected, we were giving a 10 weeks training at Multi-Mix Academy, going to Eric Moore and Ikeja for our theory and practical classes respectively three days in a week for 10 weeks.

At the end of the training, every trainee were made to take another examination in order to evaluate then and prone down the number to those that meet the standard - I suppose. Meanwhile, the impression we were given was that after all said and done, candidates that meets all requirements will be placed on internship after which prospective employers will then decide to take you on if you are up to the task. Let me quickly add that the program was meant for final year students in the University.

To our greatest surprise, that is those of us that took part in the trainning and examination and passed, the organisers (World Bank, Hewitt-Aon, and the Step B Project) then organised an open job fair at the national thearter for everyone to attend and meet prospective employers. And guess who are this prospective employers; NIIT, New Horizon, APTECH, JOB Finders, HR Consult, GT Bank, UBA, Multi-Mix Academy. Majority of them, except GT and UBA, are training providers and job placement recruiters. You will drop your CV with them and expect to call for you for jobs when they are available.

The question is, what is the essence of the trainning and series of examinations we were made to go through in the first place afterall?

To make matters worst, people came from this other centers, particularly from PH, Kano, Adamawa (I saw some folks who chartered a bus from Kebbi and Adamawa, they took part in the series of programs at their respective locations).

I wish this makes front page and the organisers will see it to react. But as far as I'm concernned, the objectives of all the troubles we were put through has been defeated. For them to have thrown the job fair open to even those that didn't taka part in the selection process and all that was unufair and an injustice on their part. For them to have brought in NIIT, and all that into a job fair says a lot about them. Is NIIT an employer or a training institue? They were just there to market their product just like majority of the so called employers of labour, perhaps with the exception of GT Bank and UBA. Even these two banks will not collect your soft copy CV except hard copy- they will just throw it somewhere at the end of the day.

They just wasted our time, energy and resources. Some people even had to rush down from NYSC camp to finish the course. And do you know that we were not given a dime for all these exercise, it was all at our cost. So, what are we saying? For them to only throw us among people who had masters degree and years of experience at an open job fair. I can go on and on but...
I don't intend to be rude but I had to force myself to read your post. There were spelling and grammar errors after every two lines and in some cases, every line. Honestly. If you are currently on a job hunt, I'd advise that you make it a top priority to work on your verbs and tenses URGENTLY. You may not be aware but it forms a great degree of determining if you'll be successful in your job search or not.

Like I said earlier, I did not mean to sound offensive. Sorry if I did.

Now I know Saharareporters have really lost it in their bid to make every single thing about the presidency seem shady and secretive. For goodness sakes, what is secret about the president making a journey to wherever he wishes. To cover their ass.es, they go ahead to state that the Council meeting would be starting in a few hours. Just in case someone later points out that that may be the reason for the president's trip. If he decides to stop-over at Germany, and so what?!

Then they go about with this stupid hare-brained theory about using another jet as decoy. To deceive who? Terrorists?

CrimeRe: Man Caught Selling Vulture As Fried Chicken by Tinyemeka(m): 8:57am On Sep 21, 2012
Pork feeds on refuse and other gross waste and infects humans with alimentary worms, swine flu and a host of other diseases. Vultures feed on dead and decaying meat and rotting wastes. Only God knows what unknown diseases they carry. Unknown I'm sure, because scientists would hardly reason that people would ever get to eat vultures. Even the Chinese who consume the baddest things imaginable, I'm sure haven't done this one. sad May God keep us.

Why all these silly kind of news? sad

If you decide to stick to beef or ram suya, you don't know if it's donkey or even worse, human meat. Decide to go for chicken and now we have these news about vultures. Most times I see suya paraded as chicken, having very skinny legs that in no way resemble those of a chicken. Once I see those, I just avoid that seller permanently.

Should one then forgo suya entirely? Don't think that's possible. sad

CrimeRe: Wunmi Adebayo Was Killed By Her Boyfriend by Tinyemeka(m): 9:30am On Sep 17, 2012
seleroms: Wunmi
After being continuously tormented, the alledged boyfriend is said to have confessed to the murder this morning. According to the confession of the robber, Wunmi came to his house unannounced and just barged in.

When she entered, she met him and his friends drinking and making merry with guns on the table. On seeing this, Wunmi was shocked, scared and tried to run, but was caught. She was then forced at gun point to go back inside by the guy and his friends. On getting back inside the house, they beat her, raped her, then shot her in other to cover their dark secret.

The boyfriend, then shot himself as well, in other to set an alibi for him self and build the “robbery story” which is currently been circulated today. Since Wunmi is no more to tell her story, he thought he would have easily gotten away with the murder, and no one will discover the true nature of what really happened.
Moral of the story?

Don't barge into anybody's house unannounced, except you can deal with danger yourself. Now if she hadn't attempted to run, would these have happened? **Just asking**

End of story.
