Yes, I mentioned earlier, NAF doesn't commit its ground troops to the NE. NAF QRF once served alongside NA during the JTF days. After that, its rare seeing them anywhere apart from Maiduguri and Air Combat Controllers embedded with NA
171 detachment Monguno...
They're some projects ongoing in that base

NAF Regiment is only present in MDGR Airbse for force protection. For ground combat duties, they're deployed to the NW against bandits, especially the current operation in Birnin Gwari. However, NAF does deploy a intelligence units along with NA troops on operations in Borno. These aren't Regiment or QRF, but rather serve as Air Combat Controllers. They relay coordinates of enemy forces and coordinate close air support missions while in constant communication with ISR and NAF combat jets. One of such officers was KIA in 2019 unfortunately.

NAF Regiment has no current mandate in Borno as far as I know apart from force protection duties in Maiduguri. If they're in Mongonu as you say, then they're probably also there to provide force protection to UN helicopter landing zones.
NAF does have a Regiment base in Monguno...

I know they sometimes fly in pairs. I was asking why this isn't always done, especially on a combat sortie in the badlands.
like some said here we're engaged in multiple fronts that's why
Aircraft availability is the issue..

I asked this before and all I got was posturing:

Why is it that your aircraft - jets and helicopters- don't always fly in pairs on sorties?

When Alpha 475 went down, the partner could have relayed precise coordinates to command, relayed intel on enemy disposition etc, to aid the search and rescue.
they do fly in pairs unfortunately they didn't this time not even with ISR .

All combat pilots go with their survival kit in every mission, the kits contains all they need to give them a fighting chance at survival. Radio Comms, first aid kits, water, chows, and a Pistol.
Infact before you're fully decorated as a combat pilot you must have undergone a course on survival (SERE): Survival, Escape, Resistance and Evasion. That the pilots haven't contacted anyone till now is very worrisome, the pilots have lots of flight hours so they're very experienced and know what to do, moreover there are lots of checkpoints to run to.
How are we even sure they ejected? has rescue ops sighted their ejection seat? this will give them a clue if they ejected at all. If it is established that they ejected then I believe the rescue party must have cordoned off atleast an area 40km radius within the crash site, who knows they might have had complications after ejection and lose their lives(God forbids) because that F7 jet ejection seat is very notorious for causing aggravated injuries to pilots, or they may have being captured.
I pray let it be that those guys are chilling somewhere in a hotel in a near by town let them use the opportunity to give themselves pass.
it wasn't an F7 but alpha jet.

Pilots no be Moi moi oh lipsrsealed

Are they really sure this crash happened in Konduga? If it is definitely this pilots should have reached Maiduguri if they were not abducted. Tho it depends on which part of Konduga this happened shaa

Do Pilots carry any compass/map reading instrument?
That's what we've heard so far..
My fear is that they're not been abducted..
Either ways we hope if they're still alive they'll be found soon...

Nigerian Air Force HQ
UPDATE ON MISSING NAF ALPHA JET AIRCRAFT

Intelligence report gathered by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) indicates that the Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF475) that went off the radar with 2 crew members on board on 31 March 2021 might have crashed.

The cause of the crash as well as the whereabouts of the 2 pilots remain unknown. The pilots are Flight Lieutenant John Abolarinwa and Flight Lieutenant Ebiakpo Chapele.

Extensive search and rescue efforts are still ongoing by NAF surveillance aircraft as well as NAF Special Forces and Nigerian Army troops on ground.

At this point, the NAF is not ruling out anything regarding the incident. It however remains hopeful that the crew would soon be found and rescued.

To be realistic that aircraft is gone, our concern is for the safety of the pilot.
What is surprising is the fact that we haven't located any debris or sign of any till now, not that there is any serious body of water within that general area to suggest he ditched into
e fit be say the pilot don go mistakenly land for one of this neighboring countries and possibly they've detained him w/o contacting Nigeria (though this is unlikely) but I pray this is the situation because God forbid if at all he ejected into the waiting arms of ISWAP guys e no go funny for NAF family.
The current CAS will be really sweating his ass off, cos it's looking as if since he took over wahala just dey follow the man upandan.
I'm hearing the jet crashed In Konduga Village..
I pray the pilots are found alive

Haba!! this is intel no follow at all.
I even doubt if BHT have the capacity to bring down a fighter jet, their AAs are of little or no threat to fast moving high altitude jets. Most probably it had technical fault mid air.
.
I'm suspecting technical fault midair during it's sweep..
I've contacted my friend who's a pilot a skyhawk.
He said no updates but we should keep praying...

I hope they are found by own troops. I hope they are carrying side arms too. The kind of hatred terrorists have for fighter pilots is the worst in this world. DAESH burn fighter pilots alive in cages it is terrible.
