Onegai: I don't know about Abuja (Tojued is the resident abuja mama) but in Lagos I'll ask my sis. She seems to know those kind of stuff. Lol tojued is doing ghost mode, waiting for some sabi mama to suggest a tested agency in Abuja. If I knew a good agency, my baby won't be in daycare right now. The one I tried out did not work at all, the Nanny lasted exactly two weeks. |

I took him to a paed she prescribed skineal and vitamin c and stop usage after five days. Thruth be told I didn't use the skineal. so I stopped el rubbing anything on his skin. after some days all the rashes cleared off. Fast forward to the day before yesterday I started using the coconut oil back and the rashes has started appearing again. Any home remedy for that?

silvyonys: Thank you for the response. He has rashes and always sweats. He is just a month old. Can I miss coconut oil with Johnsons lotion. I will appreciate it if you teach me how to make coconut oil i would advice you to avoid anything 'oyinbo' since he's having rashes. I can testify for palm kernel oil. Most mommies here will testify for pure ori. Coconut oil is also super. Please go natural for now. Some mommies even use only water to wash their babies, to avoid stories that touch. summary of what i'm saying is stop using Johnson's lotion lol. as for the sweat, coconut oil has a cooling effect, so that should help. sorry i can't help with the coconut oil, i'm very lucky my mom makes for me. |

Ok how many MLS of the nan1do you make for her? How frequent do you feed her? ( Maybe she is still hungry) Excessive crying could also be a sign of colic.
What was her birth weight? Is the 3.2kg an increase or decrease or standstill?
My solution feed her 90-120 Mls of formula every 2 hours as she's exclusively formula fed right?
Burp her well during and after each feed.
Do tummy time by placing her on her tummy but keep an eye always.
Bicycle her legs with her laying on her back.
Massage with warm water.
"Sabi" mamas will come and concur or make corrections! Plus add to the above." you're a sabi daddy na. on point. Good morning everyone. |

baby8: rofemiguwa hello, i got the lansinoh froms mothersbond for 41k this week. he did not have the double electric kinyo. i am following your footsteps in EBF. am about to resume work and am also trying to leave at least 600ml at home. have started storing them in the freezer.
my question is about thawing the milk, 1. how do u know when to bring it out for the baby to drink and how long does it takes to get warm?
It takes about 8 hours to thaw in the fridge, better to thaw in fridge than at room temp. I bring out tomorrows own in the evening when I get home. Leave in fridge till baby is ready to drink, then warm required quantity in warm water.
2. when i wash and sterilize my baby's bottles, there is still some water there, how do i air dry to remove all traces of water, so the breast milk will not mix with the water there.
I boil in hot water for this very reason. They dry very fast as all the water drips off, then I place upside down in a sieve and hang the sieve on a bowl or any other way air can get in from below.
3. i also want to be expressing in the office, can i express and keep in the fridge then bring it out and go home with it. it will not be cold again before i get home.
I do this, but I usually get home in less than an hour. Otherwise buy a good food warmer, will keep the milk cool till you get home. I bought mine 1,800 but have ended up not using it.
4. i store in lansinoh storage bags for now, but it can not be reused. might have to get your kind of bottles too. please post the link where you got it from.
Enter market or supermarket and buy the cheapest feeding bottles you see. Budget between 150 and 400 per bottle. I think I found a pack of four - 2 big and 2 small for like 1k, and in a supermarket for that matter. But when I boiled them the covers changed shaped lol. The bottle and nipple are still okay sha.
5. is there a specific timing you have to stop when using thebreast pump. is 30minutes okay or too much.
My friend can pump manually for an hour, manually I usually do 15-30 minutes, with my electric i never exceeded 30 minutes. But my reason for short sessions is laziness/unwillingness to stay still for long.
thanks Uwc |

eolowu1: tanx for replying me on d price of breast pump, pls tell me d dos and donts of pumping breast milk, and hw do I sterilize d feeding bottles to avoid infection. if I express into his bottle and he couldn't finish it at a go, can I give it to him in d next feed? or I discard it, wot is d expiring/ validity hours of expressed breast milk if nt put in d freezer. tanx Sterilise using Milton tablets, a steam sterilizer, or boil in a pot for five minutes. Once food if he hasn't finished it one hour after he started. Milk stays one week in the fridge, 4 hours outside fridge. Because of our hot weather and nepa I do 3 days for fridge, 2 hours outside fridge. |

faari: This gas thing is beginning to get to me. 1) She grunts and stretches anything she wants to pass gas, and now she'd fold her legs when she pees. I was told infacol or gripe water but we dey EBF and I'm worried about giving it to her. and someone else said nospamin
2) And she has this wheezing thing she does when she eats or sleeps. I complained but was told nothing in her throat, two days after the attached picture came put of my baby, twice. Thick mucus. And The wheezing I can still hear it but reduced though. I have been giving her vitc once daily, started three days ago.
3),What can I use oo. And one more thing, she doesn't suck that well. I'd even force her to suck after five minutes and she will begin to cry. Five minutes and she's done, will remove her mouth and off to sleep. What can I do? I am lactating enough and I even learnt to express the foremilk out a bit before I breastfeed so that the little she takes is d hindmilk. She sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. Feeds inky like five times in a day, maybe twice at night, even with abidec.
3) when she feeds these days, she poos while or right after feeding and it is green and a lil foamy. She hardly poos now and only when she feeds or just fed.
4) what can i use for diaper rash? Its this red patch on her vulva and butthole. Should i change hee diaper? We used huggies withe a ribbed effect and now we use one without. Someone recommeded Pampers premium.
She is 6 weeks old now. Please help ooo.

I think most babies accept it. My friend's baby takes it regularly everyday and she is doing great. Its the nutrients in it i love.
I dunno if you can mix it with pap. Will have to ask her doesn't need to be cooked? i'm interested. how do we discuss more? |

MamaOO: It's electric....double electric. Medela Pump-in-Style Advanced. I also have no idea why I'm able to produce and pump so much milk. Depending on how long since my last pump, I get between 8-17oz per session.
This morning, I pumped 16oz from both boobs, 7am in the morning. My last pump session was 11:55pm last night. I also try not to pump too much so that my body won't think it's a cue to make more. So I only pump 4-5 times a day and yesterday I got 56oz total from 5 pump sessions Hmmmm I wish it was possible to borrow, sell or donate. You're indeed blessed, formula people will never see your money to chop. |

Please read the links i put up on this page for immunization. The paed explained very well the different vaccines for different ages and the gap in between them. I honestly don't understand your card, it's too different from mine. Immunisation at fmc jabi is everyday, but I believe rotavirus is Tuesday and Thursdays. I took mine on a Thursday. Stop worrying your head, when you get to FMC the nurses will help you interprete your card. So long as you're humble when asking lol. Edit: I just noticed your card is the US one. I have absolutely no experience in this regard but you may have to take some catch up shots cos our Nigerian schedule is different. |

barak4real: Please, when is the ideal age to start giving babies water and what is the effect of bottle feeding a baby instead of spoon feeding them....
Is it okay for 1 month + 1week baby to be given water mixed with honey.... Although she is on EBF.... Please advise Honey is dangerous for a child less than a year old abi even 15 months self. Spoon feeding is okay and easier to maintain hygiene than bottle feeding. WHO says no water before 6 months whether EBF or formula or mixed. Consult your dr on this if you live in an extremely hot area e.g sokoto. As for ebf, breast milk is already 80 percent water. |

Haleematm: Good eveng mothers. this is my first time here any protocol to be followed? pls i v a question. my baby is ten weeks already but his first one month i was supplementing my breast milk with NAN 1 cos i wasnt lactating well. after d first mnth i made up my mind dt we are no longer supplementing nd settled with breast milk alone and today we r 10 weeks plus and i still think im not lactating well cos my bby always wants to b put to breast every mins every sec and whenever i press my breast it doesnt gush out like others would another issue is dt my nipple is damn red and painful probably cos of the force he uses to suck and d frequency of d feeding. pls i need help. has anybody experienced this? and plshow can i boost mu breast milk. still doing exclusive despite d pain on my nipple You may want to do a search on this thread for ways to boost supply. Also, how often is baby pooing? Are nappies soaked with pee? So long as a baby is peeing and pooing frequently, they are getting enough food. How's his weight chart looking? If it's steadily rising then he's adding weight meaning he's getting enough food. For sore nipples I recommend lanolin, a mommy here says it's sold in medplus pharmacy (lagos). Please ensure he's latching well. To reduce frequency of feeding try to let him completely empty one breast before moving to the other. The last milk usually contains more fat than the first milk, so it fills them better. I don't know of other mommies, but my breast milk does not gush out! At most there's a tiny continuous spray, but only when I've not fed him for long. |

Optional and expensive: rota *** You should see a gynae for six week check. You'll only see paed if you request to. **** You need a thermometer and paracetamol syrup. Administer 15mg of syrup to every 1kg of child's weight if baby runs temperature. E.g if baby weighs 5kg, administer 0.75ml. This is only applicable to our local paracetamol e.g panda, emzor that have 100mg/1ml written on them. Onegai: So this is an open question to everyone: which is better, if you had choices, for birth and antenatal:
private General hospital Federal hospital
I used to think GH was better, because you have consultants there and yes, they don't pamper you, but I'd rather a safe baby than be pampered. And I've heard too many tales of how a private hospital, seeing you in trouble, refers you at the last minute to a GH. Private all the way. I can't stand their rude attitudes at Public hospitals. I also hate queues. I know private has shortcomings sha, but if i'm to go back and have my baby again, i'd go to private again. |

Onegai: Dexterush, since you're free today, go and see the thread in Family Section. The girl even posted on this thread last year and I think tried to join Pregnancy thread in August.
A new moniker opened a thread, saying she was pregnant, her toddler was starving, she was starving and too sick and had no money to go to antenatal, infact she just wanted to commit suicide. People started panicking and trying to attempt a rescue. Me, I suspected something and started checking her background. Sure enough, she had 2 old monikers.
Do you know this babe's mother sent her to SA to go to school, she got there and shacked up with some guy (whom may have been an illegal alien there) and he convinced her to start doing prostitution? She got pregnant for that one, people begged her mum to take her back to Nigeria, she got here, used her first moniker to be fighting her mum and blaming her for her predicament until everyone got angry and she retaliated with insults, instead of her to listen to their suggestions on how to care for herself and her son. She even wanted to return to the fellow. Meanwhile her mum provided her with nanny but she said she couldn't work because the nanny closes early and she's having morning sickness. (I sh.it you not). She didn't want to help her mum in her shop because "people will talk that she travelled and is back".
2nd moniker, new man. That one has remarried and lost 4 wives (yes, 4 wives!) and she shacked up. He bought her a tablet and put her in Beauty school (which she proceeded to quarrel with them and stop). All through these 2 years in Nigeria, this girl did not have a bank account and did not have the sense to get one, even as she had a small son. Then she got pregnant for man no2 and that one beat her and kicked her out. Instead of her to have looked for even a trade, she came to NL to try and do olosho work in her 1st month of pregnancy. Mum took her back but is angry.
She's now fighting her mother and instead of her to go and look for work, came to NL to threaten to kill herself if we didn't give her money. She thinks we all owe her something and our job is to provide freely. She didn't think to sell the tablet (she has a phone too) to raise small money for herself and her son and her new baby. She is still blaming her mother for her woes. It is everybody's fault but hers.
Abeg I dey hail una here and please, please I must discipline all my children. Kai! Onegai how you take find out all this info self? |

Good Day,
FGN Bonds are debt instruments issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria as a vehicle to raise funds for capital projects. The FGN bond market is divided into primary and secondary market. The secondary trades daily with maturities ranging from 2yrs-20yrs bonds.
The standard trading volume for FGN Bond at the secondary market is N100mn. Clients who want to invest less than this amount can access the market via the monthly primary market auction conducted by the Debt Management Office (DMO) on behalf of the Federal Government. At the last auction on the 14th September 2016, there was a re-opening of the 5yr- Jul 2021(new-issue), 10yr- 2026 and 20yr FGN 2036, stop rates was at 15.143%, 15.5357% and 15.5974% for the bonds. There will be another auction in October 7th
At the auction, the (DMO) determines volumes sold and the rate its sells to all investors so we only give an indication on the outcome of the auction and this is based on our experience and market trends. It’s important to note that bonds are quoted in yields terms i.e. (effective interest rate) which is different from discount rate quoted on Treasury bills. Minimum subscription for bond auction is N100, 000.00.
If you bid at the auction at a rate lower than the stop rate, you will be sold to at the stop rate. Please note that unlike Treasury bills you cannot pre-liquidate and interest is not upfront. There is always and accrued interest and premium paid if you are buying from the market, a bond that was reopened.
Bonds is Ideal for investors with long term investment horizon as it offers a stable (coupon payment) cash flow every 6 months and the principal investment is also recouped at end of investment period. Most of the FGN bonds in issue are premium bonds unlike treasury bills that are purely discount instrument so the client will pay more to acquire the security.
Treasury will advise if the bid was successful. The customer is expected to make funds available on the auction day.
All FGN bonds are held on a custodianship bases at a fee on behalf of the client by our approved custodian (Diamond Pension Fund Custodian). If you are interested in participating in next month’s auction, kindly send an instruction through your branch some days before the auction for easy collation and processing. So that is how i went to Fidelity Bank today, they told me they don't do bonds, only treasury bills, and minimum investment amount is N1 million. I now went to FCMB and they said bonds are minimun N10 million investment. Mbok, abeg, where can I get bonds for N100,000? i just came here and saw this Diamond PFA sha. Does anyone have any other recommendations? |
